Wowwwww... I been searching for tutorials on late backhand...finally perfect explanation is here... . Thank you.. You guys the best.. Will try ut soon... I will record video of it and send to u.. Where and how can i send it?
Hi Aizat, glad you liked it, really great to hear! You can check out our website www.badminton-insight.com for video feedback options and also contact details!
What a great video! A lot of people have a really hard time to execute the perfect backhand shot, especially the late backhand shot. I find this video really helpful for beginners to learn that backhand has different kinds of grip for different occasions. You just got yourself a subscriber ;)
Finally - one of the few occasions where a panhandle is actually correct! 😁 This must (should?) be one of the most requested tutorials after 'hOw CaNz i MaKe mY sMaSh mOrE hArDeR?!' 😉 Very well explained, I particularly like the fact you included the tip about not getting too close to the shuttle - that's really important to enable the correct arm action...although people have to be careful not to fall into the trap once known as 'the Danish swipe' i.e. the racquet still needs to come through on the vertical plane, not the horizontal! (correct positioning also means you're not dragged as far away from the centre of the court) Maybe a mini tutorial about generating backhand "whip" would be helpful for some people?
Thank you so much! 😆 It was pretty highly requested yes! Yeah we've had a couple of people ask about the whip, here's what we've said: Generating 'whip' is essentially increasing the speed of your racket swing just before you make contact with the shuttle. You can do this by using the back of your shoulder more and squeezing your fingers to create more power in your swing and also using more forearm rotation as you strike the shuttle.
@@BadmintonInsight While I generally find your explanations detailed and helpful (and thank you for them :) ), this is one where I just have no idea how it should play out. Namely, how the squeezing action should go exactly. First, my basic instinct leads me to do it similar to a forehand, driving the racket backwards in this instance. Getting over that is quite simple, but trying to make it go forwards results in a ridiculous "flopping" action, with nearly no power. Simply the distance between my palm and the handle when I fully relax the grip is just too small, with my fingers wrapped around it. I also feel a "drag" on my fingers that is not present with other grips/squeezes, like the direction or the pivot point is off. I tried to slow down the video to catch some detail, but to no avail. Maybe it is due to some simple rookie mistake, as I was never shown this grip by my coach. Could you be so kind as to give me some pointers? Thank you in advance and keep up the good work!
Hi guys - this is brilliant - so, to recap, stiff, cocked wrist throughout the shot, power more from the shoulder and fingers (created more by the squeeze on the handle)? Also, can you suggest ways to regress coaching this, ie the best feed and from where? Waterfall from side? Thank you - we are huge supporters of what you guys are doing for badminton in this country and are on the total same page. 🙏🏻
Thank you so much! 😊 Yes - we have just replied to another comment about generating more 'whip' for the clear: Generating 'whip' is essentially increasing the speed of your racket swing just before you make contact with the shuttle. Then slowly build it up to combine all of the components together (footwork, racket speed, hitting action etc) and also build it up from throwing it to the worker, to feeding it in with a racket (multi-shuttle, and then single shuttle like we showed in the video). Hope this helps! :)

I've seen some players run a little close to the shuttle by mistake and still make a good clear...very impressive actually...and its interesting the way they move the racquet to gain enough racquet velocity to generate the whip!
