Very helpful. Had to swap out a passage lock for a storeroom lock (GC wanted like $1000!), removal was not included in the install instructions from Schlage. With this, took about 10 minutes total for a moderately handy layperson.
Very nice video! When my lock set was installed, the levers were reversed from the desired position. We could not figure out how to remove the lever on the key hole side; the lever on the inside came off easily. This video helped us to understand that you need a key to remove the outside lever. Makes sense. I have to ask; why is this not mentioned in the paper instructions that come with the lock set?
Maintenance installed the the lever backwards so the key lever is inside. They cant get back to do it right for days so I will attempt to switch it. 🙄 Thanks for detailed instructions
Sometimes the plate that hides the screws doesn't come off when aligning the indent. You'll have to turn the whole plate counter clockwise to unscrew it. ;)
I had a non-locking door handle and all I needed to know was how to remove the handle and rose so I could get to the philips head screws and tighten them up. THANK YOU! As they say, "Anything is easy IF you know how!"
My spring plate isn't compressing on one side. On the other side, it seems to be completely compressed already and there is nothing to press. I can't get either handle off. Thoughts?
This is a commercial handle used in stores. This shows how to remova it. Great video. It's nothing like regular handles for normal homes so pretty hard to figure it out how to do it.
How come your outer hardware is stainless steel but the inner hardware is guaranteed to corrode and rust so this video is pointless cuz the only way it’s coming off is with a drill and hammer
Thank it help me
I was going to give up taking the handle but I didn’t know you have to have the key on it.
Good to know right! 😊
Can’t get the inside handle off. Any suggestions

Can the levers be swapped easily to switch sides of locked door?

My issue is that I can’t rotate the outside key at all (so I can’t do the step where you need the key 90゚ vertical to remove the handle)

I tried a lot of times, but the lever doesn't slide all the way. Any idea? Thanks
What technique is used to remove the whole component? I have non-locking door handles that I would like to replace with locking mechanisms.
Did you ever figure it out? I'm still stuck on this part too.
@@jshea734 I never did 😭
Thank You! Calling Allegion now.
Ok what about the next part of taking out the stuff inside the door?

Same
Great video
What about if some bozo lost the operating key?
The key side will not release, and the set is stuck in the door.
Use a Push Pin.
That’s me
@@TheCommonSenseProfessor lost that too
The video covers this situation. If the key has been lost, you will need to drill the lock out. Or call a locksmith.
What happens if if you don’t have the key?
I lost my manual that had the numbers to change the lock
I'm gald I watched this after a half hour wasting time not putting the key in, now I know.
Sorry. 3000 steps to tighten the door handle? I need Tylenol.
This is an ad to not buy this. This is unnecessarily complicated to remove. My goodness.

More substantial and secure means more complexity

Lol this isn’t your $20 kwikset lock from Walmart.
It’s for a mechanic or janitor to install not some office paper pusher with soft hands
Need to remove the base
Thx bro 🔥
I don’t have a key.
Can't get the inner rose to move omg lol. Ok never mind I just wrenched the shit out of it
Nope. Mine won’t come off.
