Hey Ben, I'm having trouble getting Street View to work with my snapseed color corrected images. If I upload the original file it works, but just a slight change in contrast on the photo and Street View rejects it... Please help.
It might make a good short video since I can't find anything that helps explain the problem, same with google orientation of the thumbnails and if there's a way to fix the thumbnail it displays on the listings carousel. Anyway, thank you for your video's!!! They helped motivate me to start my video business and incorporate 360! I already have 50k image views of small businesses in just 2 months, I'm stoked! I want to get better quality photos on street view but the darn problem is plaguing me...
I started with a Insta360 ONE R and loved it so much I just got Z1 based on your video recommendation! Thanks again! You Rock!

Another fact about street view that I think you didn't mention is that even if two or more shots taken by different photographers are located at the same spot they'll still save it in the system and each photo can be viewed with certain apps, for example the Oculus Quest game Wander will for example show that two shots are available at location x, one from 2015, one from 2021, and you can select and view each one. I love this feature for popular landmarks, i've seen some locations with over twenty shots with some photos from like the early 2000's all the way up to 2021 and it's fun comparing the changes over the years in VR.

Be aware that Google is very temperamental and it can take days or sometimes weeks before your actual photo-sphere shows up correctly. Linking photo-spheres together is also quite hit or miss. I have wasted many hours with varying degrees of success to get things to work and learned to keep things simple and give google time to sort things out.

Useful video. Sadly, after the Street View app was scrapped by Google in March 2023, it is now *impossible* to upload individual 360 photos to Google Maps, to appear as a 'blue dot' in a location not linked to a 'place'. I understand that there will be no more new 'blue dots'. Only full 360 videos can be uploaded in the new Street View Studio - so if you want to provide a view of a specific location (eg. a mountain top or whatever) you will have to shoot a short videoclip! It's all very annoying.

New info: The street view app will soon be defunct and replaced with Street View Studio. This means the street view app will no longer be available embedding GPS data. I'm currently using Theta X which has built in GPS. Theta X also has video options for 2 frames per second, and 10 frames per second. 2 fps is great for walking, 10 fps is great for bicycles and e-bike (tested by me). The workflow is so much nicer than my old days with the Theta V. Just record, and upload from your computer directly to Street View Studio.

Hey Ben, loving your work, and you have inspired me to purchase my first 360 camera. Looking at the Insta360 one R, as it seems to be the best compromise between video an photos, while I decide which direction I want to focus on.
Anyway, on to the point of my comment, with a video request, which I would love to see, as nobody appears to have done it yet. So, I would love to see a video showing us different ways to photograph items. So in the same place take a photo with the camera at ground level, at head height, and held high on a pole. How do these different heights affect photos of buildings, trees, people, landscapes, etc.
Also, more videos appraising other peoples photos, of which I saw one video, and found it really educational, seeing how to improve technique.
Anyway, thanks for your hard work, I'm looking forward to getting my first 360 camera and joining this community. I'm a fellow Aussie, living in China, so looking forward to getting lots of interesting tiny planet pics around China!! Thanks again for all your hard work, you have inspired me, and I'm sure many others!! 😀

Great video! At 10:40 you say that it's easy to go back in the app to fix a location. On my phone I don't see this option. The Google Street View app on Android is a mess. It wouldn't allow me to upload 1 out of 16 photos, which works perfect on Facebook or uploading it directly through Google Maps.

Nice tutorial, are there great apps for upscale/denoise on iOS or removing people/monopod on windows (not photoshop)? A mixed workflow on both is exhausting…

Now that Google has announced the streetview app is going away, how do we post 360 photos using just google maps? Do you know how to do that? What program to take the pictures with and how to publish them would be nice to know. TIA I can't imagine why Google is doing this. So wrong.

Hi Ben, thanks for your videos^ always interesting and educational. I've been waiting for this one for a long time. And have a very important question for me. I used street view for iOS about 3-4 years ago - it worked fine. But then on the "move and connect photos" the previews on the bottom disappeared and it only worked on android(which had also problems with connecting and positioning photos). I couldn't find any solution and lots of other users reported the same issue. I used Panoskin and that worked ok. But now it looks like GSV works fine on your phone, however I still face the same problem even with the latest iOS and Google Streetview app. May be you can help me out with that? Did you have any similar problems? May be you know the way to fix it? Thanks
