If you’ve ever wanted to speed up the mapping of Google Street view, then this video is for you. In it, I show you how to use an Insta360 One X to add to or update Google Street View yourself.

Thanks for the video, really helpful. I have done some blue lines with a Pilot Era but I have got Insta360 OneX recently and it helps me to figure out a workflow for GSV with this camera.
As for losing GPS data there may be one simple explanation. Your phone is in your car. If you do not keep it under your windscreen your phone GPS receiver may lose your location from time to time because of a car body covering access to some satellites.
You can fix it by
1) keeping your phone on your car roof but that will mean that you cannot start or stop recording until you are out of your car. 2)use an external GPS bluetooth receiver and stick it(or its wired gps antenna) to your car roof, and connect it to your smartphone via bluetooth to get location data from it.
3)Simply keep your phone under your windscreen the way it can see as much sky as possible.

Thanks for the great video. In Germany we don’t have GSV but I will buy me this camera over your link in april and I will record all.
An important detail that the manufacturer should comment on is the fact that the X2 is no longer compatible with street view. the camera does not make videos with CSV. Google itself is no longer listed as compatible with your map. I am sad, because it was a good and cheap product for this function. what do you think about the new Insta360 One X2?

Thank you for your videos, I bought an insta 360 one x and I am not enjoying the results either in HDR or RAW, very low quality I am thinking of doing my work with DSLRs or opt for a more professional 360 camera, Theta 1 offers much more quality than One X? is getting close to the DSLRs?

It _shouldn't_ matter. I'll try it out in the opposite orientation next time I'm out mapping and see.

I also like to turn off the audio before I go out and hit record for Street View, audio is useless in this case, and it just makes your video files larger. Of course you have to remember to switch audio back, after you have finished shooting for Google Street View :)

I've the same issue and have sent a question to the insta360 software people asking for a work around - seems to be a google restriction issue.
do i need an active mobile service to use gps on android? is there a way to record and upload 360 vids or photos to street view without wireless telecomms?
I tried this today but got no gps data and in Insta Studio gives error "no gps data for 0:00 to 0:02. Is it that I have to wait much longer for it to work ie get gps before pressing record. How do I know when its ready.
CAn I do this using One RS? Can’t find the “GSV” on my phone when connected.
The thing is... you have to connect to the phone via wifi so then when you render and upload you end up using cell phone data. Is there a way to upload without using cellphone data. Is there a way to export and then use wifi? Also I have not been able to get trail blazer to work whatsoever.
I do not have the GSV setting on my Insta360 apps.. I got the last update (June 21 2021) and GOOGLE STREET ask me for photos and not for video... "NO" vidéo option! What i do wrong? 8.-(
The new insta360 app doesn't support street view, If you have a One x you will need to find an old APK file of the Insta360 One X app and side load it onto Android, If you don't have Android then you can't do anything about it. Hope this helps

Explained everything. excellent video. I have a problem with my insta 360 one x. As per my knowledge mobile phone converts 5.7 k videos to 4k reducing the output to sv reasonable amount. Is there any workaround or another workflow we can follow to upload video or interval shooting to sv in 5.7k Full quality. I worry about that insta 360 one x cant control directly through sv app. Please help

Hi bro i have insta 360 evo .. i juz buy brand new from amazon. i was doing same as u did to upload video so later google will automatically make path and convert video to 360 immages. but after exporting my video it says "sharing failed (request failed (404)-1011)... below retry and cancel.. i tried many ti me but still same.. plz let me know what to do to fix it. thanks a lot.

No. I don't have one. The new insta360 app doesn't support video GSV mode last I heard so I'm not sure it is possible.

Looks like google removed your map of the park, did they let you know why?
I wish I could find this tutorial with iPhone. Your screen looks nothing like mine. There is no option to upload to google street view or any of that info when I click the three dots.
Hi, I am studying the INSTA ONE X from middle of december, and I got the experience you showed in the video.
I am using the INSTA walking, not driven by car, so very slowly, and I got some failures like you described.
My concern is mostly on the time necessary to export a file.
For a file of 4 min it takes about one hour.
Then I don't know why for each video the camera records two files, with a relatively equal name .....
What I think miss here is the possibility to reduce the frame rate like in the PRO version, so that the software shall work quicker.
A negative aspect of the camera is that it warms very easily and the power consumption is high even if it doesn't record but it is simply ON
What I really don't know is how I can link two different path recorded with two different video, for example because I had to replace the battery.
Do you know if it is possible?

5.7k is the only record format that Splits the videos in two. to rename Leave the _00_ (left lens) and _10_ (Right lens) so for example
VID_20191128_154912_00_101

Becomes File One Name Here______________ MyNewTitle_00_101
and Second File (Don't get them mix up) File Two Name Here_____________ MyNewTitle_10_101
Finally Take Your Battery Out Of The camera when not in Use.. Its a Cheap Battery (Extra money for Cold Weather battery is a joke..)
and it suffers from what is referred to as Phantom Power Discharge. GOOD LUCK

At the end I supposed what you write, because files with 4K30fps generate only one file.
The batteries are a problem. Two days ago the camera stopped working .... because I was in high mountains with cold situation and wind :-(
I made also tests with the original GPS device ..... I think it doesn't work so well, even if it is very friendly because it allows to drive the camera on-off and to select different functions
I heard best to keep videos within 1-3 mins max... Don't forget speed max 20mph/32km/h

I did try to follow this tutorial but when I try to share it stop at 0,3 % and take me back to the gallery, I made an account on that Insta360 community to see if that would work, but it did not help, when I try to connect my Insta360 One x directly yo Streetview it identify it as a Insta306 One X2. So have something changed then you made this tutorial?
I looked with the stats as you suggested in this video and the GPS position was working, I had missed that function and I will ust that when make some walk videos from Sweden, so thank you.
just this night, I have experienced the same problem you got with the GPS. So at the end of the upload to Street View I got the message that the GPS informations were wrong ....
I was walking in mountains, so moving very slowly, in open mountain and playing to the video I see that the GPS information are present.
Normally I always cuts the first two seconds of video because there miss the GPS info, always.
So the first two seconds are missing the GPS. But I know and I trim the video.
I suppose it is a problem with the communication between smartphone and camera .... that some information are missing and Street View refuses the file.
What's the longest video you can post to GSV?

The new app doesn't work with video mode. Maybe try uninstalling the new app. But I found that Google prefers 8K video mode instead of 5.7K so they are not very good in supporting One X users anymore.

Actually, you can use GoThru Street Builder to upload One X2 video to Street View
there is no more google street view on where you mapped, why?
It's there still. I've found that at certain zoom levels or devices it doesn't show up. If you zoom in and drop the street view person there, it should work. The other places I've recorded show up. This park is just weird.

This was done with the insta360 one x app. I haven't looked at the new insta360 app. I sure hope they still have GSV in it
@@FlarecorpMedia Thanks for your reply. Confirmed, with the one x, the new insta360 app doesn't have the option of GSV neither to share with maps. The old app isn't an option because when I share to GSV a black screen appears and it doesn't share. Very bad 🤷♂️

I wonder if you may explain how to remove not only the camera stick, but the whole car just as what happen with professional google cars.
You would need to do very computer intensive editing with After Effects. Just put the camera high enough and put a logo over it. Literally no one cares about the car.

Correct. You'll need to track down an old, safe copy of the insta360 one x app and side load it on Android

I don't know. The only thing I could find about sharing failed was this:
Q8. What does the error "share failure" (share-4) or "export failure-1" mean when trying to download photo or video to my phone album?
It is caused by access restriction of the App to the phone local album. To solve it, please allow the App in the system settings page of your phone then tap “Insta360 ONE X” and “Album”.
So maybe you need to give the app more permissions in the phone's settings.

Hi Flarecorp Media, thank you for all that information on how to do Street View with insta360 one. I'm seriously thinking of getting one now. I think insta360 is better for the iPhone. Like you, I also have a GoPro Fusion but it is too much rigmarole. I recently tried a Ricoh Theta Z1, but then I had trouble keeping it connected. It stayed connected to my iPhone but there was no option for taking movies with Street View. So I got an Android, as there is an option in the Android to take movies. But I had trouble keeping my Ricoh Theta Z1 to the Android. So I returned it under 30 day money back guarantee. Maybe I will try Insta360 one x 2. Once again thanks for teaching us how to use Insta360 one x. Does all this blur our peoples faces and plate numbers of cars?

I like the Insta360 ONEX the best so far. It’s easier (despite still having it’s flaws), but if you don’t want to have to keep your phone out (say you’re out hiking) then go with the Fusion.

Yes they changed it. This was with the Insta 360 One X app that is no longer available. GSV unfortunately isn't supported in the new Insta360 app.

Thanks! No, it does not need to be on. The Insta360 app has what you need built in as long as you turn on the GSV setting.

Video mode doesn't work with One R :( But you can take individual photos and upload them.

I've never tried. I feel like that might "pollute" Street View with too many user images, plus I don't see the point. It doesn't keep track of which direction you are driving.
Yes you can. Google will connect them as if it was one recording. That has been my experience, but best for you to do a test and see how it does.
A really good video, thank you. Street views taken by Google don't show the car. Do they delete this in processing and if so can we do the same?
Yeah, there's nothing you can do about that unless you want to manually delete it from every frame 😉

Is it possible to complete what you did in the video, so have it fully uploaded to Google maps, then using third-party software to connect to Google Maps, download back to the computer the completed 360 photos on the blue line, add the our logo in the Nader in our 3rd party app, since many apps can auto patch the Nadir, then update back to google maps the new photo with Nadir through my account?
does google automatically censor people and license plates or do i have to do it all?

Unless there's something I don't know about, it should. While recording, it should only need to use the phone's GPS signal.
Hey Jason! Is it possible to take pictures and send them to Street View, instead of capturing frames from the video using this camera?
Yep. I just verified photo sharing works in both the old Insta360OneX app (seen in this video) as well as the new Insta360 app. Take the picture and then click share and you'll see GSV as an option.
(Just a reminder that video does not work in the new Insta360 app, only in the old app.)
