Hi Ben, am I right in thinking that these cameras can no longer post directly to street view? I’m trying to figure out if I can offer street view linked virtual tours as a small side income

When I go Export > 360 > Share to Google Street View, my resolution is limited to 1440 - even though I've recorded in 5.7k. Consequently GSV prevents uploading anything under 4k. I see in the video above that you (Ben) have changed your video resolution setting just prior to uploading to GSV. I don't seem to have this option - how do I unlock this?
You can record GPS data separately, on a separate device, it doesn't need to be in the camera, or connected to the camera. Just needs to be recorded at the same time as the video. (e.g. GPS logger by BasicAirData) or any GPS tracker that records data at one second intervals and will give you a GPX file.
I sure prefer to inject the gps data into the video directrly. But as a backup I press my Garmin watch for the activity walking or biking. Using the Garmin connect website I can export a gpx file that google streetview studio can read. I have downloaded the gps track editor software and use it to increase the the frequency on the GPX file I got from my Garmin watch. Now testing with a 5 seconds and 2 meter maximum between points. Hope that will fix things..... let you know.
@@kimrozenberg9513There are ways to extract the GPX file from the original .360 video externally (not with the official software - it's trash). Google street view in my town is outdated so I am wondering with the Insta360 X3 and a suction cup car mount can I remap my town for street view? The Insta360 X3 is by far the best option to possibly do this by price and quality but obviously not on the level of what Goggle actually uses to do their mapping.

Great Video. I think I am missing something simple. In the Upload 360 video section at 7:56, your mp4 file seems to already have the GPS data encoded. I am using the insta360 studio (Mac 2023) to export my 00 insv file to MOV. Using the insta studio, I can toggle on the stats and see the video contains GPS info captured from the insta remote/GPS. Somehow my GPS data is either not carried over to the exported MOV or Google doesn't see it. When I upload this mov to GSV, I received an error from google streetview studio that GPS data is missing. Is there a trick? Your video makes it looks so simple. I am hoping to do the same. I am using One RS 1 inch with the new GPS remote. All firmware and software is latest. Thanks
I received a reply from Insta360 support. The current version of insta360 Studio does not export the GPS data: "Please allow me to explain that 360 video exported from Insta360 Studio carries no GPS information currently. Now it is recommended to upload it via the Insta360 App to GSV directly. The new version of Insta360 Studio is under development. It would be helpful if the this overview mentions that.
Looks like Insta360 has fixed the issue of GPS export in the Insta360 Studio 2023 version 4.8.10 Export 360 video and also check option to export its corresponding gpx file. Google street view studio will allow the import of the mp4 file then warn you there is not any gps data embedded. In that same warning message, hit the 3 dots and select add GPX file. It works brilliantly.
Hi Ben. Very helpful video. I'm a professional photographer and videogtapher. Just about to leap into 360 photography. Mainly commercial property but I also want to do GSV. I'm torn between the 1 Inch and X3 having seen this video. The Insta 1 inch is clearly the winner quality wise but will it be a challenge for GSV? Does it have GPS even? My first commercial job could be 15 rooms for a local university. They dont need GSV.
Nice video. I have a question. Is it possible to use a garmin gps to collect gps data with insta 360 x3 and upload easily ? Or it just works with insta gps Remote ?
For the desktop workflow.... how do i export the 360 video to my computer with the GPS data attached? Do I need to export with the phone app and then move that file manually to my desktop? I am able to upload directly to google from the phone app but cant figure out how to do it on the desktop (my motivation is to save my phone storage space :) TY for all the work and tips!
1. Make a folder on your computer for your Video files 2. Remove the memory card from your camera 3. Download and install UL2GSV 4. Follow the instructions for the software. 5. Copy the shortcuts to your desktop after the install, as described in the instructions. 5 b. Select a video file with "00" in the file name this video file should have the extension .INSV 6. Drag this file over the shortcut called INSV2.GPX then follow the DOS prompts. This process generates a .GPX file in the same folder as your video file. 7. Use the same .INSV video file with the "00" in the file name to create the mp4 file using insta360 studio. 8. Submit the mp4 video exported from Insta360 Studio to google street view studio. ( in the export process make sure you select export 360 video} 9. This may give an error which is great! Click on the three dots below the error, which will ask you to upload your .GPX file, navigate to your folder you created on your pc where your videos were saved select the .GPX file. 10. All done! street view will start processing your video. This looks like a long process but once the software is installed to upload a new video take just two minutes! Enjoy 🙂
FYI, the Export to GSV only exists if you have the Street View app installed. It's no longer available on the App Store so if you don't have it installed, 7:05 won't work for you and it might stop working as soon as GSV gets disabled on March 31, 2023
This makes sense as GSV is not an option when I try to export a 360 from the Insta360 App. Do you have any idea what the best way to upload to GSV if this isn't an option please?

Hi Ben, and thank you for your videos and your channel, always informative. Would you be aware of a private setting alternative? I'd like to make a street view on my fields, but not to let it open to everyone. I know of the "maps" option in Google maps that allows to view a .gpx track, but I'd like to make it as GSV, and couldn't find how to sort this out. I can use google maps or google Earth, both are fine.
My first attempt to upload to Street Views came back with error for less than 10 GPS points. I recorded in Timelapse 8K/1 fps with GPS enabled. I think that I locked my phone and the app disconnected from the camera and therefore didn't capture GPS points. If not that, then maybe I didn't record a far enough distance although I did about a half mile walking. I think the issue is the former. In any case, I will be redoing the recording later this week and try uploading again.
I have bought this device along with the GPS specifically for street view use after watching this video and have had no luck at all? Keep getting error codes and messages saying that no GPS data was recorded. Although everything seemed fine and the connection was shown during the time of recording? Am I missing something? this has turned out a very frustrating experience and I might end up returning both camera and GPS at this rate. All firmware is up to date.
GPS remote sucks because of the bad connectivity, always disconnected from my X3. I lost almost 2 weeks because of no GPS. Fortunately, I also record GPS using Ultra Logger on Android phone.
I have an issue where when I upload the video through Streetview Studio it shows the GPS Data as missing, even though I had it turned on while recording. How can I fix this? Also, when I click on the UL2GSV link, it says I can't join the group. How do I do this? It seems really helpful with this problem
Hi Ben, just bought X3 and GPS Smart Remote for a project in a national park in Sardinia; asked for GSV blue line. But I have a "small problem". Any video I take are refused by GSV Studio saying NO GPS DATA ! But if I use the same video into insta360 Studio I can easily overlay the gps data. Any suggestion for me? I bought mainly to do blue line in GSV. Discussing the issue since one week with Insta360 support but... still waiting. Thanks for your help. Marco.
Hi Marco, insta360 studio removes GPS data during export. They are working on fixing this. Use the UL2GSV software to get around this, specifically insv2gpx which will give you the GPX file you can upload alongside your exported 360 video

Hi Ben, I've looked through all the comments and done my own research, but I still can't get GSV to appear as an export option, even in the 360 export page. I found the software to extract the data on my Mac, but I'd like to be able to upload directly from the app. Any info as to why GSV doesn't show up even under the 360 export page? Thanks!
Great video. BUT it is same that the smart phone camera not supported anymore. Every phone has a GPS. I will not buy 360° camera just to post some photo sphere pictures.
Another great video, Ben! I have a question. Would there be a 360 video software or app that would allow me to walkthrough the job with a 360 attached to a helmet as opposed to the drop and hide method? The reason I ask is because I need the capture process to be quick and efficient more than I need it to look great. I’ve seen that Drone Deploy offers that service but it costs way too much for a new inspection company just starting out. Thank you for all of your hard work!
Hey, I shot the video in 360 mode with GPS on full time in my phone which was connected to camera for whole duration of 360 video. In studio, later I found that initial 2s didn't have any gps data but later I could see the status showing gps coordinates. So I trimmed the video for that duration and tried to upload this edited video to street view studio. But Street view studio keeps telling no gps data found in that video. Am I missing something here?
Hello! I bought the gps controller but it hasn't arrived yet. I made a recording using my cell phone. I turned on the GPS on the cell phone. Editing on the computer, when exporting the video in "mp4", and loading it in Street View Studio, the GPS is lost. What can I do in this case?
Hi Ben, do you know how to shoot 360 video for a StreetView with a timelapse feature? I walked 15 minutes, so the timelapse video is compressed to 30 seconds so when I convert it to a video with a 360 Studio it thinks I walked just 30 seconds and it strips just first 30 seconds from my GPX track (provided by Action Remote). Is is possible to use Timelapse for a Street View? Thanks!

I've tried 8K timelapse on X3 and your tools for google street view. Everything is fine, except that for some reason gyro data are not recorded with video file - from 50th second of footage or so. Till then, footage is nice and stabilized. I used 0.5 s as interval. Maybe it's because of that? I'll try 1s next time...

hi Ben. I am working for a real estate company and they need 360 videos to post on their website and google street view. So is there anyway to remove myself from the 360 video in order to have seamless experience? I am using Insta360 X4
Hi Ben - thanks for the video. Having only done 360 Photos using my Theta Z1, I have a question for you. Prior to this, I would just take 360 photos at various locations inside the business with one or two outside. So the question is, "going forward, would it just be better to walk around the business recording a video ?
I think it depends on what you want to do Photospheres (or photos you've been taking) are great to give a view inside a business. Its essentially a 360 sphere photo only attached to a business on Google Maps. VS a video that Ben is showing will be used for Google Street View. The difference is that this video is not essentially tied to a business / business page. It is tied to an area or longitude + latitude.
Hi Iain, if it’s for a paid client then it will be better to capture photos for higher quality. As long as you capture GPS data with them, so they’re easy to place on the map in your virtual tour editor.
Street View app is obsoleted, I also used it to add my panos. Since then I cannot upload panoramas based on GPS coordinates, you can only add panos to any know place (restaurant, statue, etc). Do you know any solution if I want to add my pano to the middle of the forest and I don't have any insta only MILC, Nodal Ninja and fisheyes?

Once the data file is exported to the library and then auto starts to upload the phone is on cellular and not wifi so takes AGES!! any help/tips please,
Ben. All my 360s shot on the x3 and z1 directly uploading to google are coming out flat. I’ve tried direct with the insta app to google, from my photo gallery right to google, directly to the business photos and from my photo gallery. It used to work fine but this issue started a few weeks ago and I can’t seem to fix it. GPS is always on.
Hi Ben, so now that the Street View app is gone, how do we upload 360 photos into Google Maps (360 photos captured inside businesses)? The only way to load images is to download the 360 photo from the Insta360 app into the phone, then upload as a regular photo into Google Maps. But the formatting is not correct. Please let us know, or point me to a video about this. Thank you!

@@BenClaremont Sorry I could've worded that better. I meant in general not for street view but for content creating . Does any of the apps you mentioned do that or do you know of one ?
Hey Ben, really appreciate your videos. This one was right on time. I have one question, using video for street view, how do you get rid of the vehicle? I'm using a truck and I would like to get rid of it in the video when uploading to Google for street view.
The only way I have found to minimise the vehicle is to use a Nadir image Google will allow you to have an image at the bottom of the your panorama as long as it is not more than 25% of the image. Also experiment with a longer selfie stick, this will make your truck look smaller in my experience.
@7:55 Google Street View Studio As you show how to upload Google Street View Studio in .mp4 format. Please make a video on how to EXPORT 360 video with GPS data in a MP4 format using Insta360 app. As tried it but fail to export with GPS data
I found that recording in time-lapse 8k that using the insta360 app to record gps data in this way resulted in a video that was missing gps data for the first 2 seconds. At 1 frame every 4 seconds and 24 frames a second thats several minutes of missing data. Even though i trimmed out the part of the video without gps data and exported to mp4, google street view still told me the video didnt contain gps data as well as the wrong aspect ratio even though i exported as a 360 video.
Insta360 Studio now has the option to export the GPX file when exporting video. I was able to upload a 360 video directly to GSV Studio from the upload menu via web browser with no issues.
Hi Ben, Do you know how to connect added photos on Street View with Street View added by Google done by the car. Does the new application make it possible, or Gothru. I only add that from a street that didn't have Street View, after adding it, you can go out to the main street, but you can't enter the added street view from the main street back, if that makes sense ;) I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong or it's not possible ;)
What about the fact that it's looses the GPS tracking if your mobile is off / locked... Will it reconnect and trace as soon as the mobile is awake? This is why I still use GoPro Max for road (open street map) mapping.

4. Follow the instructions for the software.
5. Copy the shortcuts to your desktop after the install, as described in the instructions.
5 b. Select a video file with "00" in the file name this video file should have the extension .INSV
6. Drag this file over the shortcut called INSV2.GPX then follow the DOS prompts.
This process generates a .GPX file in the same folder as your video file.
7. Use the same .INSV video file with the "00" in the file name to create the mp4 file using insta360 studio.
8. Submit the mp4 video exported from Insta360 Studio to google street view studio. ( in the export process make sure you select export 360 video}
Enjoy 🙂
@@femiomomo Thank you so much!
Great video.. I was surprised when you said camera can work 2h with one charge😮!
Good review. I was wondering if there will be a way of taking Photo Spheres instead of video for Google?
I am also wondering
Great info and video Mr. Ben 😀 Thanks for sharing.... (btw had a wtf! moment right after the end.. ended in a YT commercial/ad.. and not the usual goodbye 🤔 so sitting here waiting for the commercial to finish to see the final/ending.. and then the wtf! moment.. no "if you liked the..." nor "hit the like" at all.. hmmm.... getting old here?? 😁 Happy New Year! the best wishes for 2023 from cold/rainy Denmark..
How or do i need to connect the streetview to a location that already exist at google maps, like a shop of a client?
What shutterspeed do you use when setting the camera up for interval mode?
Hi Ben, and thank you for your videos and your channel, always informative.
Would you be aware of a private setting alternative? I'd like to make a street view on my fields, but not to let it open to everyone. I know of the "maps" option in Google maps that allows to view a .gpx track, but I'd like to make it as GSV, and couldn't find how to sort this out.
I can use google maps or google Earth, both are fine.
Can I live stream outdoors with this camera? make a video plz
Max video size street view studio will accept?
My first attempt to upload to Street Views came back with error for less than 10 GPS points. I recorded in Timelapse 8K/1 fps with GPS enabled.
I think that I locked my phone and the app disconnected from the camera and therefore didn't capture GPS points. If not that, then maybe I didn't record a far enough distance although I did about a half mile walking. I think the issue is the former. In any case, I will be redoing the recording later this week and try uploading again.
The google street view export is not in the insta360 app. Is there a way to add it or has it been removed?
You need to choose the 360 menu when exporting
I have bought this device along with the GPS specifically for street view use after watching this video and have had no luck at all? Keep getting error codes and messages saying that no GPS data was recorded. Although everything seemed fine and the connection was shown during the time of recording? Am I missing something? this has turned out a very frustrating experience and I might end up returning both camera and GPS at this rate. All firmware is up to date.
I have been having the same problem.
Did you get a reply to fix this issue ?
GPS remote sucks because of the bad connectivity, always disconnected from my X3. I lost almost 2 weeks because of no GPS. Fortunately, I also record GPS using Ultra Logger on Android phone.
thank you
I have an issue where when I upload the video through Streetview Studio it shows the GPS Data as missing, even though I had it turned on while recording.
@@BenClaremont could you please create a video showing the workflow you mentioned
Nice job, Ben. Congrats to you and your crew, great work.
Ben, excellent as usual! Can you post links to your Sydney Harbor Ferry work?
Thanks- just drag the google man onto Sydney harbour and you’ll see 😁
Thanks Ben!
No worries!
I don't have an option in my app to upload to Google Street View. Any idea why or how to get? I have latest update to app, linked to google, X3
It should be there in the 360 menu of export settings.
@@BenClaremont We have a insta 360 X2 and there is simply no google street option in the 360 export setting. GPS turned on.
great video. btw the interval mode still doesn't work with gps tracking even when my phone is unlocked the whole time.
Hello Ben thanks for you videos .
I just want to ask,
When giving the virtual tour link to a client , do i need to pay for monthly subscription on a software or is it one time payment for then to use the link?
If so ,Will i charge them monthly ?
Will the uploaded virtual tour deleted if i wont pay subscription?
Sorry im new to this virtual tour, i need to know more .hope to learn more from u guys .
Thanks..
great video!😉 Are there any new features in the workflow? updates X3?
Hi Ben, I've looked through all the comments and done my own research, but I still can't get GSV to appear as an export option, even in the 360 export page. I found the software to extract the data on my Mac, but I'd like to be able to upload directly from the app. Any info as to why GSV doesn't show up even under the 360 export page? Thanks!
Doesnt show up on mine either.
Great video. BUT it is same that the smart phone camera not supported anymore. Every phone has a GPS. I will not buy 360° camera just to post some photo sphere pictures.
I don’t understand 😅
Another great video, Ben! I have a question. Would there be a 360 video software or app that would allow me to walkthrough the job with a 360 attached to a helmet as opposed to the drop and hide method? The reason I ask is because I need the capture process to be quick and efficient more than I need it to look great. I’ve seen that Drone Deploy offers that service but it costs way too much for a new inspection company just starting out. Thank you for all of your hard work!
Hey- yeah you could do that with any software. Look into Cupix.

Is it posible to add one 360 photo from one point on the map and upload to street View studio? do i need insta360 fore that or just any camera?
What can I do in this case?
all the best m8 has the insta 360 x2 with remote lately i cant pair the remote any suggestions ty
Hi Ben,
do you know how to shoot 360 video for a StreetView with a timelapse feature? I walked 15 minutes, so the timelapse video is compressed to 30 seconds so when I convert it to a video with a 360 Studio it thinks I walked just 30 seconds and it strips just first 30 seconds from my GPX track (provided by Action Remote). Is is possible to use Timelapse for a Street View?
Thanks!
mR bEN, gREAT VIDEO. Question. Question the clamp you used, what is it, so I can get one too! Thanks,

is there a difference of quality while editing the 360° Virtual Tour photos on insta360 app vs doing it on laptop/pc ?
if yes kindly make a video on that
Can you talk about using the x3 as a dashcam and will it be able to resolve license plate details.
very very cool...sometimes too qucik and fast content to follow well... but just amazing info... amazing , amazing
Hi all! So may I have an stupid question, but I am not sure. So with the X3 can I upload videos to goggle street view? I need for an gps tracker together with the X3? I planning to buy this device and sometimes want to use for these things. Thanks the answers
Can you do a video on the insta x3 GPS remote on how it works with google street view?
This is the video- there is nothing more to it really
Looking for a camera to take 360 still photos to upload to Google maps and Instagram. My shots will be outdoors in varying light conditions. It sounds like this camera would really work for me. Is there a better choice if I only want 360 still pics?
See my recent 360 camera comparison video 👍🏻
STOP, looks like google has stopped allowing 360 photos being uploaded to a given GPS location.
Is it good for home virtual tour ?
Is what good?
@@BenClaremont insta 360 x3 with BUSHMAN HALO 360 Light, do you think will be good for a home virtual tour ? and can I ask if I can use insta 360 x3 with the other program except matterport?
I've tried 8K timelapse on X3 and your tools for google street view. Everything is fine, except that for some reason gyro data are not recorded with video file - from 50th second of footage or so. Till then, footage is nice and stabilized. I used 0.5 s as interval. Maybe it's because of that? I'll try 1s next time...
Do you have notes on how to just do a single photo?
My insta360 x3 app is not giving me option to upload directly to street view.. can you please help me with that.. and yes i have linked my google account with the app and yes its showing options for RUclips and instagram instead of streetview
hi Ben. I am working for a real estate company and they need 360 videos to post on their website and google street view. So is there anyway to remove myself from the 360 video in order to have seamless experience? I am using Insta360 X4
And, when i use old apk version from some websites, Can i upload photos after ?

I'd also like to know, kinda sad they got rid of it

I appreciate all the knowledge.
Just got insta360 x3 and starting out! In the video you mentioned uploading directly from app to GSV but in my app that option is not showing! Does the GSV app have to be installed first before it is available in app?
Answered my own question 🙂 Installed GSV and now appears as option in app!
Just a few questions. How do you hide yourself in the video? Could you use Premiere to hide you in the nadir or it will lose GPS data? It is possible to upload a video with a logo in the nadir? Will Google accept it?
Newbie and having plenty of issues, I want to keep uploading blue lines as simple as possible and hence want to use the Insta 360 app to share to google. Once the data file is exported to the library and then auto starts to upload the phone is on cellular and not wifi so takes AGES!! any help/tips please,
Great stuff, Ben. How do I upload single 360 photos to a specific point on Google maps (that isn't a business or point of interest)?
you can't anymore
Try the Panorra app 👍🏻
GPS is always on.
grazie Ben!
Thank you!

Is it possible to create a blue line style video using different 360 cameras & clips to say change your vantage point of video at anytime or keyframed ?
No you cannot keyframe google street view images as they need to display as 360 facing the correct direction
@@BenClaremont Sorry I could've worded that better. I meant in general not for street view but for content creating . Does any of the apps you mentioned do that or do you know of one ?

You can’t
Google Streetview icon is not avilabel on my insta 360X4 why ? Any Ideas? Any Suggestion how i can upload to streetview?
Hey Ben, really appreciate your videos. This one was right on time. I have one question, using video for street view, how do you get rid of the vehicle? I'm using a truck and I would like to get rid of it in the video when uploading to Google for street view.
Unfortunately you can’t
The only way I have found to minimise the vehicle is to use a Nadir image Google will allow you to have an image at the bottom of the your panorama as long as it is not more than 25% of the image.
Also experiment with a longer selfie stick, this will make your truck look smaller in my experience.
@7:55 Google Street View Studio
As you show how to upload Google Street View Studio in .mp4 format. Please make a video on how to EXPORT 360 video with GPS data in a MP4 format using Insta360 app.
As tried it but fail to export with GPS data
meanwhile gps data is a checkmark you have to tick when exporting.
I found that recording in time-lapse 8k that using the insta360 app to record gps data in this way resulted in a video that was missing gps data for the first 2 seconds. At 1 frame every 4 seconds and 24 frames a second thats several minutes of missing data.
Even though i trimmed out the part of the video without gps data and exported to mp4, google street view still told me the video didnt contain gps data as well as the wrong aspect ratio even though i exported as a 360 video.
do you know if x2 has the street view icon in app??
Yes
Insta360 Studio now has the option to export the GPX file when exporting video. I was able to upload a 360 video directly to GSV Studio from the upload menu via web browser with no issues.
So you need to upload 2 files?
@josephabraham7691 yes. The video file and the GPX file.
Yeah but you will miss some of the GPS data
Ben, I really like your channel and I bought a Insta 360 camera after watching a lot of your videos. Recently I shot a combination 360 & Reframed (in the Insta360 Studio software) using Power Director 20 I can't figure out how to combine the two videos into one? Can you do a video on that, how to accomplish combining Reframed & 360 clips all in the same video. Thanks in advance.
