Review of Love Mechanics the series

- The review is a bit favorable than my other reviews as I went in with zero expectation as I actually disliked the previous miniseries version. A more accurate rating can be given in my year end review where I'll have itme to process the series. I binge watched till ep 8, hence I had less time to process the angst than most of you who have watched it weekly.

Glad you gave it a chance, It has been one of my favorite THAI bls this year. I think 8.5 is fair when I compare it to some of our other favorites. It was good but not perfect, similar to my feelings about Bad Buddy. Like you, I did not like the En of Love series and really did not like the original Love Mechanics part and was not a fan of the Yin Mark ship. When I originally heard they were going to do a remake of Love Machanics, I was kinda thinking who cares, the first one sucked. It was not until Yin and War did The Best Story that my interest really changed, I thought they were really good in that short series and it gave me some hope for the new Love Machanics series. When I knew Lit would direct it my interest was peaked even more since I loved what he did with My Engineer. Now that I finished the series I was not disappointed. I thought both Yin and War were good, War's range is great being able to play the angry bitch as well as the sweet loving boyfriend. I loved the scene after the final credits of episode 10 when they switched things up, I think better than the Bad Buddy final scene. My one complaint about War would be that when he plays angery bitch it really shows his age and found it hard to see him as the hot younger partner. Yin had some heart breaking scenes and I think he played them well, that scene in 8 at Mark's door really was ripping my heart out. Yes he is not Ohm but I think that is good, some of his sassy scenes were cringy but I question if that was more a problem of direction. I loved Perth who played Ploy Vee's girlfriend and think that was perfect casting, the girl in the original was such a hard bitch. Yes I also loved the actor Bonz who played Vee's brother. Episode 8 with Mark's ex Pack was wonderful, the interaction between those two was perfect. The casting in general was good. I agree the boxing thing could have been cut out but I think the boxer is a character they are introducing for a possible other season.
In general I think the writing was good, I have rewatched the series several times and they have really dealt with alot of issues, trust, parents, class differances, coming out. I think the biggest flaw for me was Marks reactions to seeing Ploy kissing Vee and not giving Vee the chance to explain. Particularly after the situation where Vee had come in on Nuea laying on top of Mark at the beach and reacted so strongly. I know they had to creat the drama that followed but it got boring. As far as judging women more harshly, I think it was Vee who got treated harshly when his friends found out. As far as the issue of straight guys cheating on their girlfriends with other guys lets talk about the elephant in the room, Vee having sex with a drunk Mark to start this whole story out. The way the series starts out is kinda of a slap in the face and I think it would be easy to see Vee as the villian that Mark calls him, that is the black and white of it. But what I love about this series is there is really so much more there. It starts with with Vee wanting to be the hero, picking druck Mark off the floor of the bathroom and bring him home when he should have been watching a series with his girlfriend Ploy. After he gets Mark home in bed and realizes that he has stood up Ploy he leaves and goes down stairs wondering what the hell he is doing. Why is he harrasing this kid to begin with, what are his real feelings. He gets druck as well, so when he goes back upstairs he is also drunk. So it is not sober Vee taking advantage of drunk Mark, it is drunk Mark begging and pleading with drunk Vee who he thinks is Bar to make love with him, pushing him down and getting on top of him. We have drunk Vee trying to understand his own feelings finally giving into them. What we see then is not drunk sex but two people making love. Unfortunately Vee was making love to Mark but Mark was making love to Bar. The next morning all Mark could see was a villian but for Vee it was a turning point the being of his journey, furthest he had ever gone with anyone. So a straight guy cheating on his girl friend is a little to simple. Just to be clear I do not think having sex with a drunk person is ever justified but this story is not black and white but every shade of gray. This is a story of two very different people from different backgrounds finding love. The Mark character is a very damaged toxic person, a spoiled rich gay brat who is full of anger seemingly always disappointed in love. Seems like he has everything, looks, money but really has nothing. On the other hand we have Vee a lower class guy, kinda stupid but charming, good looking, with a big heart. To say he was straight just because he has girl friend would be a mistake. As Nuea told in his back story to Mark, Vee and Ploy were Prom King and Queen and all their friends shipped them together, it seemed like the next step. Vee understood Ploy, put up with her, took care of her like his Queen. Real men treat their women bad. I know it is a bl world but Vee's two best friends are gay. As Bar said Vee is on a journey that he will one day figure out. So straight guy cheating on his girl friend black and white, maybe better Vee's journey to understand his true feelings, his coming out and Mark's journey is one of self worth and trust. So many people distroy their happiness or choose bad relationships because they think they do not deserve to be happy. I liked the journey of these two, the ups and downs, sometimes it was boring with major stupidity by both but that is life. I liked the journey of the parents also, the casting was perfect. I liked when Mark's father asked Vee's father was he not bothered by two guys together, Vee's father said he was angry when the older boy, Vee's brother, brought home a boy for sex and he worried what the family would think, with Vee and Mark it was different because you could see that their happiness just glowed from them, it was not just a hook up. I hope people can get pass the initial toxic behavior of the series and take it as a whole, I think it is worth watching.
Side not on the provider, I have been a vip member for a long time, my yearly subscription just came up for renewal, I did not renew. They have really cut back on their bl content and the price has doubled. I really did not like how they tried to get extra money by getting vip member to pay early to see the final episodes. It just spoiled it for people who did not pay because it was splashed all over social media. By the time the final was available I had seen all the high lights on social media.
wow... nicely written... Loved your analysis of the situations.
About We Tv.. they were really aggressive at start buying everything.. now they are falling back on BL content. I am not using vip service.. whatever they broadcast for free i do watch I an not paying extra. Nowadays almost all the series are available in youtube ( luckily) and it is easy in youtube ( browser version) to use vpn too.
I feel better now about about my tendency to be long-winded. 😇 Everything you wrote here provides good character analysis and context.
I will quibble about "that was not drunk sex, that was two people making love,'" because it absolutely was drunk sex. But it was drunk sex between two people, each of whom wanted to be having sex in that moment. I completely agree no one was taken advantage of, and that both parties were drunk. That absolutely matters on the consent issue, which raised no red flags for me (and I'm a stickler for consent). In this case, both parties were alert and sober enough to say "no" or physically push the other away---neither did. Each one thus owned the decision to drink to the point of inebriation, and each owned the consequences of his subsequent choices.
The "Mark is cheating on Ploy with a guy" crowd clearly have no clue how being gay worked in cultures where being gay was disfavored and marginalized. I saw nothing amiss, and I greatly appreciated your counterpoint.
@@johnmaster3748 I should have made that point clearer, yes they were both druck but it was not two drunk horny guy just trying to get off. You could see by the way they were kissing and touching each other they were making love.
I cringe a little reading this review, it brings up memories from my faraway youth and not entirely faraway adult life. Unfortunately I can relate to quite a few of the things people deem over the top or unrealistic. Drunk cheating…eeeer yes, not letting someone explain, he’ll yeah, once I didn’t speak to my now boyfriend (do you have boyfriends at my age, oh well) for almost half a year because he didn’t loved me like I loved him (or so I thought). I’m not the most adventurous person when it comes to love etc but I’m clearly an emotional bitch, haha. Sooo for you people finding it a bit unreal, it does happen. 😂. Ps. I’ve gotten better with age, I promise (still a bitch but I don’t cheat as my teenager self thank god)
@@strlen6441 thanks for the cute share
I finished watching Love Mechanics 2022 yesterday. I have adopted John's style of BL watching for the most part and start binge watching to be caught up for the final show. I would give this series a solid 8 as I loved War's acting and it would be one that I would re-watch again. I knew going in that this show's characters had some red flag behaviors so I was prepared. Strangely, I got second lead syndrome with Nuea which does not happen much with me.
"I binged the series thru episode 8...so, my [reactions] might differ from those who watched week-to-week." It's funny how binge watching changes perception of a series. I am quite convinced I'd have never connected with Not Me if I had started that at the beginning. I do almost everything via binge now. Allow myself 1-2 week-by-week series, then the rest I wait for the penultimate. Enjoying most of them more this way.
I always waited and binged until Not Me. That was the first one I ever watched week-by-week. It destroyed my work productivity every Monday morning. But it was also something else to experience the real-time reactions to things like the pride flag scene. I literally got twitter (something I’d never done because social media is sketchy) just for the discussions and analysis exploding over every ep. I haven’t been around that long, but it was something I’d never seen with a BL before or since.
So, which ones are you watching in real-time right now?
Wow I wonder how you guys binge watch these series is it better for healthier reasoning cause I have high anxiety and it’s higher when I don’t get sleep. I watch them week by week so I wonder if it’ll work out okay for me to binge watch these series I’m backup on. I also enjoyed Not Me the series it really good😍
@@jjjjustak-popstanfanlovek-7963 I think the not sleeping thing can cut both ways. On the plus side, if there's an anxiety inducing cliffhanger ending (Not Me was really good at these!), you don't have to wait a week. You can just start the next episode immediately. The danger is the next one also has a cliffhanger ending, so you end up not sleeping anyway because if a series is good, you just keep going. My trick, when I realize I need sleep or know I have to stop, start the next episode but pause it in the middle. After they resolve the tense situation from the previous episode but before the next tense situation fully develops.
@@johnmaster3748 Thank you sounds like a good idea I’m going to give a try this weekend so I can catch up
There were some obvious red flags but then improved acting, direction, solid writing, editing( inspite of all the extras - Yin's annoying friends) made it a fun watch. Compared to recent bls which are meh in all departments, this one is way better. I liked the osts too. What to do? Old fashioned cupcake, semantic error and Bad buddy probably come once in a while.
The last sentence! And I think Zahra has the correct perspective of LM. It's not in the same league as the trio she name checked. But while we wait for the next great one to emerge, Love Mechanics provides solid entertainment in the next tier down.
@@johnmaster3748 John, on your recco, I binged watched kamisama no ekohokki - Favouritism of God. I liked it though they could have wrapped it up in 6 eps Or so. The Double you had mentioned I saw the first ep but i found it boring, too psychological for my tired brain. After the second eps I gave up but the drama is good.
@@zahrabjinu not every series hits every person the same way. Thanks for trusting my recommendations enough to sample. The first episode of Double is the weakest, as it's almost entirely prolog. But I don't think Double will work with "tired brain." (I do think a lot of BL probably works best with tired brains that just want a happy show to ride along with.)
Recent BLs ARE meh in all departments, and I'm frustrated with the lack of good options that are currently airing. I can only watch SE so many times. LOL
Compared to the dreck that is Unforgotten Night and Check Out, Love Mechanics is pretty darn good.
A question that I’ve been wondering recently is whether recent BLs are really all that bad. If you were to pick up Unforgotten Night and plop it into 2020, I don’t think most of us would mind it that much. Bad Buddy wasn’t flawless (the last couple eps when they ran away draaaagged), but it was epic because it was different and better from what came before. After that, going back to the norm seems disappointing and worse than before. We’re bored with BLs this summer because we’ve gotten a taste of the sweet treats of quality production that we don’t want to go back to the plain bread and water that sustained us before.
I had decided not to watch this but your review has me reconsidering. Not sure if it is due to the summer doldrums but no Thai BLs are peaking my interest enough to want to watch them.
Who has time for Thai ones when the Japanese ones are home runs, and the Taiwanese ones are solid doubles? But, I'd say LM is worth the time.
@@johnmaster3748 Hi John. You automatically are going to get my thumbs up touting the Japanese BLs. They are a whole different flavor.
@@ronhilton9614 ditto! And they’re actually streaming internationally, which makes me even happier.
I have to agree with you too
I'm also reconsidering
@@clorindatine2610 just completed a re-watch (via a Reactor). Love Mechanics held up on second view without losing much impact. It won't be the best thing you ever see. But it's very good.
I dropped this as the rape/dubious con as the start of a 'relationship' was so vile to me and my interaction with MarkVee shippers was annoying. The back and forth with the Mark Vee relationship was tiring. Straight guy cheating on his girlfriend stringing a gay guy along trope I find disturbing. I too have dropped or not even started several BL series.
Yep, it's the right thing to do. Before getting married and a few years after marriage, going to the theatre to watch movies was something we would do a lot. But now I cry more easily at disturbing things in dramas & movies that my husband has gotten tired & worried about it. He keeps telling me not to watch just to wail & cry as if I am the most tortured soul on earth. The last movie I saw in the theatre was The Jungle Book - he refuses to come with me to the theatre for any serious movie. 😛
I’m normally right there with you on your reviews of series, but I actually liked this one more. But I could see how maybe the angst gets to be too much if you’re binging it. I watched it week-by-week and I think that made each episode delightfully gut-wrenching. I also love a deeply flawed and problematic character on a long redemption arch, so long as that redemption is justifiable and realistic. A pet peeve of mine are flawed characters that wake up one morning having realized the error of their ways and magically morph into a perfect human being. *poof* insta-Prince Charming. So, Bee’s two steps forward and one “well that stupid” back was oddly satisfying to me. It just made him seem like a real (albeit frustrating) person.
But I 💯 agree about the cheating double standard. It was honestly eye-rolling when Vee got upset about Ploy cheating when he was doing the exact same thing. I chalked it up to being a part of his flaws and a point in his future character growth. But I don’t know if that’s what the writers were going for or if that’s just my head cannon born out of wishful thinking.
As for Yin, I was sold on his acting. It’s true that he doesn’t compare to Ohm, but that’s because NO ONE can compare with Ohm on cheekiness. That’s an unobtainable bar to set - that boy was BORN cheeky. But all-in-all, I think Yin held his own acting opposite War, which is good enough to convince me. If he can work a scene with War and not come out looking horribly mismatched, that’s an accomplishment.
I’d give the series a 9~9.5/10. The only part I didn’t like was the boxing arch that involved fighting over who was allowed to date Mark - a horrible trope that I’d be happy to never see in another drama ever again.
I find instead the story of redemption exaggerated .. but come on, he didn't even kill someone! It is not the end of the world what happened, Mark's reaction was too exaggerated in both productions but here it never ended. Vee had to go through fire and flames and it honestly feels like too much.
The boxing arch is riicolous, as I said: a useless humiliation of the character who does not even win ... but is still forgiven, as if it were an act of pity ... if you win you can woo Mark and you are forgiven, if you lose you lose everything ... but what is it ... anyway, same scene in My Engineer and in fact the director is the same ...
Damn, BLC, when you break it down you really break it down. My attitude towards this series was "been there, done that". I agree strongly about En of Love and Tossara (and other points.) And War, you ARE a one-man show I always want to watch! Got to re-consider watching now.
I have to add the dorector of photography and camera nailed it. It was so warm and beatiful, reminescent of some late '80 European movies like subway, la boom...
Love Mechanics was the only story i could finnish watching out of the 3 stories of En Of Love.10/10 for the mini series for me. I get the hype they got, hence the decision to make it into a series i was just affraid that by doing so it could ruin the magic (for me) & not gonna lie, some parts actually did this .. (for me :)) However, War being the actor he is & Yins acting havig improved significantly, I could enjoy the parts that were still very well written as well as acted out. If it wasnt for the (unnecessary) comedy approach for some parts & had they kept the original scenery ( the rooms- especially Marks condo room ) i would seriously give it 10/10 but like this.. 8/10 & im sad bc i really liked the original story & had high hopes for this... They are both good actors & some scenes were flawless but it wasnt enough for full score this time, sorry.
I agree that Vee acting significantly improved-
Also liked the replacement actors in support roles much better and especially the doc from Tossara
I also liked the replaced actors... and not to mention.. esp the doc... hehe. .
for me they chose the wrong director ...
@@justdave3153 fortunately the actors of Tossara in this production were a little better, those of the miniseries unwatchable
As someone who liked the 2020 3.5 episodes version of LM and watched the 2022 version a week at a time, I was impressed with the new version (my rating is 9). A lot of the additional content was from the novel. Some was added, I think, to make Vee seem like less of a lowlife than he was in the 2020 Wabi Sabi version. Some of the new bits, like the emotionally disturbed man's grabbing Mark/War, were hokey. However, Yin's acting definitely had improved, and War Wanarat's was even better than before. All of this being said, I don't think they should plan a sequel. It's time for War, Yin and their Rookie Thailand pals to move on to other projects.
This was an example, in my view, of a very good Thai bl effort. I am looking forward to 180 Degrees Longitude, but I stopped Check Out after 3 episodes. I think Thailand still is in the running for bl productions, even though Korea and Japan currently are streaming several excellent ones.
I’m hate-watching Check Out. For the life of me, I can’t tell you why. But it’s such a train wreck that I can’t take my eyes off of it.
"Some of the scenes [in the last episode] looked like fillers." I am watching this review about 90 minutes after pausing ep. 9 because I was bored. I went into Love Mechanics with a clean slate, having never watched En of Love. I found the first six or so episodes exceeding my expectations. I feel the series as a whole lost steam about when Mark saw the interaction with Ploy, jumped to conclusions, and then (in typical BL fashion) no explanatory moment was allowed so the writers could milk that drama until the milk was sour. Later episodes weren't bad per se, they just lacked the verve apparent in the early going.
I guess I should go finish the penultimate now. "Random character introduced at last minute for cheap drama" is one of my pet peeves though. Maybe I should stroll thru Hyde Park instead. I mean that's a "rerun" for me but "tired London tourist" trope seems more appealing than "tired lazy
BL writing" trope. At least there's fresh air and 🌞 sunshine.
"Milk that drama until the milk was sour"---a belly laugh for me. I think those words are on a banner on some production office walls.
@@ronhilton9614 Making your belly jiggle (from laughter, mind you) is my sole motivation when I compose these bon mots.
Epilogue: it required several more interruptions before I finally finally ished ep. 9 (after breezing through early eps that left me wanting more). I share Mr Critic's disdain for the boxer subplot (that’s on top of the aforementioned resentment toward the "last minute plot complication" aspect of that story). Two thoughtsabout the ending:
1. War's acting as Mark flirts with Vee was other level convincing. The come hither look Mark shoots Vee right after saying, "I thought you could fix my TV" almost melted my tablet.
2. The writers are so stupid. How anyone could think that stupidity with the parents at the end made for a more dramatic cliffhanger than the compelling seduction that was underway before Mom and Dad interrupted is beyond me. (Seriously, no one noticed two people entering thru a locked door?) Thai writers don't seem to understand that their job as writers is to evoke an emotional response. Vee and Mark getting frisky after multiple episodes' estrangement was exactly the vibe a BL series should create. Interrupting that moment for some cheap parental disapproval cliffhanger? That, folks, is why non-Aof Thai BL doesn't compare to Korean, Taiwanese, or Japanese series. Those series leave us feeling the feels.
@@johnmaster3748 Exactly! There was no need for the parents at the end. It was annoying instead they could have gone for a beach trip - the whole gang. After all, It's a favourite thai bl trope. No thai bl is complete without frolicking on the beach for 1 eps,IMO.
@@johnmaster3748 Okay, okay. I will have the magic Amazon Fairy deliver to you bon bons for your bon mots.
I enjoyed this extended version a lot! At the beginning I was scared, that they may ruined the series with the new version like they did with my TinCan in Chance to love, cuz the magic was lost, they changed the whole story, but thank God they did not! Some episodes was really hart to watch, cuz Vee was acting very mean towards Mark. After the last episode I really hope, that I will able to see Vee´s brother and Mark´s friend story...
Yeah I also wanna see Yoo and Kimphan's story...
Without reading anyone elses review, It grew on me big time and it was one of the series I anticipated every week. The original short stories didn't impress me at all but this extended series was way better. That said, i got a new favorite!!! About youth is the one. Super cute without being bland, i can't wait for the next episode!! The acting is top notch so far. Add to that an amazing OST! The main (to be) couple is absolutely fab but what tugs my heart is the second couple with the trans (?) girl, she's so cute and sad, lets hope the gentle guy in the coffee shop will heal her heart. 💕
i am yet to watch About Youth... but I will surely. Was looking forward to it.. just had no idea the first 2 episodes aired already. Thanks
@@blcritic I look forward to a review.😄
And there the review came, thanks. ☺️
Just finished ep 4 - I’ve read the novel and seen all the En of Love.
War is still great, removing the shipper is good.
Still a lot of static plot and dialogue-
“What are we drinking/eating/vomiting tonight?”
In ep 4 Ploy says “ Sorry “ at least 10 times.
The characters are all deeply flawed and was hoping they’d fix the “Ploy wronged Vee- Vee weeps while never admitting he cheated on Ploy”
Missed opportunities but not terrible
Oh, thanks for the mention. Thanks for the ego boost. 😄
hehe.. Thank you and Sam for positive reviews, else I would have skipped it like most of the current ones.
I really want to watch this coz of War. I have seen clips and was impressed. But I am really turned off of walking red flags. But I will try again.
What do I think of this series. Hmmm 🤔
War! AKA Mark, that’s all I think of this series. The show is overall Okay, but, I want war away from this cast, I want him with a cast his level - not trying to be mean, I just want to see more from him, because because we all know he can do even more.
His expressions and impressions, the way he carried the character, etc. God, you just got to love him (War)
And then Mark; like you said, he knew what he was getting into. Whenever his choices come back to bite is little behind, I was like, yo, we knew what we was getting into 💅🏾💅🏻💅💅🏼
While i was watching the series.. I thought the same thing.. hope War gets to act with actors who are on par with him.
Two Unrelated Recommendations:
1. Many of us have expressed interest in a gay/BL series about older people. That series is "Uncoupled" on Netflix, which explores how you reassert your individuality while unraveling decades of coupledom. Not recommended for anyone who experienced a recent traumatic break-up. Or anyone who finds annoying the existence of Neil Patrick Harris. (You know who you are.)
2. The ABBA Voyage concert. The technological achievement behind the Abbatars astounds. Fully three dimensional and they looked solid. If you didn't know they were animated, you wouldn't know. And the flesh-and-blood humans in the audience bring a total party atmosphere. So many languages heard, too. I would gush, but the Abba fans among you don't need this encouragement, and the rest don't care.
Oh I have listened to ABBA - I enjoy their uncomplicated lyrics, simple, fun music. It's easy listen.
What!? Some unnamed person is angry at Neil Patrick Harris' Mother for birthing him? Ha ha That made my day. Now I feel bullied into being mature(ish) and watching Uncoupled tonight. (The bullying is a joke, the watching is not.)
@@ronhilton9614 as the dumpee in this series, the script allows few opportunities for "smirking" NPH to emerge. But if "pouting" NPH grates you similarly, you may struggle. Did I mention the gratuitous nude scene? I did not. I know this crowd is far too sophisticated to watch any series just for an occasional flash of a--wait, isn't this the same crowd that found Kinn Porsche a hoot? Can't have been for the "clever" screenplay. So maybe I ought to have mentioned the nude scene. Which, actually, makes sense in story context, so "gratuitous " was unfair.
hehe.. should i do a review of Uncoupled??
@@blcritic you should, if the series speaks to you in some way. It's hard to hit the dating pool when the Rules of Dating have been rewritten since the last time you were single.
I haven't watched the last episode yet, but I have to admit that I liked it more than I thought I would. The original LM was only so-so, and this is a step up, but the original bar was set fairly low.
I'm torn about how to rate it. There is a LOT of crap airing right now. Compared to some of those, this is easily an 8.5, but compared to other BLs that aired earlier in the year, I'm not sure it deserves more than a 7. Maybe the final episode will help me make up my mind.
I completely agree about both the improved acting and writing. The problematic story line was toned down, and that also helped.
I suppose I'll give it a 7.5, but reserve the right to raise the score based on the final episode.
Very True... the ratings are relative to the current scenario.. most of them are really really bad.
Completely agree with the review.
I don't normally allow myself to watch episodes when still airing., I prefer to binge watch. You get the real feel of the whole series at once.
But this time I decided not to binge watch and honestly, I dropped it after they made up, I think in episode 7 or 8 .I couldn't see what they could've come up with, to fill up 2 or 3 extra episodes; and reading these comments ....well glad I didn't waste my time.
War has definitely made me wanting to watch this series further each week. He's brilliant. His emotions and facial expressions 👏🏽....Wow.
Another thing, I will had that watching a series every week give you a different feel than when binge watching it. Just to say, I probably wouldn't have dropped it if i had binge watch it. So overall its wasn't despicable to wstch as a series. Though i would say, the bar is so high after "kinnPorsche" and "Cutie pie" that, these upcoming series would have to up their game.
War is definitely the best thing about the series. He's so good! Completely agree about KP setting the bar extremely high.
I didn't see Ploy's character as a vamp, more used to show neither was really happy in the relationship and be cause of habit stayed together. To me the cheating was use to neither Vee or Ploy are an innocent or wronged party. An I get not feel to sorry for Mark because he knew what the situation was going in.
I love this series I have not watched the ending yet. I was excited when it came out as I waited for this series and I was not disappointed😊I enjoy this ship when together
I loved it, for me it was perfect.
Have you been watching Minato coin laundry?
I just finished seeing eps aired as of today. I don't know what to make of it. I appreciate that minato controls himself knowing that Shin is a minor and becomes a friend instead but that's about it. It seems like hero worship from Shin's side rather than love. If it was meant to be a 'slice of life' kind of story then it's fine otherwise there is no story as such. High schooler so dedicated about following an older man running a laundromat seems out of place of sorts. The anime kind of acting by Minato also didn't vibe with the subject matter. The actor who played Asuka is good - just the right amount frivolity. I didn't dislike the drama but it left me underwhelmed wondering what to make of it.
I watched the first few episodes... then i have kept it on hold until it finishes.. I will ultimately have to watch it but not now...
I loved everything about this series ❤👍😘😘
I watch this series and it’s not a bad thing but I rather watch this than other BL series that the acting was totally annoying that’s why I watch it and I give them 8 score good job 👏 yin and war 😊🫶🏻
LOVE MECHANICS is up there behind BAD BUDDY as far as I'm concerned ... L❤VE YinWar ... you can rewatch and rewatch over and over again just like Bad Buddy which I have several times ...
love mechanics is one of the better BLs to come out of Thailand this year.
I liked Love Mechanics! I thought it was quite good.
I come from the generation where it was nearly impossible to see any gay or LGBTQ+ films unless you were in the Castro late night. So maybe I like just having something in my preferred genre available, who knows. A little romance, a little angst, a HEA ending...why not.
The BLs that are available are so much better now. Not all are watchable, but many more than half are. I can't watch the straight romance at all, but I will watch some non-romance Asian dramas.
Still, I can't complain, except to say: dang!, why didn't this BL movement start when I was younger!!!????
I did watch it and enjoyed it very much. I also have reverted to kdramas, but wanted your recommendations on laikorns, please.
Currently the Lakorn I am watching is Bad Romeo starring Mario M and Yaya.. They say the first ep of Wiwa Fah Laep is also funny.. but yet to watch that.
Meh....this series could have done better ... more than anything else the unnerving series of ex boyfriends or girlfriends, ex friends or pseudo advisors who instead of doing well make things worse, I find that it was a dilution of broth with water the whole story of the ex of Mark and also the question of Ploy could be summed up as an agony before the final happy ending.
I find that Mark's reaction is exaggerated, showing that he absolutely does not open the inner drama of Vee but while in the En of Love miniseries at least the situation hurried in a slice, here as I said, the "punishment of Vee" never ended, to the point of exaggeration of the Boxing match (but come on ... it seems to me a ridiculous way to show that you love a person). But knowing that the director of the series is the same as My Engineer I understand the reason for the scene , because a similar antic was also in My Engineer as well as moron friends, far from supporting his friend.
I wonder, is it a constant of Thai bl?
Do they find it funny?
What is it, some kind of initiation test?
I ask to understand, however the director obviously likes these man-to-man challenges a lot (maybe they think they make the male figure more virile ... who knows) I just say that it is an ancient legacy that is part of the stone or prehistoric civilization , show your love with a fist fight and think of redeeming yourself in this way today is a little laugh, as well as entrusting the choice of an important thing like a relationship to the fate of a boxing match ... if you win I forgive you and go out with you otherwise bye ... but seriously? Bro....😂 Show me your love with concrete gestures, thank you.
Ultimately he could have been shot better, the character of Vee had to receive more understanding and Mark less the victim since, in fact, it can be said that he entered by arrogance in the story between two people , a story that, however shaky, must still have. an end before Mark got in the way.
With this, I do not absolve the character of Ploy: too cowardly to face the reality of her relationship, he betrayed first and behind him and as if that were not enough he also wanted to return to the fold. Give yourself peace my girl, go further and do not bore us again with your whining and your little credible grimaces! the characters of these toxic girlfriends or ex-girlfriends are completely useless for me, they only serve to make the female gender pass as emotionally dependent on a man to be happy so if I can't have him I combine all colors and enter into existential crises absolutely ridiculous, making me hateful to everyone. I am sorry but I do not feel sympathy or pity for these figures and I am pleased when in the end they somehow pay for it. By the way my love, this is a Bl, so admit defeat and get over it
Moral of everything; War and Yin very good and versatile actors, apart from P Bar all the others without infamy or praise, the direction I did not particularly like and the script too boring in some points, especially towards the end, with a series of added characters absolutely not necessary for the purpose of the story, but I have seen worse, so the final grade for me is 8.
