I would have added Cutiepie gosh it's the next 2gether for me, The main character has like 0 personality traits except for being dependent on his male lead.
I am no fan of...what series were we discussing? But, it had enough strong points to avoid my list also. Now, if Mr Critic wants to break down The Bad Scripts of 2022...I definitely see a spot for....what series were we discussing?
I also didn't like cutie pie as that the casts are really good they had showed very good potential and acting skills in other series like why r u but here their acting was so raw just like a novice I don't know what to say but how people voted for cutie pie as the most favourite bl series and Lian and Kuea as the best bl couple instead of kinn Porsche !!!!!!🥺😑😑🙄🙄🥺
GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!! 😂 You completely see me and validate my thoughts (I'm doing a fist pump in the air). I couldn't bring myself self to watch half of these and the ones I did watch, they were done at double speed which wasn't FAST ENOUGH!!! I hope the directors and screen writers take note because I REFUSE to watch another mediocre BL. "Ocean Likes Me" and "Behind Cut" had good storylines but somewhere it was lost in screen translation. Ugh! I even watched the movie version of BC but it filled in NO blanks. Such a waste of time. I'm off to wwtch "Semantic Error" again for the 10th time to make up for it. Thanks for a wonderful summation of 2022 BLs so far. Hugs from Orlando, FL. ☀ 🌴 🏖
I've been meaning to watch the film edit of Behind Cut, but I haven't because deep down I suspect what you just wrote: the re-do won't make it any better. I thought the movie edit of Tinted With You was an improvement (slight), but that may have been simply down to getting the whole story in a single sitting instead of having to wait a week between 15 minute episodes.
I watched 5 out of the 10 BLs on this list. I cannot speak to That's My Candy, Physical Therapy, Close Friend 2, Rainbow Prince, or Enchante. My usual method of waiting to a BL is completed saved me some misery. I heard enough from fellow BL fans to just skip these series. Boredom is my excuse for Behind the Cut and Ocean Likes Me. They were short so not much of a commitment. I am not sure what possessed me to watch both seasons of Love Area. Curiosity? The Tuxedo had so much potential and I was hoping that it could not be that bad. This is the one that disappointed me the most. I watched Gen Y 2 so I could follow Bank's character. I was intrigued by that pairing enough that I even watched What Zabb Man. I am glad that Getaway is not on this list. It's the first of its kind from Singapore. It is a web based drama of 5 episodes from a gay director and actors/staff. It tackled some major issues such as coming out, loving oneself, and LGBTQ+ discrimination. It was filmed on location in Thailand. It did succeed in making me want to stay at The Siam resort. It suffered from being under funded and that is readily apparent. Is the acting stellar? No, it is not. Is it less than mediocre? Maybe but I am giving it an A for effort. It really tried to give positive representation. Please give the series some love and encouragement.
I think Getaway was decent with the budget and actors they had. Could it have been better? of course! But we should appreciate Singapore doing that much. And yes, The Siam seems like a nice lace to stay.. esp as it is on the banks of Chao Parya.
@@johnmaster3748 hahaha once I start I need to have closure. I kept saying over and over, I must know what happens. I would add… golden blood, hometown embrace, love at the end of the world, love with benifits, my boy, my sweet dear, our days (except Saint) and bite me …
@@birdsatalcatraz I am the same way. Once I commit to watching, I stick it through to the bitter end. Most of the series you name checked there do NOT belong on THIS list. But only because they aired in 2021. I watched six of them myself--and all the way to the bitter end each time. Bite Me, in particular, I stuck with from optimism. "It's going to improve, right?" Sadly, it did not.
@@johnmaster3748 of course I forgot about the 2022 tag on it lol. Yeah, I kept hoping something would improve during bite me, I had such high hopes for that one lol xx
@@birdsatalcatraz nothing in the realm of BL is quite so sad as when a teaser trailer makes you really anticipate a series and then it just underwhelms in every respect. Bite me....alas.
Ouch. At first I felt bad for not watching any of those series as I was so busy with work but then I see your reactions and I’m so glad that I get to keep my sanity by avoiding those series. I already made a comment on other channel about baby face actors will not work out anymore. And it definitely showed.
Your list is 💯correct. It's sad that the majority of the worst ones, yet again are made in Thailand. Sigh. I know that these companies want to make money, but you also have to invest in the talent (screenwriters, directors, and acting coaches), so that you can build a solid foundation, in order to set the world of the series, that they're creating. Yes, the actors are usually just starting their careers, so they need to be attractive, but they also need to feel safe, comfortable, protected, supported, and given the tools necessary, in order to be able to bring to life, the character that has been adapted from novel to TV.
When one country produces series at triple the rate of the others, it figures they will churn out poor ones more often than the others. If I were Thailand, I'd be questioning why the best ones they make seldom rise to the level of peak content from Japan, Taiwan, or Korea. Though Mr Critic's trenchant potshots at Philippines was entirely deserved, I rank GSP over any Thai BL. So peak Filipino BL also surpasses peak Thai BL, even if nothing Filipino has approached that level in years.
@@johnmaster3748 Seriously, and with the Korean, and Japanese ones, they're under 30 minutes, and they use mangas/manwhas as their source material. With the Taiwanese, the use screenwriters to create their source material for their BLs, so something has to change for BLs in Thailand.
As John said... Thai BLs are suffering from mediocrity because everyone wants to have that piece of BL popularity.. they wanna be Next Bad Buddy or Kinn Porsche or even Together, and same with the actors, they are just jumping without looking at the script as they also want to be Bright or Win, with 14+ million followers.
I wish you were wrong. 4 out of the 10 series I didn't even watch & I'm glad you confirmed my decision. Evolution is good and the successful with adapt & continue to enthrall us. Many hugs, Z.
Apart from My Candy( i haven'twatched it, and no intention to do so), I have watched all and I have felt pity 4 myself wasting my time watching them rather than reading books😃😃😃 the new BLs' scenario, cinematography, casting, location selecting, clothes' arranging are far more better and it is a must to keep up with them.
Rainbow Prince had serious script problems. But it also had the chutzpah to be the first BL musical. The ambition to work multiple song and dance numbers into each episode. I vote that it deserves to miss this list in recognition of its ambition. It's also the only BL from the Philippines I've been willing to sample in the past 12 months. Something tells me there are worse Filipino BLs than RP, and they should be on this list instead, except I can't name what I've not seen. So, Mr Critic's comment about the country's recent track record seems fair.
There were a lot of worse BL from Philippines in the first half, may be my top 10 would be filled by them only, but what the point when nobody has watched any.
behind Cut. It was really confusing. I actually just felt like it was a waste of time after the first 3 episodes. Ocean likes me I found kind of unreal, but I still enjoyed watching it because I liked both actors. the girl was weird and out of place. I didn't watch the rest of the series because I found the names lurid (Enchante, Rainbow Prince and Gen Y). The names say it all. Physical Therapy made me think of young men giving massages, oh well. After Dr. House and various other doctor series, I don't like hospital series any more. BL Romance doesn't save anything either. I'd still have Cutie Pie and Plus and Minus as flops, although I'm probably in the minority with Cutie Pie.
"I'm probably in the minority with [omitted]." Welcome to BL Critic channel. Possibly the only site in the wider BL fan-verse where detractors of a certain recent series outnumber its legion of devotees. Mr Critic delivered a fair, balanced review of said series in April or so, but the Comments brimmed with scathing, disappointed takes.
@@johnmaster3748 Well, nobody likes it when a beloved series is criticised. There is always a bit of yourself in everything you like. Criticism cannot be taken objectively, but is always perceived as criticism of one's own inner self. Preferences are very emotional and it is difficult to remain objective when you have the feeling that someone is saying "you are an idiot if you look at such rubbish". This meta-message is often behind factual criticism. So, criticism is good, but hurt comments are predictable. Let's take it in our stride
Sadly I did start about 2/3rds of the ones on this list, but some were so bad I stopped after a few episodes. The one exception was Rainbow Prince where I would essentially hate watch it to see how bad it would be. Like you I am wondering why is the Philippines putting out bad series after bad series when they have put out amazing series like Gameboys and Gaya Se Pelikula? One series I surprised you didn’t mention is Secret Crush on You.
At this point, the question I ponder is how Philippines managed to execute GSP and Gameboys in the first place? Given the subsequent track record, you'd have to say those are the anomalies, right? After two years of "terrible," I won't even start a Pinoy series when it debuts. Let others be the test subjects.
@@johnmaster3748 could it be beginners luck?? I did also enjoy Boys Lockdown and there was supposed to be a season 2 but I haven’t seen any news on when it is coming out.
@@pasguy1965 I also wonder about beginner's luck. And you are correct: 2020 delivered not only the two greats but also several good ones. I think their collective success made producers think all they had to do was make a BL and $$$ would pour in. But, hello, script remains a necessity!
@@pasguy1965 "Stumbled into..." Sure, but after the stumble did you then pivot around Minato as you both tumbled to the floor, with you cradling his head to protect it, only to have your lips unexpectedly press together as you landed one atop the other? Oh, who am I kidding? For an inveterate BL connoisseur nothing in that scenario counts as "unexpected."
I agree with you 200%😂😂😂.I never watched a serie from Philippines, I started once, but it was not my cup of tea. In my opinion, there is too much KimCop these year.I think that one episode from That´s my candy was to much. What a nonsense and I felt the same with Physical therapy after few episodes. Sometimes I didn´t know what is going on there🤦♀. And this year is full of second season´s disaster. Love Area, Gen Y and I dare to add Color rush.Another nonsense is also Tinted with you and Kissable lips
You're allowed to enjoy bad things. This is a country that adores junk food, after all. And we eat more cheese per capita than any other country, I believe. And my instinct tells me the series you appreciated offered up lots of oozing, hot cheese.
Not one to throw shades, but I couldn’t bring myself to watch more than half of the shows mentioned here 😂 Ok, shade throwing intended 😂 ______ Hmmm… where do I start This is in no particular order as the few I’ve watched in this list are all just blah 1. Behind cut: this show felt like they selected extra scenes shot after the director(s) said “cut”- behind cut 😂 2. Ocean loves me. After the first episode, which I had to force myself to watch, I had to wait for the series to be done just to watch the rest of the episodes in 5mins (just out of boredom) and boy did I want to throw myself into the deep (ocean) 😂 3. Gen Y (season2?) 🤦🏾♀️ the only story line worth spending a min on was the tong/pong couple really, and that even, was a total disaster 🤦🏾♀️ 😂 4. And don’t get me started on “the tuxedo”… you know what, Imma hold my peace cos I’d pretty much sound like a bully if I say what I want to 😂 ✌️
It's not "shade". It's "criticism". That's a legitimate intellectual exercise. Now, combine criticism with snark, and one crosses into shady realms."Boy, did I want to throw myself into the Deep...." Ah, I see you appreciate the distinction already. "Shade intended", indeed.
I've watched about 4/5 on your list and it's true that I found nearly all of them an absolute chore to try and get through. I gave up on the prince one after ep 3 lol and I can't even remember the names of the rest, that's how much they had an effect on me 😁. I'm currently attempting that's my candy but tbh there are so many wtf moments in it that it's fast making me lose my will to live so I'm probably going to give up on it pretty soon.
I agree with you about everyone except for different reasons, for some of them. TaeSingto only had chemistry when they fought but no romantic chemistry whatsoever. Some series including That's My Candy and even Close Friend 2 seemed to be missing episodes like Physical Therapy. Sometimes I'll overlook not so great acting if they're is great chemistry so some series was ok like Enchante. I liked the first season of Love Area but something happened with a couple of the actors' abilities between seasons because they got worse! Jeff's kissing and "implied" bathroom sex was a huge surprise but the ongoing fight between the main couple until the last few seconds was like nails on a chalkboard.
[Edit: this post was intended to speak to the idea that one way to define "Worst of the Year" is to catalog series that most disappointed us. Enchanté was meant to be the case in point. As written, it seems like I meant to argue Enchanté isn't bad enough to be on the list. Well, I probably do think that way since Enchanté was 10 and Love Stage! does belong here, which would push E to 11--and off the list. But that wasn't supposed to be the point.] Enchanté may not belong on a list that starts with That's My Candy and omits Love Stage! Its chief sins were blandness and underdelivering its intriguing unofficial teaser. How dare Enchanté fail to meet my expectations! The series was mediocre, yes, where Gen Y 2 was unwatchable. But neither Candy nor Gen Y 2 disappointed me because I never expected much. Enchanté may go down as the biggest BL disappointment this year. Not because it was bad per se, but because I can see the potential here for it to have been so so good. Enchanté and that other series, what was it called?, they both had such high potential. Such disappointments.
Okay, I'll bite. What is your issue with Love Stage (not Love Area that I understand)? It's not my favorite but at least someone lost a tooth during the accidental fall kiss. :)
@@deborahw2770 it mostly boils down to just not rating it. I can't pin it to one thing, because everything was below average. It had some charm, but for me the flaws overwhelmed those. And I'm not flogging it in these comments because I think it's terrible. It just happens to be the one series I'd add to the list to replace either of the two shows whose removal I semi-advocated. Remember, it's only June. Good chance it falls off the list in December because I come across something I like even less. Actually, that's not a happy thought.
@John Master: I agree with you, and I was not going to add Enchante at first, but it was such a disappointment from the hype it had. I ranked it pretty highly on my upcoming BL list at the start of the year and....
@@blcritic Candy was horrible. But Enchante disappointed me far more, and in six months, I will still remember why, whereas I will have forgotten (repressed?) everything about Candy. The disappointing ones hurt more than the bad ones. It's why after two months I can't stop ranting about....about....DRM told me I can't discuss that series anymore. So, her Jedi mind trick is working.
I hope Mama Gogo makes the next list. I've watched it with disbelief. I agree very much with John Master and others who had such high hopes for Enchante. There seemed to be a built-in guarantee it was going to be excellent. Physical Therapy; it looked to me like the actors were sitting there waiting to be reminded of their next line. Paint WIth Love; unbelievably forced chemistry between the leads. Tuxedo I enjoyed only because I could stare at those beautiful actors.
@@blcritic Disorganization can be a sign you are mentally healthy. I made that up to rationalize how my bedroom looks. If you ever have time, let me know what the most annoying questions are and misconceptions people have about Australia. (Please)
Thankfully, I chose not to watch about half of those. Good on me! Of those I did watch, I'd say Close Friend and Love Stage were my least favorites. Love Stage suffered from bad subtitles, so that may have colored my thoughts on that one, and I didn't finish it. I find it ironic that Kimmon/Copter were in three of the bad ones. Why do the producers and casting agents think that K/C ship will overcome bad writing, lack of plot and poor execution? I feel sorry for the actors having to slog through that mess.
I really don't know, and I really think that Kimmon, and Copter are very talented. They just need a break from being cast together as a couple in another BL for the near future.
Oh, sure, J, make every point I wanted to make just because you got here first! Lol 1. Like the previous "Best" list, I haven't seen several of these. Only this time, I had to remind myself not to track down the ones I missed. (Only, I would never ever ever use the idiom "good on me." Though I will counter with "good for me.) 2. I'd have had Love Stage! on my list, too. 3. I also noticed Kim Copter's frequent flyer status. "Running their ship into the ground," I said a few weeks back. I stand by that. So, to sum up, J's post this time was especially insightful and brilliant.
@@johnmaster3748 Well, I'm bored at work, waiting for accounting to email me a spreadsheet, so I have been lurking on youtube. That's why I was so quick to reply! My Aussie friend uses "good on me/you" and I find myself using it on occasion. This seemed like a good occasion to trot it out. The K/C ship needs to be dry docked, as do several other ships. Insightful AND brilliant??? Wow, I think I've reached the pinnacle of my day and it's only 10am! (Thank you for the kind words.)
*On your list* : I agree with Enchante’ & The Tuxedo. All the rest are the ones I didn’t watch, so I’ll pass. A shame !🥺 Enchante’ was cinematographically shot. The setting made Assumption University look grand & stylish. But Theo’s deception pushed the series downhill with an illogical excuse when it came out in the end. Next : The Tuxedo was worse to watch I felt betrayed I thought it deserved a try. How did the male lead run his business with that social anxiety disorder symptom ? Such an idiotic script !! Now *on my list* : although these dramas are not that lousy to be called train-wrecks, they all are far below expectations. Something In My Room is the second series from Dee Hub House, the company which produced Lovely Writer. Therefore it was believed to be in the same quality level of Lovely Writer, but failed hardly to impress the viewers as much as the previous work. The paces & the vibes throughout the whole story were slow & depressing. Not that it’s about the deceased but they intentionally dragged out for no reason. The worst part was the ending which felt so much rushed. Dear Doctor, I’m Coming For Soul was also a big disappointment even though they got the leads from Gray Rainbow - one of the legendary Thai BLs to star for it. I can’t tell you why I found the Uke’s personality irritating & hard to cheer him up. Once again, this is the second BL besides Something In My Room that its ending part which was meant to refer to 20-30 years had passed failed to have me to empathize. I was unsatisfied by the rush of its end. Golden Blood was the worst when it comes to an overall terrible BL for this defined duration. What let me down & unforgivable was the acting of the Uke. He wasn’t a rookie anymore, he played in Love By Chance before. So there was no excuse for his lame acting. The Seme ,on the other hand, had my thumb up👍. However the way the Uke treated the Seme disrespectfully like boss-servant type in the early episodes couldn’t successfully convince me he would turn upside down to love the Seme in a few following episodes. So I felt watching it such a waste of time.
I liked Dear Doctor quite a bit, actually. I think some of it had to do with the fact that I thought the soul reaper was hotter than the face of the sun.
Here's another idea I wanted to express that someone else already has: sometimes the bigger sin isn't being bad objectively, it's disappointing high expectations. I'm gonna go ahead with that post, but Yesterday said it first!
@@j_scott Agreed ✅ Somebody looks appealing just at the first glance.🥰 Some needs the close-up look to see their charisma. The soul reaper looked so-so to me in Gray Rainbow🌈. He looked attractive in Dear Doctor though. Speaking of attraction : I can’t help but bringing up “Tawan” (KinnPorsche) into this conservation. He too looked so-so in IPYTM.🌙 But in KP : he looked so tempting that it saddened me so much he no longer exists in the show.😥
Need to talk about La Cuisine because omg it should be here… it’s like the writers forgot what it was supposed to be about halfway through. All of the bad BL tropes were there but so much worse. The last half of the show was nuts. They focused almost entirely on the crazy/ evil girl and almost not at all on the supposed main couple? And omg they infantilized Lukchob so badly. He is a college student but nobody in his life believes he was capable of making a decision? His brother, boyfriend, and friends all plotting to take down the girl that was targeting him… without him? And omg where was the actual relationship? It was so hard to get through.
Oh damn i agree !!!! 100% agree !!!! Waste of time for all this series... thanks to me, i've not watch all this until the end 🤣 on the contrary, a series that didn't appeal to me at first surprised me a lot and I really loved the characters and the acting, it's Secret Crush On You!!! I had read the book so I wanted to see what it was like and it was really well adapted, going over the ultra ridiculous moments that can be uncomfortable, this series is a gem for a good mood 🤣 not perfect but still , she deserves more success than those of the videos 😁
I didn't even bother to watch My Candy, I hated Enchanté, The Tuxedo was more confusing than my own mental problems 🤣🤣 Love Area 2 I don't really care about that one. The ocean likes me ended so abruptly I have no idea what happened there. You didn't mention this one because is an old one but 2moons2 is baaaadddd!!
OMG exactly the series I complained about. And that's my candy takes the first spot. Have you ever watched a film and your mind just travelled elsewhere and then it returned and you're like "oh I am watching something" that's how I felt watching that's my candy. it's dreadfully awful.
I was not able to get past first 15 minutes of 2nd episode and dropped it then and there, and still gave 1st disaster spot and nobody complained till date.
I actually didn't like The Tuxedo the first time I watched it. But the second time, I liked it more. I think maybe we just sometimes need to rewatch shows to appreciate them more.
I wouldn't call In Your Heart a train wreck, but it was a big disappointment. The acting was quite good, in my opinion. Unfortunately, the ending was like a giant jenga collapse---I didn't think it was consistent with the rest of the story.
@@VixenByNight72 Yes. I hope we'll see more bl series from China in the near future, but I don't know what hoops the producers there have to jump through.
Yep this list is perfect. I try to watch every BL, even ones not fully subtitled or ones that are really dragging, but I could not physically finish That's My Candy.
So so right about this list. The Tuxedo was the biggest disappointment. It felt like they cut episodes half way through? So many story lines just weren’t finished or were rushed. Close Friends 2 was so dumb but at least it was short.
Honestly, I watched most of the series in this list and did finished most of them. Some of them are actually my favourite series for this year but none of them were bad for me. At least some of them still entertain me in a good way and I can still re-watch them again after that despite their flaws. Maybe because I never put any expectations for any series so I can just be relax and watch whatever happen on the screen. Well, everyone has their own tastes and preferences so we do respect each other point of view. Thanks for the video.
I feel soo bad for kimmon and copter I seriously couldn't watch past ep 1 of any of their dramas this year though I did watch physical therapy all the way through and was left scratching my head at the end lol
I disagree with Rainbow Prince I totally loved it. You should have put Our Days and Star in my Mind and Cutie Pie in its place . Physical Therapy had lots of problems but it was not that bad as you made it sound . Ocean like me was good . Behind cut , Blueming , Boarding House were clearly worst I agree with all the rest .
@@chimmoos6574 totally better than Boarding House or Behind Cut that were awful 😞 but still Blueming failed to intrigue me . I liked how openly and unapologetically gay the guy was . He felt zero shame to hit on another guy. I liked that . But there are so many things I think Blueming missed . The biggest one being the Secondary GL couple that never sailed although it was clear as crystal there was something between the two girls there
That the PH hasn’t had a half-decent BL since it’s breakout era is quite sad. The first BL content from the Philippines- GameBoys, Boys Lockdown and even Hello Stranger were written by men and women who had been inspired by Japanese BLs and anime since they were children. As outcasts of homonormativity some of the best BL writers are among gay men who gravitated to BL because they didn’t feel typical gay series gave them good representation as femmes or other non normative masculinities excluded from masc4masc dominant gay spaces. The latter set, the “taking back our story” crews, came determined to write anti-BLs and to show the girls and femmes how it’s done - meaning produce typical gay series and white label them BL because that’s where the investment and the lucrative fandoms lay. I think they failed because of: how dismissive they were of the genre and it’s queer authenticity to begin with; not doing the research about the progressive directions of Asian BL; not even attempting to centre the pov of lgbt men who already felt alienated by mainstream gay productions; and of course giving a middle finger in the process to people perceived as women - the largest single contingent of BL viewers (around 40%) and whose passionate fan activism and greater propensity to spend heavily on supporting their faves than male fans, means that a BL’s success lives or dies on attracting them. It helps to remember that even the state-of-the-art GameBoys was initially rejected at home by men “because of visuals” but women and other typical BL fans stuck with GameBoys from Ep 1 to 13 and took it all the way to Netflix globally. Because there weren’t two hyper masculine leading-men together in GBs it wouldn’t have survived without BL fans - of all sexualities, and queer men who has been producing and enjoying BL as an aspirational, transformational form of media, in solidarity with women, trans and non-binary people for decades. Sadly the recent crop of anti-BL producers are after the fame and fortune of BL but don’t seem to want to engage productively with its history, politics or ethics of inclusion. Even yesterday one of the stars of Gaya - distinctly not a BL, referred to the genre on whose wave he rose to prominence, as outdated and not representative. Meanwhile the rest of us are enjoying classic BLs like Old Fashion Cupcake and just enjoying the tea 💕
Thank you for bringing out the role of straight women who passionately follow Bl ( aka fujoshis). Yes, the girls do go extreme & crazy sometimes but their solid support to Bl cannot be denied. Also the horrible characterization of straight women in Bl by producers I have been pointing that out for some time now. For some time now, I had begun to think gay men disliked/hated feminine & straight women. Even the characters of the troublesome girlfriend ( jealous, scheming) got a regular derisive response ( bitchy) by some commentators. All jealous women are not bitchy.I personally skip the parts of these Bls where they show these women running after a lying, gay Male lead who is basically just keeps her around till he has made up his mind. They use the straight women not as characters but props. The scheming, nasty stereotype is the prop in the otherwise flowery land of masculine gay men who sometimes fall in love with the slightly feminine men ( btw, who also can be bitchy, jealous and can pout) 😁
@@zahrabjinu Ha ha well the tv adaptation side of the BL business is still very male but some queer men are employing the female gaze (a political philosophy to generate empathy) and writing excellent women/girl characters as well as boys and men. To add to the popular ones like Semantic Error, Cherry Magic, GameBoys and UWMA which you probably already know, you might like to check out these magnificent but not as widely known in BL-landia: Killer and Healer- grown up, drugs mafia/cops, existential battles with consequences; The Devil Judge - writer director set out to write genderless characters for this gritty dystopian KDrama; and Nirvana in Fire - the epic, sophisticated, super intriguing wuxia Danmei to end all BLs, which takes some serious intellectual capital but you’ll be glad you spent it. They all have exceptional, inspiring and unforgettable women characters! You might also want to add The EmpressKi but it’s only halfway Bl endgame but brilliant female lead. Killer and Healer is on YT and has the same Director as the highly anticipated Immortality so if it’s anywhere near as good as K&H I shall be front and centre for the entire runtime 💕
0:50 lol yes! Theo actions are terrible and they even made Akk going after Theo in the end painting him as the one in the wrong and Theo as a poor guy whom everyone deceived and had his "perfect family set" destroyed, maaan 🤦Theo was the one who needed redemption, Akk suffered the most just because Theo wanted Akk to say that loved him, like? But their story was horrible lol there's series you need to watch setting the right mindset, you can't compare Close Friend, a set of short stories that doesn't have time enough to develop the plot or there's too much time because they couldn't fill the story, to I don't know Bad Buddy, it won't work. 2:46 😂 everyone says this series is bad, sad lol but yet there's times that I consider watching it when I have no other series to watch, at least I'll be aware of where I'm going into lol knowing the regrets will come at the end in anyway 3:22 wow lmao 🤣 3:44 I couldn't even watch Love Area 1, because the slow pace was killing me and the player didn't have the option to change the video speed and I didn't like the interactions too 4:13 nooooo 😭 I like Gen Y 😆 it's not a mediocre series 😔👉👈 it's not ultra high level, but it's good, particularly I find Kimmon and Copter's acting excellent 👌 4:48 YES THE WORST OF WORST, this series is a total disaster, when I finished watching I was speechless and upset that Kimmon and Copter were part of this, this is like a career stain for everyone who worked on it
I haven't seen 5 out of your list. But the rest were really disappointing. Love area 's lead were really cute but out of nowhere the last 3 eps derailed and went berserk in S2. I think most of these disasters were irritating from first episode itself so if we Viewers completed watching the series the resulting headaches were self perpetrated.Gen y should be given the title of 'mega disaster' both s1 and s2 were bad ( I saw 2-3 eps of both).
I just realized I never got around to most of the bls on your list & then eventually forgot about them because of persistent marketing on YT of some new bl releasing every week. Except for kinn Porsche and Enchante, I don't think I have kept track of numerous releases. It's crazy how new Bls are popping up like mushrooms everyday.
Please stop the OhmFluke series. Every series has been so lackluster and there is no chemistry between the two actors that I’m sold on. Oh! My Sunshine Night was a slow train wreck everyone was staring at the implode. Just so you know a train wreck is when you know the series is heading towards a collision of a bad ending which most people either stop watching or continue watching to the end. Examples Unforgotten Nights(leave) Oh! My Sunshine Nights (watch) A dumpster fire is when you watch the 1-2 episodes and realize it is so bad you have to run away. Something smells rotten and you not catch the stench of whatever is in that dumpster. Example: Check Out 🥴
@@blcritic please I implore the delulus who love this ship. Sink it. You literally can have BossNoeul as your ship or MileApo. Like you had good ships with MaxTul and OhmNannon. Why settle for chemistry that even your grandparents would say, where’s the passion?
I freaking love the disclaimer. It is so funny but is needed coz people gonna attack. I've only seen enchante coz it was after bbs. And oh boy what a let down. I mean have 0 expectation but dude the disappointment was immense. Thai bl should really setup their game (AND NOT JUST PRODUCE SOFT PORN AND ALL VISUALS FANSERVICE). Korea has a lot of good material to work with (i love bl manwhas) but they are still soooo awkward in acting. I can FEEEEEELLL that the actors are just doing the shit just a stepping stone. It ruins the good material. But if they surpass that, they win. For me Taiwan and Japan have the right balance for their bls right now so I am more excited for them. And as for PH bls, I dont know man. They want to be truly represent the lgbtq community but capitalism wins everytime.
Yes, yes, yes yes,yes need I go on and a lot more, a few Filipino bls that make That's My Candy look good. Maybe I am missing something, I keep seeing the Copter/Kimmon ship and wonder do they have a huge fan base that I do not know about. If I see they are in a series I pretty much know it will be bad, same for Ohm/Fluke. What about Baker Boys, wasn't it in that period, so creepy. Love Stage the Japanese series remake was so bad. I think in 2022 we still have a lot to come.
I wished I had seen this before I wasted hours/days on most of these shitshows. I want to sue the person who wrote Ocean Likes Me is as good as Semantic Error. If anyone reads this. Do not watch Check Out other than episode 0. Skip Unforgotten Nights. I wish to Unforgotten this BL exist. I’m seeing quite a lot train wrecks coming in the second half of 2022. A lot of these I either didn't watch or watched a couple episodes and plum forgot about them. Just goes to show how boring they were if i didn't go out and search it out and finish. I do like chap and greens chemistry and the story had potential but yeah it was like they ran out of money or something and the good start just kinda fizzled. Gmmtv what can I say about them they make some great ones like bad buddy then they make things like cupids last wish and im left going wtf. Earth and mix sure they have good chemistry but mix being a brat half the series just made me wanna punch him in the nose. I think aof was involved in both but I wonder if he didnt have as much control on cupid I dunno. Cutie Pie was bad, but at least better than the top 10s here.

Exactly!!!! you get out of mine 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 My thought exactly! Love from Sunny Israel☀️😻☀️
I watched them all and I still question my sanity to this day

Spot on. Harsh, but oh, so true.
I actually liked The Tuxedo 😊. I guess I liked it because I like the two main actors

Hehe, I watched them so that you guys don't have to...
@@blcritic Touche. I've certainly not seen any.
You are not alone on Cutie Pie😂

Ok, shade throwing intended 😂
______
Hmmm… where do I start
This is in no particular order as the few I’ve watched in this list are all just blah
1. Behind cut: this show felt like they selected extra scenes shot after the director(s) said “cut”- behind cut 😂
2. Ocean loves me. After the first episode, which I had to force myself to watch, I had to wait for the series to be done just to watch the rest of the episodes in 5mins (just out of boredom) and boy did I want to throw myself into the deep (ocean) 😂
3. Gen Y (season2?) 🤦🏾♀️ the only story line worth spending a min on was the tong/pong couple really, and that even, was a total disaster 🤦🏾♀️ 😂

You should include Cutie Pie. I have watched it until EP 4 then everything went downhill until I gave up.
i watched all of these and i couldn't have agreed more.
But that wasn't supposed to be the point.]
Enchanté may not belong on a list that starts with That's My Candy and omits Love Stage!

@@blcritic Candy was horrible. But Enchante disappointed me far more, and in six months, I will still remember why, whereas I will have forgotten (repressed?) everything about Candy.

Lol
1. Like the previous "Best" list, I haven't seen several of these. Only this time, I had to remind myself not to track down the ones I missed. (Only, I would never ever ever use the idiom "good on me." Though I will counter with "good for me.)
2. I'd have had Love Stage! on my list, too.
3. I also noticed Kim Copter's frequent flyer status. "Running their ship into the ground," I said a few weeks back. I stand by that.
So, to sum up, J's post this time was especially insightful and brilliant.

@@Fantasticzone Yes, completely agree about Tawan. The fact that his character was batcrap crazy only made him hotter.

So so right about this list. The Tuxedo was the biggest disappointment. It felt like they cut episodes half way through? So many story lines just weren’t finished or were rushed. Close Friends 2 was so dumb but at least it was short.
The ending of The Tuxedo was so bad. What a poor ending.
Even the RoboVoice sounds irritated when discussing these series. Especially at 1.5 speed. That's a nifty trick.
lol 😂
I disagree with Rainbow Prince I totally loved it. You should have put Our Days and Star in my Mind and Cutie Pie in its place . Physical Therapy had lots of problems but it was not that bad as you made it sound .
Ocean like me was good . Behind cut , Blueming , Boarding House were clearly worst
I agree with all the rest .
blueming was good though😳
To add to the popular ones like Semantic Error, Cherry Magic, GameBoys and UWMA which you probably already know, you might like to check out these magnificent but not as widely known in BL-landia:
Killer and Healer- grown up, drugs mafia/cops, existential battles with consequences;
The Devil Judge - writer director set out to write genderless characters for this gritty dystopian KDrama; and
Nirvana in Fire - the epic, sophisticated, super intriguing wuxia Danmei to end all BLs, which takes some serious intellectual capital but you’ll be glad you spent it.
I can't with all of them. Nasty after-taste like a corked bottle of wine...
Don't you know you're friend? He won't do it, he'll keep it to himself, you need to do it, your dumb. Theo didn't apologize even once.
1:11 noooo, really? I didn't watch it yet, but I was looking forward, I can't believe it's bad 🤧
1:48 lol yeah, but I like it though, in a lower level of quality it's good
2:09 yeees, the last episodes... 🙂 it's similar to Enchanté, the richer lead does shit, but is the poorer lead that makes the move first, that goes after, that tries to make up, is it a social class hierarchy?
2:42 😂😂 considering they set a continuation, I want to see what comes next 😂 they choose the stories based on the success of the actors "couples" I guess, although there's Ja and First, aren't they big? But their story was horrible lol there's series you need to watch setting the right mindset, you can't compare Close Friend, a set of short stories that doesn't have time enough to develop the plot or there's too much time because they couldn't fill the story, to I don't know Bad Buddy, it won't work.
2:46 😂 everyone says this series is bad, sad lol but yet there's times that I consider watching it when I have no other series to watch, at least I'll be aware of where I'm going into lol knowing the regrets will come at the end in anyway
3:22 wow lmao 🤣
3:44 I couldn't even watch Love Area 1, because the slow pace was killing me and the player didn't have the option to change the video speed and I didn't like the interactions too
4:13 nooooo 😭 I like Gen Y 😆 it's not a mediocre series 😔👉👈 it's not ultra high level, but it's good, particularly I find Kimmon and Copter's acting excellent 👌
4:48 YES THE WORST OF WORST, this series is a total disaster, when I finished watching I was speechless and upset that Kimmon and Copter were part of this, this is like a career stain for everyone who worked on it
Haha, you are funny! 🤣🤣 and Come on you watched That's My Candy till the end? You've got patience...
@@blcritic thank u 😆🤭💁 and yeah, I know 😮💨
I haven't seen 5 out of your list.
Zahra has identified part of the problem. When we watch a series all the way through, we just encourage them to do it again.
"if we Viewers completed watching the series the resulting headaches were self perpetrated". You hit the nail on the head.
You should try just the first episode of That's My Candy, you will be surprised something can beat gen Y 2 too.
@@blcritic 😂 no thank you
not blueming tho yall stay safe
That's My Candy. Hard Stop.
Can't remember GenY 2.
My Sunshine Nights (watch)
A dumpster fire is when you watch the 1-2 episodes and realize it is so bad you have to run away. Something smells rotten and you not catch the stench of whatever is in that dumpster. Example: Check Out 🥴
hehe.. they have another series pending..
I think in 2022 we still have a lot to come.
haha I deliberately avoided some Filipino BLs. About Kimmon/Copter.. I am surprised how their agent was able to saturate their ship in 6 months.
Lordy lord lord- it’s going to be rough.
the upcoming lineups are going to blow you( not literally)... but still.. some towards Sept and Oct...
Check out & unforgotten night were really awful.
@@blcritic am really waiting for ur next video about BLTran wrecks coz there many from July till date .
@@aloneneha4839 hehe it will be a task to select 10 from like 50 train wrecks... lol
@@blcritic am excited coz I know am almost annoyed with almost 90% of the BL series .There terribly bad I don't even know what these companies think before releasing these bad series only to put product replacements and endorsements.
Love Area
I have not watched any of these series because I didn't like the trailer but after reading all of this reviews I can say that it was worthy to spend time on Kinnporsche rather than these shit 🤣🤣
You're lucky
of course though 🤣
I did not like Enchante. I DNF.
Ocean Likes Me. Sigh. No.
I skipped Rainbow Prince. sounds like the right choice.
Behind Cut...also skipped.
OOooooooh. Close Friend. Nope.
The Tuxedo. Medium. Not super good, not super bad. Just....blandish.
A lot of these I either didn't watch or watched a couple episodes and plum forgot about them. Just goes to show how boring they were if i didn't go out and search it out and finish. I have the viki app im sure at some point I'll boredom watch them all in one go but ill regret it just as much as love by chance 2 sorry but that was trainwreck I want to unwatch(if I could unwatch the first season id do that too but a few characters saved it from being total garbage). I'll be honest the RUclips algorithm usually reminds me hey new episode here it is and I'll watch cause I'm lazy like that lol. Do I enjoy all of the you tube ones? Eh not really but at least I can say I finished something 🤣
hehe... but I think now we got so many BLs we don't have to go back to mediocre or unfinished ones even if we have too much free time.
@@blcritic sometimes I watch just to see if they have a great kiss scene at the end but sadly some don't even do one or they do one bland kiss which might be worse. If I semi liked the bl and there's no end kiss I get sad. My love mix up and mr unlucky has to kiss(yeah one kiss episode 1 but nothing after) i was sad they didn't do one good kiss at the end. Even old fashioned cupcake which I liked too wussed out i dunno I feel like its unfinished lol.
