      @@BadmintonInsight While recently working on this shot, I realized that the thumb grip works better than the bevel. As an exaggeration, if I use a side grip, then the vertical to horizontal drop leads to slicing the shuttle in an odd and uncomfortable angle. But if we use a thumb or further up towards the other opposite bevel side, then the racquet face gives a lot more cleaner slice. I will be very happy if could please check this and revert with your feedback.

    If you look at Tai Tzu Yin's shot closely, it's played little inside from the out line, so that the slice won't go out and play a perfect deception, if you play it from the edge of the line, mostly it goes out. or else you'll need to adjust your hand more and either it apears you are slowing down or it won't go beyond the net perfectly. and also, if you turn your back facing opponent's over the head corner will also avoid your shot goes out.

    Just curious to ask.. besides Tai Tzu Ying, is there any player can perform it as good as her?? Because Gillian Clerk always commented that Tai is the only player that can execute this technique in the tournament .

    Wow I just found this gem and it's a bit sad that it hasn't reached that many people... Good for me though now I can learn and use it against my friends XD
    Honestly though I'm guessing it would've gotten many more views if it had "deceptive" or "deception" or something like that in the title. Badminton players love learning tricks to deceive opponents so it would be a great eye catcher word..
    Maybe it's not too late for the RUclips algorithm to give this video another chance to blow up?

    👌👌👌 Very clear explanation, and loving the step by step format! Thanks for this video and great work basically mastering that shot in such a short time... you probably normally don't use this shot much in doubles/mixed do you? Really seems much more suitable for singles play which I think is what most people(at least at my club) struggle with. Will be trying this out in 2 days so wish me luck... 😁

    • @BadmintonInsight
      @BadmintonInsight  4 года назад +3

      Thank you 😀Yes definitely more for singles players! Singles players will of course play more backhands in general. And if you are defending in singles you have to cover the whole court (rather than just the court court you would cover in doubles) hence why is easier to send your opponent the wrong way and hit a winning shot from it!

    • @BadmintonInsight
      @BadmintonInsight  4 года назад +3

      @@BadmintonInsight I see. Yes. You did the left/right when you are doing the demo shot, but I was hoping that this part 0:50 - 1:05 would show as right-handed also. Hehe. I had to download the video and mirror it just to see this part as right-handed. I think the most important thing is you need to show as left/right handed especially when you are explaining and much closer to the camera, I think this is important because most players are right-handed. But other than that I think you did a good job explaining the shot, that part was my only concern. Sorry for my comments. Thank you! :)

  • @Atz888

    It’s cool and all but overrated. Just do a normal backhand with as little strength as you can while making the birdie still cross the net will still let you drop it around the same area.
    The amount of training for this reverse back hand slice is not worth it for the deception because not only do you have to put in a ridiculous amount of time just to learn it but it also somewhat scares with your normal backhand motion and can cause you mistakes/points in a real game.
    As difficult as it is, I’m sure any athlete can do it too with enough practice but choose not to due to the little benefit it brings
