For the Ergo-Lift hinge, I had an Asus who's screen used to get insanely hot after long gaming sessions and I used it for over two years and saw no visible issues with it. I think the screens themselves have a thick layer on top of them which dissipates the heat and protects the screen, but it is safe to say that the heat won't damage the screen.

@Sky Gardener that would disrupt the air flow. What you want is a fan cooling that works like air conditioner

      @Sky Gardener
A laptop cooling fan that blows down would just make the laptop hotter. You want the cooling fan to blow up since laptops suck air in from the bottom.

Hey Dave! I think it would be super cool if you also have recorded noise alongside this thermal picture for different tasks. For example, noise level while just browsing, noise level while playing a non-heavy game, and the last one while playing some heavy game with highest playable settings.
It would really help to understand what to expect in terms of noise.
When I got 2020 G14 I was kinda disappointed, because it is unexpectedly very noisy in non-heavy games even with the lowest settings, that was not the case with my older laptop.

from my experience with the G14 for a year. i can say that my screen is already slightly bended because of the heat even with that plastic chain. The fan suck way more dust and air than any of my previous gaming laptop. I would seriously consider such screen design is a red flag for long term use. I wish there is a glass screen option for gaming laptop not only in 4K but 2K&1080P so the laptop itselp can have longer life

Judging by the efficiency and performance, I am hoping an RX6600S 6/8GB will be released to beat the RTX 3050Ti 4GB, which is slower than a GTX 1660TI 6GB but still used as a GPU for thinner or budget devices.

I absolutely love Asus' dedication to keep improving this product year after year. It's not enought to make me upgrade from my first gen G14, but they're clearly listening to their customers. I run my laptop HARD and over the past 2 years I have never had any issues with temperatures. They seem to have properly tested it to hold up to the tempeartures they're pushing. One downside is the fans aren't very durable. I'm on my third set becuse the bearings crap out every 9 months or so, but I would consider my use case to be extreme (high fan rpm for 8 hours plus per day)

Every laptop user should know this.
    1.
Just “raise the bottom” let more air into the machine and you will found cpu&gpu each them reduce 10~15°C or in high usage will have more efficacy
    2.
You shouldn’t be use “laptop cooler” , cuz that effectiveness actually just like you put two bottle caps under laptop to raise it.
But the cooler still use your limited power and it will let cpu&gpu become more hungry.
Unless it has an “independent power supply”.
There also very many ways let your experience better , like
“gamer most of the time should limit cpu’s PL1&PL2 and offset voltage”
    “discrete graphics card overclock”.
“Replace the thermal paste and clean the fan dust”.

I have the 2020 G14 and still a solid performer in 2022. Even as good as this 2022 is too, it doesn't make me want to upgrade.

Thanks for the honest review. I'm happy with my 2021 model due for heat reasons. I do wish the track pad was bigger though

    Great Review Dave!
I'm still on the fence on whether to go with the G14 or the G15
Looking forward to your G15 Review!

Its just a spec bump with a Webcam now. Nothing else has changed for the G15 unfortunately.
