You should've added an Elder Guardian or two to the mix so you can't easily break yourself out quick enough to outspeed the lava. I agree building it in the nether above a giant lava lake could also be quite productive if it weren't for the ghasts.
It would have been smart to build this in the Nether; not only would the lava flow faster, but if there happened to be a bed in the room... I'm sure it would fit the bill
If you're interested in why the contraption at 4:00 doesn't work, it has to do with how pistons work depending on whats giving them power. When you power a piston directly from a button, doesn't matter if there is redstone dust inbetween, the piston will be fully extended after 3 gameticks (1.5 redstone ticks). But if you put a repeater, comparator etc. The piston will extend in 2 gameticks (1 redstone tick). With the gametick offset, the block is moving while the arrow is being fired Idk if it still works, but we used to solve it by having piston with a redstone block power another piston with a redstone block directly or with redstone dust line in between them. This causes the 2nd piston the move in 3 gameticks and every other pistont thats powered the same as I mentioned before, will move in 3 game ticks too. Why it all works like this, Idk. It's just Minecraft things

Or you could jump somewhere between right before and two seconds of breaking a block so that the skulker will be buisy detecting the jump while you break a block/walk around
The reason your slider didn't work is actually due to the tick phase order. Player inputs process after block events (pistons use this phase) so the game waits till the next tick to make the piston extend. Scheduled ticks (from repeaters in this case) process before block events so there's no apparent 1gt delay that you usually see with a player input. Pushing a redstone block also causes the delay because the moving_piston block turns into a regular block in the block entity phase (after block events) so again the game waits till the next tick to power the piston.
Should have tried giving the repeaters an extra extension. The reason it fires through the wall is due to the wall turning into a "falling entity" so with the extension of the second repeater it fires well the wall is just normal blocks (when it stops at the top for the piston)
The reason the dispenser doesn't work when a repeater goes into it is because pistons fire a tick later when powered directly by player input compared to when powered by a redstone component with delay. For example, if you were to power one piston by player input, and another with a repeater coming from that player input, there would be a 1 gametick (0.5 redstone tick) delay between the two instead of a 2 gametick (1 redstone tick) delay like you would expect Kinda surprises me that you never learned about this after all this time, but yeah :p
"honestly i dont know if i should be happy or sad that im really good at killing people" - Mumbo 2023 this is gonna go down in some sorta book whatever it might be
I believe the issue you encountered with the arrows shooting through the wall is due to the update order, specifically between the piston that pushes down and the repeater that powers the dispenser. When a player powers something, it can actually cause these sub-tick timings to be different. Delaying the bottom piston by powering it with QC and having a different piston powered by the same line update it *might* fix the issue when it's powered by something other than a player directly.
I also didn't know that Lava logging isn't a thing. I feels pretty intuitive. Also, you could have named the wardens "You really pressed that?" (or some other taunting message), and it would have come up as a death message
The only reason I can think of why 'one repeater" in the arrow trap caused issues is it would make the input signal last 1 tick longer which would throw off the timing.
All you have to do is sneak over to the bed and stand on the side that has the pillow, the arrows don't hurt you there, and the floor retracting doesn't move the bed. Proof of arrows not hitting the bed at 4:38.
i love how the floor removal and lava can both be countered by simply pillaring up one block... effectively nothing else you have ot worry about as ling as you know not to open any containers or press buttons
5:30 That's called quantum physics Mumbo. It's a complicated science. To put that in perspective, it's kind of like building a intercontinental ballistic missile with only duct tape and cardboard, then being mad that it only made it past your backyard.
You could release this world as a challenge to see if anyone can escape it without dying (requiring it to be a hardcore world as well) and see how many people take up the challenge.
Feels like a bit of an oversight that you can stand on top of the storage blocks. I'd jump, to throw off the break-detection sensor for that half a second, and break the walls to make my escape.
With the arrows through the wall, you could have a redstone block pushed into place behind the first repeater to still activate it remotely though the system you would have made but be powered by one repeater: through the power from the redstone block :)
Unfortunately it's pretty trivial to escape this room due to Skulk sensors being pretty terrible. They can only process one signal at a time for a few seconds, meaning while the sensor is processing something else it won't detect the action it's meant to. If you crouch over to the bed or the slabs and get up on them, you can now freely walk around without falling into the pit, furthermore the walking will trigger the other sensors in the area meaning they're stuck for a few seconds processing your walk signal. You could start breaking a block, and when you're almost done breaking it you just walk a little and now the sensors are on cooldown when you actually break the block and so nothing happens, repeat until you escape. If you choose a good location and you break the logs you can then place them above you to have the lava flow around you, as long as you're standing in a good location, at which point you're basically just free to break blocks as well.
Why don't you build the trap house and see if you can do it, after all it's easy to talk it's harder to prove. plus it would make a good vid "I escaped Mumbo's killing room"
Whole contraption is amazing, but there is small issue with flaming arrows at 8:00 If you are close enough to other two walls there is a chance you won't be hit at all
I know of a way out! take a step on the slabs, and during the cooldown of the skulk sensors break a block. Repeat until you are out. Or fall in the pit with the block and perform a very clutch landing and then just break your way out the side of the lava pit. Will take a while on account of the obsidian (15 minutes per block if I remember correctly).
I think I did figure out one possible way to escape and disarm the traps. If you mine several block, and create a little "shelter", you could either block out the arrows, or shelter from the lava. As long as the button isn't pressed, you're good. A really clever way to fix this could be to have a detection system for when the player breaks a block, an elder guardian spawns in giving them mining fatigue
I don't think you'd get around to breaking more than one block..let alone being able to pick it up, then you'd have to pray keep inventory is on 😅I don't think this solution is gonna work!
*HOW TO ESCAPE* 1. Sneak over to the Planks on the side of the room that don't move when the floor drops out 2. Unsneak and start breaking the walls 3. When the wall is about to break, take a step in any direction as long as your cursor doesn't move off the block. If your timing was right, it sculk sensor that releases the lava will trigger without releasing the lava due to the redstone signal not being high enough, and in the cooldown period, the block will break, allowing you to succesfully break a block. 4. Repeat steps 2-3 to make a 2x1 hole in the wall 5. walk to your freedom I just outsmarted Mumbo Jumbo himself Edit: if you just change out the sculk sensors for calibrated sculk sensors, this setup doesn't work and you are just boned
Man, I don't know if you've already done it, but what about a traditional puzzle kill room - something where you have to solve a puzzle in time before the walls close in and crush you - or to make it easier, the roof, which would leave the floor for puzzles.
A minor improvement that would have probably saved you a lot of headache. Use a shreiker to activate the redstone. This means any sound would activate the redstone, but only if the sound originates with the player.
You *might be able to use some of the traps to counter other traps, like arrow bombarding the wardens… maybe. But you could have a decentish time breaking 1 log then pillaring above the lava in the middle if you are fast, then going through the roof. If you built this in the nether instead though it would work FAR faster and be much more deadly, plus all fire damage is scarier there
He mostly calibrated it so you couldn't use traps against other traps..not sure why you'd want to as arrows won't do anything to lava and vis versa, and lava+arrows would take too long to kill 4 wardens (you'd be long dead before the wardens)
this is really the only way to make something grain proof you have to distract him with a crazy Redstone box and hide your valuables somewhere else in a hole somewhere lol

You could build a couple of much faster to break blocks into the walls at key points, like those logs -- because you would've almost had time to break two of them and flee before the lava got you. Then, you can include a trap in a hidden hallway behind those "weak points". I recommend a short parkour course while being chased by lava, followed by a dripstone pit after you succeed the last jump.
Man, the only thing that could have made this more deadly is building it in the nether so the bed kills you too

Idk if it still works, but we used to solve it by having piston with a redstone block power another piston with a redstone block directly or with redstone dust line in between them. This causes the 2nd piston the move in 3 gameticks and every other pistont thats powered the same as I mentioned before, will move in 3 game ticks too.
Why it all works like this, Idk. It's just Minecraft things

Just powering it with a piston instead of a repeater should fix it. It might even work by just replacing the 2nd repeater with redstone dust
I also didn't know that Lava logging isn't a thing. I feels pretty intuitive.
Also, you could have named the wardens "You really pressed that?" (or some other taunting message), and it would have come up as a death message

Very happy to see Mumbo using the sculk and sculk frequencies! this room almost seems like vault meant for a Grian LOL
petition to get people in this room and get their reactions 🤣
Well, the best effect would only come if it were a surprise, which it no longer is because everyone knows the traps now.
Hi
No way, it's Twich

OMG RUclips!!!
You should really invite some hermits to your killing chamber see how many tries before they break out or if they can.. I'd love to watch them try!
Hi mumbo, thanks for making great videos!

Wholesome
litterally a few seconds after the vid i like your dedication
The only reason I can think of why 'one repeater" in the arrow trap caused issues is it would make the input signal last 1 tick longer which would throw off the timing.
This trap would be 100% foolproof if it wasn’t for chorus fruit
I can only hope this is research for the vault. Watching Grian fight himself to press buttons is highly entertaining.
I love how calmly mumbo says
“This room is incredibly dangerous”
At the start 😂😂
All you have to do is sneak over to the bed and stand on the side that has the pillow, the arrows don't hurt you there, and the floor retracting doesn't move the bed. Proof of arrows not hitting the bed at 4:38.
i love how the floor removal and lava can both be countered by simply pillaring up one block...
effectively nothing else you have ot worry about as ling as you know not to open any containers or press buttons
Cool video I love when the Pistons like go, so the flow will be removed
5:30 That's called quantum physics Mumbo. It's a complicated science. To put that in perspective, it's kind of like building a intercontinental ballistic missile with only duct tape and cardboard, then being mad that it only made it past your backyard.
Nah man mumbo opened a portal to a parallel dimension at 6:50 he knows his stuff
@@ikosaheadrom No, that's just bending light around a solid object to make it appear invisible. That's not that hard to do.
Now mumbo finally has an appropriate place to store the books of witchcraft he uses to understand redstone
Ah, Mumbo is preparing security for his vault on HC, I see.
I like it when people include failed ideas or things that didn't work out well for them, it makes them more relatable ig.
Mumbo: *mocks someone for pressing buttons
Grian: "And i took that personally"
It’s always a good day when mumbo uploads!
You could release this world as a challenge to see if anyone can escape it without dying (requiring it to be a hardcore world as well) and see how many people take up the challenge.
You can easily escape with fire resistance. It’s the only way someone can escape (I think)
@@rafaelabdelshaheed9489 But if they spawned in it without items that isn't an option (which is what I was originally thinking but didn't mention).
@@13KuriMaster That makes more sense. You’re right then.
2:34 I think you should have used the Calibrated Sculk Sensor, if it existed back then
It didn't
Feels like a bit of an oversight that you can stand on top of the storage blocks. I'd jump, to throw off the break-detection sensor for that half a second, and break the walls to make my escape.
Good floor idea for the re-usability. I immediately went with infested flooring due to it being able to disappear almost instantly.
the new skulk sensor will make this so much easier for mumbo
I love how these are always so unassuming but should be VERY assuming.
With the arrows through the wall, you could have a redstone block pushed into place behind the first repeater to still activate it remotely though the system you would have made but be powered by one repeater: through the power from the redstone block :)
Man, that would be a true Grian-proof room. He'd have no chance of survival
5:28 I swear this entire video has been me battling, to try to get things to go through things
~Mumbo, 2023
after all these years, i'm finally going to have my own room
If you choose a good location and you break the logs you can then place them above you to have the lava flow around you, as long as you're standing in a good location, at which point you're basically just free to break blocks as well.
me coming from 2b2t to see this: child's play
also yeah,, i think a puffer detector would work better
Why don't you build the trap house and see if you can do it, after all it's easy to talk it's harder to prove. plus it would make a good vid
"I escaped Mumbo's killing room"
This is just the advice Mumbo needs for if he builds variants of these on the hermitcraft server
Maybe the room could be made safer by giving the trapped player mining fatigue. ^^
An yes, TRIVIAL
So the key to breaking out is bring a lot of fire resistant potions and keep breaking the walls.
That's the average security system of those secret rooms in the survival none will ever play
Mumbo: building complicated redstone contraptions
Me: “how does a comparator work?”
1:54
Not so simple now Mumbo Jumbo
Whole contraption is amazing, but there is small issue with flaming arrows at 8:00
If you are close enough to other two walls there is a chance you won't be hit at all
5:10 the button is plan B for Grian
5:00 I think some people know that there is a certain waffle man that would do it
Grian
"You've been charged with several cases of first degree manslaughter how do you plead"
Mumbo: 8:44
Mumbo with the most practical mc vids tho
*HOW TO ESCAPE*
1. Sneak over to the Planks on the side of the room that don't move when the floor drops out
2. Unsneak and start breaking the walls
4. Repeat steps 2-3 to make a 2x1 hole in the wall
5. walk to your freedom
I just outsmarted Mumbo Jumbo himself
Edit: if you just change out the sculk sensors for calibrated sculk sensors, this setup doesn't work and you are just boned
Lavalogging, the peak of alliteration + voice of mumbo jumbo, a great accent = satisfaction
Man, I don't know if you've already done it, but what about a traditional puzzle kill room - something where you have to solve a puzzle in time before the walls close in and crush you - or to make it easier, the roof, which would leave the floor for puzzles.
What the actual hell is "traditional" about that? That's not a "puzzle room", that's a Saw trap!
6:00 silly mumbo jumbo wardens dont set off sculk sensors
6:30
*Laughs in fire resistance*
I had no knowledge of Redstone in Minecraft
But after watching mumbo jumbo for at least 2-3 years, I am a professional in Redstone!! Tnx mumbo jumbo!!
Please send this to other hermits and youtubers and make a way to escape. I would love to see what they do.
Mr. Beast will be acting stupid trying to loot this house
Fr
Wtf does this mean💀
this is really the only way to make something grain proof you have to distract him with a crazy Redstone box and hide your valuables somewhere else in a hole somewhere lol
“Honestly I don’t know if I should be happy or sad that I’m really good at killing people.”

Can you make an escape room using the same idea with a timer that makes things go more intense the more you're closer to the deadline?
I think they call that the Decked Out hazard/clank systems lol.

OMG I CAN HOT FIX YOUR CONTRAPTION FOR YOU FOR ONCE!!!
3:48
The Problem is that it has a delay of one tick going in. That mean the piston fires one tick late with the extra repeater. Make it a non tick signal instead like dust and it should work.
I'm glad you finally accounted for people just breaking their way out
Mumbo: "If someone decides to press a button in a room that literally kills you..."
Grian who has already fallen for decoy vault on hermitcraft: perks up
Well it seems that Mumbo has had his Wheatly arc - deadly traps and all.
In all fairness he hasn't gotten addicted to testing people though. He just tests redstone.
There's like 10 people claiming their first
I'm second 😊
