- How to Check & Add Coolant Level in Toyota Rav4 2013 2014 2015 2016. This step by step guide to resetting maintenance light in Toyota rav4.
Toyota Genuine Coolant: amzn.to/320k89E
Mine is low as well…question is, what could cause low fluid ?
Am I burning coolant? I don’t have leaked. Where else does it go?
I don't think you mentioned to only add coolant to a cold engine. And the full mark on the dip-stick for engine oil is the full level when the engine is at operating temperature.
Thanks! I should have mentioned that.
One year shelf life? Think about it. New coolant is good for five years or 50,000 miles if it's the Toyota Super Long Life coolant. Do you really expect me to believe that coolant that's on a shelf isn't also good for five years...?
Once it's opened it's 1-year shelf life. that's what Toyota told me.
@@diysave1136 I think his point is that the coolant must have much longer shelf life than 1-year once its opened. Your coolant is obviously opened when it sits INSIDE your engine and we all know that it sits in the engine for much longer than 1 year and does so just fine.
In my RAV4 2020 it’s been 4years & run 21000 miles the level is still in the middle (indicator full & low) & the coolant is the same pink same the brand so is it expired..?
Thanks man. I forgot to ask the shop to top my reservoir off. Figured I’ll keep a gallon on hand and do it myself when needed.
Apparently I also have been running on low, same level as shown here. I also have the same oil stain all over the front of the motor from that pressure switch thing..
there is a black plastic plug in the reservoir fill hole that provents me from putting a funnel in it
Thanks for the video. By the way, did you ever change/flush the whole coolant in your RAV4? I have 2015 and thinking about it. Thanks in advance.
That's on the list. Will make the video soon.
After 1000 videos this one really help me …thank you
Coolant leaks from that back spout for me when I add some with a funnel.
I wanna know why you didn’t add the coolant via the other radiator cap.
That fluid doesn’t last forever
Thanks for that. Very helpful.
Thank you. Very helpful!
Hey, thanks for the video! Mine is a bit lower than Low level; and mechanic for some reason told me I need to change it all together, because I haven't for couple years.
What would you suggest? Should just add more to it? (I don't have same liquid) OR, if not, how to drain whatever is in there?
You should drain and refill at 100k/10yrs. I have not done and I am due for it. There are plenty of videos out there on RUclips.
Thank you for this,.
Is it ok if I add the yellow one to Rav 4 2016. I did it before watching your video LOL
If they are same type , then yes.
Where did you buy the pink coolant?
From the Toyota dealership.
How was your tank, engine and everything running after this video?
My reservoir was also that low
I just hit 100k on this car... Runs still like brand new. I hope this helps! let me know if you have still any questions.
Thank you. Very helpful
What happens if you overfill the coolant level? Do I need to do anything?
If you are above the max line, then I would take the turkey baster and remove some.
So the fluid does not need to be changed
Its good idea to change once at 100k. Mine is 108k now and I have not changed it lol
How much is that coolant?
$30
Thanks sir
How to drain?
Does the coolant evaporate/ escape from that vent on back of the reservoir over time?
It should not for new cars unless there is leak somewhere in the system ( again that requires troubleshooting). You may want to keep checking levels after you fill it up for next couple weeks to make sure there is no leak.
@@diysave1136 thx, yeah it feels like it's evaporating cause I see pink residue/stain under hood and around area.... And the fluid is half way between full and empty. Fluid was last toped off a year ago.
@@salpanahi Considering that level over the year, troubleshooting a leak might not be worth the expense. Unless you want to do it anyway go ahead. I would just fill it to level and not worry about it so much. If you want to find a leak , you can try the dye method (search youtube).
Not really unless it's overfull. Only fill it when the engine is cold.
Wait if it’s 50,000 miles then you should change the fluid eventually? When will you change the fluid then when it overheats?? Just adding more is still old fluid
My car is 108k now.. i didnt have to change it since then. Hope this answers your questions
Wow that level is toooo low to drive. It must be leaking somewhere!
That's what I thought too. Since I added this, It stayed at that level. Not sure why it was low.
@@diysave1136 maybe rat did drink water inside
