Band stretch isn’t caused by the watch being «worn too tight» (8:40), but the opposite, worn so loose that it slides all the way down to where your wrist widens, or even a bit past the wrist joint itself, and where the hand begins and you then BEND THE WRIST with even the slightest force, especially upwards, the way you do when you LEAN ON A TABLE, PALM FLAT DOWN, and other similar situations. What happens is you JACK IT WIDER each time. It’s the momentum that turns the relatively small force you are aware of into the LARGE FORCE needed to bend vulnerable steel elements in a bracelet.
I bought a Tudor Pelagos off eBay. Came with box, papers, and the receipt. I actually went in an AD to examine their Pelagos- noted how the bezel felt, the sound of the clicks, the details of the clasp and dial. It all checked out. Got a great deal at $2800
I'm actually a dealer and was curious to hear more people's responses to the need for box and papers. To me, for my personal collection, box and papers is important from a collectors standpoint. But for those that don't care and just want a watch in great condition, does having a letter of authenticity put you all at ease? Especially buying from complete strangers over the internet?
That's sort of the point of Rolex restoration though? Collector's want original parts and pieces. If you buy an offical serviced rolex by rolex and don't like what you've gotten. You might hold onto it as a beater and buy another used or a new one. Rolex offical restorations may be captializing on devaluation like switching out bezels and crystals, or polishing off too much material. Because they know people either want a pristine well taken of watch or an original beaten up piece. Anything inbetween is damaged and modded. That's kind of the mentality for watch collector's in a nutshell?
I bought a date just from ebay once big mistake watch was terrible movement was shocking which was the biggest pain as he said it just serviced I sent it back and the guy received the watch but didnt bother to refund biggest ball ake ever had to wait month to get my refund via Ebay, from now on its local watch shops or chrono 24 all day
The quality of Rolex packaging is an indicator of their overall product. Grossly over rated and over valued. Not junk. Not terrible. They're nice, but they are also 100% a product of marketing.
Lol you act like other brands in the price range in that era had much better. The red on my omega box and card wallet for the first gen 300m has literally melted off and dyed everything in sight 🤮
Buying in Ebay is NOT RISKY AT ALL !! You just have to do your homework looking for the right watch and seller, and Paying with Paypal...this way You’re cover !!
What I find funny is that you call buying on ebay scary, and pass a list of checks that reduce the likelihood of a fake, however the only real way to buy safely is to buy on ebay (or at least via paypal) and send the watch for service. Until you do that, you don't know if what is inside is the 100% the real thing. And ebay feedback is almost worthless, as many buyers do not understand anything.
Yeah I wasn’t sure about the box myself. It’s not uncommon for incorrect boxes to be issued by the AD. My explorer II from 2000 came in a slightly larger box.
I seem to remember you saying on more than one occasion that you bought the Explorer because it flew under the radar compared to the Sub and you were less likely to get mugged? So does this purchase indicate a change of opinion regarding street crime, a feeling that Scotland is safer or have you taken up Krav Magar?? I’ve bought a number of watches on eBay and so far, no disasters but agree with everything you say, particularly buy the buyer. Enjoy the new arrival! 😁
Even a 'jewelry' ultrasonic can clean that bracelet - fill it higher with hot water / Simple Green - the liquid level has to be higher than the item you're cleaning. That'll save the wife's toothbrush - after all, it's you that's gonna kiss her.
Cristian W To be fair, I’ve an Invicta Grand Diver for several years, that’s been great and never fail to perform. The ceramic bezel and display back have made a stunning edition to my desk, whether placed face up or down. To date, not a single paper has escaped it’s substantial weight, when watch is placed properly, in the center of the stack. As workload and clutter increases, I’ll consider picking up a second one. 🤣
Stainless steel are far more sought after than precious metal. The steel models up in value because the demand is so high. The gold and platinum watch depreciate massively because the demand is low.
He already has a Green Sub and an Explorer and has now paid a considerable sum to buy another Sub. There are so many other options out there for that kind of money. Anyway it’s his cash and if it makes him happy good on Adrian. I am sure the Grand Seiko Quartz will be gone in the near future to make room for yet another Rolex 😂
Ebay is PRO BUYER and will always take care of an honest buyer. I am a full time ebay seller. And I have been scammed by buyers. However I am not afraid to buy on ebay as a buyer you have all the cards. I have eaten the bullet many times when I know the buyer was lying . And paid them to end it. My feedback is my Livelihood. So it is to any Real Pro Ebayer. So Just do your research. On the seller. Look at other items they may or may not be selling. Some sellers are just a dude selling his watch. And some are Pro resellers.
I've been buying watches off eBay for a while now. Last watch I bought was a Rolex Date Just from Nigeria.Great condition looks like new, just disappointed in Rolex quality it's no better than an Alpha watch and I hate the limited edition mechanism in the watch where you have to wind it every 4 hours. The person I bought it from said that's the Rolex way! I would be very interested to hear what you watch guy makes of the insides and whether it is the real deal. None of the Rolexes I owned for 20 years plus with no servicing were anywhere near +10 never mind +17. Sounds more like a Tissot.
Commando Master your u can say that for almost anything... I paid £3400 for my Kermit. Now worth >10k... Probably 20k if unworn so no scam for me. No intrinsic value as the saying goes... My regret is not buying more of them.
Actually times has changed and it is scarier to sell on ebay than buy things. Research and you will find out that you are very much protected by ebay and paypal when something goes wrong, too much protected that ebay and paypal always side with the buyer and sellers are the one getting scammed nowadays. Not just that, the seller will bear the 10% final value fees, insertion fees and 3-4.5% paypal fees. Then after all that the buyer decides to scam you off.. tough luck.
The fact that he loves his watches so much makes me feel good. I baby my explorer 214270 mark 2 as much as he do. And i LOVE to see more new scratches every week or 2. It makes the watch look more worn. I think everyone love his watch in its own way :)
You bought a Rolex watch through eBay? That's really really weird. If I had that kind of money, I would march into a Rolex outlet like Darth Vader and get it.
No lie. I'm looking to buy my first Rolex and only boxed with papers for me. I mean when spending silly money for a watch, I'm not going to save a few quid.. Thx for the video though, helps!
When you send your Rolex in to get a service (say it's just the movement you want servicing/regulating) can you request that they don't polish the watch?
The Explorer 2 seems to be the only Rolex I really like. I just haven't bought it I'm really put off by the servicing. It seems like really you only rent a Rolex. They appear to do whatever they like. I can't buy into a brand that isn't customer focused and will do the things you want. That's a service.

@R A First off, you know nothing about the market peaking and no, it has not peaked. I guarantee you in 10 years the value will have risen guaranteed at least 50% unless we hit a big global recession, but then the value of a watch will be the least of your worries. Second, I didn't but it as an investment. But it will become one.

Came to your channel for your background setup. Now I’m watching this 😅 sound quality is impeccable
Thanks so much Vanessa 🙌🏻
That's kind of the mentality for watch collector's in a nutshell?
very strange how Rolex destroys watches during servicing, it is absolutely unacceptable to polish it and change crystals.
Lol your surname
Damn your videos are always spot on. I'm a yank and i love your accent. Keep up the good work mate!
The thought of the ebay seller being someone like Paul Pluta gives me the chills...
Geezer-imagine “servicing” him....
Hahahah
Oh yuck! Please don’t mention that horrible man.
He should take his horns in for polishing.
Especially if it's on a leather strap
I bought a date just from ebay once big mistake watch was terrible movement was shocking which was the biggest pain as he said it just serviced I sent it back and the guy received the watch but didnt bother to refund biggest ball ake ever had to wait month to get my refund via Ebay, from now on its local watch shops or chrono 24 all day
Actually it’s very safe to buy a watch on eBay when using PayPal.
You mean the company that can freeze your account for no reason and take all the money on it and u cant get it back......
But its CONTOURS ARE DESTROYED, along the lugs particularly, it has been COMPLETELY ABUSED, couldn’t even take a repolish.
@@Dylan-xj8tb I never said that. Rolex uses cheap packaging in its current offerings. Check it out if you don't believe me.
agreed - to me the packaging is far more important than the quality of the watch and its future resale value
@@michaelbishop9157 I'm glad you see it. The quality isn't exceptional, and the pricing/future resale value is all marketing.
Buying in Ebay is NOT RISKY AT ALL !! You just have to do your homework looking for the right watch and seller, and Paying with Paypal...this way You’re cover !!
Great watch - no doubt.
The 14060 is one of my all-time favorites.
I’d love to see it on the timegrapher after servicing.
Great vid as always. The wife’s toothbrush 😂😂😂😂
I buy mine at the local
Market. Great quality.
Also the box is not original; not an issue, but I distinctly remember what mine looked like, before I gave to the kids to play with ☹️
Yeah I wasn’t sure about the box myself. It’s not uncommon for incorrect boxes to be issued by the AD. My explorer II from 2000 came in a slightly larger box.
Box looks much older than 2002. Same design as my 1978.
That's correct. Scotland is going to feel relatively crime-free compared to the area in London that I live in, well for the next 5 days.
Bark and Jack Just don’t go into a Glasgow greasy spoon and ask for a “Full English” - both you and the Rolex will be toast.
"Krav Magar" lol
Can't get any more British than that
I have my 5513 service every 5 yrs at 500.00 a pop I could have purchase another Rolex. My Rolex got his own toothbrush
Mine too, a soft, children’s brush, kept in my watch kit!
Adrian: I think I completed my watch collection
*buys a new Rolex after a week*
must be nice to be rich
Classic if you actually watch the channel regularly you would know that’s not true
Pinkish it’s not true but it’s still funny 😂
Lol...right?
Me in a nutshell, but with cheaper watches
Even a 'jewelry' ultrasonic can clean that bracelet - fill it higher with hot water / Simple Green - the liquid level has to be higher than the item you're cleaning.
That'll save the wife's toothbrush - after all, it's you that's gonna kiss her.
I wish I had seen this, before buying a pre-owned Invicta off eBay. Now I wonder if it’s real... 🤔
lol invictas are cheap mate dont worry about it, im sure its the real deal
Cristian W LOL! Yes, just a bit of humor. I started to say Casio, but they are better.
@@randyporter3491 ahh got ya! hahah
I’m honestly too scared to buy secondhand Rolexes. The market for fakes is way too large and the fakes are getting too hard to filter out.
My favorite submariner ! Congratulations 👍
Stainless steel is a good option for buying a rolex? I figured that white gold' yellow gold, or platinum were the most sought out.
Stainless steel are far more sought after than precious metal. The steel models up in value because the demand is so high. The gold and platinum watch depreciate massively because the demand is low.
Great find! Hope your wife didn’t mind you using her toothbrush lol!
Haha.
You really don't know risk if you don't know Wish lmao
Rolex truly have you hook line and sinker...
What you mean by that
He already has a Green Sub and an Explorer and has now paid a considerable sum to buy another Sub. There are so many other options out there for that kind of money. Anyway it’s his cash and if it makes him happy good on Adrian. I am sure the Grand Seiko Quartz will be gone in the near future to make room for yet another Rolex 😂
Mark Williams many other options yes. But will they hold their value like this sub? Probably not
Why would you buy a Rolex Submariner? For that kind of money you can buy way better and more original watches.
Rolex fanboys🙄🙄🙄🙄
@@Jabber-ig3iw I know right
Ebay is PRO BUYER and will always take care of an honest buyer.
Hahaha. Yeah that sounds about right. 🤣
Nice 👊
Does small second hand make a clock look bigger?
I would be very interested to hear what you watch guy makes of the insides and whether it is the real deal. None of the Rolexes I owned for 20 years plus with no servicing were anywhere near +10 never mind +17. Sounds more like a Tissot.
Barely worn ... LOL!
Andy Garton look at the amount of dead skin in the strap!
Yeah I love that, and the "great condition". "I saw you coming" is what springs to mind.
Looks like it's been kicked about on concrete 🤣
Do you mind sharing name of that seller? Seems like an honest one
The real scam is paying thousands of pounds for a Rolex.
Commando Master your u can say that for almost anything... I paid £3400 for my Kermit. Now worth >10k... Probably 20k if unworn so no scam for me. No intrinsic value as the saying goes... My regret is not buying more of them.
Hollow end links, what a joke
Actually times has changed and it is scarier to sell on ebay than buy things. Research and you will find out that you are very much protected by ebay and paypal when something goes wrong, too much protected that ebay and paypal always side with the buyer and sellers are the one getting scammed nowadays.
Not just that, the seller will bear the 10% final value fees, insertion fees and 3-4.5% paypal fees. Then after all that the buyer decides to scam you off.. tough luck.
This is the Bark & Jack content we like to see! Happy to see that you’re happy with your purchase.
Thanks mate.
5:27 but the two-liner was not chronometer certified?
Tim Mosso's Sunglasses it isn’t. There’s a lot wrong with the deal he got.
The fact that he loves his watches so much makes me feel good. I baby my explorer 214270 mark 2 as much as he do. And i LOVE to see more new scratches every week or 2. It makes the watch look more worn. I think everyone love his watch in its own way :)
ray h. I dont know what u mean brother
Rather not look forward to scratching my watch but I would like to see them unexpectedly once in a while
You bought a Rolex watch through eBay? That's really really weird. If I had that kind of money, I would march into a Rolex outlet like Darth Vader and get it.
I never knew about that etched crown at the six o'clock position - and the service s - nice to know! Thanks, Adrian! Beautiful watch!
Thanks for watching John.
You can request they only do certain parts, but there are countless examples of when they have ignored the requests.
@@BarkandJack what about removing the movement and sending only it in?
The Explorer 2 seems to be the only Rolex I really like. I just haven't bought it
I'm really put off by the servicing. It seems like really you only rent a Rolex. They appear to do whatever they like.
I can't buy into a brand that isn't customer focused and will do the things you want. That's a service.
Been watching forever, got to say that you’re getting better and better man. Keep em coming
Thanks so much Juan. 🙏🏻
Congratulations on your purchase, thank you for not calling it the "No-Date Sub" or a "No-Date Submariner".
The answer to the question "Why you bought a Submariner, when you already have one?" is "Because I can."
"...wife's toothbrush" I hope she doesn't watch this video.
Cheers!
OMG, $7500 for a 17yo watch,. you must have money to burn, congrats.
It's actually the other way round, this watch will increase in value. When I was first looking at them back in 2014 they were selling for £3000-3500.
@Bark and Jack like all the subs. Bought a 2019 "no date" sub 8K a couple of months ago, already gone up.
@R A you kinda can with inflation + Rolex average increase. You don't know shit, period.
@@BarkandJack That is when you should have bought it! Don't forget it took 40yrs for this bubble to
form.
You know you fucked up right.... You know that right........
When I win the lottery I'm getting a gold sea dweller with that bright blue dial!
No friggin way! A huge leap of...faith?! I wanted to say something else but...anyway, good for you. Enjoy! The magnificent engineering and spectacular quality of these watches is amazing! I don’t wear or collect watches but I sure admire these pinnacles of the craft.
I love the no date. Looks great !
