    Andrew - You are doing a ton of service by providing free AWS content. THANK YOU!!! I cleared the exam in my first try with absolutely no background of cloud whatsoever by studying about 2 hours everyday for 6 days and giving 3 practice exams on the 7th day while also taking the exam the same day. My study plan was as follows
    1. I went through your video twice and all hands on once to understand the AWS console (strongly recommend to do the "follow alongs").
    2. Went through the AWS cloud practitioner essentials (2nd edition) videos once (It's free and is present in the AWS portal).
    3. Gave 3 practice exams before sitting for the main exam.
    In my opinion this much should be enough to clear, however consistency is the key. I would suggest everyone to study everyday for at least 1-2 hours in order to not lose momentum. Hope this helps.

My steps: (1) Watched the whole 4 hour video in 4 different sittings @ ~1 hour each (2) Did a practice exam ($20) (3) Skipped through this RUclips video again to basically read through concept/high-level definitions. (4) Took the Pearson VUE online test and passed in about 43 minutes. I greatly appreciate this video. Thank you!
    Note: Since many of you ask about prior experience, I did work with AWS in 2011-2013 in selling it to the public sector. I literally held meetings with clients, presented our Professional Services capabilities, wrote proposals, and closed the deal. So did have some background knowledge which I was able to build upon from 7 years ago.

For those who would like to know, I used only this video, along with practice tests on his site along with an app on my iPhone to take practice exams. Many of the practice exams had a few questions that weren’t covered in this exam but I just chose to learn them anyway and wrote them down. I firmly believe after taking enough practice exams you get a great feel of what the test will be like, how things are worded, and what to expect. You’ll be in great shape with this video to take it. When taking the practice exams, I only did fairly well, and sometimes even failed others. But I believe it prepared me for how to take the real test. - Subsequently, I practiced 6 Udemy exams, which touch on some extra AWS services and also covers some concepts such as Shared Responsibility Model in greater detail.

    This training course definitely still does the trick in 2022. I just passed my CCP exam today. I spent ~8 hours going through this video and following along over 1 day. I'll say, focus especially on the Variation Studies towards the end. These came in handy for me. One caveat here is that I have been working with AWS on a very basic level for ~4 years. I wouldn't call this advanced use, but it made me more familiar with the platform going into the course. If you're a developer with any hands-on AWS experience, Andrew's estimate of ~8 hours studying is spot on.

    Note: DO NOT DO THE FOLLOW ALONG FOR RDS. "turn automated backup retention period to 0 days" does NOT stop RDS from immediately taking a snapshot. There WILL be a snapshot created if you do this follow-along, and it WILL soon start to charge you (even under the free tier). In 2 weeks it has cost me 4 cents on a completely new AWS account. If you delete the DB instance it does not delete the snapshot -- you have to go to the snapshots section and delete it.

    Passed my exam! Spent 3 days studying for it and took the exam on a saturday morning. got 82%! Just wanted to add my two cents here, this cert while considered basic can be difficult depending on your current knowledge background. I studied and am currently in IT so many of the concepts I am familiar. However, if you are from business or something non-IT, I would recommend that you take a month to study for this. Many concepts mentioned are high level and may fly over your heads because you weren't paying attention or just don't understand it enough to deduce the correct answer. E.g. the difference between different kinds of databases. For developers, once you learn the difference, its pretty hard to forget. You will instinctively choose the right one. But that may not be the case for a non-techie. So difficulty will vary but dont be discouraged!
    For more general tips, after watching and reviewing this video, please go ahead and search for exam dumps/ questions online they will really help clarify your misunderstandings. A lot of questions in my exam focused on CloudTrail, Responsibilies of a cloud provider / customer *** vey impt. You really need to know each of the Amazon Technology listed. E.g. CloudTrail, CloudWatch, Amazon Macie, Route53. I would recommend pausing the video when you reach a new technology, go to the Amazon page, read up the description, then return back to this video to verify and reinforce your understanding.
    You need to know what metrics are available in budgets vs TCO, SNS, MFA and IAM, Pricing models, consolidated billing ( i had 4 questions on this), trusted advisor.
    A few technologies were mentioned that weren't covered in the video and I'm not sure if it was the correct answer or not;
    Amazon Fireeye
    Amazon Cognito (3 questions mentioned this)
    Overall, this video definitely helped + Harsh Baxi's Time Stamps for the topics + examtopics AWS certified cloud practitioner (This is the "forum" exam dump that helped me immensely)
    I think i would have failed without the questions from examtopics.
    Hope this helps! good luck everyone!

      Hi , i come from a Non IT background (was a cook) .and is very interested in AWS cloud. Do you know what kind of career Steps i should take to becoming a AWS solution architect? Should i get Cloud Practitioner Certificate? How can i get a job within IT?(what are the stepping stones?)

    • @aymanalmateeg
      @aymanalmateeg 3 года назад +4

      @@AblewellVSAllan firstly I admire your braveness, not everyone is brave enough to consider such a drastic career shift so props to you for this. You can do it easily if you stay motivated and while I am no cloud expert I can say you have made a good choice by considering cloud as a future career, it is obviously picking up more more everyday. I think the AWS Cloud Practitioner Certificate is a good starting point. AWS has a fee essentials training on their webpage that could get you started and you could open a free account and play with their free services to get a feel of what is like. Some learning on basic IT principles could help before (or even after) doing this course, maybe learnt about compute, storage and network resources. You will find that these things will sound more interesting to you and you will want to keep learning. luckily, it is one of the career paths that have abundant support online in terms of learning and certification material, and the AWS platform and certification pathways are very organised. Enjoy learning and good luck!

    • @moonshiry
      @moonshiry 3 года назад +3

      @@AblewellVSAllan Well I'm still figuring out the career path myself, which is why I'm pursuing this cert too so I'm no expert. If you have no experience in IT, it will be very difficult to get a job immediately as a solutions architect unless its some fresh graduate program where they are willing to train up hires with no background. The reason is because the cloud is a very large encompassing area of different topics. Networking, security, sysadmin, development. If you don't have experience, it's hard to pick up on the job because people will be coming to you with their problems and their current setups and you as the architect will have to try and create a map that will help them navigate their transition to the cloud.
      What you can do, is look at it long term and do a tier list.
      Tier 1:
      Learning goal: get a couple of IT certs. AWS is a big jump, but look more at basic certs that will solidify your fundamentals like Comptia Network+, Security+, Cisco CCNA. Because those are also common interview questions. The certs show that you understand the knowledge, and also put your position across to the recruiter that you are serious about moving into IT.
      Career Goal: You can try applying for cloud associate jobs, but it will probably be tough. Expand your search criteria and first try to get a job in IT. Thats 50% of the battle won. Associate sysadmin roles, network admins, security analysts. Moving from 1 of these roles to the next cloud job will be much easier because you will have the knowledge + its a simple transition for recruiters looking to hire. The best advice that I can give and I wish I knew about before I started working would be to look for large MNCs that you know use the cloud. Typically, even if they are just hiring for non-cloud positions - e.g. linux engineer, etc. - you will more than likely have a chance to work with the cloud. That'll be a big boost to your CV as well.
      Tier 2:
      Get your dream cloud job with your experience.
      tldr; Cert up (to pass HR checks), know basic networking, having a homelab is really good, know 1 scripting language (e.g. python) , land any IT job first.
      Recommended subreddit would be /r/sysadmin
      last tip, dont be overwhelmed by /r/sysadmin. And there are different kinds of cloud jobs. Some sell the cloud (not much actual technical exp required, just understand and sell the package) usually called consultants, you got the architects who design the whole thing, you could cloud engineers, cloud administrators; each title are different job aspects and require different skills. So what i think you can do is rather than using a general statement of "i want to work with clouds", go to linkedin and find out what kind of jobs are there in the cloud industry and match what role you want to do, then develop the skills needed for that role.

    PS: This course does not cover everything on the test, they update some questions and topics every few months. Check the exam guideline on aws and check for topics the video doesn't cover and do a quick study of them. Good luck everyone!

    I have just taken my exam this morning, and passed the AWS Practitioner Cert on the first try. My primary study material (over four days of studying) was taking the AWS Practitioner 6 hour course, and repeatedly taking the final exam in that course (I think I took it 6-7 times in 4 days). That final exam mimics the actual exam I took very well. I did watch your course above last night which was helpful, but got into the "weeds" at times. I would say that your examples of logging in and manipulating an AWS account is great for users to manipulate our own accounts, but the manipulation of the account is not part of the exam I took. My exam was all about knowing the names of the services offered, what they do and knowing the AWS verbiage (which you do cover in your course). I will use this course as a reference, as I work within my own account. "The how to instructions are excellent" Thank you!

    Just passed with a score of 917 yesterday! Thank you for the video, especially being able to picture in my head the slide on 1:36:10, that is super important to know up and down but I would not have passed as well without other resources. This series barely touches on the Well-Architected Framework and what Cloud designs are such as Elasticity vs Scaleability etc. Seems AWS wants its CCPs to preach and teach about why AWS is best more than how to best implement best practices. I hope this helps anyone.
