I ran into this problem again last week, and it has bugged me for a couple years. Well done. Yes, hopefully Procreate will give us this capability soon.
For as great as procreate is it is so disappointing how bad their select and filling tools are. When I first got it it took me days to figure out the color fill (was too stubborn to look it up for a bit lol) and I wanted to give up and go back to ibispaint. Thanks for the help :)
Yeah! Jesus Christ. Jsut make a lasso fill tool. It’s not cost money, and they have money. Even IbisPaint is much better with the user interface. They suck and cost money
I need to save this video until I remember how to do this. Thanks Boss! Steps to remeber 1. color under line art 2. make line art reference 3. select color and create mask 4. Drag in black
I appreciate you so much for this. I am a beginner with procreate and have been struggling so hard with this and running into issues with other’s tutorials on this. This is the first tutorial where it actually worked for me. Thank yoooou
Nice work around. 20 plus years ago in my marketing firm we did most of our work in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I just started using procreate. I’m still looking for the clipping path. Clipping path work very well and gave you many options. Do they no longer write that into software?
I'm about to stop using Procreate bc this thin white outline that keeps showing up on my selections... doesn't even seem to matter when i change the threshold either...
I was using the feather option for this, and while it works it does make it blurred if you would want to turn off the line art layer for whatever reason. Will try next time if his works better for me.
Man procreate is trash. Apple is trash for that matter i am so bummed I for a iPhone 15 and it does everyday at 5pm and procreate has so many glitches it’s nuts
Thank you so much for this omg, I'd always avoid using Procreate because the selection/fill tool was so sucky so maybe now that I know this I'll have an easier time.
Thank you so muchh for the tutorial, it has been suck for me getting used to procreate (im newbie for procreate) when im fully used to clip studio paint with bunch of useful features.. may I asked if it is possible to pick color from what’s on the current layer,, for example, I have skin color on layer 1 and its shading color as multiply mode layer on layer 2,, in csp, I have options as I can pick the shading color on the layer 2 only or the blended (displayed) color from those 2 layers, while in procreate I can only pick displayed color… I wish I have that first option on procreate as well buhuhuh thank u again!
I'm not sure this is what I'm looking for as I'm new to procreate. I just started using it a few days ago. I made a drawing and used it as a reference, with the intention of painting on a separate layer, then deleting the outlines (reference layer). Of course, I ended up painting on the same layer as the drawing. I mean, of course. now if this was photoshop, I'd just copy the layer, select the black drawing lines with a wand on one layer, and delete everything in the same colour. Please can you suggest how I could do this in procreate?
Procreate has been nothing but a chain of frustrations since day one, lack of tools, lack of basic anything, lack of advanced selection or pen smoothing on selection and the worst of all, lack of a blur tool, its just a overadvertised headache. For 20€ its great but with a huge list of disfuncionality it just makes me question those 20€. Thank you for sharing your the vid. :)
This has helped me so much. THANK YOU. It's a shame procreate isn't better with this. Otherwise I love the app. Also I'm now following on Twitch & insta.
1. lineart on top, fill pink on below layer. 2. lineart as reference. pink layer as mask. fill mask with black. drag it as desired. 3. merge pink with mask. set as reff. done
Liminati- ive been looking for this video for months- THANK you- no one else has mentioned this. the white line created by color fill is horrible - thanks for this creative solution!
Then... I have to duplicate all my Lineart Layers and those Copies, Merge them Together in order to Painting Leave originals in a Group, Separated and one Merged all Together for Painting? Wot?
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I hate spending an hour meticulously erasing and cleaning around the lineart…
Why can’t procreate just update the selection tool, it’s been years!!!
I'm waiting
they still haventt
Nope not yet
@@masonjar1405 they never will, too busy adding crap that no one asked for
copy layer alpha lock and fill.... you welcome
This is great and thanks, but it would be nice if they fixed their fucking program.
I wish they will improve their selection tool like SAI. SAI's selection tool is the best so far.

@@TiffanyNg100you can use bucket fill for selection. but magic wand is awful, pixels are all over. and there is no magnets for selection…
I need to save this video until I remember how to do this. Thanks Boss!
Steps to remeber
1. color under line art
2. make line art reference

This is one of the most helpful workarounds I've found so far as a beginner. Thank you ❤

Same. It either fills the whole canvas or leaves a white line. It’s so broken.
@@still_your_zelda ended up causing HOURS & HOURS of extra work cleaning up for a screen print tour poster project.. fuuuuu.... never again lol

I use photoshoot but I need procreate to work like that lol 😂
How can i waste my 2 years watching clue less tutorial out there. I need someting like this!
How this app has no real instruction is pathetic underwhelming and makes it uselss without hours of learning
OMG , HOURS of learning? You must give up RIGHT NOW.
Just an expand and contract tool, that's all I ask. Even Infinite Painter put that in!
Its still jaggy around the inside lines if you continue coloring in with the bucket.
I had this issue when I tried this, too. :( did you ever find a solution?
I think there is none@@hallegarrison38
That problem has been getting me for ages, hated having to be precise and/or changing my brush settings
So I was desperately trying to find a way to do just this, and you, sir, are simply amazing. Gosh this is going to save me so much time!!
Man procreate is trash. Apple is trash for that matter i am so bummed I for a iPhone 15 and it does everyday at 5pm and procreate has so many glitches it’s nuts
Thank you! Really helps when you don't want to close shapes to fill them🎉
Thank you so much for this omg, I'd always avoid using Procreate because the selection/fill tool was so sucky so maybe now that I know this I'll have an easier time.
Just did a "simple" coloring page last night and had this problem!
It’s better than nothing and works better for my more sketchy type of line art than the fill bucket alone. Would-recommend tip

thank you soo much for this, it worked like a dream for what i needed.
I had never seen and use an drawing that so clunky and no user friendly like procreate. I would rather use IbisPaint!
Seems like a good solution for Pencil art, nice job. I suppose not really required if you INK your lines instead of pencil lines. thanks
Autodesk Sketchpad can select by color just fine. Why did I think Procreate was going to be so much better?
Great video.. I found that if you have solid line art you won't have that issue.. A solid line verses a broken line causes that broken line look..
Thank you I am amateur a hi it’s, but I am happy to learn better skils
Thank you so much😭 this really help me save a lot of time when colouring!
Idk how this is supposed to help when shading in specific areas
For everyone who needs it the video starts at 2:07
Or the choice to make straight lines when selecting
This has helped me so much. THANK YOU. It's a shame procreate isn't better with this. Otherwise I love the app. Also I'm now following on Twitch & insta.
Omg you are such a lifesaver. That is so much cleaner and better. I will be using this from now on
man i love sai's selection tool
This tip works very well. Thanks
Ahhh thank youuuu this is very helping ❤
This solution is great. Thank you so much! I was struggling with the selection tool so long
i just woke up.. this is intresting tho, because i dont use procreate that much.
It’s definitely a feature that needs to come to the app!
It didn’t work.
YOU'RE A LIFESAVER
Thank you. This was the best tip this year for me.
3:29 start
1. lineart on top, fill pink on below layer.
2. lineart as reference. pink layer as mask. fill mask with black. drag it as desired.
3. merge pink with mask. set as reff. done
take a shot everytime he says artifacts
Bro...I was just getting into this program from years of PS and CSP. Thank you so much!
Innovative !!! Thanks
Thank you so much I use Procreate everyday and run into the problem often this is so much better
This is amazing.... Just liked it and start to follow. I relish these kind of tips
thanks it's usefull
I'll have to give this a try. I've been having this issue for a while and I didn't know how to fix it.
Its a workaround that shouldn't HAVE to exist, but I'm glad I at least found a semi-simple solution lol
@@liminatii hopefully Procreate will eventually fix this issue.
god bless you. all i gotta say.
i owe you one
Man, you saved my life I was about to burn the Ipad of frustation lmao. Thank you!
Thank you so much bro I was having a seizure with this stupid select tool and you saved me
April 2023, still no decent Selection tool. Thank you!
Sobrang pogi mo dyan bayaw ah 👌 keep it up
Ah thank you doesn’t cover the feeling I have after watching u r vid. Excellent ! Keep up the great work. 🎉
is it possible to take that object just selected, and move it to its own layer?
In CT imaging we call these 2 features erode and dilate when cutting out 3d voxels.
I am glad you said this in public. It really sucks.
Liminati- ive been looking for this video for months- THANK you- no one else has mentioned this. the white line created by color fill is horrible - thanks for this creative solution!
You, sir, are a wizard. Holy sh!t, I needed this

This is an amazing video thank you ❤
