Authorized dealers have a tendency to not have a clue what they’re talking about when dealing with watches older than the 1980s. The watch you have is absolutely authentic.
Sometimes they tell you it’s not authentic and try to buy it😂

One lady at a AD mocked my 1972 datejust calling it old like a bad thing, when I brought it in to get authenticated
I had my Rolex cleaned 2 years ago. My wife brought it to a very fine boutique (authorized retailer of Rolex) in Lausanne, CH. It is a Submariner 16613 that I had purchased new about 24 years ago. She had the original paperwork, including the purchase receipt, at the time.
The lady in the boutique insisted that they would not send it on the Rolex, Geneva as it is a fake. It was quite an embarrassing moment for my wife, given the store had more than a few customers inside. Nevertheless, my wife insisted it was genuine and demanded the manager inspect the watch. He confirmed it was genuine and the watch went on for the full service, which cost around $1100.
The experience has taught me a lesson. Save your money and screw these pompous bastards. Seriously, if they cannot tell the difference anymore, why bother with this ruse.
And you went ahead and did the service with them... Way to go man.

I can confirm that most people behind the desk including myself, only know a few key details about things, what we call fake most of the time is probably real. Not because we're trying to scam you, why the hell you think we're behind the desk, clearly we're not experts
Rolex itself is a scam. Making those quite useless devices, hyping it up, inflating the price to insanity and selling to people with misplaced values.

This is awesome, the little things make a difference to people. I know my mother used to sell online and when she’d get stuff like class rings and family photos from police auctions, she’d research and try to get things back to the original owners if they wanted them back

I feel like she was honest, she didn’t tell him it was a gift until after he bought it, and telling him in detail about her situation, she wasn’t expecting anything in return and didn’t post it for very much money anyway
@@pinksha9760 I agree. I think she was truthful. I've just seen sometimes if you ask the seller if something is legitimate before or after they usually make up a story kinda like this. For example, I just bought it from a store and my son changed his mind so we are selling it. I do beleive the women in this video is legit. It just sucks there are people that will take advantage of individuals trying to help someone out
Exactly, she probably thought he knew it was fake and gave a sad story as such, now he being the better person also sent her the watch back for her to scam other people

I really hope she doesn't relist it back on eBay. If she does please update with another short!!! I'd love it if you follow the seller to see if she relists it.
I thought that too at first but it's *her* watch. He gave it back to *her* so she can do with it whatever she wants.
It doesn't seem bad to relist it, because she's fighting for her freedom and her child's freedom aswell, if I was a parent I'd do as much as I can for my child aswell as highly prioritising myself during hard times.
It's in her hands now she can do whatever she wants with it lol

Well then the first dealer earned the scam for being ready with the 1954 fake parts of an obscure watch.

@@TheEloquentEye Oh yes it does. She didn't say he was awarded it all in court, she said she was "walking away" which suggests she just wants to be free of the man and not have to fight any more. Happens all the time especially where there's abuse, including potentially financial abuse, like he's already stolen her identity, squandered her life savings, etc, etc. I've seen it first hand. These situations are tragically common, in fact.

Sucks a video like this doesn’t go viral but we see the dumbest of videos that do. You’re an awesome person man. Not a lot of people would do what you did. In fact I think a lot of people that would of heard that the watch “wasn’t authentic” would of just returned it and not give it a second thought. You not only let her keep that watch which seemed like she really didn’t want to part ways with but had to to get some income for her and her daughter but you also let her keep the money + added some more on top. You’ve got a huge heart man. I honestly believe if the world had more people like you it would be a way better place! Beautiful video
The authentication part is absolutely insane. I have been to several physical stores that had real Rolexes, AP, JLC, and even ALS, and not a single one of them had any issues with the customers taking pictures of the watches. Sure, taking pictures of other customers or the staff would be unacceptable, but that applies to the entire country, not just luxury stores, so I think a "turn off your phone before entering" policy is absolutely outrageous. I don't turn off my phone in a hospital or on an aeroplane, and I sure as hell won't turn my phone off when entering a Rolex dealership.

Wow, my dad found a Rolex in a storage that we had bought about 2 yrs ago. He ended up going to 2 jewellers. 1st one said it was authentic and the 2nd said it wasn’t. We all lost hope after that and he ended up selling it on market place for $200. Till this day I still believe it was authentic.
You should have called an Authorised Rolex Dealer, ask when their tech comes in.. then have the tech look at it. That's what I did for a Datejust I bought for a steal.
