  • Today we are doing a rare and limited edition Dodge Magnum video, taking a look at the rarest models/trim levels, paint colors, and years, all with production numbers! Ultimately, the Magnum had a short life, with just 4 model years from 2005-2008, but it still sold 184,299 times over that span.
    This wagon was released for purchase as a 2005 model, becoming Dodge’s first station wagon since the 1991 Dodge Colt, and the first full-size American station wagon produced since the Chevrolet Caprice and Buick Roadmaster Estate wagons in 1996.
    The Magnum had bold and distinctive styling, redefining what the current generation of American wagons would look like, and creating something different from not just other wagons, but most other vehicles in general. Overall, it’s a crossover between a muscle car and a station wagon, but still accommodates five passengers. Some called it a sports wagon, while Dodge called it a ‘sport tourer’.

    My friend's dad had a silver 07 SRT. It got rear ended and totaled in '11. Shame. Really cool and fast wagon! He managed to find an 06 R/T AWD at an estate sale with 1557 miles on it, in red, with every available option on it. He found out later that it was a dealer demo/salesman's car, and it sat in a backroom of that dealership until it closed in 09. He still has it.

    I currently own an immaculate silver 2006 Magnum SRT8 with shit ton of bolt on mods, prepping it for a 426 NA Stroker next summer. My favorite mods to date are the paddle shifters, and Pioneer wireless CarPlay system. Although it has 139k on ODO, you would never know it as I’m constantly refreshing anything that’s worn with brand new parts whether it needs it or not. Awaiting a custom 1 piece driveshaft to arrive now, and then a set of long tube Kooks headers and high flow cats next month. I’ve instructed my wife to just bury me in it when I die, along with all my SnapOn tools

    The rarest Dodge Magnum is the car they used in the first advertisement, It was a red car with a hemi and a 6 speed manual transmission. I had a copy of the advertisement (tv ad) and had it at my local dealership to order the exact car. Needless I never received my car. I was pissed that Dodge was promising the car and not delivering. Like Coke and the Jump jet advertisement.

    When I decided to purchase an SRT8 in 2006, I chose the Charger over the Magnum, even though I loved the chopped-wagon styling of the Magnum. The reason was, the Charger looked much more aggressive, with its hood scoop and rear spoiler. The MagnumSRT8 had no hood scoop or even "SRT" badging on the front grille. Too plain. They fixed that for 2008, but too late.By then I was preparing to buy a Challenger SRT8.

First for sale being a midnight blue R/T (witch was clapped out and I found the color revolting) and the second being my 29A that i pulled the trigger on to get out of a subru with absolutely no engine gaskets left. I've known for years now that the '08 is what I'll be looking for - if I don't go the other route... several people have now taken Chargers (of various models) & swapped the rear roof section from a wrecked Magnum onto it. On RUclips there's a guy out of Colorado I believe that has even upgraded the one he's building - Hellcat/Track Hawk Magnum (Charger base) along with all of the wide body components. Really good project that I can't wait to see completed!!

    I have an '05 Magnum R/T AWD in mineral gray. Fully loaded with the sunroof, heated seats, sat-nav system, dual-zone climate control, electronic convenience group, protection group (side curtain airbags, alarm), tow package... and to top it off, it has the R/T heritage badge on the grille for some odd reason... but it looks good on it. Comfortable, roomy as all hell, and handles a lot better than one might expect.

    I had an 07 magnum with the RT appearance in Marine blue pearl I loved the multipurpose of it,the looks, and how easy it was to hop on the highway and just rack up miles on it comfortably, and it just being different.
    But the biggest drawback I had with mine was I got it with the 2.7 in it ....sadly I didn't have much of a choice and wound up with one with a 2.7, that thing couldn't get out of its own way and God forbid you had an incline infront of you

    I got a 2008 Dodge Magnum Sxt blue steel had it for 8years now . One day I planned to do what junkyard Dave on RUclips did in his video 500 horsepower magnum. He bought a wrecked Dodge Charger and showed how you can unbolt the sub frames with engine transmission wheel breaks and rotors everything including the dash fit in the magnum. It was like a 2017 magnum when he got done it all plugged right in.

    Thanks for a great video. I ordered one of the last ones off the line, an ‘08 RT, Brilliant Black, made in February 2008. The RTs were rare enough, especially in ‘08 as you detailed, but this also includes the 29R Road & Track package, which was pretty pricey at $3,540, so very few of them around. That package included the performance steering, exhaust, suspension and seats, as well as the side curtain and side airbags, which weren’t as common back then. The real bonus though was that package was the only way to get the heritage red R/T badge instead of the basic silver RT badge that came standard. With only 856 RTs made that year, I’ve heard those with the heritage R/T are ultra-rare, with fewer than a hundred made. I’ve taken really good care of it for 13 years now, though it was a daily driver for 10 so the miles have started to pile up. A great and underrated car though, and keep up the great Mopar videos!

    The European Chrysler 300 Touring wagon went on for another year or so. It had a Diesel engine and built at the Brampton plant I think. Funny story, in 2015 or 2016 an employee at the Brampton plant was fired because he took a new 300 off the production line and pulled a dukes of hazard style jump off a snow bank. Crashed the car into another vehicle that was waiting to be loaded onto a trailer.

      Gearing ratio for different models is probably the main reason.

    • @MarspeedCars
      @MarspeedCars  2 года назад +3

      As the other commenter said possibly gearing ratio, also another factor would be weight and weight distribution. The 06 Charger SRT8 had a listed curb weight of around 4,160 pounds, and the Magnum is roughly 200-250 more than that depending on options, and that alone is responsible for 2 tenths of a second slower (as 100 pounds extra usually means 0.1 tenths slower to 60)
