Foreigner is one the greatest rock bands of all time. Lou Gramm is mind blowing. You guys are embarking on an amazing journey with this band. They easily have 20 bangers.
In the 70's great hits, brilliant albums really did grow on trees. It was so musically overflowing that I am not sure we fully appreciated the richness of it all, but I can say that in the decades since I have fully embraced the 70's. Foreigner were a mind blowing force that swept through my life in the late 70's and can still make me feel as if I am hearing their music for the first time. Thanks.
Foreigner is a great British-American rock band who started in 1976. They had a lot of great hits such as "Cold As Ice", “Hot Blooded”, "Urgent", "Juke Box Hero", "Waiting For A Girl Like You", "Double Vision", "Blue Morning, Blue Day", "Dirty White Boy", "Head Games", "Break It Up", "That Was Yesterday", "Say You Will", "I Don't Want To Live Without You" etc.
@@JohnnyLaps For you...certainly not me and millions of others. They've been my favorite band from the moment I heard their debut album when it was released during my junior year of high school.
I saw Foreigner the first time with the Double Vision tour, I was standing 12 feet in front of Lou Gramm, one of the best concerts ever, my ears rang for two days. Just FYI, Lou is considered one of the best rock singers ever, I think you will come around once you hear more if his and Foreigner's work.
Why do you hear some of "Yes" in the keys? Mick Jones, the founding member of Foreigner was a member of Spooky Tooth, and the rhythm guitarist Ian McDonald, was in King Crimson, both bands known as "Progressive Rock" or Prog Rock. So you get that influence. Lead Singer, Lou Graham, Lead Guitarist, Mick Jones, Bassist, Ed Gagliardi, Keyboardist Al Greenwood, Rhythm Guitar & Sax, Ian McDonald & last, but not least, Dennis Elliott on drums. You can probably tell I'm a huge fan of theirs, lol
The use of these keyboards and various other instruments used in the 60's, 70's, and 80's, is what made Rock, Classic Rock and, all heavier music back in the day, in those eras, the GREATEST MUSIC EVER PRODUCED and played. Straight up! This junk today and over the last 20 - 25 yrs doesn't even deserve to be called "Music", imho. Keep up the great work/channel, guys!
"I've been waiting for a girl like you" will always be my favorite song because the love of my life sang it for me in front of all our friends when he proposed to me. It didn't work out but I appreciated the effort! He turned out to be a total jerk!!! Loving your posts!!!
They definitely were not prog rock, but Ian McDonald did bring in those weird unexpected bits like the bridge in this or songs like "starrider". When he left in 1980, they went for a much more straightforward sound with songs like , "urgent" and " nightlife". Not a bad thing, but I missed having that one guy in the band who was much more avante-garde than the other members
Foreigner: Feels like the First Time. My favorite!!! Like Head Games 1979, of course ALL Hits on the 4 album in 1981. Urgent, Waiting for a Girl like you, Break it Up, Jukebox Hero, etc. Just listen and blog it. Such a change in style from their first hit Feels like the First Time.
Awesome tune as are Damage Is Done, Headknocker, Starrider, and I Need You....and of course the three hits(FLTFT, Cold As Ice, and Long Long Way From Home)....all from their self-titled debut album which rocked my world when it was released towards the end of my junior year of high school.
Ty is really enjoying this song. I remember hearing this song in high school during our gym class back in the day. Foreigner has so many hits. Listen to "Urgent". It has a great saxophone solo; It won't disappoint.
Y'all this is vintage late 70's hard rock at its best!! Can remember this like it was yesterday playing in the summer of '77. Awesome era for entertainment across the board!!!
Foreigner has such a unique blend of prog-rock and gospel influences, and they have some incredible vocalists. I thought I'd make another suggestion to give a listen to a band I believe you've reacted to before " Boz Scaggs-Look What You've Done To Me" I'm looking forward to hearing what Ty sounds like singing along to this one 😉💜🎸🎶
This is just a straight banger, maybe their best song (if not their best known). And In a category where there was lots of competition (Steve Perry, Ann Wilson from Heart, Steve Walsh from Kansas) he may well have been the best American rock singer of the 70s/early 80s
Great that you guys called out the historical connection of some of the members of Foreigner to the band King Crimson. That group has an incredibly rich catalog of music. I'd recommend starting out an exploration of what they have to offer by checking out the epic, prog-rock classic track titled "21st Century Schizoid Man" off of their 1969 debut album "In the Court of the Crimson King". That particular piece is well recognized as a premier example of "what rock music could be", given that it was put in appropriately skilled and inspired hands. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed!!!
Absolutely one of my favorite bands!! This song, Cold as Ice, Head Games, Jukebox Hero!!...best songs ever!! Still listen to Foreigner 4 almost every day!!
And now Mark is asking for everyone to cast their vote to FINALLY get Foreigner into the RRHOF. They're currently in 2nd place(behind Ozzy) in the fan voting and they're starting to pull away from Frampton and gaining ground on Ozzy as they've whittled his lead from 21K to just under 16K in less than a week.
I have been foaming at the mouth waiting for the three of you to start doing some Foreigner. I am thrilled that you finally got there. They are not groundbreaking in any way, but they are consistent. Mick Jones is a great musician and in my opinion Lou Gramm has one of the two or three best voices in all of rock history, which you will probably discover as you go forward.
That first album is fire. My favorite song from that album is a deep cut, "Headknocker", but a bunch come close to it. Lou Graham's vocals sound a lot like Paul Rogers of Free and Bad Company. "Long, Long Way from Home" was an early hit but not mentioned as much as the others that came later--was developed more by Ian McDonald so has a nice sax line.
King Crimson is one of those prog bands that lots of musicians name-check. Several what would be all-star lineups Robert Fripp, Greg Lake, Bill Bruford, John Wetton, Mel Collins, and later with Tony Levin, Adrian Belew and laterTrey Gunn. "In the Court of the Crimson King", "One More Red Nightmare", then the 80's with Adrian Belew - "Sleepless", "Elephant Talk", "Thela Hun Jingeet", "Neal and Jack and Me". Worth the checking out. Also, Robert Fripp's Sunday Lunch RUclipss with his wife, Toyah Wilcox, are simply lots of fun to watch. Crimson still tours. Caught them a few months ago in Scottsdale. Great band.
I grew up listening to Foreigner. They are fantastic. You probably all know I Want To Know What Love Is. I can never listen to it just once. ❤ BTW, love the new setup. 😊
Foreigner has so many classics. They also have some under the radar great songs, like: Starrider, The Damage is Done, Rev on the Red Line, and Lonely Children. Take the journey.
This was pretty much standard radio rock back in the day. Of course it was a well written, well played song as so many were in the AOR era. This group has a lot of hits and lots of great deep cuts too.
This is an edited version. Been coming across edited versions recently. But another fun reaction, guys. Y'all never disappoint. Your Foreigner spree will be worthwhile.
I think there are many who would say that the bridge and the synth is the heart of this song. But, you may have needed to experienced that era when you would bought an album and then go home and listen to it every day for 3 months (or more). The commercial juggernaut that is the chorus, though, has overshadowed our collective memories almost completely.
Back when this album came out, I was a top 40's listener. Probably due to laziness (not wanting to get up and change the record), I listened to an entire side one day and realized that everything on there was fantastic!! Same with second side!! To this day, I cannot think of another album (other than a greatest hits) of any band where every. damn. song. was so enjoyable. Welcome to Foreigner!! Buckle up and enjoy the ride.
OMG, goes back to my first boyfriend in 1976! Wow! That song set me off on such an amazing journey with Foreigner. Please consider "Hot Blooded", "Waiting For A Girl Like You", "Double Vision", "Dirty White Boy", "Head Games", and "That Was Yesterday"!
After hearing their song 'I wanna know what love is' which really highlights Lou Gramm's vocals in my opinion, I wanted to hear him sing with John Farnham. John has a wider vocal range but I think their voices would sound great together. Yeah that bridge really gave me the Stranger Things vibe!
He can absolutely sing!
Not just the hits Foreigner has great songs top to bottom. My favorite tune from debut Long Long Way from Home.
Long, Long Way from Home and Blue Morning Blue Day.
FOREIGNER is one of the best bands!! My teenage yrs were all about FOREIGNER.😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Foreigner is one the greatest rock bands of all time. Lou Gramm is mind blowing. You guys are embarking on an amazing journey with this band. They easily have 20 bangers.
It sounds great and this song was one of those "Our Song(s)" ..............next, Foreigner's "I Wanna Know What Love Is" Lou has so much soul
Lou Gramm’s voice is 🔥
I 💯 agree with you I love his voice
I love even Lou’s music…like Midnight Blue
Here is another great song by Foreigner is Cold as Ice
This band exploded into relevance and stayed there. Fantastic band.
In the 70's great hits, brilliant albums really did grow on trees. It was so musically overflowing that I am not sure we fully appreciated the richness of it all, but I can say that in the decades since I have fully embraced the 70's. Cold as Ice!!!!!
COLD AS ICE from the same album IS FIRE!!!
Other Foreigner head bangers to check out: Urgent, Head Games, Cold As Ice, Double Vision, Jukebox Hero
These songs are a revelation
Don't forget Dirty White Boy!
Definitely need to hear urgent -- love foreigner and this is one of my favorites
The guy in the middle cracks me up with his expressions. 😂
Waves at Dagmar. How many reactors do we have in common? Three comes to mind, but it could be more.
Add Long Long Way From Home and I want To Know What Love Is.
The put the bore in boring
Urgent is probably my favorite by them. Who doesn't love that sax solo?!
@@JohnnyLaps For you...certainly not me and millions of others. They've been my favorite band from the moment I heard their debut album when it was released during my junior year of high school.
Can't believe it took this long to play Foreigner, Cold as Ice should be next ! Seen them twice.
'' Cold as Ice '' is a must ❤❤❤
More Foreigner PLEASE!!!
I love Foreigner, great band. My favorite song is "Dirty White Boy" it rocks!
My little dog Luigi is a Maltese, always sing Dirty White Boy to him!
I can’t, 😏Gramm has one of the best rock voices ever. Juke box hero is a must.
I was just thinking of foreigner! My youth for sure 🎉
I saw Foreigner the first time with the Double Vision tour, I was standing 12 feet in front of Lou Gramm, one of the best concerts ever, my ears rang for two days. REAL ROCK GENTLEMEN - Brilliant

Long long way from home.
And again a great reaction to a great band.......

Juke Box Hero, Urgent, Cold as Ice, Hot Blooded...so many good songs!

This band is a gem in rock history
Massive attack - Angel. Really interested to see what you guys would think about that amazing song. Love your channel!

Their song At War With The World is a must. Mick Jones is a major musical genius.

Perfect first choice for Foreigner. It was their first hit, soon thereafter followed by Cold As Ice in the summer of ‘77.
I still think Cold as Ice is one of the greatest "f*ck off", end of relationship songs ever written, right up there with "Sail On."

It sounds awesome!
Blue Morning, Blue Day...
Foreigner… great concert 1978!!
Nights in White Satin By the Moody Blues ...this is considered a true masterpiece written by the singer when he was nineteen You'll love the ending
Seen these guys live in 1985. Unbelievable concert. Great band. Lots of great songs. Lou Gramm has a incredible voice!
They are nothing without him.
They were Rangers fans too. “Double Vision” was inspired by a head injury to goaltender John Davidson in the late 70s.
And Ryan might like the Elvis Costello & the Attractions version of "Shipbuilding" - nice brass :)

Mick Jones is Mark Ronson's step father. Ronson said he learnt how a studio worked by going there when he was a kid.
And now Mark is asking for everyone to cast their vote to FINALLY get Foreigner into the RRHOF. Memories roller skating comes to mind! Cool jams and yes they do a lot of ballads this band can rock!😊🫶🎸☀️🙏
"They pull you in....you know the riff....you know the melody....you know the bassline!"....this basically describes every Foreigner song!
Great debut song from Foreigner. I remember the first time I heard this back in the Summer of 1977. Great band.
“Juke Box Hero”, “Blue Morning, Blue Day”, “Long, Long Way From Home” and “That Was Yesterday” are my favorites.
BEGINNING TO END! DO IT! LISTEN TO IT! Born in '62. I know!
From that album - Starrider - worth to check out. Personal favorite of mine from Foreigner ❤
Feels like the first time that I reacted to your reaction. Can't go wrong with this band. They're hot!
This is one of my favorite Foreigner songs, along with I’ve Been Waiting for a Girl Like You.
"Waiting For A Girl Like You" is one of my favorite songs of all time.
Juke Box Hero is another banger of theirs!
One of the great rock voices.

rock 'n roll
Saw them in Portland OR in 1978, Molly Hatchet opened. Freaking awesome concert! They both killed it!
This song is undeniably awesome.
Sounds great.
70s Foreigner is my favorite era from them
Loved them when they first came out and still do! Thanks for the memories!

I hear you clearly, Nick!!!
Lou Gramm - Rochester (Gates, actually) NY native 🙂
Love Foreigner!
Solid singer!
I was 11 years old when this came out, I remember going ice skating every Friday night and this song would play. Good times, I love 70's music!
This song featured in the film 'I,Tonya',about ice skating.
I grew up listening to Foreigner. They are fantastic. You probably all know I Want To Know What Love Is. I can never listen to it just once. ❤ BTW, love the new setup. 😊
One of my favorite groups of all time. Thanks for this reaction, and I hope more are to come!
they were huge back in the day....every highschool boyfriend, every breakup...thru college, too. 🤣🥰
Foreigner has so many classics. They also have some under the radar great songs, like: Starrider, The Damage is Done, Rev on the Red Line, and Lonely Children. Take the journey.

So right. Friendly intro/outro, mid-tempo, car speaker dynamics, and arena ready.
Sounds great! (Hoping the next one might be Cold as Ice!)
Foreigner always a top choice for me at a party, bar, or at home. Great reaction! ❤️
Thanks, Ty! Thanks, Nick! Thanks, Ryan! 🎙 The new microphones sound great. #ViewsFromThe502 #FeelsLikeTheFirstTime #Foreigner

I'm back in high school when I hear this song. This Is The Way!
“Say You Will, Say You Won’t”……great song from Foreigner…..check it out.
My first song by Foreigner was this one. The rest are bonuses! Y'all will really like them.
Got damn these boys were huge. 16 Top 40 hits, 9 of them Top 10.
IT SOUNDS AWESOME YOU GUYS, NICE AND CLEAR, GREAT VOLUME AND CLARITY, NIIIICCCEEE! 😊 THIS WAS THE VERYYYYY 1ST FOREIGNER SONG! 😊
Back when this album came out, I was a top 40's listener. Probably due to laziness (not wanting to get up and change the record), I listened to an entire side one day and realized that everything on there was fantastic!! Same with second side!! One of my favorite songs!
AND THE 2ND SONG WAS ALSO A MAJORRRR HUGE HIT GUYS! 😊 COLD AS ICE
Juke Box Hero is my favorite
Great start. Lou Gramm is phenomenal
Song makes me feel 16 again...ahhh...the 70s!
Great classic here love you guys
Do "Urgent" next. I love the sax riff in it.
hidden gem... "Rev on the Red Line", off the Head Games album. Enjoy watching your reactions.
Try "Blue Morning, Blue Day"
sound is great guys
