I remember the first time I died here. A random bish came up to me and resurrected me. I was playing mage at the time and that one act of kindness made me want to become a bishop myself. I never got to that person's level pre-bb but we still became friends and she did whatever she could to help me get used to the class. Now my favorite type of class is magician. Oh, and I remember that I made a bunch of parties here and most of us would sit, talk and play omok when we got tired of training. We mainly talked about the new classes (Cygnus Knights, Aran later on) and how we wanted to try them out when our mains got to a high level. Sometimes, we even played some henesys PQ and so many people wanted to get the rice cake hats. I made so many friends and one of them decided to create a guild that everybody was a part of. I remember this one time where my parents gave me money and I spent it on NX. I was a low level (27) and a bunch of people asked why I got NX items in a low level as if it was an unwritten law that high leveled people can be the only people who can buy NX items. It might have been a bad memory, but I felt strong for going against a dumb belief and some of my buddies even got NX items at a low level before I did. We then began role playing our own story about a team that started out weak and became stronger and legendary after a while. We never got as strong as our characters were (They got to 3rd job, which we never did) but we had fun pretending. And they all happened in this little training site...Why did it have to go?
Iwish i could remember more about my days back then.. I loved this game more than anything and i always come back to remind of old memories..My english used to be so bad but I somehow managed to talk to people and make friends despite all that. This is how games should be, working together achieving goals and bonding together. Today even on private servers people only talk about items build stats and you can't ever get the same feel you had before as a kid..
This was very heartwarming to read. Having fun while only pretending is the essence of roleplaying! I too made a Bishop friend. I was exploring higher level areas as a Fighter because I had the health pool to take some hits and potion spam when I got hit. I was I think level 40? Not sure. But I was descending to Ludibrium's core. Right before the crossroads, I met a Bishop who invited me to her guild and agreed to give me a tour all the way to Papulatus. It was cool how she killed just about everything with ease until Gatekeeper/Thanatos map where she told me to hang way back so that I wouldn't get instakilled. Not sure whether we ever hung out or messaged each other much but she showed me kindness by escorting me to one of the deepest end game places Maplestory had back then.

If you spammed a potion you could climb past the portal to the next map and sit on top of the grassy patch. Tons of people would try to get up there and disappear as they were teleported to the next map, because they didn't know how to do it. Actually, any area that teleports you automatically could be bypassed using this method!
I remember overfeeding my pet trying to do this method because I never unequipped him. I had the Brown Puppy pet and he was crying the whole time up that rope, I still remember it to this day :(
I remember the rope at the top of the map that took you to the second zone. If you bound an item (best choice was your chair item to del/end/pg down etc) and spammed it as you climbed the rope, you wouldn't trigger 'entering' the next map, and you could climb to the top of a small platform you weren't supposed to be at. I'd AFK there and come back to see the chat log of players passing by saying "how did you get up there?" "Who's up there?!" Good times in the early MS, nay, any online game back before the mainstream players knew how to function in an online game (Runescape, Maplestory, FlyFF, Dragon's Nest, Mabinogi, GetAmped2 - GOOD TIMES.)
I remember I would run around and collect all the mesos on the floor. I eventually got to 10000 mesos and bought pants from lith harbor, and I thought I was so sweet at this game. :(
This is PURE LOVE. I remember finding sooo many ores and gems here because every once in a while a high level came in and sweeped the entire place with their high damage. For some reason I was the only one eager enough to spam Z on the items until they became free-for-all. Thats how I always got my gloves and boots, and also a garnet for another quest.

I can remember the feel of the unknown to be explored in old maple 🍁 the items to be found and the storys to be made. First time seeing savage blow skill from a bandit and I was in awww. The grind was real. So much pride it took to lvl a character at lvl 50+.
I advance to Warrior. Take the taxi and start grinding here. Swap between channels for least competition or empty lane. Some lvl 140 comes and uses a skill I never seen before, destroying everything. I immediately investigate his info. Back to grinding 2 seconds later. Good times.

Lol the chair glitch at the top of the platform to go to grounds 2, surprising they kept in as long as they did, was fun watching people try to grab mesos that people dropped up there xD fun times
Showed my Gf a Private server of this game a few years ago, made new characters. While we were playing she would die several times to the snails, slimes, stumps and eventually pigs, zshrooms and evil tails. Showed her the classic popular spots, hhg1, slime tree, stumps-boars in perion, pig beach, blue shroom forest, then the sleepywood areas. She grew to like the adventuring and she got to second class after a few more levels we stopped playing, too much grind she said lmao. She wasn't about the Pq's. We left to play stardew and other various games together. I made it to 140 pre bb on nexon server and then quit at 182(ish) when everyone I knew eventually left about 2012-'13. I haven't even been back since before commenting on the ToT bgm video.

Around 2007-2008, I remember seeing lvl 60+ characters and feeling like I was standing right next to a god.
