Very fascinating vr drone film technology. Unfortunately in Canada, even if I could fly a drone the laws here apparently require one to have just about a pilot's license to fly anything bigger than a pigeon:)...or higher than an NBA player can slam dunk a basketball! )
But I started watching your vids a few weeks back on the Go and Quest2 and its like you are two totally different people....Clark Kent(nerdy guy) in this video with the glasses and Cool Cat in your sparkle hat and British kix in your Palm Springs Ravetrain video and the Denver Colorado music extravaganza.
    Geez you get around! :)
And you were busting some pretty cool moves there....i mean the dancing the chatting up the locals was pretty cool too:)
Bikinis and beer and 50 year old Eurpopean DJ dudes spinning tunes on the mixers.
    USA....vaht' a' Countr'eeee' :)
In mid Canada here during the long 6 months of heavy snow and bone chilling cold the sexiest thing we come acrossto a bikini is a Single Layer downfilledfull length parka with a snowmobile boot only as high as the mid knee:)
But you are definately the hardest working vr guy in the biz...or on U-tube.
    Cheers

    • @hughhou

Yes same here. We will need Part107 which my team does have several. I will suggest take the equipvent test of part107 in Canada - so you can fly with confident and the knowledge you need. Always safty first. This drone is for commercial use - so we usually get permit first before we fly the drone. Lots of paper works for just this shoot lol.

Very interesting footage. At 3:42 there are some blending artifacts visible on the left side of the rock. Do you believe that is something one could finetune for, or is that a limitation of the cameras being around 0.5m away from each other?

Hugh, I'm a big follower, I have an indie 360VR Filmmaker studio myself. I have a massive question that I can't find an answer ANYWHERE in the internet.
What is the device you are using to attach the camera to the drone? It looks like a thin spherical extension with ¼” screws on the camera side. Could you point out which specific product it is?
The most similar device I've seen is the Manfrotto 099B Extension f. Light Stands but that can't be the one!

How do you sync both cameras? Is it possible to turn on both cameras at the same time? Or is this still something that needs to be done in post? Do you shoot at 60fps? Or 30? This could result in one camera being off sync for like half a frame, right?

that's awesome, but it seems like overkill to have two 360 spheres that have the exact same view in 90% of the angles. What would be a better design is to have a half dome above the drone, and a half dome below the drone, only repeating the horizonal cameras to see above and below the side propellors.
