  • Hogger got a facelift! hope you like all the new additions and improvements to him, I sure do! but Blizzcon was a tough one for me this year, but I'm not giving up what I love doing so easily. I love cosplaying, it fills me with so much joy to create things that I'm passionate about.

    Man I'm so glad I found this channel I remember the hogger cosplay when it first debuted and I was AWE STUCK. hoggers craftsmanship was amazing. I don't know why more people aren't here because out of all of the cosplayers, fur suit makers, semesters? and crafters I watch out there, this is some of the best handy work, problem solving and building I've ever seen and I cant wait to see more! I'm glad your working on helping yourself get better and I hope things continue to go well for you!

    Glad to see you fielded Hogger for another round!
    This brings me back to Blizzcon 2018 where i got to see Hogger in person. Large cosplay issues are a unique variety, I've encountered many of them myself. The DVA Mech was also front heavy so it required consant strain to stay upright.
    To share a silly Blizzcon 2018 story: We were running late for the cosplay contest and in a mad rush to get back from the Mythic stage. By this point my legs were jello from wearing the digitgrade stilts all day and we had to get down to the main level. Thankfully security cleared the way through the complex and even unlocked a freight elevator to get down from the second floor. After the fast travel and emergency stilt repairs I got on stage and nearly blacked out XD
    I totally get the challenges of fielding these suits. Still, I recon that it's these parts that make the cosplay memorable!

    God speed recovery kazul 💪🏻💙 I'm really glad you had time to upgrade hogger! Really like how you generally use monster clay for the measurements 😁

      Thanks! It's not something that can be cured but I will do my best managing it for the rest of my life.
      Monster Clay is the best and it genuinely is an essential part of my creative process!

    Best part of this video was hearing you’re doing better! I hope you get to have fun doing things you love again :D
    I’ve recently been fiddling with scaling up patterns and have run into that exact problem with the thickness of the material versus measurements. I’d love to see a video with more detail on your method and I’ll give a shot to measuring down just a tad on the scaled up patterns. Thanks so much for all the tips and tricks!

    • @KazplayVideos
      @KazplayVideos  4 месяца назад +2

      Thank you! Yeah it's a tricky problem, so I didn't so much just scale it a tad smaller, I took a half in off the outside edge of all pattern pieces. Much like the "offset path" function in Illustrator. It is different than just scaling the whole thing in. and I will definitely dedicate a video to just that in the future, it's a topic I love diving into!

    Good to have a full update from you, Kazul! The discussion surrounding the EVA foam sizing issue is so interesting and something I've also struggled with for the past few years and came to the same conclusion as you have... The density of the foam makes it an entirely new issue as well. The new build looks amazing, it really shows how you've grown as an artist. Take care.

    • @KazplayVideos
      @KazplayVideos  4 месяца назад

    sounds like when you do your arms with 10mm foam you can't think of it as a layer, but more of a 3d piece with an inner diameter and outer diameter. Wonder what your measurements would be if you put the "ruler" on both sides of the 10mm foam and used the inside "ruler".

    • @KazplayVideos
      @KazplayVideos  4 месяца назад

      That's a good question because foam does squash and stretch, more and less depending on the density and thickness. So you see why it's a complex issue haha

    Great video I like the lessons learned and tips! Thanks for being open and real also. Don't feel sorry for lack of content/frequency you don't owe us anything! Very relative to the physical and psychological issues you are dealing with i highly highly recommend the book "The Myth of Normal" by Gabbor Maté MD give it a listen it's life changing. I have always adored your Hogger cosplay, despite not knowing anything about where he came from. The costume is incredible on so many levels, physically, artistically, technically. Explaining your process and problems is a gold mine. The original videos showing how to keep the bulk of the weight of the suit off your body and the under-structure of the muscles is one of my favourite ah-ha moments as a fellow maker. I was hit with another this time when you mentioned how small changes to your body have made massive differences in how the suit is worn.
    Your comment about not having enough time to do another costume and then starting to revamp this one made me chuckle though. It doesn't matter how much time you have, I swear, you're going to end up in the back of your car outside the convention center with a needle and thread desperately trying to finish something, every single time. Glad to see it get some love and attention though, he looks incredible and the sound effects were definitely the final piece needed to bring him fully to life.
    Lots of love for your husband too, what a great helper and handler!
