This video deserves 1 million likes because it's the most detailed video I've ever seen in my life. You guys are the best badminton youtubers, I hope one day this channel will reach 1 million subs
Just want to let you know guys that your sessions are simply amazing and really help in improving for badminton players like me who never took coaching to know good basics. Also Greg being left handed is a bonus for me since I can perceive much better when a left handed player displays a correct technique. Keep up the great work.
As someone with limited power in the smash, I rely on placement and disguise. So if course I use the drop shot quite a lot. Watching this has reinforced my technique. Thank you. If you are still accepting ideas for new videos, I would love to find out how to defend a smash on the backhand side lifted cross court. For a right handed player this would be a lift to the left side of the court, not the right. We mainly see this in the doubles game. I'm fine with the driven straight defensive shot and the straight lift. This is one shot that is missing from my game. Keep up the good content.
Aloha Greg and Jenny, 7 different drop shots. That's an arsenal of winning shots. Your explanation is definitive. Each with it's own specific use and situation. I am always inspired to practice the shots in your tutorial and once mastered, try them out at the club. Such fun. It keeps opponents guessing. They are always baffled by my latest new shot and are kept busy trying to counter them. Your tips help to fine tune my existing repertoire and adds creative new drills to practice. Love your work. Thanks loads for your timely and informative posts. Also you guys look fantastic in your TRME shirts. Admire your look. Stay well.
Even though I've already learned all these techniques, I really appreciate that you guys are doing this for everyone so that everyone can learn it, and a bonus for people like me that are left handed, because there aren't really a lot of left handed tutorials
Your tutorial are amazing. I am feeling that why hasn't someone taught me these techniques before.I would definitely recommend these video's to my colleagues and practice them during multi shuttle.
You know I’ve played badminton for years since i was in my high school but i learnt how to play it only by myself but now when i watched this channel, i realize that there’s a lot of basic mistakes that I’ve done until now which me myself need to improve. Thank you badminton insight! 😬
This is a great lead in to the individual break downs. The stop drop is a personal favourite, it helps being over 6ft as well :-) I need more practice with the reverse slice drop as it is really satisfying to do well.
Sunday is definitely the best day of the week thanks to you ! Thank you so much for the video ! The "Tai Tsu Ying loopy drop shot" looks really hard to master though... Can't wait for the routines to practice those shots ! See you next sunday
WOW - the best video covering all the types of drop shots! In your opinion, which is more important: speed or closeness to the net for drop shots? Thanks!
Hey guys, longtime subscriber and I watch your videos regularly, your channel has earned a lot of success over the past two years and I think that's largely based on your personalities. Where I feel you guys are lacking, is where you are so conscious of the attention span of viewers when it comes to covering a technique. I often find that you two glide over the technique of a shot (at least for those viewers who actually want a long look at all of the mechanisms) bc you're afraid people will stop watching. You're both professionals and very likeable, please break down techniques more in-depth.
Hi there thank you for your feedback! That’s interesting as to be honest we often feel like we don’t have big personalities & we rely on our technical knowledge haha! Do you mean more for this video, or for our actual tutorials (like the “basic drop shot tutorial”)? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
@@BadmintonInsight Thank you for replying, I made sure to look back at the tutorials and, yeah, I have to take back what I said. You both cover the techniques quite well in them. This video was more of a general overview, but it was the loopy drop (which I think is still awaiting a tutorial) that I wanted to learn more about. I also would love a tutorial on how to have a crisp, snappy forehand drive. I checked out the backhand drive video and "How To Dominate The Mid-Court In Doubles " and those have great advice (keep the racket up, grip loose, take the shuttle early) but in games my forehand drive feels too floaty. I'm not sure if I'm gripping too low on the racket or it's just nerves. In any case, compliments on your wonderful videos, they've inspired me to train more and have given all of us viewers a greater understanding of the game. Please keep it up!
High quality videos! Looking forward to more tutorials you make. I am also glad to see victor products in your videos. Here in Taiwan, we manufacture high quality rackets 😉
i don't know there are so many types dropes. i know 5 types of drop i will learn remaining 2 drops i will get stronger in my game . thank you it was a useful video
Everytime I hear "We're Greg and Jenny" I think about that couple Monica and Chandler meet in Friends... haha ! Thanks for the videos keep promoting badminton all around the world like that ;)
Hi Badminton Insight, Regarding the straight reverse slice, do you guys change your grip to more of a pan handle grip or do you still stick with the standard forehand grip? Other players at my club and myself have noticed that our hand tends to naturally switch to a pan handle grip when playing this shot. Thanks again and love all the videos!
Thnks greg and jenny for your useful videos, but pls let me know about the grip for hitting the straight slice, is it bevel grip or normal forehand grip
Thank you Greg and Jenny for this vid, really useful. By the way, I prefer to call the 7th drop shot as the "Watanabe" drop. Because no one does it better than him (In my opinion). More power to your channel!
No special strin tension required. They key here is to maximize the contact time between shuttle and racket. While in contact you use the twist of your wrist to give the shuttle the desired direction. Max time might be a quarter of a second or even way less. Check some table tennis demos for slicing. I think it is easier to understand and watch. That were I learned it, a thousand years ago. Technique is the same :)
Hey Greg and Jenny. I have a video idea about something that i think alot of players would find super helpful. It is about how to analyze your matches from video. I think many players could improve so much more if they knew how to analyze their games. Btw keep up the amazing work! i love your videoes :D
Thank you so much Xander! We'll definitely do a video on this at some point! We recently discussed it on a livestream for our Patrons and people found it useful. Hope you keep enjoying the videos :D
Could at that, the highest axial drill on the shuttle (looking into the shuttle as it moves away from you) is when the shuttle is struck to the right of it - which adds axial rotational speed to the natural axis of which it rotates (it rotates Anti-clockwise, looking into it). The higher the axial drill, the faster the shuttle will travel Conversely, when the shuttle is struck to the left of it, the initial axial rotation is Clock-wise (the reverse for what it is trying to do). Consequently, the shuttle will correct itself through the motion of the air across it, and transform the Clockwise to an Anti-clockwise rotation (and stopping in its rotation in between). This can only be seen in Ultra Slow Mo The reason why the shuttle (apparently) spins in the wrong direction - feathers' edges into the wind (counter to our intuition) is difficult to explain. But I can explain that to anyone who might ask me in person. It requires a description of the aerodynamic principles of the shuttle's construction As I am also a lefty, (~1 in 10 people are) it is actually beneficial for lefties to coach right-handers, simply by facing them in a coaching session, the student can view the Coach as a Mirror
Great content. The no. 07 is new to me. I have a question... How to counter the drop no. 06 ? There is an opponent in doubles who either clears or place close netdrops from the rear court.
My problem is once I start using slice drop , all my drop shots are sliced shot. If I start using basic drop all my drop shot are basic. Any tip on how to switch between shots? Thank you, once again great video👏👏

Great content. The no. 07 is new to me.
I have a question... How to counter the drop no. 06 ?
There is an opponent in doubles who either clears or place close netdrops from the rear court.
So use the no.6 shot only in singles, u can use no.7 in doubles
