    I made my first two pelts. One half torso and one full body. They turned out pretty good. I have adopted this technique for everything in the skinned room. Made half torsos out of chicken wire and heated bags around them. Just started to make your hooks so I can hang these beauties. As always, thanks.

    I love this! My theme this year is the after life and I’m thinking of making these with clear bags, adding them to stakes and having them come out of the ground in front of the tombstone lit from behind to seem like glowing souls! Let’s hope it works like I want it to! Thanks for an awesome video!

    Awesome! That sounds pretty gnarly. Try making the bodies themselves out of the clear tape technique, then you will be a true convert lol! I like the tape method because of how well the forms turn out.

    I was super impressed with your knowledge and detail when you didn't include the hands. When you skin an animal, you don't use the paws either because - you're right - it's too much freaking trouble.
    Excellent video as always. I just really wish you hadn't given me the welcome mat idea.

  • @the5chronicles
    @the5chronicles 13 лет назад

    Really, really cheap and cool idea. I would probably just adjust the tones on the skin to make it either all flesh or bloody up the black, but I realize there's a time limit for videos and you were probably in a rush. Really, cheap, resourceful and ingenious idea. You can easily cover a whole wall with these and not have to spend a penny for extra supplies.

    @the5chronicles Yeah the big thing is the technique- I love a strong dry brush look but its not the most realistic so I know others might want to finish in a different style. Luckily you can. I have about six haunts at the park Im director for and Im definitely putting a few of these in at least two of them, I had forgotten about thhis technique until someone asked about it on a haunt forum.

    As a guy why has skinned deer before, I can tell you that that looks like the INSIDE of a skin more than the outside. When you peel it off the body, some stringy bits are still attached. Sinew, blood vessels, etc. That's the dermis and subcutaneous tissue. The outside of the skin (epidermis) is much smoother and has a texture more like parchment. When you let it sit and dry out, that dermal blood and stuff darkens a lot, turning almost black. It actually looks almost exactly like your prop here does. So fresh blood on a dried skin looks a bit odd to me. Maybe if it was more of a congealed chocolate syrup color with a touch of red in it. And I would lay the hair on the other side of the "skin" and sort of brush it out around the shoulders.

      @MickeyCuervo36 10 лет назад +2

      Not really sure why that's relevant, But for the sake of conversation, how would you have created this prop? Any artistic input to put forward?

    • @bonniejeangrady9173
      @bonniejeangrady9173 9 лет назад

      +Miguel Cuervo - I have to say, I liked it better before the hair also and I thought the same thing about it being the inside of the skin and not the outside layer. Either way, it's cool and most people just think of "gross" instead of what it is when they are inside a haunted house. Then again, I thought it looked like a chard person before the paint and would have look great tied to a stake like it was a burnt witch.

      Suggestion: Have a pelt with a section which is lying on a cutting board with square-shaped chunks clearly removed and a big knife lying on top of it, with a big pot of "boiling oil" on a stove beside it. Then you can have a bowl of pork rinds nearby and offer them to the people.

    @8bitdeath I actually work for a Haunted house. Screams Halloween park in Texas. Im the artistic director there, no matter where you work being anle to do it on a budget is an advantage. Sometimes you want to make $100 look like $1000 other times its making $10,000 look like $100,000.

    hey man I Love the video and I wanted to bounce an idea off you: what if you first spray painted the pelt with a light brown before drybrushing the skin tone? with the black showing through it kinda looks to me like the guy was flamed before he was skined.

    • @StiltbeastStudios
      @StiltbeastStudios  7 лет назад

      +Devin Casebeer I tend to prefer high contrast paint jobs that's just a personal preference you can paint yours however you like. Be aware though that spray paint will flake off because the plastic will move and flex and the paint will not.
