  • Gigabyte Brix Pro Intel Core i7 quadcore Mini PC - Unboxing & Overview - www.mobilegeeks... - The Gigabyte Brix Pro is an ultra compact PC kit in a super small form factor that packs an Intel Core i7-4770R with Intel IRIS Pro 5200 graphics and speeds of up to 3.9 gigahertz. It has a quadcore desktop processor in a package that is amazingly tiny. We get the super small powerhouse out of its box, get it set up and started and try some video rendering on it, trying to explain why the future of the desktop PC actually looks brighter than we thought. For photo and video editing and most other jobs this thing definitely knows how to impress with it's great performance.

    One of best product i've seen. They have already a Gaming Series out with GTX 760 and another with Radeon R9 M275X. Just they need to upgrade some temperature issues.

    Get the fanless version of the brix. The celeron version.
    No noise! Good enough, unless you do gaming.

    Temperatures and fan noise on a long term is what worries most of us when looking at this great idea. What's your opinion on it vs a laptop?

  • @ravand1990
    @ravand1990 9 лет назад +5

    Sry but if you are someone who travels alot and for the price this doesn't make more sense than buying a decent laptop for the same price and a laptop has a screen with it all the time and is ready to be used all the time unlike this device that has to be hooked up to somewhere first. If you are planning on using this at home as a desktop pc or just a media center than it makes even less sense to buy this because you can get a better office pc and a better media center with a much better cost-benefit ratio.

      Yes very true, but mini pcs use very little power and can boot up very fast

    • @ravand1990
      @ravand1990 9 лет назад

      Juan Espinoza Laptops and media pcs don't use up so much either and the boot up speed is not worth it really, its actually quite irrelevant for home

    • @juanespinoza5753
      @juanespinoza5753 9 лет назад

      also depends on what your needs are. It's nice that today we have so many options available other than a regular pc or laptop. I myself would buy this for a htpc setup that would be small enough to hide behind my tv or fit under my tv stand!

    • @ravand1990
      @ravand1990 9 лет назад +1

      Juan Espinoza Yes and i also said IF you are going to use this at home then there are many better, smaller and cheaper alternatives. I just don't see the necessity of buying this over all of the other options that are out there. Obviously the main selling strategy of this product is, that it is portable and very small, while it will need a power supply and a screen and keyboard/mouse to hook up with in order to work, while a laptopt doesn't need that and has mouse,keyboard, screen and battery already coming with it.

    • @juanespinoza5753
      @juanespinoza5753 9 лет назад +3

      true, I don't see why someone would use it a portable device. it's supposed to be a mini pc

    Where is the sound / audio port? Is it only the way of head phone and added on the front part of the PC!! So then, it looks too odd to plug in the head phone in-front of the PC. There should be at list a optical audio port. Audio speaker way should not be the way by the head phone.

    Cool to see; the desktop/tower is antiquated by now. Only a professional really even needs one. It boggles my mind that manufacturers still produce these giant boxes, and that consumers (who usually don't upgrade their systems) still buy 'em. They've had the desktop computer since the 1970s... It is dying, no-doubt.

      elpilonvideo It has died in the mainstream market. Gaming is a niche.

    • @asdfasdf4345artsdfg

      elpilonvideo So I'm a fanboy because I'm not blind to the antiquity of desktop computers? Dude: Even I own a tower and use it every day, but I don't have to. I personally like towers - even though I can comprehend why a tower computer isn't the way of the future. Listen, hobby machines are part of a smaller niche. When I say that the desktop is dead, I'm referring to its place among average users. Most people don't need a tower computer anymore, nor do people even need all-in-ones. 20 years ago, a desktop was for everyone... but ever since 2007 and onward, general users have been able to get by just fine on mobile devices. I've even seen people prefer using their phones more than anything else.
      Think about it: We have had desktop computers since the mid 1970s; doesn't it occur to you that perhaps desktop computing is an old thing that is beginning to go away? If you still deny this, go and look up sales figures for desktop computers.

      go to corsair.com it needs SO-DIMM DDR3 and its required range for this between 8GB up to 16GB if you max out.
      for PC gaming, check Steampowered.com for personal gaming needs.

      Battlefield 4 should be doing ok at lowered resolution and details, older games should also be ok. Still, def. not a gaming platform, but there is an AMD-based version coming that has discrete graphics which might be able to play up to date games.

      Mobilegeeks.de I think a Skylake H-2 GT4e version of the Brix Pro sometime in early 2016 will change this by being twice as capable graphically.

    • @KnowledgeDude
      @KnowledgeDude 9 лет назад

      Yeah i7-4770R quad core 8 thread 3.9ghz(single core max) Intel HD5200 also which is the eDRAM version, it was the top haswell iGPU.

    • @Maderpakk

    • @KnowledgeDude
      @KnowledgeDude 9 лет назад

      Yeah, it'd be a hot box at 65w quad with that igpu. I think the 45w 14nm skylake will fair better in these kind of systems.
      The reply was late indeed but i just came across it last night.

    • @KnowledgeDude

      I think the Skylake SoC will meet my needs as a system with a similar(near identical) ability meets them currently. Next year I'll move from my 45w Ivybridge cpu +55w gpu to the Skylake H-2 45w, it will run the same at half the power. Pretty sure Brix will use it, if not it'll be in a laptop.

      Juan Espinoza I feel like you're unaware of the product for which you speak. This is a quad core 8 thread 3.9ghz cpu with HD 5200 which is the eDRAM version(the top graphical model). It can do mild Gaming, GTA4 and Res Evil aren't that heavy for it to manage medium settings if ran off a nice SDD.
