  • This is how to remove a door knob / lock / handle with no visible screws and a stuck latch spindle. You will need to know this in order to remove this door lock. The first is to gain access to the screws which are hidden under the cover plates of the door handle. The second is to remove the latch spindle by removing the o ring which is preventing the spindle shaft from being removed. This will drive people crazy if they dont know....

    Ive just come across your channel. You explain things very well so I have great confidence that youll be able to help me with this problem. Ive been in the construction game for a while now. Im not at all a lock smith, but Ive had to wrestle with a few locks in my time. Ive recently come across an entrance lock that does not move. The door was closed and we couldnt open it. Ive taken the whole thing apart, both sides, up to exposing the latch. It has a type of metal sheet surrounding it. So, basically, you can see the latch going through and this vertical sheet is totally surrounding it and takes up the whole...um...hole, so the latch cant be wriggled free. Im hoping theres a way of taking it out without damaging the door. Have you come across this type of locking mechanism often?

    • @billshowto
      @billshowto  2 года назад

      If you send me a photo I may be able to help. If you just need to open the door and latch is faulty I have a video on using door shims to open the door. Hope this helps👍

    Thanks for this, finally managed to get mine off. The innards of mine were much simpler than this (no o-ring, thank god) but the outside cover was really tight and felt like it'd been glued in place. It also opened only from the outside when most articles talk about taking it off from the inside first, go figure.
