The funny thing is these mini PCS are way stronger than the entire PC that I had growing up. That thing took up half the desk at our place
and three times the price.
@@JM-de2gh if you mean the old ones that took up the entire desk, then yeah. I mean in 1995 Google says the cheapest home computer (on avrage) was $750. Then take into account 25yrs of inflation...
A decent mini desktop computer these days can be as cheap as $100 for basic functionality & more likely around $200-300.
$750 in 1995 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $1,466.59 today, an increase of $716.59 over 27 years. So I would say much more than 3 times.

I can tell how proud Linus is of coming up with "NUC-alike".
Doesn't really work since it's not pronounced "nook," it's "nuck".
@@AshrielDrummer except it is? by Intel themselves?
For Fallout players, it sounded probably more like Nuka-like
@@AshrielDrummer The words "look" and "nuck" rhyme - "look" and "luck" are homonyms in all but a few dialects of English, with "look" using a short "oo" sound rather than a long oo sound like in "boot".
Some local dialects (e.g. Newcastle) do use a long oo sound on words that would normally use a short oo sound, but that's more of an outlier than the rule.
This particular pronunciation variance tends to catch out non-native speakers a lot, because there's no real rule to it and you can't infer which sound it is just by reading.

linussextips strikes again
This literally raised my eyebrows when Linus said it.
I have a NUC. It is pretty neat having a tiny PC for casual/office use (no gaming or rendering, just programming, web browsing, and anime). It's probably 2/3 the size of a 3.5" external drive (it does have a power brick like a laptop, though smaller than my laptop's). It powers everything but 4k video (scaling 1080p to 4k is fine, the newer Intel integrated graphics may do 4k though).
It's basically a laptop without the screen or keyboard -- mobile CPU (i3-7100U), laptop RAM (16GB), an NVMe SSD and a 2.5in SSD.
I do love though that it makes you rethink what you think of as a PC, that it has to be at least a midtower ATX, dominate a space, and contain everything you want. Modularization was my philosophy for this build. If I ever wanted an optical drive, I could use a USB one. Storage is offloaded to an NAS and external backup drives. I could theoretically use an external GPU but those are ridiculously expensive.
However, my next build will be a bit larger. Probably mini-ITX so I can move back to desktop chips without going back to a giant ATX or something like Hades/Ghost Canyon. But most people absolutely don't need a giant PC. It's not the 90s anymore. People can buy an AIO or a NUC (which has a VESA mount, making it effectively an AIO without tying you to a specific monitor -- I have a 32" 4k monitor, larger than the AIOs I've seen).
This man tears things apart more quickly, than people drop their clothes in a nudistcamp.

Also, you can in the future upgrade them, as Minisforum has said that they will offer also newer AMD generations (of course as Laptop version).
