- Are you a Google Street View 360° photographer looking for a solution to create consecutive street view PATH of photos on Google Maps? Are you a 360VR filmmaker looking for a solution to create dynamic camera movements but cannot afford a $20,000 rover?
Today, I will review a monopole backpack designed for 360 VR cameras that will do just that! I will teach you how I use it with my Insta360 Titan (or Insta360 Pro 2) to film 11K super high resolution 360 photos and publish them onto Google Street View to replace what was there. There is no tutorial available anywhere else right now to teach you how to use Insta360 Pro 2 and Titan to create REAL Street View Path - the blue line. We will cover that in detail in this tutorial.
We will also capture the Google Street View path in a large area on a Onewheel (electric skateboard, hoverboard). You will see Hugh do some stunts! This is a fun tutorial you don’t want to miss!

VR360拍摄很精彩!讲述也很好!喜欢!漂亮!
Hi Hugh! Great content as always- appreciated so much! One question: how do you think would the footage look like if you record higher than 5fps to record a virtual walk in nature that can be watched with a proper 8k VR headset? Any experiences?
Dang, did you have to learn how to ride a OneWheel before this shoot or did you already know/own one already? Props to you for putting yourself and that expensive gear, balancing on the OneWheel. Glad you didn't' wipe out, or get seriously hurt, with that gear on. Yeah, a helmet and wrist guards is the minimum gear I war when out on my OneWheel. Keep up the good, creative work man.
Thankyou for tutorial
Glad you like it!
Hi Hugh, can you please tell me what is the car mount you use and vibration isolator or dumper you use (please if you can share a link), as well as GPS booster for Insta 360 pro 2. Thanks.
Hi Hugh, in Insta360 stitcher, when we want to stitch video, there is option to choose JPG as an output format, have you tried it? What does the output looks like? Is it single JPG image or like multiple JPG export frame from the video?
Thanks Hugh - Always good to see what new gadgets you have discovered. Can you tell us what vibration damper you are using and any other alternatives you'd suggest to the mono-wheel (I'm terrible at anything like skateboarding...
Thank you! The vibration isolator I don't have a link as it is part of my gimbal suit for my ARRI camera lol. But you can find a cheap one on ebay work just as well - google Vibration isolator and they are ton will show up. I hope this help! For wheeling - you can use CAR prob the safest option, then RC CAR, Bike, motocycl. Bascially anything with wheels. Onewheel is very popular in filmmaker community as Peter use it too on this 2D stuffs. So it is just easy to use lol.
Interesting sharing👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed
Hey Hugh, thanks for the tutorial, as a subscriber to the channel and class! Which gimbal vibration isolator and quick release did you use?
The quick release is from Freedom360. The damper I will just look onto Amazon or B&H. Might is part from my car mount. I take part from my professional gears lol. But any damper work!
An alternative to a rover or backpack is a Bob yak bike trailer with springs for dampening and attached pole through fibreglass strands. Thanks
That is a good one thank for sharing the idea!
Hi Hugh! Great review as always! Although severely above my current budget :P
Need a tip, shooting a monologue at close range in an indoor setting whis summer. Purpose will be an audience showing where people use VR-headsets to watch it in a similar setting as it was recorded in. To shoot I currently have a One X, however, for headsets I don't think the resolution/image quality meets the standards I want. I am currently considering getting the QooCam 8K instead, but I have heard rumors of an upcoming prosumer so have waited for that thus far considering the lens causing issues with distance footage with the Qoocam. Another alternative might be to use the One X with Topaz video AI but I'm not sure if it will bring it up to QooCams levels. Watched your review of it and it sure was impressive with the Go 2, but would it be good enough for the zoomed in VR headsets I wonder? On a tight budget so trying to save where I can.
So I actually recently make a video (tutorial is not out yet) upscale ONE X2 to 8K and mix with Qoocam 8K - take a look and see if you can spot which one is One X2, which is OneR and which is Qoocam 8K - if you can't tell meaning Topaz upscale will works lol. Use Oculus Quest 2 cached feature to cache download the 8K version in 60fps to watch it in full quality: www.oculus.com/experiences/media/2062812510708809/290117252599545/
@@hughhou Thanks a lot! Unfortunately I only have the Reverb G2 so it appears I can only watch it in 4K. However, looking at it zoomed in in the viewer, it certainly was difficult to find any noticable differences :) Really cool!
@5:05 she just kept skating lol.
Where can i order your backpack and the gear? Thank you!
Hello from France !! Hey, you didn't mention that we can use Pilot One EE (or Era) and publish everything directly from camera to Google Street View (blue line) without any other action (no preproduction on PC or mobile phone needed) and the image quality is very good but lower by compared to Titan. You can also attach/change a nadir directly in Pilot One, ... And the most interesting thing is that Pilot One is affordable and high quality.
Really? I need to try that next :)
I need it for the Titan, are they going to make a sturdiest bag for the Titan in the future? Where did you get the stablishing ball above the pole and before the camera?
They are! But prob take them for a while. This one work fine for me already with Titan. I added weight to weight the backpack down just FYI. Also Titan don't go high - just right above the head. The vibration isolator I don't have a link as it is part of my gimbal suit for my ARRI camera lol. But you can find a cheap one on ebay work just as well - google Vibration isolator and they are ton will show up. I hope this help!
Thx for new series!
Can You help me, what should I do to replace a existing blueline from 2012 which was made by google car? I like to make a new one with the uptudate views as there are meny new bussines buildings. Please share any tip to do this :)
So higher resolution - 11K and also faster fps (instead of 5fps just shoot video in 30fps). This way Google will fill the gap. Higher resolution usually show up first as well. But it require your pano also in good quality.
@@hughhou Thx for the reply! I have only Ricoh Theta Z1, so need to make a series of pictures and connect them to line, to make higher quality materials. Will make try on my street and get back with results! :)
Hi Hugh, great video. What laptop and phone would you recommend? Thanks
Laptop - and the new Razor RTX 3080ti is what I will recommend- not out yet tho
@@hughhou Thank you for your reply. 😀
I've bought Insta360 X2 recently, i wanna use it to contribute to Google Street View program, but i cannot find the menu to share to GSV on Android App, is it just not supported yet to publish to GSV on X2?
lollito plimavela
Hey Hugh. Can you recommend any 360 vitual tour software that will let me add a webframe and e-learning that can be viewed in VR. I currently use 3d vista but its quite limiting in some areas. Thank.
Awww I will suggest 3D Vista but look like you have it already. What you mean limiting? 3D Vista is powerful. The next level will be KRPano - but lots of custom coding
@@hughhou Thanks Hugh. 3d vista is limiting because you cannot add a webframe that can be viewed via a vr heasdset. For example I can embed a sketchfab model and view that model on a desktop version of 3dvista but not in VR and also the E-Learning feature is compatabile with VR however the question cards are not which makes the VR part useless because you cannot ask any questions.
You are from the future! Thank you for visiting us!
Lol thank you!
what vibration damper do you use? looks good. link? thx :)
The vibration isolator I don't have a link as it is part of my gimbal suit for my ARRI camera lol. But you can find a cheap one on ebay work just as well - google Vibration isolator and they are ton will show up. I hope this help!
Hi Hugh, thank you for video. I have a Pro 2 and I would like to upload my recording to StreetView. One thing I noticed is that there is no gps signal very often in the video, even if I'm outdoor and the weather is fine, so when I upload to StreetView only a short route is visible. Do you notice the same problem? Thanks!!
So for Pro 2 - you need a GPS booster - it goes on your Pro 2 anntan but boost your GPS signal so you don’t lose it.
@@hughhou thank you for the suggestion!!
Whats did they quote your for parts and labor cost for replacing one broken lens? Is the lens modular from the camera, etc for skilled DIYers? How much for parts alone?
Oh I am lucky enough did not break anything yet lol. That fall since the camera is so high above me - so when I land the camera / pole did not touch the group - It is lucky but also higher pole actually help to protect the camera (not the rider tho lol)
Hi Brett, I was unfortunate enough to have my Insta 360 Pro 2 get blown over, cracked a lens, dented the battery case, broke an aerial and it would not restart. It's not possible to fix these yourself. I had to send it back to Hong Kong. They sent me a replacement. Quick turnaround. Luckily mostly covered by insurance.
@@adamsunday2010 I suspected that would be the case. Insurance is going to be the way to go until the Right to Repair comes to high end 360 cameras.
Yup I know I am kinda joking in the video about camera insurance but it is very true as Adam mentioned. You should always has camera insurance when you are on any jobs.
Is this a “how to become a Google street view guy” guide 😂
Yes! With a Onewheel!
where do we buy the monopod backpack Hugh? Any awesome links you have?
i found it here: gimbalguru.com/products/monopole-backpack-creatorup
David got it covered!
@@hughhou I ordered one and a gimble for my cell phone (which will also be used for theta z1!). Its on preorder, so I'll be eagerly waiting.
Thanks for all the inspiration Hugh and CreatorUP!
hi! where can i buy the accessorie to absorb the vibration ?
The vibration isolator I don't have a link as it is part of my gimbal suit for my ARRI camera lol. But you can find a cheap one on ebay work just as well - google Vibration isolator and they are ton will show up. I hope this help!
Please, show here a link to Google Street View from your Insta360 Titan camera.
Sure. Will do soon.
How much money can be made with the Google Street View?
It depends!
Can one earn money shooting videos for google maps streetmap views?
Yes. You don't make money from Google directly. But Google list your map so ton of SMB will see your contact info at nadir - so they just call you to do the same thing. It is the fastest way to be discovered. Then you just do indoor virtual tour for SMB.
@@hughhou What is the meaning of SMB?
In Europe the price of the Titan is 17K in euro 😬
Wow, 2K more? That is crazy!
@@hughhou yep, €17.339 actually! Crazy amount of money :-)
Is google street view guy a thing? Like is it a job?
Yes it is. You get paid to do indoor virtual tour via Google Street View discovery - but getting really hard as it is very competitive nowadays - you need to have really good street view and high end virtual tour. One X or Theta V is def not the right tool to get the job.
@@hughhou thank you for the reply, wow I did not know that
Anytime!
Glad you didn't get jacked!
Wait get jacked?
@@hughhou It means were robbed when you ate shit. Mugged/get jacked/slang.
Who pays you for doing street view? Does google pay people who upload street view?
No one. I do it for fun. I am a 360 photographer.
@@hughhou i am looking to see more real world use cases. If you do this can someone view the street view 360 from a headset?

@HughHou Hello friend, thank you for your help always. I have a problem with my Pro2. When I enter the logo I have to put it too big and still I keep coming out in the image. He used a backpack like yours to make the journey. I have the camera raised enough but there's still a lot I have to cover with the logo. How do you do it to be able to go on a skateboard or on a bicycle and put a logo of logical dimensions? I don't even walk well. Thank you!!!
So I do some distance test and design the logo into the correct size to cover everything. If you are on wheel, you do not wobble so it is easier to cover with the logo. So you see my picture, the camera is higher than my head - if you can, get it way higher - especially Pro 2 is light, you can fully extend your pole.
@@hughhou Thank you very much from the heart friend. You are a reference for me and I only hope to meet you one day. Thank you
