I definitely want to try some butterfly/moth wings. I think just having them open and close like butterflies do is probably a good beginner friendly attempt at mechanical wings.
this is EXACTLY what i was looking for, you explain the mechanics of different motors in such a simple way AND relating to the thing i want to use it for 😭 thank you!
My older sister wanted to make these wigs when she was 10, but she didn't know how. Since me and my sister always try to be nice to each other, I am trying to make her these wings. Thanks a lot for the tutorial!
Great video! Moving wings are one of the hardest things to do, especially if you want them to have multiple degrees of freedom. Understanding leverage ratios is probably the most important thing.
Looking around for tips on my Murder Drones cosplay, but most of the tutorials deal with lots and lots of feathers and organic movement which I’m not going for. This helps so much! Thank you!
I'm out to make my first wings, and this was such a helpful video! I didn't know where to start, or what people did to get them to move, and now I do. Thank you!
I found this after going to my first ren faire and deciding I needed to heavily upgrade my character. I was searching and scrounging the internet for literally anything to aid me in making a pair of mechanical wings, and I’m glad I found your channel. I cant wait to get up some money and get to work, cause I’m planning on making horned owl wings for my character. Thank you for this video!!
Great work sir! I'm not into cosplay myself but I know about it and love to see all the wild and brilliant things people come up with, such as your wings in this video. I'm currently and quickly running out of time trying to build my daughter a set of dragon wings for Halloween (searching diy mechanical wings brought me to your channel) and this video help shed some light on what to look for with controller parts. Thank you!
you can also make your wings and calculate it or guess it in which case you don'y even need to build them first. you can use the N value and divide it by 10 if you plan to use the wings on earth. then you have the weight they can lift, so 500N would be equal to just over 50kg, so if you can move the wings manually 500N will probably be enough, the N value can be compared to someone dead lifting a weight of 50k in the case of a 500N motor. in your case compare it to what weight/force it would take to pull the lever or rope, or push the lever to open the wings and keep a little of playground to be sure, especially if you are guessing.
This is so helpful! Thank you. Showing the different types of wing shapes was really great too. The ones I’m looking to make are more butterfly like and don’t fold outwards but I would still like them to move from a resting position like a cape and move upwards into butterfly position. It might be a bit ambitious but I want to try!
Hey Zibratas You inspired me to make my own mechanical wings and I thank you for that, though I don't know which is the fastest linear actuator or stroke can you help me out
I found your video while looking for a way to move angel wings. Thanks for your hard work in making this video and sharing it. This is close to what I am looking for. I'd like to figure out how to make the wings move automatically and continuously (perhaps to music). I am working on a Christmas angel choir for a holiday yard display. Any thoughts/suggestions are most appreciated!
I have an idea: what about wings that shake like a humming bird? It wouldn’t be closing or flapping, just shaking. I haven’t seem anything like that. It would have multiple layers and looks similar to fairy wings. Any tips?
Very interested in making some reasonably small dragon wings - but I’m completely lost when it comes to attaching the linear device to a power source and to some kind of button/trigger… any help for a complete newbie 😅?
Dónde, que material recomiendas para que sean lo menos pesadas posible? quiero hacer una similares, sin el motor , que estén fijas, pero no sé que material usar, sería genial si respondes mi comentario :c, gracias
Is there a way to make it for one wing? I've been searching everywhere but cannot find it :'3 still your videos have given me some insight, if someone knows or has seen something of just one wing I would love to know about it
I think if you get a couple of servos with mounting brackets as these, you could bolt them to a plate of your choosing fairly easily, and attach the wings to the moving parts, of course. I think that's the simplest way to go :) www.aliexpress.com/item/32645417076.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.7efe23b7xzlYqu&algo_pvid=c4e8e9dd-5dda-4747-b038-92c47dbccede&algo_expid=c4e8e9dd-5dda-4747-b038-92c47dbccede-9&btsid=0bb0624616050122888097638e9ed5&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_
Hello, im definitely wanting to make some wings and I want to use servos to make the wings flap. I just don't know anything about servos or coding, is there a tutorial that you have or that you recommend?
I’m making some cybernetic wings and I’m using a Linear Actuator but I’m stuck on what to use for a power source. It says to use a 12v battery but I don’t know too much about batteries and the 12v ones I seen seem to be too large.
Great to see your vid again. I have some ideas on a Jeepers Creepers, out of the back of the coat (wings) that are almost full size, but doing Mothman first. Will go w/a remote control set up. I read that when two actuators hooked up together, that one will be slower than the other??? Damn! lol Now, I'm thinking about Servos instead. One in the middle to winch down the wings wide via cable (from vertical, walking position) and one on each 'elbow' to open them up, but still angled down at the tips like the white Mothman image on a black T-shirt that is popular, often seen. Wings will be arc'd forward like the image. Any tips from the most advanced articulated wing maker??
Oh, the cable pulling would go up thru an eyelet, then wide to a pulley ea. side and anchored to ea. tube up about 5 - 8". A long coiled door spring would keep them together in the vert position. Or one vert actuator and no spring? ha ha - brainstorming here...
given the cosplay you have done, your next project should be the human god-emperor from the 40k universe your experience with making the halo should come in handy
Im trying to make a similar set of wings to yours. What was the coding that you used for the wings? I cant seem to figure out how to code all the components I have (linear actuator, dc motor, limit switch, and garage clicker). Any help from anyone would be greatly apprecieated
It's quite a complicated project - if I were you, I'd try to come up with an arduino sketch for each feature, and try to combine them, once I know all the parts of the code work individually :)
I definitely want to try some butterfly/moth wings. I think just having them open and close like butterflies do is probably a good beginner friendly attempt at mechanical wings.
Servos would be ideal for that! Butterfly wings would be light enough to move quite fast, too!
@zzac1an I am... evolving
I dont know why you are so underrated
No one asked
@@sbush5279 it's a compliment, don't be a jerk
nah facts this is insane
YOU ARE ONE OF THE MOST UNDERRATED COSPLAY RUclipsR EVER

That halo design on the head is GENIOUS.
this vid really helped me with my cosplay wings :D The wings are ''lower back angel wings'' and your tips really helped me- thank you
I'm out to make my first wings, and this was such a helpful video! I didn't know where to start, or what people did to get them to move, and now I do. Thank you!

Yooo! I’m gonna do this for my murder drones cosplay for Halloween!!
omg I love this video! One of my new years resolutions its to go back to cosplay and i want something amazing, now i know what i want to do!!! Thanks!

Most underrated channel ever.
This is so incredibly helpful! thank you and I hope this channel blows up because It Absolutely deserves to!
tysm! I hope this will help me with my philza minecraft cosplay!
Hey that's why I was looking too!
These are sick! They remind me of a disassembly drones wings
Im making butterfly wings for my aponia (hi3) cosplay performance next year. This will be a long endeavor so thank you :)

Ultrakill ahh wings
He's not underrated no more MARK MY WORDS IM SIT AND LEARN FROM HIM AND MEET HIM ONE DAY
yo you taught me a lot more then some of the other videos i looks at on how to make wing. so thank you
This was super helpful! I’ve been wanting wings for a while so thx for teaching me how to make them!
This is awesome I'm gonna cosplay Hawks for Halloween I wanna go all out with the wings with my dads help though
Thanks for the video i really enjoyed and i uderstand a little more about this!!
I'm gonna add this to Playlist to make it
Any tutorial videos from start to finish for the wings?, how to make and light them?
This man deserves a like
I’m currently making dragon wings with scale mail. And this gives me some good idea’s 😊
it's him, JC Jenson.
Im watching this video 3 years after it has been released and just after Halloween lol
Thanks for the basic, it was a good point to start
Hey Zibratas
You inspired me to make my own mechanical wings and I thank you for that, though I don't know which is the fastest linear actuator or stroke can you help me out
Great video! I subscribed right away! 👌🏻

These are so useful and entertaining!
Glad you think so! :D It's nice hearing that my vid was useful! :D
i really hate seeing underated cosplay youtubers here you go a sub
I have an idea: what about wings that shake like a humming bird? It wouldn’t be closing or flapping, just shaking. I haven’t seem anything like that. It would have multiple layers and looks similar to fairy wings. Any tips?
Does this cover how to make the harness in the video?
I’ve been watching video after video and you are AMAZING. So underrated please keep up the great work, you have a new Sub!!
Perfect for cosplays for halloween😳
And just like that, Mercy's wing-jet-pack-thing suddenly isnt even that unrealistic anymore
Mmmm animatronic chicken wings. 🤤
Nice video, my dude! I learnt a lot, thanks for sharing!
Very interested in making some reasonably small dragon wings - but I’m completely lost when it comes to attaching the linear device to a power source and to some kind of button/trigger… any help for a complete newbie 😅?
johnny silverhand makes channel shine in this cyberdays ;)
How can I buy the motor that moves the wings? Can you give me the link?
Thanks so much. Do you have recommendations on quiet motors...the ones I've seen for this, are just noisy.
Dónde, que material recomiendas para que sean lo menos pesadas posible? quiero hacer una similares, sin el motor , que estén fijas, pero no sé que material usar, sería genial si respondes mi comentario :c, gracias
Thanks for the video! Been wanting to try this out but jumping into the complicated wings has been scary.
ooo! you were in the gaming/cosplay episode Melvin Kakooza did for TV2. I recognize the wings! (and your face and voice hehe)
Is it possible to make them folding? For hawks. I would like to hide the back plate under his jacket and attach the wings through the holes 👉👈
I know I'm late to the party. But that would be so fire for a music video. If you were to sell it. How much would it cost
Thank you for going trough all of this so that we dont have to 😭💖
Is there a way to make it for one wing? I've been searching everywhere but cannot find it :'3 still your videos have given me some insight, if someone knows or has seen something of just one wing I would love to know about it
I'm super curious with garage door opener
i would really like to learn more about powering and controlling the linear actuators
Hi I was just wondering if you had any recommendations when it comes to mounting or the back plate? Thank you!
Can i order like that even a smaller one for my daughter?
How would you go about making it quiet?
Is there a way to not only have them go up and down but also have them flap
Now do Kerrigan Queen of Blades’ wings!!
Nice explanation, can't wait for the next tutorial!! Ah can you make tutorial for butterfly wings? They moving open and close.
I guess it would be the mounting part that's tricky?
Guess it is >.

Thanks for the advice :DD gonna try that
Hello, im definitely wanting to make some wings and I want to use servos to make the wings flap. I just don't know anything about servos or coding, is there a tutorial that you have or that you recommend?
How would you go about making wings that both move outwards, but also forwards? Like Mother Miranda from RE8, for reference
*WAR WITHOUT REASON STARTS PLAYING*
Hello. How was the connections of servos and linear actuator into the arduino? Thank you so much
great vid! what mic are you using
Hi There, I just want to know to use the bird wings style for a school project to be operated manually. Can you guide here or so
I’m having trouble finding a good battery for the linear actuator do you know a good one ?
Hi! I don’t know if you will see this but I was wondering what stroke did you use in the linear motor? 🤗
These were 50mm stroke motors :)
Great video dude, keep up the good work!
Thank you Captain!!!!
Do u use 25kg with linear actuator or...?
I’m making some cybernetic wings and I’m using a Linear Actuator but I’m stuck on what to use for a power source. It says to use a 12v battery but I don’t know too much about batteries and the 12v ones I seen seem to be too large.
How much will you charge me to have a wings like that because i need it for my costume.. thank you
can you explain how you made your halo? (min.3:40). Thy for the video, it helped a lot.
Really you need a mixture of mechanical via a motor and gas for instantaneous deployment and using motors to retract. looks good though.. Well done.
These are awesome!
Wait is that nephtis from zone of the Enders?
Truly amazing work! God bless 🙌
is there a way to make them fold behind you (like a sandwich) instead of open and close like they typically do?
Yes but quite hard and takes practice
How much for the wings you where wearing
Great to see your vid again. I have some ideas on a Jeepers Creepers, out of the back of the coat (wings) that are almost full size, but doing Mothman first. Will go w/a remote control set up. Wow this is freaking amazing. I am also building Ironman mark 42 suit and I am documenting the whole built process. Do you wanna see it? Lol
given the cosplay you have done, your next project should be the human god-emperor from the 40k universe
your experience with making the halo should come in handy
I wish i have one of that cool wing

WHAT MECCANO DO U USE!
FINALLY AFTER 30 MORE MINUTES OF SEARCHING I THINK I FINNALY FOUUUNNNDDD ITTTTT🎉!
Waooo it use battery?
I'm making my first pair of wings and there hawks wings and the size is 11ft and 5in this kinda helped but not very much
The chicken wings is my favorite 😂
Right after Halloween don’t you mean before next Halloween
Im trying to make a similar set of wings to yours. What was the coding that you used for the wings? I cant seem to figure out how to code all the components I have (linear actuator, dc motor, limit switch, and garage clicker). Any help from anyone would be greatly apprecieated

For a How To, there wasn't much How to in this.
If you add gliding capability I want
i really want to make dragon wings and i already have pvc pipes but im broke and i could not find a good tutorial before this
