For district level spent 2 years, for state level spent 4 years I guess, for national may be 6 years, for international may be 8-10 years, but there are tournaments you can play just by paying them.
Wow, I just thought myself, "I need to work on my footwork" after I did terribly on court yesterday. And this video came out! What a timing! I am moving slow especially in singles where my anticipation is really poor (playing way more doubles normally). Also, mentioning muscle engagement in split steps is really interesting, never heard people mentioning that - I will try your tips and see if I can improve my footwork, thank you Jenny and Greg as always!
I've just Won a Tournament but i was runners up... And can't won the final match so I found all the mistakes I've done in Finale. Then The SMOOTH FOOTWORK with Exact Anticipation was one of them and Main component that made me lose. Thankyou so much for the Video ❤ Lots of Love
Thank you, Greg and Jenny, for all of the work you guys put into the making of these videos. Most of the errors you mentioned and funny demos of it are relatable for a noob like me to identify and correct. Lots of love.
Today I used both my legs to get to the shuttle. I couldn't do it every single time. I even used the wrong leg once. But I was so much better than before. And Jenny's tip about loosening ur body as soon as the opponent serves so so helpful. I was bad at covering my forehand corner. But today I returned almost everything. Thank u guys. U guys are making badminton more fun 😃😄😁
I reallly glad that i found this channel because you guys make the demonstration for right and left handed it kinda hard for me to learn something because im left handed while people out they only demonstrate using right handed
Love it how you overlay the difference between wrong footwork and good footwork. I am still a beginner but i am learning to comprehend the importance of these movements
I had an issue with my non racket foot dragging. Solved it by doing trail running. Jogging through forest/park paths with lots of elevation, and bumpy trails strengthened all of the little stabilizer muscles in my legs, and generally strengthened both legs. Now, using both legs is much easier and more natural.
You guys are seriously awesome. As an American late to the sport, your weekly videos have kept me motivated to improve & the quality of your videos continues to get better. I don't always watch them right when thy come out but I always make a mental note to come back to them before my next session. I know that you try to edit these to be tight and concise but I'd like to see videos with more repetition demonstrating what you're talking about. IE take a player that you have identified a weakness in, show multiple examples (with freeze frames to point at specific things) & then the same thing with good examples, either with your own footage or, if allowed, professional players in real matches. I often find your tips going by too quickly to learn the valuable things you're teaching. Keep up the good work!

Hey Jenny and Greg! Just wanted to say a big big thank you from Australia for all of your detailed tutorial/tip videos ranging from Beginner to Advanced whilst also being light hearted and entertaining! (love the puns and jokes, please don't stop!) I've been playing for about 5 years now after transitioning from 15 years of tennis and I only wish I started playing badminton earlier as I'm absolutely loving the sport. I initially had a lot of trouble making the switch due to the difference with the pronation and wrist movement but over time I learnt that the biggest challenge I had that was affecting the quality of all my shots was actually the footwork being almost the complete opposite! Since subscribing to you guys back in 2020 I've made significant improvements in my game and I'm now teaching a few friends that have started playing last year and it's incredibly fulfilling seeing their rapid improvement from week to week using all the knowledge I've gained from your videos and watching your professional gameplay.
Greg and Jenny, I just want to thank you both so much for sharing your knowledge with us through these splendid videos! I know it's not easy filming, and I genuinely appreciate your efforts to spread the joy of Badminton worldwide. 🤗 It's not everyday that we get to learn from the best of the best of the best. 😉 I've been following your guidance and advice for many months now, and I can observe a notable difference in my movement and technique that have helped me enjoy Badminton all the more! Always grateful for your encouragement! 💪😎
Thank you so much Roger! What a nice comment 😊 It’s great to hear that you’re improving, and a big credit has to go to you for investing the time to make it happen! Keep it up and thanks again for the encouragement 😃
8:57 Caught me off guard lol Great video, really expanded on your previous footwork videos with some more essential tips this time. I never had any coach teach me the basics or the game play tactics- whatever I have learned, I have learned by myself- playing on court, practicing alone and of course, watching tutorials. You deserve an award for the amount of efforts you've put in helping amateur and pros together.
Dang this channel has help me with a lot of the issues i have in game. I was able to keep up with my club members in just about a month because of this channel
thanks for this beautiful video jenny and greg........ i've been trying to improve my footwork for a long time, but after watching this video i feel better and started to avoid my mistakes......... for helping me i've smashed the subscribe button........
Hey Greg and jen do good to see yet again an outstanding video. You are by far two of the most knowledgeable and informative badminton players on the scene. Just keep posting amazing videos…… And perhaps maybe do one with a leading pro again like you did with momota…..it’s always good
Great video guys, almost at 200k subs! Footwork is definitely one of the harder areas to improve on and change habits from, but is also one of the most important aspects of badminton. So the hard work will pay off 🔥
thanks for this video yesterday i had a lot of sudden and extremely painful cramps, also i performed poorly too so this video is perfect for me to perfect my footwork and beat my rival in badminton and a good friend in class 😊
This is a fantastic video guys, really details tip on footwork. I watched your other video on footwork which helped me a lot, before that I used to move like a crab 🦀🦀 Thank you once again for another spectacular video 🏸🏸🏸
Love the video as ever guys. When you have big feet like me (12.5) good footwork is a must so a re-watch is definitely in order. For me slow-motion is a really useful demonstration tool, especially with the speed badminton is payed at! P.S Jenny, a stunning finish at 5:47. To be fair if I played a shot as good as that, I'd be very happy too! ;)
I have a UK size 13 foot. Sadly I cant find any shoe with that size. Do you think I should buy a 12.5 shoe? If not, any idea where I can find a size 13?
I just decided to start doing some competitions so this is very useful. I’ve only ever been self taught so I’m sure plenty of these bad habits in my game. Thanks Jenny and Greg as always for the great advice 😁
Regarding 5:51, in the mid court, a coach suggests intermediates player(apart from the normal footwork) to also learn to hit the shuttle as early as possible, even if the leg hasn't reached the ground. You may lose some control and stability, but the return is so fast that it gives more pressure to the opponent. This is especially useful in advanced doubles play due to how fast the shuttle is, even a fraction faster can win you the point.
this makes sense in doubles, but i heard it’s actually bad in singles because if the opponent returns your shot and your foot wasn’t on the floor yet, you won’t be ready to move for your next shot
Yes this might be true unless you can win the rally with this shot! As we also said in the video we are talking about when you are lunging and taking the shuttle below to height of the net! 😀
@@BadmintonInsight Well, a great example is here, when Greg lunged and hit the shuttle slightly below the net and the foot land after he hit the shot. ruclips.net/video/2LjrBoo7xoY/видео.html
Could you do a specific video on foot work in doubles. The ones you have done are very useful but watching pro matches it seems the are subtle variations when in doubles. The "bases" are different and you thus have different angles for directional splits and different travel e g. across the back. Thanks Andrew
This is such a good way to improve your foot work very smooth and easy also I will practice every tip you guys have because I want to join the badminton team in my school thank you JENNY AND GREG 💕💕
Could you make a video on transitioning between Singles and Doubles games? As both are different format games , what tips you'd like to give us so that we can balance the game
I think one thing that can also be mentioned is take how a shot is played into consideration. A full blown jump smash for example is harder to regain control of the body afterwards than a lighter smash with feet on the ground, and thus making the following movement slower. This is also mostly true for dives vs lunges, overhead shots vs rear backhand, etc.
This was my number 1 fix for anyone I work/play with... the biggest problem in badminton is tree 'trunk legs' where a players legs seem like they're rooted to the ground.
Thanks a Lot,Greg and Jenny, now i don't do the mistakes.Actually i fell in love with badminton because of you guys thanks for Guiding me in my journey hehe❤❤❤

Wrong way on the left and Correct way on the right side of the screen 2. Rally Video: Correct footwork on the left vs wrong on the right 3. Correct way on the right vs Wrong way on the left

Thanks Jeni.. Can you please mention the 10 shots which you mentioned in the video and can you make video for shadow foot work training with those 10shots
