    Fabulous review Hugh and what an exciting camera. I am so encouraged for the future of stereoscopic VR. The samples loom incredible in 3D VR in Oculus Go. Its only a matter of time before this technology is in a prosumer unit and the platforms have caught up. I can't wait to see this type of footage in a HP Reverb. Thanks for sacrificing your sleep to put the review together.

    Is this camera still worth it 3 years later? Found a used deal for 6300 euro. Still the best you can buy it seems, but 9 SD cards, fan noise after 7 minutes, no action closer than 2 meters and "only" 8K 50fps. Combine that with a much more pro workflow, which I assume still requires software such as Mistika makes it a tough buy.

    Another parameter is involved in the image quality of the Titan : the chrominance sampling, it is 4:2:2 according the specifications. Compared to the 4:2:0 of the Pro2 it makes the difference in color/sharpness point of view .

      @@hughhou I thought you went a bit overboard with this one (PERFECTLY stitch Insta360 Pro 2 with Mistika VR in 360°) but admittedly, I'm most certainly older than most of your target audience and I can understand you want to have fun with these. It's OK for one viewing but for people like me who need to watch the same piece multiple times, it gets in the way of understanding the content. It's very clever (I do love your passed-out guy at Adobe Max!), but save it for special places, which you seem to be doing, which why I wanted to give you some positive feedback. All of that said Hugh, you're the best in the business and your reviews and tutorials continue to be a valuable resource for me as an instructor in higher education. You are tireless!

To speak the language of new generation of college kids, I do use lots of gimmicks jokes which is trending and current in the Internet - which is called pattern interrupt in instructional design. This is very effective to keep the younger audiences attention - but obviously is not good if someone watch this over and over again for the same jokes lol. For more tutorial-based content, I will watch out for my jokes. I am glad you find these continue to be helpful. And thank you again for the valuable feedback!

    • @hughhou
      @hughhou  4 года назад

      No there is no timecode integration BUT, you can trigger your recorder with the Titan so it sync perfectly. I have not use this feature on set yet as I clap sync. But you can plug your H3VR or external recorder into top or bottom of the camera. When it record, it trigger the audio device to record as well - and the files storage inside H3VR. You can turn fan off for 7 min - and 7 min is really long in VR for recording so you are good.

    Thanks Hugh! for this video, the truth is that I have many doubts about the suitability in the investment for the purchase of the Titan for my part, many of the inconveniences that you indicate and I raised them, and I really liked that you confirm it.
    The only thing that surprised me is what you say about Adobe Premier, last week I edited a sewn file that Insta360 sent me, and I did not have any problem in editing it, that if I had to render it with AfterCodecs, because Premier could not stand it. But no problem with the edition, except the weight of the file, but my computer can handle it well. Even better than I expected.
    Afterwards I could not visualize it with any visualization software and I uploaded it to RUclips, which converted it to 8K, remember that we talked about it.
    Do you know if there are any similar cameras planned for another brand? Because the truth is that I do not know whether to apply and send me my reservation or wait for a new camera or version. Greetings. and thanks.

    • @hughhou
      @hughhou  5 лет назад +1

      For the files - did they send you 10K3D and 11K2D? Your premiere sequence vertical top at 8192 - there is way to work around it with the Premiere Insta360 importer plugin - ignore the sequence warning and do direct export - prob that is what you did. But Premiere still has some display problem. It will be fixed to support 11K titan footage soon tho in Premiere - just this build is still not support anything above 8K...

      In Informatica there are brands that without saying they use the Spanish market to launch their first versions and try it out, since technologically we are an advanced market, but without a great specific weight, and if they make mistakes here, it is not the same as if they do it in the USA. Many years ago, what IBM did, I do not know if Adobe does the same.

You also told about the 8K Qoocam, but i heard alot of problems with it... i do how ever hear your videos, and need to find a great camera, that can make video and pictures in rooms 2,5 meters wide. we tryed some pictures from a GoPro Fusion and wounder how it would stitch with a massive camera like the pro2 or titan.
    thanks for your great videos

      Do you need 3D aka 360VR - Qoocam 8K is NOT a VR camera - it can not capture 3D. So Pro 2 is more fit your purpose if you need 3D - if not, just 8K 360, Qoocam 8K is way better choice - in term of workflow and less post production work. If you don't want to Qoocam 8K problem - go for the Enterprise - which is a better built and have livestream that can easily pay for the camera as artists and venue pay a lot now for 360 livestream. Super hot market now.

    I am considering buying either the Insta360 Titan or Pro2 to create professional recordings of theatre, dance and live music performances for 3D display on VR headsets. Are you able to comment on which, if any of theses two cameras would be best suited to this please? It sounds as though the 10bit colour capability of the Titan would be a huge advantage here, but would it really be worth spending 3 times the price of the Pro2?
    Also, reading the comments below I am concerned about the fan noise from both of these cameras. It sounds as though this could be a total showstopper for using either of these cameras to capture clear professional quality audio from from say the dialogue in a play. Even using the Zoom 3D audio recorder that Insta360 are recommending I should imagine that the audio would be completely unusable. What are your views on this please?
    Finally, would it even be possible to record say a two hour theatre performance in terms of battery life and memory card usage.
    Many thanks for your help,
    Dino

    As always - thanks for all your hard work! I have a question that springs to mind, what do you think the maximum resolution for 360 cameras will eventually be and how many years away are we from it? Just to clarify - max res so that when watched inside a VR headset, the footage is absolutely crystal clear and almost indistinguishable from "real view"?

    • @hughhou
      @hughhou  5 лет назад +1

      indistinguishable from real view is a very different story of just resolution. As we see stereo 3D in the real world to see depth. Any thing stereo 3D is double the resolution of mono - like a 360 wallpaper - that will never look real in a headset. Just resolution game, Gigapixels 360 picture is a thing and I do that as well - so - both headset tech and camera still has a long way to go.

      @@hughhou thanks for taking the time to respond to this. Interestingly though, I feel like I am yet to see stereoscopic content that looks truly amazing (there always seems to be some sort of issue with it) and I personally prefer high quality mono footage vs average quality stereo... :-/

    Great video, very interesting. If I understand, Titan is very suitable for low light filming.
    But please I would like to ask you some advices :
    If I have a smaller budget and I want to make professional 360 videos inside buildings like castle, museum, monument (so with limited light), do you think it is possible with Obsidian R/S, insta360 pro 2, or even a rig with several go pro?
    With such cameras do you think it is possible to have a good 4K rendering experience with VR device? Why 4K? Because to make video rendering available to a maximum of people : I take as hypothesis that people have a samsung gear VR and a Samsung smartphone, then they are limited to 4K rendering. (If you know a mean to look 8K video on such configuration I am very interesting. Please let me know).
    Is it true that filming in 8K and rendering in 4K is better for the quality of video ?
    So what is the best solution to have a good VR experience in 4K in low light (and without lost too much time in postprod) between : pro2, obsidian R, obsidian S or GoPro ring (how many GoPro?), or other suggestion ?
    Thanks in advance for your precious advices.

    • @hughhou
      @hughhou  4 года назад

      Yes Titan or any big sensor camera is great for low light. From your list, Obsidian R has prob the best in low light but no where compared to Titan. If you use Pro 2 and Obsidian, I will invest in 360 lighting - which is pretty cheap. You always shoot 8K and render in 4K - It looks dramactically better than 4K to 4K - check my Dubai video you can see the comparison in headset Titan vs MAX.

    Great video, Mr Hou. Not sure this is the camera for me, especially considering it’s three times the price of the already expensive Pro 2 that I’ve recently bought. However, it’s interesting to see what I might be upgrading to in a couple of years once this kind of technology has dropped in price.
    The one thing I didn’t hear you mention was anything about fan noise. That is by far the biggest issue I have with the Pro 2 as it makes it problematic for shooting quiet indoor events like weddings, and even more so if you are recording the sound from a mic near the camera. Does the Titan run silently all the time or is it limited to 15 minutes like the Pro 2?

    • @hughhou
      @hughhou  5 лет назад +1

      Yes. Good call I did not mentioned about the Fan noise - but yes, it has fan noise and it is also limited to 15 min - as lots of computing power on this breast and they need the fan to cool it down when it is not operational. I won't also film more than 15 min and I never did yet on my unit as the data is huge on this thing and data management is nightmare - something I also did not mention in my video.

    • @PsimanUK
      @PsimanUK 5 лет назад +1

      Thanks for replying so quickly. You are a great RUclipsr.
      It is a shame to hear that it also has the same fan noise issue. I thought that it might not have any due to the size of its body. I figured, maybe it had a large heat sink inside to dissipate the heat, but I guess there wasn’t room even in a body of that size. It would be really nice to have a silent, professional VR camera with weather sealing, but I guess we’ll have to wait a few more years for that to become affordable. Maybe the Pro 3. I’d really like those two features as it would make the camera even better suited to shooting long events in all conditions.

    • @hughhou

Can you provide some insight as to how the Pico/Focus headsets are able to "theoretically" display 12K footage? I first wanted to thank you for you continues excellence. I purchased the insta 360 pro last year because of you and it was exacrly what i needed.
    Thankfully i have been landing a lot of jobs and would love some input if you have the time.
    Many jobs are straight forward. But my main issue comes when i meed to livestream a 10 hour event. Ive done ot 3 times now but still not as efficient as i want it. So:
    1 whats the best way to deal with power. Is there a way to exchange batteries without interrupting the camera?
    2- livestream in high quality. So currently i use farsight to my laptop then stream from obs. But the best i could get so the image does not lag or get any artifacts is setting the settings on insta app to 1440p at 3 mbits. Then output the stream through obs at 1080p. How can i maximize quality so it looks crisp.
    Any ideas software tips on livestreaming would be helpful.
    Battery
    internet speed
    Quality
    In livestreaming is my main issue

    • @hughhou
      @hughhou  4 года назад

      You can use V-lock battery and hot swatch them. Have you just use their app? It output 4K. I honestly don't use the Pro 2 for livestream - but Obsidian and Liveplanet which is built for livestream.
