  • In this video I show you how I built the base and mount for the giant wings for my gryphon fursuit. I show all my mistakes and how I changed my idea to succeed. I love how these wings moves and I cannot wait to move on to the next step!

    Note: it's fairly normal for me to scrap work and start over. While it's sometimes embarrassing you absolutely should not feel like a complete failure if it happens. Things like this help us learn and eventually find the right solution. I'm still learning to not beat myself up too, admitting my fails here is helping to desensitize myself to the embarrassment.

      It pleases the eyeballs. When the old intro was suddenly cut short, I was left aghast and bewildered, but then the new one appeared and I was saved from what felt like an eternity of logoless darkness. It was well worth the torment.

      It looks very nice - still has the spoooky monster vibes of the old one, but much more print-friendly (is a sucker for vector art)~

    Here from the link in the pattern! Looks like this is another video I'll need to save in a playlist to watch multiple times.
    I made some con buddies who want me to join a Beast Wars group and I got Terrorsaur!
    After agreeing to the idea, I was afraid of the wings a little and figured I may have to sacrifice some flashiness for creation's sake.... But here you are :)
    Being a robot will definitely help excuse having some exposed hinges, since I'll have to design my chest plate into the base pattern, but I think I can figure it out!

    Word! Someone else who subscribes to Stan Winston's school! Absolutely invaluble resource.
    I'm a pretty seasoned tailor/seamstress and I make cosplay commissions (haven't made a fursuit commission yet, definitely out of my comfort zone but I'm looking to get there) and yeah, making a corset, unless you have a TON of specialty sewing experience, isn't a great idea. It just won't come out right and the boning will likely end up poking through the fabric and stabbing you.
    However, instead of the sweat vest (which is BS by the way, you don't sweat fat lmao) I would've reccomended buying a pre-made corset and modifying it.
    Currently I'm working on my own personal dream cosplay, which is Devil- Homura from Madoka Magica : Rebellion, and let me tell you, trying to figure out a way to attach wings when you're wearing a backless and strapless dress is just tons of fun. But your video has given me some ideas. Thank you@

      Yeah! SWS is great, I subbed for a few years and watch their whole library! I love it.
      That is a good idea, buying a corset and modifying it. I could probably even chat with some corset makers to custom make some details I'd like!
      Oh what a cool character, check out fishmeal cosplay on Instagram, they made some neat wings on a strapless cosplay that originally gave me the idea to use clear acrylic. I think it'll help you a lot. Good luck!

    I like this method a lot. It’s giving me idea for my own dragon, you could even fit smaller replacement wings just into the top section, which replaceable small and large wings is something I wanted to do for her

      Exactly, I want to do an extra set of smaller wings as well. But I have use this method thoigh with just one set of slots to make smaller wings for some dragons before. It definitely works!

    I haven't finished watching the video yet but I really feel you on the Velcro. I was making some cosplay boots out of foam and I used Velcro covering the entire attachment area, and it went so bad. I hadn't glued the pieces yet but I couldn't get them apart without disassembling everything and I had to reduce the amount of Velcro to tiny pieces and even those were pretty strong, but it seems to work so much better now and I can finally glue everything together.

    • @monsterzombun558
      @monsterzombun558 Год назад

      Pulling off the Velcro was mentally painful :') but I managed to save a lot of it by sticking it back on to the backing it originally had so I can reuse it

    Hello! First of all, I like the new logo ^^.
    I've been watching your videos for so long ago... At first I was very young to even try some things, but recently went back to see your videos again to do the eyes of my fursuit! They fit so well and are super cool! 😍 It helped me a lot. I was looking thought your videos and realised you don't have a moving jaw one! I would love to know how you do it since my head has to fit in and still work as a movable jaw😭
    Thanks for all your content!

    If this somehow doesn’t end up working, I’d recommend Neffertity’s pattern and tutorial. They are light and bouncy. The style is toony, thought. But I don’t know if that is what you’re going for in this project.
    Just a suggestion though! So far, they look great, and I’m looking forward to the finished product!

    • @KazplayVideos
      @KazplayVideos  Год назад

      I really do like Neffertity's tutorial, but I wanted a pair of huge wings. Because they're so big, they needed lots of support. I will probably end up making a smaller more convenient to wear pair and take some cues from her tutorial

    Another thing that I've heard people doing is boiling hot water, then dipping the EVA foam in there for a couple seconds. Then they take it out, shape it, then run it under cold water so it takes its form

    • @KazplayVideos
      @KazplayVideos  Год назад

      That will work too! Though it will probably be unwieldy to do that for large pieces of Eva foam, the heat gun does the job quite well

    Is there potentially a way to have the “fingers” of dragon wings adjustable in a base pattern like this?

    • @KazplayVideos
      @KazplayVideos  Год назад

      Possibly? I would try making the fingers out coat hanger wire so you could pose them. Or there are some mechanical articulated wing designs out there if you want to go that route

      @@KazplayVideos interesting! Do you think there’s a mechanism you can make similar to how to hinged hoggers legs and make it posable like that if you screwed some bolts tight enough? Ive been trying to find a way to make my wings big but moving and posable.
