I'm really curious to know how many pros exist that feel comfortable competing at the highest level in both road and mountain bike triathlons. I feel like it's super impressive that you do both and you shouldn't take it for granted that you're competing for the podium in both sports
You would be surprised. A lot of pros start doing either MTB or CrossTriathlon and then transition. That's in my opinion the best way to go when you are a kind with pro ambitions. The bike handling skills they have are insane!

I live on Maui and, probably this was the first and only powerful Kona storm for our winter season and it just happened on that race day weekend! I feel so bad and sorry for all those ones flying over and had to go home with an empty experience! Stay healthy and time for enjoy life !

Such an amazing video! The real side of racing with condition ever changing, going to a duathlon and having a long season . . . proud to be a watcher of you and Paula and seeing how professionally you handled exterra worlds despite it changing to a duathlon (seeing how to recalibrate the mental preparation quickly) to do your best was inspiring! Also, to see the joy you have for mountain biking and doing these exterra races mixed in with triathlon racing was fantastic! Career longevity is crucial and doing these types of events will only make you better!👍💯🤗🙌👊💪🤙

atta boy eric! it's been a weird year (or two?) for racing, and my wife and i felt the same you did as we tried to drag our season out, perhaps one or two races too long. still, you toed the line and put it all out there, which is the main thing! hope you're ready for a great off-season.

And I’m saf to see that you guys get hate mail. You’ve inspired me to get into the sport, I can’t imagine what ppl have to complain about. But their opinion says more about them than it does about you. Keep moving forward and know that your videos mean a lot to also many ppl. Even though the negative ppl are sometimes the loud ones the rest of us are out here rooting for you! 💜

On a side note…y’all were on my dream last night. We were meeting a friend and then a giant alligator chased us so we hopped on these mt bikes, took a sweet jump and they transformed into flying bikes. It was pretty rad…and we didn’t get eaten 🤣

Great edit; great season! Where did you stay on Maui? Those bungalows look perfect for a visit.
The bungalow situation was called "International Colony Club". We found it on Vrbo
But will add, rainy day here, makes me want to go ride in the rain, perfect thanks, and as always, you video so good, and value, and drum beats, I will say, there might be like a good idea there, lol as most race coverages are not good, and if like someone could do good videos of races, lots of us will watch, now when lots of us watch, it like provides you a way to go to like every product that tri people would use, and advertise with you,,,there you go buddy:) million dollar idea, then they pay you to travel to the races, you don't have to race, only the races you want to and win:) by the way, I like the back and white tank top, going to try and order one:)

Hey Eric, little off topic from the race, but I was thinking about getting a brevelle barista coffee maker I saw you guys get a while back, but looks like you were using something else more recently. You get a new or better machine?
Youre becoming quite the duathlete. ;) You should make the trip to sunny Scottsdale in Feb and do Powerman Arizona! 10k run/ 60k bike/ 10k run. :)

Eric, I’m sure you have thought of these things and I can’t remember of you did or not, but do you think a mid season break may have helped? Like a week totally off and another week of light training? Would you have been able to have fit in a 6-8 week block of just high volume low intensity somewhere in the middle of the race season to rebuild that aerobic base? How much of the season was planned on the fly versus laid out at the beginning of the season? Just some ideas as to how to manage a long season in the future? As always, great video.

So excited to watch, anticipation is growing, why??? Someone is blowing leaves on a rainy day, lol so the old me, would have watched a ruined the music and whole video? New me, well one. Be gald I am not out there blowing leaves, 2 going to start a bussiness, called the shhh gardeners, if you want it, or want to help, find me, lol as you missed the 420 coffee shop, actully still in the works, just over head and is a ton, and then cant find anyone who wants to do the works, so much better for me to just trade star bucks, coffee,,,and jva, jo, those arw my three coffee stocks, he is still blowing, next is to relize, this is just bad energy tring to mess my day up, like side track me, but I am way to smart of it, I see it coming a mile a way, lol really liking the pour over coffee, its the only way I have coffee now, and guess what, I can hear birds again, leaf blower is gone, now to watch the tough race:) as i sit in bed with a cup of perfectly poured coffee:)
Hey Eric and Paula, what do you think of the props Vincent Luis gave you for the couples race? The interviewer (Will McCloy) said "there aren't many couples as good as Vincent and Taylor" but Vincent mentioned both of you first in his reply. Are you entered for the couples race? If so good Luck

Unfortunate the the swim had to be canceled. The swim would have brought back some of the stronger runners who were weaker swimmers to the rest of the field. Eric could have possibly got a top ten then. Are you allowed to run in cleats on a muddy course?

Hmmm, it's raining, so this will be perfect way to start my morning, excited to see how you did, cover picture looks like you cooked yourself, pray not, but if you did, its ok, I hate that hawii, lol like greg from the brandybunch, a shoe from when I was I kid, its like there is curse on me over there,,hence why I am praying hard, the campionships hawii ironman, starts to move around, like the super bowl, now when it moves to santa Cruz, I win:) so dont even try, lol no I want everyone at there best, even thinking building a double tri race for santa cruz, as I heard loinal talking about a double tri, now I think when I can finish a double tri, I will be able to race a regular ironman, kinda like now, when I can finish a ironman, lol, then I will race the 70.3, happy to say, had two best runs last weekend, I kept up with a mountain biker going down hill,,,lol he gave me a funny look, now funny thing is, I gave him the look right back, as I was in disbelief, but then said, no one believes more then me, as I am youtube man, now just so you kinda understand who and what I am up against, have you ever watched cris brown playing basketball, its on youtube,,,see some are not playing fair,,,right??? Now youtube man me will defeat them all:) one step at a time, and when they huff puff their breath away, I laugh and hold my breath , like a surfer, and they see to drown, and I see to swim,

What a great race!!! And conditions should have like played in your favor??? It's like it was a power race, gravel ride, but what takes mountain bikes like years and years, and really I am 50, and every year, I say, wow, I think I am bettet then last year, balance wise, which make me always think, how much better some are then me, nkw swim canceled, that was not in your favor, Alcatraz camp, lol but swim should be viewed as warm up, nothing eles and you should be on there feet, and grab them if they get in your way, lol, well that is a water polo trick, wonder if I get caught, lol never did while playing water polo, but did get punched in the face, once, lol, taught me I can really get into peoples heads, lol,,,one thing very different from mountain bike and like ironmans, hint its in the name, mountains, lol and where you claim to have been beat, but all in all, great race, recommendations, down hill bars, and if you want to get good at hills, train with weights, like I ride a 45 pound bike, I race one under 20,,,and I only bring the light one out for races,,,so you feel like superman on the bike that day, see one power youtube man has, is to always switch sports, like when i daytrade, I am surfing, or crab fishing works really good, since I get sea sick, and dont like kill life, this virtual crab fishing so much better, but when hill climbing, I pretend I am a weight lifter, now most keep making there bikes weightless, do the opposite, keep make your bike weigh more, very little, like a weight lifter increase, then one race day,,,you bring out super light bike, I like to put the weight in the rims, like I keep adding thorn resitant plastic liner, think each one about half pound, have 3 in the front and back, will be making it 4 soon, now this one makes it a very hard ride, I mean you role super good, two you never get a flat, and three, when all the weight is gone, you just fly up the hills,,,just some tips, see why I am not scared of loinal, lol
