Yes but that man is not Dave Chappelle. That's not his clone either ( I don't believe in that stuff). But i do believe that is not the original Dave we all know from back in the day
Had three teachers like him in high school for different subjects ( English, algebra 3, world history ) They were the easiest classes because the teachers knew how to teach
Has anyone noticed Dave doesn’t really tell jokes anymore but is instead having the most profound conversations with his audience I have ever witnessed.
Yup thats why I'm saying it ain't the same guy idc what anyone says. His voice is way different n his eyes r like dead and another thing is he talks about people dying or killings n shit like that. U can't tell me this dude didn't sell his soul n worships the devil. His head is even bigger his built is big the real dave was mad skinny. Also he never put one pant leg up n shit like that. Hes not funny 😐 the original Dave didn't even have to try to be funny he was always makin people laugh. Its so annoying that no one can see what's goin on n how much these celebrities n shit are fooling us.
When your comedy career has reached a point where you can literally just TALK to your audience, you're goat status. Carlin's whole style was pretty much based on this and it's phenomenal. Best kind of comedy bc you laugh but you also learn to open your mind to new concepts
My parents watched a lot of stand-up when I was a kid but I never bothered watching most comedians. Recently though, I’ve been getting into it a lot, and I absolutely love the way he just talks. He tells really funny, sometimes offensive jokes, but he also has such a chill demeanor and the way he talks is so pleasing to just listen to. I could listen to him talk about life and make jokes for hours on end.
I would 100% pay to just listen to him like this instead of telling jokes. Hes Absolutely hilarious, but he's entertaining as hell no matter what he's talking about on stage.
I think they were perhaps not aloof, but rather intrinsically engaged. The 'set' he's putting in front of them, it's not really a traditional funny stories and jokes with punchlines. It's not a comedy set that you can sit easily through, laugh, don't, misplace a laugh, it's relaxed and doesn't matter. Instead, he's covering some serious, personal, emotive and quite a shade darker issues, some of which he's clearly unhappy about. And at the same time he's being funny in places, as that's the way he is, naturally. But because of this deeper level of importance, the content and relevance, for Chapelle at least, of the themes, the crowd isn't simply just amused, and able to simply laugh at each punctuating wrap-up. They are listening seriously but still enjoying the way he tells his story, but they're thinking, and aware there's more to regard here than simply how tickled each line makes them feel. Hence, as they're genuinely engaged with him, that relationship is different to the easy, routine laughter of a pure comedy performance. That's my reason for thinking they may not be aloof, but actually really are not sure where to laugh, because they are really listening, and it's not all just 'funny.'
Exactly!!! "They said I smoke crack. Impossible. I'm a devout Muslim. I don't smoke or drink, but I do now CAUSE YOU RUINED MY LIFE" *Crowd laughs and claps.* No. That's sad! Listen to him!.
I thought you exaggerating at first, but after getting to the middle and towards the end where he started getting real deep about his experience…yeah. That crowd was dumb as rocks

"I was a devout muslim, I didn't smoke or drink, but I do now because you ruined my life" that's an incredible level of honesty from one of the greatest comedians of all time.
Dave was doing a similar q&a after his shiw when he returned to montreal around 2013 or so. The show was t that good good because guys just kept I terrupting him with Chappelle show remarks. I was in the first row and it was getting late. I'm Muslim too and kept looking at my watch because dit was Ramadan. I had to eat because we had to fast the next day. He noticed and made fun of me. I told him the reason and as soon as he answered the next question ... He ended it. Didn't have to he is still a Muslim after all. He was high as a kite but We had a small talk and Dave probably doesn't even remember me or interaction but that was my fav part of any comedy show I've been to and being in MTL...I've seen almost everybody at the JFL.
@@salman13 Thats such a cool story, I saw his interview with Letterman a few months back and I think he still considers himself Muslim. @@somebodyelse6673 he’s definitely more than a comedian. One of the best ever and he’s clearly ascended into a different style. This still had me laughing even though he wasn’t just trying to get laughs the whole time
No one will appreciate this level of transparency until we see the effects of what happens next. There is so much to like about Dave, and this speech will transcend his legacy to new highs. More than a comedy, he is trying to change an industry by being the first to criticize the system
I love the fact that he's gotten to the point where he can fight back. He's now big enough to where he can say what he wants and no longer has to worry the repercussions ruining him. He is like a comedic gladiator who has captured the people to a degree that the elite are now scared of him. I hope you read the comment Dave, and I want to continue the fight but don't let the anger destroy you.
That's because of all the celebrities and famous people out there Dave Chappelle is one of the few who's fans are not just fans but heavy supporters. No one says they love him and hasn't done anything to prove it. The best part is even though he rose to the top and give all the momentum that got him there to us. All the credit that put him where he is, he bluntly gives it to his fans in the form of pure honesty. This man is a treasure that everyone can have and he devotes himself to giving as much of himself in the form of integrity. We're all literally his business and he acknowledged us.
He needs to amp up that anger times a million to "heel stomp soft baby skulls" rage and nuke The Comedy Bureaucracy. All the power to Dave. I am subscribing to netflix just to support him and his effort to destroy The Comedy Bureaucracy.
Yo that what thought to myself! The clapped at a moment that wasn’t funny. They didn’t understand! I had to watch it twice to realize he was absolutely serious the entire time!
Dave has achieved late stage Carlin. He's completely honest, thought provoking and commands your attention absolutely. We're no longer laughing in amusement at his jokes but an uncomfortable laughter at a truth we all know but nobody speaks.
As soon as he starts talking I can't help but listen. It just locks you into it. It's incredible. For me when people start talking too long I just zone out. Not the case here.
Didn’t laugh once, but I enjoyed every minute of him being that candid. Especially how he talked about the guy saying “I’ll just take it.” And when he so we’ll explained the guy grabbing him at the card table. He’s an excellent story teller.
I laughed a few times. The way he said "bad bitch" was funny Edit: but yeah the people who woo'd and clapped after he said HBO is streaming his showing, right after he said they screwed him are idiots
"They said I smoked crack! Impossible, I was Muslim! I didn't smoke or drink but I do now because you ruined my life!" Damn, that one hurt. Especially when you remember that he couldn't even be by his mothers side when she was dying because of contracts demanding he keep working despite knowing her condition. This industry truly is a monster.
Dave is the greatest celeb from the Dayton Ohio area. He put a show on after the mass shooting and never sought publicity for it.He called up friends and made it a really big lineup (not that he couldn't carry it alone but he broadened the appeal) He donated the money to the victims & their survivors. It is those type of acts that show the heart of the man. He will forever have my admiration for his actions

The irony is that him & Ye have the same frustrations with contracts and the industry. Dave is just better at expressing it with wisdom vs expressing it through unprocessed emotions.
I love the fact that Dave doesn't even need to do stand up anymore. He can just tell his stories while sitting down. So comfortable, so genuine. That's why it's so good
"Or, I could just take it" This was brilliant storytelling. He narrated two real life stories that happened in his youth and perfectly correlated them with what was happening to him right now, structured it as a joke with the punchline being the life lessons he learnt in his youth. You can see for the whole time where he was going with the story, but you don't see the punchline coming. Reminds me of his "so I kicked her in the pussy " joke. Dude's amazing.
@Mass Debater A lot of humor is based on truth. Chappelle's jokes aren't your typical standup jokes. He narrates meaningful stories but structures them in such a way as to include in a punchline in the end. If Chappelle's stories are fairy tales, the moral of the story would be the punchline. You take them seriously and not view them as jokes, but it's still really clever and quite funny when you hear them for the second or third time because this time you notice the subtle details and the mechanism of the plot. I think Chappelle still has a long way to go and I feel like his best material is still yet to come.
If not for Dave Chappelle, I would've crossed many thresholds that I would very much regret today. I can honestly say he has not only made my life infinitely more enjoyable, but he has saved my life. He will forever have my utmost appreciation, but he has, also, more than earned his share of my greatest respect.
Mr Franks' comment should have hundreds more likes than 100. If people learned how to be, for example, a principled voter (by recognizing principles in the things candidates running for political office say) then we would have better leaders. But most people want to vote on personality or for the system that a candidate seems to be purchased by. It's sad. You can totally see that Dave is teaching us principles here and they're memorable because they are taught through the story/pure testimony of his life.
Please stop idolizing him. I love his comedy, too. He doesn't care about any of you. Him complaining about being offered millions, while also claiming he felt like a slave, is beyond asinine. It's comparable to 22 year old pro athletes, with little actual life experience, complaining about their multimillion dollar contracts. When will the average person see thru the facade?
Dave understands the power he has now. He's not 15 anymore. He won't be bullied. Life is a cold dish. The lesson's learned are valuable to the continued survival and maintenance of one's sanity.
This new special just epitomized what you wrote. We got a bully that affects everyone today, in which pressing the wrong button will end in severe consequences. The bullies are trying to get him now, and he doesn't seem to be backing down.
The build up is just ruthless and perfect at the same time. He is a master at his craft. The parallel stories are just prolific. The way he drags you in a dang funny story with a serious note and a important life lesson combined in one. That’s why he’s the GOAT of stand-up comedy.
I know the term "socially intelligent" gets thrown around a lot these days, but Dave is one of the smartest people I've ever seen in the sense of being socially aware. He can tell such a great story, but he can get you so caught up in the story that you almost forget there's gonna be a punch line coming. And not just a good punch line, a GREAT punch line!
I got goosebumps like 3 times during this, this monologue is unbelievably powerful. When he talks about being good from the jump at what he does, how could you disbelieve that? Dude was born to tell stories.
If he was that good and that poised he would have had more confidence than to sign a contract because "what else was I going to do." There is enough here that contradicts itself to know that he is just trying to be George Carlin.
Dave is incredibly intelligent. This section of this stand up didn’t even feel like a comedy show, it was just real cold hard facts. And he’s such a phenomenal speaker that he keeps you engaged every step of the way without sounding preachy.
Dave, that was a good speech. And I'm sure you are not reading this comment.. but I'll still have to write this anyway: NETFLIX is not any better. They didn't do that to make you feel better. Deep down, I wish that he told somebody to record all his unaired shows, every spectacle he ever took part in, every viewing of his craft, recorded and kept in safe keeping so that when he dies, he can give a chance for everyone to see all of his works, unedited and unfiltered, like a fly on the wall, without taking anything from the audiences that saw him in person, as those people will always retain the experience of seeing him live, but still not letting amazing work go to waste by passing away while giving those who never saw all of him ever be able to see it for themselves. I think it's the least that could be done for society to witness the greatness of this man's mind.
I think that those in Hollywood don’t see actors or entertainers as the outside world does. There so used to seeing these entertainers that they only see them as regular people and they do not hold them so high as they are from the fans so the power they hold over fans is not recognized by those running Hollywood and they become as ordinary to those running Hollywood as any other person and they have no issue just destroying some one if the money is right or they don’t toe the like and then they know there is more people out there to fill these spots. For every spot in Hollywood there are 5000 people to fill every one of them so it’s nothing for them to destroy someone just to raise up another who will gladly do there bidding and who will eat shit haplly to keep there new spot.

this crowd has to be the most aloof audience ever. it’s like they don’t know the right time to clap or time to be quiet.
love your videos!
They think punchlines are coming. He's not telling a joke. He's furiously angry and upset.

His ability to captivate his audience is incredible. He just had every single person in the palm of his hand. His comedy recently is more philosophy than comedy. But still amazing to behold. His bits are so fantastically orchestrated.
Do you ever think that there are many "Dave Chappelle's" running around amongst us, and we only pay attention to the one on the tv or movie screen? What Dave is saying is not revolutionary from the Black, Melinated, or Pan-African perspective. It's human....
