Great instructional video. I always would add to the overflow tank, but didn't realize I should also check the radiator. I thought the overflow tank would fill the radiator as it gets low. Thank you for making the video!
Thank you🙂 yea it all depends on the condition of the components how well itll pull the coolant back in..thats why its a good idea to check the radiator level every once in a while as well
Hey Backyard Chevy, another great tip. I enjoy watching your video because it helps me take care of my 2006 Chevy Colorado LS 2.8. I have a question for you, I always bought Prestone yellow 50/50 antifreeze and put it into all my American cars. But I have notice as time has gone by, every car seems to have different color antifreeze. Does it make any difference what color goes into my Chevy Colorado or a Jeep Compass. And I also like the idea of buying one bottle to make two.
As long as u flush out the original dexcool, because it doesnt mix well with other coolants..but yea some people actually prefer to put in the green or yellow original colored antifreeze, because on older late 90s early 2000s gm vehicles the dexcool would damage intake or head gaskets so it kinda got a bad reputation....but dexcool works better due to the fact its meant for vehicles with aluminum engines/heads..and thats why the different colored antifreeze for manufacturers..its meant for aluminum
Wow! I guess I have gotten the wrong information being old school. I thought you can mix it, I never knew what the colors meant. I wish I got this info before I when out and bought 2 bottles of yellow Prestone sometime ago. So I guess I will have to drain it if I decide to use it, thanks for that info.
@@johnny1556 yea each color has different additives which each manufacturer designs their engines to function with, so if the manufacturers colored antifreeze doesnt match what it was designed around, those missing additives may affect the longevity of the parts.
Well so far its been ok during winter since its so cold..so my brothers been using it even though i told em its risky to drive that way..but im sure ill have to take care of it soon
Thank you I'm a 63 year old woman and I just replaced my radiator in my Honda thanks to you may God bless you for sharing!!
