    You might want to try brown packaging paper for your offloads, they make great collage pieces 😊

    That bubble wrap pull would look great with some Paynes grey on it either as a gel pull or directly painted.

    Does acrylic fluid paint work for collage? i could watch and listen to you all day long!

    • @PaintedPaperStudio
      @PaintedPaperStudio  Год назад +1

      Hi Annette - what a fabulous comment to wake up to! Thank you so much for being here, and I am thrilled that the videos are connecting with you 🥰. Yes, fluid acrylics do work in collage, however, if the item you are trying to apply is chunky, uneven or heavy, I would use a thicker gel medium. 👍🏼

  • @RobinGayl

    Loved seeing how you picked up and moved the stencil around the plate to create texture. I have a lot of smaller texture and text type stencils that I would like to use but I wasn't sure how to use them on a plate that was larger than the stencils but now I know :-). Thank you!
    Question- is it possible to cut away the frame/border of a stencil to make it more like a mask? Or can you get as interesting effects with stencils as with masks?

    • @PaintedPaperStudio
      @PaintedPaperStudio  11 месяцев назад +1

      Robin, you absolutely could cut away the borders of a stencil if you only want to use it as a mask. I think both stencils and masks make incredible textures! 💜

    I am enjoying getting to know you through your work here on youtube! Two observations that might help your videos--put some kind of anti-skid material under your plate so it doesn't move around so much and, when pulling a large piece of paper from the plate, try pulling it at a slight angle (like when you remove tape that you have used to mask on a wall) and it will come away a bit easier (not full-proof but it helps). I really like the way you encourage playfulness in your demos. Not being afraid to make mistakes is a good way to learn--especially for beginners, but more experienced people can benefit from it too! Continued good luck with your channel!

    • @PaintedPaperStudio

      Hi Nick, thank you for watching. If you are just starting with a gel plate, I would start with a smaller plate - maybe a 5x7" or 8x10" plate. Other than that, just make sure you have a brayer, some paper and a couple of colors to use. I don't work with oils, so I haven't experimented with them on the plate yet, but there are few other artists on RUclips who have created gel prints using oils and oil sticks. Good luck with it, and I hope you enjoy gel printing as much as I do. 🤗

    What is your gel plate sitting on? I like the way it holds and is clear? Total newbie here. Most of my supplies are still in cellophane! I am going to try working off the gel plate and pulling a print with what's left. THANKS for the inspiration.

    • @PaintedPaperStudio
      @PaintedPaperStudio  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Myrna! Yes, that is a sheet of plexiglass, and it makes pulling prints so easy because it provides leverage. It's amazing how much suction there can be between the paper, the paint, and the gel plate! 🥰

    Do you use newsprint in your work? When I think of it, all I think about is all the yellowing/browning pads that I have. Seems very unstable

    • @PaintedPaperStudio
      @PaintedPaperStudio  Год назад +2

      Hi Sue - yes, I use newsprint sometimes...a lot, actually 😀. I don't worry about it yellowing or even holding up when I use it. When I choose newsprint as my paper choice, I'm usually not going to use it in a work that I want to be archival quality. But for playing, experimenting, and the price, nothing beats newsprint.
