Seeing Eric on a mountain bike just looks right.
I did this Xterra and to my surprise actually saw Eric out pre-riding the trails. Oak Mountain is a fantastic venue for an off road triathlon, can't wait to do it again next year!

Urgh, this one hurt. I've been in that same position more times than I care to remember. If I race my best and get my butt kicked, I don't mind, but if I don't get the chance to do my best race . . . it eats at me!
What a fantastic video, today, Eric. Well, they are all very good, but some stand out just a tad more, as we say over this side of the pond. Heaven knows how you shoot, and edit and always add appropriate music over your bike segments, whether on the road or increasingly on the mountain bike. It's always a learning curve, with new race experiences, but I am sure you can only get better, at Xterra. Great work as always. Stay safe both, see you err both next week? Much love from the UK.
About those songs, what is that last one, any idea? Both Google and Shazam did not catch it and I love it.
Love Oak Mountain. I used my first set of clipless pedals there 20 years ago and paid for it dearly on one of those skinny wood bridges! There is some technical stuff that most people probably wouldn't expect plus the greenery of Alabama is cool. A little different from the openness of Idaho for sure.

I raced few years XC MTB and did some XTerra, typical to see something you don’t want to hit and focus on it.... to finish hitting it. What I learned is that you go towards whatever you look at, so better not look at what you want to avoid hitting but rather where you want your wheel to go. I learned that the hard way too.... Good luck on your next one Eric!

I do 70.3 and full IM, but I just love mt biking so much. So far I refuse to race x-terra because I want to keep mt biking fun and free, like your ride in Idaho.... but now you put that bug in my head. Keep pushing Eric, it will go your way very soon.

Looks like it a was a great ride despite the punctured tire. Arkansas is really coming into its own in mountain biking and has some cool rides. I can’t imagine we won’t see more triathlons there in the future.

Good vid Eric, bummer outcome but the positive is no broken bones/teeth. Sounds like you're stoked and want to give Xterra a decent shot. Perhaps it's time to invest in a bike with "bomb proof" tires??

Well , somewhere between the lines , I hear luck of experience riding MTB. Why none of the top riders got a flat but you? Good try next time will be better. Lesson learned
Brad Weiss actually double flatted but was able to fix both. I definitely need more experience, but this is also supposed to be the most technical course in the US, so trial by fire.
