I remember stepping onto Victoria Island for the first time, opening the map and being blown away by how big the world was. It took me weeks to grind my thief to level 16, but the game is so streamlined now that your explorer class is level 30 by the end of the tutorial. It breaks my heart that new players won't get to experience that "my journey starts here" feeling that I'm sure a lot of us got when hearing this song for the first time, or the trek to the town where you get your first job before the six-path crossway was there and seeing all of the new enemies and scenery and hearing the music change between regions, or the dopamine hit when you've finally killed enough slimes/snails/stumps/mushrooms/snakes to gain one level. I wish we could all go back 10 years to be together in MapleStory again. I'll never know any of you irl but I'm sure anyone with the nostalgia to come back here and read this wishes for those times. The dream is dead but you and I made it possible when it was and our memories will remain for a lifetime. Thank you guys. Life sucks but you helped make it a little less so.
31 here, and going trough a pretty tough time... Man life was just so careless back in the days, coming home from school, starting the pc and waiting 2 minutes before it actually loading. This game was so good for its time, it had everything. Eventuelly quit it since i played very early from the Netherlands and then they split maple Europe and USA which i was playing on. Couldnt play with any friends and didnt wanted to start all over again. Even emailed then to transfer my account to Europe but versions of the game didnt match or something... So sad
I started in 2005 on Broa with a Warrior and I quit shortly after the Big Bang in 2011 on Broa with my Bishop . I'm honestly happy I didn't start with WoW. This game taught me so much patience I can level in any game and hear people trying to complain about not getting all of their levels in a week and just chuckle. I'm just happy I got to enjoy the game in its younger days.
nostalgia is getting stronger as I am listening through the playlist 1 by 1 ... the tune itself brings back images in the head I don't even know existed . 1 thing for sure is they are precious memories I had when maple was still a social game where you learn how to be nice and strive to take each tiny step towards your big goals
At around 2007, i remember when i first landed at lith harbour, i met a fellow beginner who mentioned his dad passed away from war in iraq or something. I hope he's doing alright
Yooooo, I remember the first time I managed to kill that thing. I was SO proud of myself lol. Me and my cross-eyed warrior who was missing 80% of his attacks. Good times.
remember the pig hidden map in the giant map near ellinia? The old maps were really cool. they have a special place in my heart, i still remember how all of them looked before big bang.
+Alan Burgueño I pretty much feel exactly the same way when I hear this music. This game was so good when it first came out, and has become complete trash.
I've had a traumatic childhood and Maplestory was a place where I felt safe. Most of the amazing memories I've had as a child were through Maplestory. The community is something I cannot find in the real world and I struggle to assimilate. I remember how when your friends logged in everyone would say "WB" short for welcome back, or "sup bro" as in what's up bro. It was easy to talk to people without feeling scared and meeting people from all works of life. From America to Australia, Australia to Europe, it was funny at the time that depending on what time you play you'll meet people from these walks of life. For example in the morning before school i met a lot of American kids, but after school it was a lot of Australians and school friends and relatives. Now that I have grown it's amazing to reflect back on how young and stress-free from the chaotic world I was. Not a single worry and no bills to pay, just my parents always nagging me to do some homework or go outside and exercise. I remember when Maplestory implemented the timer that said you have been playing for 1 hour and have a break. I remember i always played over 10 hours a day during the holidays. Gosh they were the good old days. Time went fast.
Why are we not talking about how, musically, these are all really diverse and well structured songs. These songs are literally more well written than 99% of new music today.
I feel like no one appreciates the art and music of MS enough. Sure it's a goofy pay-to-win MMO but it's genuinely one of the best looking and sounds games out there.
in the old days, this is a freaking nostalgia place where everyone stepped in from maple island, walking to each town to have their first job advancement
I remember coming home from school playing Maplestory everytime, meeting new people, taking the flight to Orbis with strangers and just talk about life and Maplestory. I miss the good old days, everyone that was part of my journey I hope you all are having a wonderful life now, full of joy, I will never forget the amazing memories Maple gave me.
Is it just me? or does this song really suit the entire setting? imagining urself as a level 10 beginner. Leaving maple island, arriving at lith harbor and the music starts playing. The music sounded like hope, sounded like a new adventure and now sounds like a distant memory😭
I get so lost in my memories of maplestory times i tend to end up sleeping and woke up the next day, leaving a great and wonderful dream of me wielding my polearm and adventuring. I still remember a random guy guided me throughout the beginning parts until we part ways in Henesys. Sometimes i just wish to relive all my memories and actually never wake up (thats how depressing my reality is...)
That guy at the harbor gives you a quest that you just have to answer some questions, and talk to the job master... and boom free exp right after you advance 1st job!
@@SleepySnaiI agreed, and sadly I didn't know the game that much before the big-bang and didn't get to play it :( There is probably a private server of the pre-big bang version, but I'm too lazy to search.

Being a low level player with shitty gear was somehow a magical experience in this game... i will never forget the first time i wandered into elinia for the first time, such a beautiful region
1st, i was redirected by thomas frank to studying while listening to soft musics. but then, while music genlty played, my tears came out unconciously, in my head, all i has is that music on Maple story login page. and i started to cry more. My online friends, no matter where are you, what youre doing now, who you with, I just hope that you;re doing fine and wish you all the best in what you aiming for..... MS SEA, Cassiopeia. 2005 ~ 2008
Played since 2005. Of all the multiplayer/MMORPG games I have played, I would argue that this was the best. Purely because of the unintentional magic that it was able to make us feel. Even the developers don't understand. It was an experience that was more than just a game. Maybe it was just a glorified chatroom back in the day. But i would kill to have those days back. Nostalgia aside, the community was more closely connected, and the game was better because of it.
> Had a couple stressful days att work. > Comes home. > See a random tweet about Maplestory BGM. > Realise it was a long time since I last listened to it. > Start a list. > This song comes up. > Flashback to me and my old friends playing it together. > Legit cry a bit. Man those where some good times.
When I first heard of this in MapleStory as a kid, I felt it's like a breeze of wind, gives me a feeling a relaxation and chill, while now over 1 decade later, I'm 23, sitting in the Stanford Engineering library on this Sunday to complete a homework for my final semester as an undergraduate student, I can easily close my eyes and all those simple joy and fun came back to me, they might have been buried under the piles of memory, but they shall never be abandoned. What a game, played it for nearly a decade throughout my childhood and teenagehood in China, those were the times when I could easily rejoice over simple things, laugh and dedicate without distractions of smartphones, enjoy my free time and wonder why time flies while playing games, naively thought that is life and nothing will ever change, never thought I would get older and have much more things to worry about. Just like that Sean's famous line in "Secret Life of Walter Mitty", "if I like a moment, ......, I just want to stay in it.". Beautiful music, MapleStory easily refreshes my childhood memory.
Today is May 10, 2022, I’m in Tivat, Montenegro. Life has been great since I started my own contracting business in July 2020, after struggling a hard year and work on my business, I still appreciate this music, as much as I appreciate the time, experiences and knowledge I acquired since I wrote down the initial comment in the fall of 2019, my final semester.
Maple Story is such a wonderful journey. Ton of memories along the way. Some of us might already stop playing, even myself can’t find time to play it. But the memories, I hope it will stay for a long time before it start to fade.
Where it all began. An unforgettable journey. Friends were made. Friends were lost. Love was found and hearts were broken. As time has gone by and we've grown older, we've wrote the final chapter of our Maple Story.
I have to say, this is probably one of the happiest songs I've ever heard, like a nice 'welcome back' kind of feeling. I listen to this and it always makes me happy. MS had some great music
MapleStory allowed me to meet such amazing friends who saved me during the darkest chapter of my life. I always loved the how the smallest things led to such meaningful encounters and bonding moments, whether that'd be spending hours training together on a map, organising parties to fight bosses/do PQs, dying together in FM, joining parties to celebrate major milestones...etc. I also miss the times such as how we all used to be available and staying up late just to talk to/hang out with friends in different time zones. I retired from the game a decade ago mainly because my friends started to stop playing, and I don't like the path the game took, alongside with how it's managed anymore (the Unleashed update ruined it for me). However, I am incredibly lucky to have started in 2005 and be part of the generation who played & grew up with this game during its golden age which IMO, it'd be pre-BB for me (the remaining years were still just as significant due to my friends who stuck around in the long run). This was truly one of my happiest times in my life and I wouldn't have grown as a person and also be here today without it. P.S. For anyone who also cherished their times with MapleStory and likes anime, I highly recommend watching Recovery of an MMO Junkie, Belle (not exactly based around an MMO and it's a movie, but it very much follows a similar concept), and Loving Yamada at Lv999!
Its mid 2000s, you just spent 30 minutes to 2 hours on maple island depending on your class. You arrive in Lith Harbor and this beat hits you. Your Maple Adventure starts now.
I used to play this game with my brother, cousin, and friends. We had a guild and my cousin was dating a girl from our guild. They actually met in real life, and she was at our house. She came all the way from Poland to our country to meet us. Crazy how things turned out.
this and ragnarok were my mmos after aoe2 rts. probably one of the best eras of gaming before fps took over. it almost felt more than a game. a social hub. these places unfortunately are ghost towns now. and we come back for the bgm that hits nostalgia in waves
I will say this, in the prime of this game this was THE best game. I believe this because of the friends I met, the fun I had and the memories. It was like stepping out of the jail cell of real life into this free and magical land where people from all over the world meet and train together. I still in 2020 miss the feeling of this game in its prime.
Staying up and playing games isn't the same anymore. I have a hard time socializing. Like, I have a lot of friends, but.. I don't know. Listening to this just makes me realize how much time I spend doing things by myself.
Ive tried so many times to find a private server based on classic MS, but the feeling never lasts. "Optimization" clouds my enjoyment, everyone wants to level up fast and blow through rhe early game. Back when MS was new, the game felt like an infinite adventure. My friends and I would spend time exploring hidden maps and circling around Victoria. I'd hang out in the sauana for hours, playing Omok or just talking to random people. The Cash Shop hadn't been launched so no one looked like an overdesigned cutsey nightmare, we all just wore the awkward class armrors. This is rambling and incoherent but I guess my point is that I'll never forget early GMS and I'll always value the feeling of adventure and excitement I felt every time I logged on.
Indeed very very nostalgic, but for me, I don't want to go back to those years. Even played it for about 5 years, Old Maple is just a little part of my life. Thinking about going back means I will have to lose other wonderful parts I've met in my life after those old maple times, so my personal answer is a no. Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened. We have other possibilities in our lives.
Take that back, rip maple 2006 - N/A Nostalgia got me by the balls, tried maplestory again, Really easy to level, but still fun as hell. It's less pay to win, and There are actual ways to earn mesos other than Grinding or selling fame.
***** Huge disgust. It's still the same charming game, but witch huge changes that kind of lose the feel of what really made the game connected... Nonetheless it's still a pretty fun game. I will not wish for the old maple, as it is dead and if you really wanted it back, you could just use a private server.
I don't know if anyone would believe this. I played maple when I was very young I remember I fought horntail (not sure if it is an event) spawned at the end of the map at Lith Harbor. I swear I'm not lying :( I was at MapleSEA server Delphinus ch12. That time I was only a level 33 i/l. I hid in the potion store to avoid keep on dying and met a few friends there. Good times. I don't know if they will still remember me
Tic Tac aquila msea player here and I think it was a few days before big bang, I remember seeing horntail's left head in henesys and balrog in perion too, they were on a specific cc for both maps, I think a gm spawned them?
back than when there was no social media the fun way to interact and make friend was maplestory those were the best years of my life so much nostalgia hearing this today xD
Thanks to this Lith Harbour song I started palying Maple Story, I used to come in the game to listen to this beautiful music and to see around background scenes such as sea, snails, pigs etc. Sometimes sipping a cup of coffee with my character be sitted on the chair.
No matter how often I hear this soundtrack, I always have a flashback to my childhood. I could remember how hard it was to get the game to run, but when it did, oh did that hit.
wow 😭😭 i can still vividly remember the maple island map, the very last map where you do quests for the people in that town right before you move to lith harbor. It’s been over 10 years but it’s still fresh af in my head
+2ATT 60% glove scroll, one portal over was a cool spot where higher level skills were shown off enlightening the beginners, pig beach down the street as a hidden map... Cohorts Generation X and Generation Y made a great online community in this game. Wizet sold it to Nexon down the line and everything began deteriorating I believe...

MegaMarcus999 omg that fcking and sweet Pig Ribbon omg * i wont cry * :C
and the pig hidden street i guess not that many people figured out. (you know.. back when teh game was about looking around, and NOT power fantasy quite yet...)
I'm 24 now and I don't play MMORPGs anymore simply because I know that no MMO will _ever_ have a bigger impact on me than old school MapleStory
We are the same age I wish we played together since I could place the exact same comment
2023 still missing this . This will forever be in my heart
I was like 11 or 12 when I first started this game now I'm pushing 30 time flies and nostalgia hits hard
I played regularly 2005-2012, I was right there with ya. Maybe even saw you in it back in the day.
married? have kids?
31 here, and going trough a pretty tough time... Man life was just so careless back in the days, coming home from school, starting the pc and waiting 2 minutes before it actually loading. This game was so good for its time, it had everything.
Eventuelly quit it since i played very early from the Netherlands and then they split maple Europe and USA which i was playing on. Couldnt play with any friends and didnt wanted to start all over again. Even emailed then to transfer my account to Europe but versions of the game didnt match or something... So sad
this song really does capture the starting of a hopeful adventure
it also capture that melancholy feeling of the same hopeful adventurer returning back to re-live the same moment a century later
1 thing for sure is they are precious memories I had when maple was still a social game where you learn how to be nice and strive to take each tiny step towards your big goals

u are not alone, the memories bind all old players together, let the memories tell everything

Hahah, after 4 years i feel the same. Maple is the best game i ever played.
The time when my character was lv. 4 and had to carefully strat out to avoid death by slime.
August le Aborto What do you mean? Like MC servers? Minecraft has never gave me that feeling that Maplestory did
i can see where ur coming from but then even mc went bad...
those pigs were deadly back then xD
This piece of music is quite magical, even without the nostalgia.
That empty feeling in my stomach...

The thrill of stepping off that ship and realizing there was a whole world ahead of you worth exploring. Good times indeed...
Why are we not talking about how, musically, these are all really diverse and well structured songs. These songs are literally more well written than 99% of new music today.
They fit the game aesthetic very well.
+jason teh ugh miss it so muchh
everyone because it was a game everyone played. Loved it. Too many MMOs now
That's what oldschool servers like SlimeTales are for.
Yeah...
Sometimes i just wish to relive all my memories and actually never wake up (thats how depressing my reality is...)
not depressing.
I agree, Mayro

I remember that I would intentionally go to this place just to listen to its soundtrack. Amazing game.
don't forget the ship ride music!
MexLuigi that music is , ‘Upon the sky’ - a music that is used during a ship ride between Elinia and Orbis.
It's 2020 and I'm still doing this...

I really miss these days. So many great memories
taylorxboyx Ikr :(, I miss it soo much
we all started the journey here.
Being a low level player with shitty gear was somehow a magical experience in this game... i will never forget the first time i wandered into elinia for the first time, such a beautiful region
2:57 I love that part. it sounds so raw without the other instruments in the background
2:11 really hits the spot. Literally shivers down my spine. Ah the memories.
Totally agree with you. And also 02:57
1st, i was redirected by thomas frank to studying while listening to soft musics.
but then, while music genlty played, my tears came out unconciously, in my head, all i has is that music on Maple story login page. and i started to cry more.

MS SEA, Bootes 2006 here :D
Played since 2005. Of all the multiplayer/MMORPG games I have played, I would argue that this was the best. Purely because of the unintentional magic that it was able to make us feel. Even the developers don't understand.
It was an experience that was more than just a game.
Maybe it was just a glorified chatroom back in the day. But i would kill to have those days back. Nostalgia aside, the community was more closely connected, and the game was better because of it.
Same here 2005 open beta
Oh sweet memories ❤

To me, this was the sound of Maplestory. Its the perfect blend of emotional, fun, uplifting, adventures music out there
Never fails to make me feel a sense of optimism for what’s to come and what’s out there in the world.
Don't f4 because it's over, f2 because it happened
Now 1 year has passed, what a hard year after I graduated.
God bless in your life

Today is May 10, 2022, I’m in Tivat, Montenegro. Life has been great since I started my own contracting business in July 2020, after struggling a hard year and work on my business, I still appreciate this music, as much as I appreciate the time, experiences and knowledge I acquired since I wrote down the initial comment in the fall of 2019, my final semester.
@@tommy0814 Hope you periodically come back to find solace in this music. Even if we don't play anymore, those memories will never fade away.

MS will always have a special place in my heart because of how cozy it was.
To this day, I am still impressed how MS was able to created such a beautiful piece... heavenly, majestic, and beautiful!
Back then, Ribbon Pig was actually a hard monster to take down.
I would always use my favorite technique.

Home after school, WinXP, MSN Messenger and MapleStory. Miss those times.
1990th birth? Good luck my friend
I have to say, this is probably one of the happiest songs I've ever heard, like a nice 'welcome back' kind of feeling. I listen to this and it always makes me happy. MS had some great music
this might be the most nostalgic song in the world to me
MapleStory allowed me to meet such amazing friends who saved me during the darkest chapter of my life.
Bring back my memory of the Summer of 2006...When I finished elementary school, got the whole summer playing maple story at home....Thank you

Cannoneer is far from ''ol school'' but I get your point, nice story mate.

Huge disgust.
They were special events where GMs would spawn bosses at the major cities. It was a major lag fest, but truly a spectacle to behold
back than when there was no social media the fun way to interact and make friend was maplestory those were the best years of my life so much nostalgia hearing this today xD
This is where my story began. Holy I missed those days. I could live in this world without sleep. Buying new clothing every day
