Yes I am really keturah, yes thats me at #7 on the legendary 200 gms maple rankings. Thank you so much for this video. I lived every single thing you talked about (up to the bishop leaching I was 200 in June 2008 so never did that) and you covered things I had totally forgotten. Very comprehensive and 100% correct information. I still remember the pain of converting to lukless but it was required to one hit skeles and thats what made it possible to get to 200 so quickly. Have to say after all these years I am back to maining bishop and it feels totally right! Thanks again and keep up the epic content creation!
With all the respect, Miss Keturah, I’d love to see an interview hosted by him, asking you a lot of questions about those such magical times in our childhoods. Some questions made by us, the viewers as well. We can even lift some money to support his channel and hard work!
I haven't played maplestory since I lost my account to an information leak in the maple trade system. I remember I would go to school, think about maplestory. Go to work, think about maplestory, then get home, and sell leeches until I was too tired. Rinse and repeat. I became a whale with the release of hidden potential and my entire life was flipped upside down when my account was wiped from that glitch in the maple trade system. Thank you for this nostalgia trip. It made my day.
OMG! After my pre-BB Paladin got hacked (rip EvilCowKing!), I mained a Bishop upon my return in ~2013 and got her to 208. So looking forward to watching this video!!! Saving it for later!!
I remember the impact Bishops had back in the day. My brother, who exclusively played NL or rogues in general, leveled a bishop to 120 SOLELY for the leeching services so he could funnel back into his Night Lord. He even had me do an hour or 2 of the service so he could take a break and he even gave me the Mesos for the time i did.
I give you mad props for having these hour+ long videos that succeed to hold my attention throughout them. Some of the niche things that you bring up in terms of nostalgia are golden. Still keeps me engaged with modern content because the past is still so well remembered. I don't play anymore but you and coppersan put out some high quality stuff that I go to when I need that ms fix. 👍🏻
I hope you’ll do a bowman class next! I used to be a ranger pre-big bang, so I have a love for the hunter/ranger/bowmaster line. But something tells me that the crossbowman/sniper/marksman job line would be more interesting to discuss.
@@SMAnthonyW man. I just envy bowman alot of time. After my first character was banned because a hacker was farming near where I was farming. They baned my lvlc60 plus warrior. It took me alot of time in 2005. But i didnt want to gave up the game and I built a crossbowman and when I finally reaches 3rd job and I got around eruption and the ice bird. I understand that i loved sniper more than archer because it looked cool and its skills looks so different and unique compared to other classes including bowman. Nice memories.
Let me tell ya, Magic Guard. Hands down probably most important skill to have. I was a kid, didn't read the skill descriptions. Got my FP mage to 50 before have to delete it cause I didn't level magic guard. I was young and dumb and didn't have money to reset abilities. Found out about it's importance at Orbis Pq.
Damn, this was nostalgic...I remember playing in the beta and all the way up to around the time the hero classes started coming out as a cleric, so seeing this and hearing the sound effects for heal and shining ray is firing off my neurons something fierce. As a cleric main, really glad to know bishops were considered so vital after I left.
Your videos made me so nostalgic about OSMS that I started playing an offline version of v83 maple on my phone hooked up to a monitor with keyboard and mouse. Having a blast progressing with my character to levels that I couldn't achieve when I was younger haha.
You are currently my favorite maple content creator. Your execution is perfect and brings me joy while also taking me back to those good old days. Thank you for your dedication and hard work. I felt it :)
That's my childhood right here flashing before my very eyes I'm 35 now I played it back in late 2005, up until 2020. This game was amazing it was great back then to day if I had the option to go back I will probably will not have the same patience as they did at 15.
Love the Shumi JQ bonus discussion. I remember going to b3 after they added the timer, and it was always a gamble on asking the person who was already there how much time they had left so you could have it 'next'
jesus between the script, editing, voicework and sheer video length its actually insane the amount of quality content you're able to put out so quickly, I have no idea how to you do it but man I appreciate your dedication!
I've watched a lot of RUclips over the past 16 years of my life and come across a lot of channels and I have to say yours is my favorite. I absolutely love your presentation and narration on these longer-form videos you put out and I just want to say thank you for allowing me to revisit my childhood with a game that I hold so dearly to my heart.
I'm hoping we get a pirate video, the hype surrounding the first new class ever added was INSANE, with people making "pre-pirates" with level 30 beginners that they would then turn straight into 2nd job pirates... everyone waiting outside the would-be nautilus entrance...
Just wanted to say, never played OSMS, was more of a Regnarok Online guy back in the day, but this has been absolutely fascinating. Great format and lots of depth makes for a great long-form watch. Definitely going to check out more of your work!
I remember spending countless march breaks/spring breaks just to sell leach to clients who were willing to pay super well, back in the day I thought of this as a job getting paid hourly in digital currency xD It was great and I miss every moment of it! Thank you for making my feel nostalgic, these were the best 3 years of my life.
Watching this video is causing immense nostalgia damage - every sound effect, every bgm, every monster design and item brings waves of memories crashing back and a deep feeling of emptiness, at no longer having old MS. I know that even if I were to play it again, it just wouldn't be the same - the feeling of exploring the sprawling Victoria Island, getting lost in Sleepywood, actually needing to worry about MP potions and skill investments.. aaaa the experience was MISERABLE, but it forged such a strong place in my heart; 'Missing You' just crushes me every time I hear it.
i was a 189 bishop; and i can confirm, we broke the game! i was able to 1-shot skeles and harpes, and i would sell leech for 4-8hrs at a time! i also charged extra to have multiple ring mules that would increase XP to party members!
Absolutely love these videos. I already know 95% of the history of this game because of how addicted to it I was as a kid, but it's just so chill to sit back and see it be retold and feel nostalgic
Wow… this is so nostalgic. Maplestory really defined my childhood (and helped me learn English). I started playing back in 2006 at 8 years years old and made so many friends. 🥹 Bellocan/Mardia friends, I hope you’re all happy and proud of yourselves today.
Thank you for the path down memory lane~~~~ This is amazing!!!! Make one for the other jobs!!!! unless you already did! wait, I'll check if you already have it xD
my best friend was one of the first 200 bishops on kradia gms back in the day. such a fucking achievement- even with gen and hs it took him literally months. i remember watching him talk with a nexon gm about how others werent legit lol but he was and how the gms were watching him train sometimes. man i miss those times and i miss my friend. rip bro
My old boomer friends and I appreciate the fuck out of you for documenting the history of things in this game. This has always been a game that several millions of people played but were too young to properly archive things beyond memory. It's very entertaining to look back simpler times 🥰
I still have my original Bishop from 2005 even though I no longer play, I still remember people joining my channel asking if they can leach and what was my rate per hour lol.
I miss having to grind for job specific equipment. It was so satisfying to don on newly acquired equipment every few levels after acquiring them. Nowadays it's all about bossing. The only equipment drop from normal monsters is the utgard / pensalir set even in higher level maps.
I'm surprised you didn't mention Powerguard mules during the times of Genesis leeching. I was selling that as a service for a long time... HP/Speed gear on a PURE HP stat Page, running around with Powerguard and keeping the mule at level 31 to make it so the leecher could snag some XP from 26+ I kind of remember this being more popular with Bigfoot kills, but it was an effective way to run a character from end of First job to 4th job pretty fast...
27:50 u forgot to mention, cleric’s heal also does damage to the chronos, platoon chronos, master chronos that alishar summons, so the cleric can clear out the mobs so that the Assassin(DPS) can focus solely on alishar
I haven't played MapleStory that much. Only for a couple months when it was released here but Ragnarok and Tibia were way more popular in my country. Yet I'm finding those videos really entertaining. I'm playing Astale now and really wished you could have more than one character per account lol. Watching these is making me want to have alts haha

Man, I love your content so much, thank you again!
As much as Nexon hated leeching, I always thought it was relatively healthy for the game. The recipients were either high-level players who had the meso to pay to level their other characters up, middling players who wanted to spend their hard-earned meso on the quick and easy levels or a newbie friend of someone who wanted to get to a similar level to their friend quickly. Some people would say that leeching was a "cheap" (derogatory) way to gain exp though tbf grinding wasn't exactly exciting or difficult. Some people were just more interested with the next objective rather than the ever-more agonising path in-between. Sod HP/MP washing though. That idea can stay buried.
Nostalgia overload. Old school maple. Those were the days. Back when people were way more social on the game, and the grind was real just to get third job at lvl 70.
I remember getting EXP from healing party members. A lower level strategy was to have a party of Dragon Knights spam the Dragon Roar skill which lowered their HP by a lot and the Cleric would just be healing them all the time.
Great video, almost everything was 100% spot on but i wanted to point out a few things. I didnt play at launch but just wanted to say at some point staffs were the only optimal option. Atk speed didnt matter & wands had lower magic attack then staffs. You'd never choose a wand over staff end game speaking, & as for the lukless mages after the ele wand & staff nerf to holy dmg the ideal swap was running doomsday staff & having your gear scrolled for luk(to have enough luk to equip it). As a endgame bishop back then who could 1shot skeles with ele staff, after the update i was just barely not able to 1shot at 100%(like 80% mobs 1hit the others survived with enough hp to breath on and kill them) & I use to sell zakum arm leeches after that nerf it was absolutely noticeable the change in damage.
Bishops were pretty much required for everything past Level 100 in the old days.. Also Skelegon grind was the shits until Bishop rework and Potential started breaking the game.. NLC Potions came to JMS around 2009. They were a GODSEND. Infinity Came into play during grinding with Genesis.. Angel Ray was massively underpowered until it got the 2xhit and drilling effect. Fantastic video, subbed!
