Part 1 of Advanced Doubles Defence coming next week... Is there anything you guys want to know about this topic? 🏸 Hope you enjoy this video and don't forget to subscribe so you don't miss our upcoming Advanced Defence videos! 💥
Thank you for this basics of doubles defence video. I'm sure these tips alone will improve my doubles defense drastically. How do we handle smashes directed at the body rather than at a specific part of the court?
Thanks for inviting, guys! Super love your channel, btw. Oh, gosh, so many things to dig into, really, but perhaps something on how to move the opponents (out of position) through varied lifting to the sides? I hope my question makes sense😘😘
No matter how much i have played badminton, I always find myself coming back to these videos to correct my stance and improve my fundamentals. GREAT VID!!
The quality of these videos just keeps getting better and better! Some feedback: would've been good to have a big red X or big green tick at the segment at 0:47 to clearly show which is right and wrong, like you did at 2:00 :)
Great tips! Really need to improve on my backhand defense. Being a south paw myself, I love that both of you are lefties so I can follow more easily. Thank you guys!
Just want to know what size and weight I should get. Also is the make of pan important bearing in mind i'm a middling club player playing mainly doubles levels
OMG finally my problem has been solved, all of my step are correct except the point that you've mentioned *Body weight over the balls of feet* was the feeling I've been looking for in terms of consistency on my defenses especially high lift defense. Thank you very much for the info. From Malaysia
You are great explainers. Punto. As an Italian living in China it's hard to fully understand what my local friends try to explain to me (their level much more advanced than mine), I really needed this video
Pure gold!! Thank you , I have so many good take home points from this video I can’t wait to try them out and also for the next video 😃 Thanks again for your hard work on these videos
This video will be Very useful to my partner as she is having trouble while defending...small key points are really Very helpful. I will recommend her this video 😇... Kudos as Always✌
It's Not Spoonfeed! It is Demostrating you a specific shot(s) n Variations in real time, so you can Observe! [ How you n ur Coaches handle it is a different matter]
We would definitely disagree with this! For example if your opponents are good in the flat game and you try and counter you may be in more trouble! This is especially hard if they are in a good position in attack. If you lift again then you might be able to counter on the shot after that when you are in a better position!
As told you earlier also I am still at very low level but still learning alot from you both 🙏 आदत पड गई है क्या करें बैकहैंड से लेते ही नहीं सीधे उठा देतें हैं और फिर अगली शॉट और भयंकर आती है 🤣
I try standing in this position for defence but my opponent sometimes hits a clear a drop in which case it becomes considerably harder to take those shots
Great information and training videos. Unfortunately for me the gang i play with only want to play and not look to traing for advancement. Some years ago I was lucky to have training with a Chris Turner who is a great coach. Now unable to find him. How can I find a coach in East Sussex. Thank you both so helpful
Amazing video guys. I always stay in forehand mode and that exposes my left backhand side as mentioned here. Now I will try to follow your tips and hopefully can improve my defense. I wonder who will win out of you two? LOL
I'm an amateur beginner, I started playing with a group of friends who already know how to play. I'm learning to play without training because we don't have coaches in the group. So it's harder to learn to play correctly. However, watching your content (videos) I end up raising many doubts. Really good work, congratulations! Just one question, as an amateur player I would like to buy a racket but I really don't know what to choose, there are many options and for different prices, I totally don't know if playing with a 70 euro racket is the same, for example if it were a 150 euro racket... Do you have a video on this topic?
Fantastic content as always, certainly apt for when I ever get back on court. No play in NI till @ least March. Game no doubt will be very hit or miss more miss I fear.
Thanks Daniel! It is possible yes, but probably not as effective! The difference is quite small and there may be some times you would use a bevel grip - we will explain this in a little more detail next week! We didn't want to confuse people in this video!
Thanks.. Please can you help advise on the sidewards foot work in doubles, when your partner is at the net and you are at one side of the court at the back. Sometimes i end up running, though i am in attacking position..so need your advise on smoother foot wirk
Great video. I think my drive and block are reasonable, but the lift is certainly something that I want to improve. I'll practice your tips in the lounge and try not to break the light fittings 🙂 ... and will then be ready to practice properly when allowed back on court 👍 thanks again!

How to cover the fake drop shots from smash defence stance ??
Ma'am it is my request please make a video on double footwork starting and ending position please🙏🙏

Thank you so much! And yes, great tip - we definitely should have done that! Thanks for pointing that out 😅

Top-notch content mate!
Thank you :D
Watched this video again and corrected my mistakes, thanks a lot guys ☺☺❤❤
Usually I pride myself on having great defence, but when I’m really in a pinch, I just rely on instincts
Just these is my point too, these things are common sense things.u ain't suppose to spoonfeed everything
It's Not Spoonfeed! It is Demostrating you a specific shot(s) n Variations in real time, so you can Observe!
[ How you n ur Coaches handle it is a different matter]
Love the video!
Thank you Derrick!!
Another excellent video
Glad you enjoyed it :)
My coach once said "If you don't approach defending a smash with a mindset of trying to counter it, you have already lost the point"
We would definitely disagree with this! For example if your opponents are good in the flat game and you try and counter you may be in more trouble! This is especially hard if they are in a good position in attack. If you lift again then you might be able to counter on the shot after that when you are in a better position!
Excellent insights. Beautifully explained.

Thank you! Stay tuned for next weeks video!

@@BadmintonInsight YES SURE. :) I know you two must be amazing as doubles partners.
Haha, unless I (Jenny) get a good head start, I think Greg’s taking that one 😆😂
Love the sound of the frying pan hitting the shuttle 🏸
It was SO loud!
0:40 is such a good tips for me. TIL
Thank you! Glad you found it useful :)
what racket did you have in the introduction and why is it so short as I thought all the pro rackets were all long
Wow good quality video!
Thanks, glad you think so!

Thanks guys👍👍
Thanks for watching! 😄
Fantastic content as always, certainly apt for when I ever get back on court. No play in NI till @ least March. Game no doubt will be very hit or miss more miss I fear.
Thank you very much Gabriel :) Yes it will take everyone some time to get back into the swing of things!
Love the keypoints ❤❤
Nice peer and both are lefty, nice explain and video also
Thanks a lot :)
The grip should entirely be as shown? I watched a few videos that show more of a bevel grip (?) to generate power by rotation, so I'm not sure
the sound of that pan was amazing hah
😆🤪
Good Explanation and very informative. If I am right Handed how Do defend? if possible explain about Thumb Movement as well
Thank you! It's exactly the same :)
Love this!
Thank you Christian! :D
Amazing video ❤
Thank you!!
Amazing video guys nicely explained. Do you think it is possible to use the bevel grip for all the shots shown today?
Thanks Daniel! It is possible yes, but probably not as effective! The difference is quite small and there may be some times you would use a bevel grip - we will explain this in a little more detail next week! We didn't want to confuse people in this video!
NICE FRY PAN TECHNIQUE :)

I am right handed player and want to use left hand also but too difficult to smash and high lift, how to improve left hand please.
If I'm right handed and I have a smash coming down on the same side
....how do I lift it? Tq. Fantastic video 👌
Thanks for the comment and kind words! Stay tuned for next week where we will cover this :)
Great video. I think my drive and block are reasonable, but the lift is certainly something that I want to improve. I'll practice your tips in the lounge and try not to break the light fittings 🙂 ... and will then be ready to practice properly when allowed back on court 👍 thanks again!
Haha sounds good! Yes hopefully we'll be out of lockdown soon and courts can open again! You're very welcome Tom :)
For Clears; follow through as much as possible ( as the video demonstrated n Noted to Allow the Bird a needed Direction n Depth)
Thanks for the great tips 🥰🥳
No problem 😊
Please do a video on singles defense
Great lesson
Thanks!
