locksmith will hate this Video ! today 06 july 2013 I call a locksmith for change a lock and he said today Saturday its gonna be high price $70 to $200 bucks. and i found this video on RUclips very helpful. Thankyou Century Retail. I save minimum $70 !
thank you so much for uploading this video. I had a broken key stuck in my work place and unscrewing the whole lock and pounding it out did the trick. Thanks again your a life saver
Great video, thank you so much. Saved me the trouble I’ve been reading everyone else had. Your the first video viewed on this will not need to look at any other.
I have the key for the exterior lock. Not for the interior lock. Can I remove interior tumbler and replace with latch? What would be the cost for interior tumbler and key? Is it cheaper to buy a new lock set? The locks are Schlage .
my problem is the inside is loosen is it the same way how to take it out its not connected to the outer key the thick square pin is out steady its yhis easy fix thank you 🙏
This was awesome! Helped me in less than a minute! Damn you slothead set screws!!! Anyone know of an electronic retro fit to a door exactly like this so I can open without a key? Wifi enabled from phone or code or fingerprint? I know of all the usual residential options but looking for perfect fit for this door without having to cut a larger hole into steel frame
worked perfectly but had to use key to screw it in. after the second try got it in with wd40 and keeping the key in the upright position while turning it in a circle.
hi can someone help me? I did every step flawlessly and after completing the job the new key will not turn.its lined up properly eith key hole on bottom, the set screw is not too tight.....any suggestions?
Without the cylinder in the door, can you turn the key in it freely back and forth? If not, you may have a cylinder that is not paired with your new key. I typically buy new 1" cylinder, key combos for $11-$13 and never have a problem exchanging them for a new tenant. Let me know how you were able to resolve your problem. All the best.
The setscrew does not effect how the key operates unless the cylinder is not threaded in all the way. It is also not called a 'tumbler.' Those are the pins inside the lock. It's called a mortise cylinder. This is a stupid video.
And 13 years later this video still help, thank you

Vertical video = utter fail. But, helpful otherwise.

Stupid with the terminology maybe, but it's probably saved people hundreds of dollars calling a locksmith for what could be a 5 minute DIY job.
Thanks for making this!!
