Cory couldn’t have been more wrong about the Longines watch. It is no marketing ploy. It is a real US Navy issued deck watch/torpedo boat watch, and is likely to have spent time at sea on a military craft. It could have served as the main timekeeper for a smaller vessel or a comparing watch to carry the time around the ship from the main chronometers aboard a larger ship.

You can pick these up for 500 quite often, boxed with everything and working and in great condition

If that Rolex had been repaired by Rolex it would have a genuine Rolex replacement dial face. It may not be the "original" face but it's for sure a Rolex. When replacing parts Rolex doesn't give back the customers the old parts. It's their policy. The dude was smart to walk.
That’s how it is with vintage Rolexes they have to be 100 percent vintage to get that price yes a face swap and hands even if from rolex brings down the value significantly

That rolex, it's as original as it can be. If you send in a rolex to be serviced and they see anything wrong with the dial or hands, they will change it and send back the peaches with the watch.
The problem is do they still have the original dial and Hands if they don't they have to be custom made to the precise way materials wise it was made from

Rolex often replaced dials, hands, bezels and crystals in the course of servicing them. Maybe not original but perhaps OEM. The guy with the Seiko agreed to a terrible deal. Really terrible. This video made me sad.
