Hey, Dave, just checking, do they have a touchscreen option? I actually really use a touchscreen on my laptops all the time so it's an absolute requirement. The biggest problem with this line and with Razer for a while is the lack thereof.
Asus finally understood what they had to do. Razer’s ONLY advantage was the sleek clean unibody macbook look. Glad to see them catch up. Now if Alienware can also start producing sleek subtle and clean gaming laptops then Razer will be in trouble
Yup, i often hear Razer users complain about quality issues due to battery and display. If other companies can make Macbook inspired laptops without any issues, they are going to overtake Razer, and possibly be the best all round laptop.

These asus machines are arguably way better in looks or battery life but they don't have anywhere close to that performance. However the asus G14 looks and probably will be way better than a Razer Blade 14. G16 cannot be compared though.
They really needed to have made USB C charging work. Either with the more expensive power brick or a side by side dual USB C charging solution. If they are billing these as ultra-portable gaming machines, the ability to make them work over USB C is a must have.
@@johnscotlinkslWould be nice if they added some sort of counter measure for battery degradation when charging over USB-C while performing intensive tasks.
@@Garrus-ub7mf But you would still need a power brick for USB-C if you want fast charging though. Personally I would use at least a 65 watt fast charger so I get a good balance of charging speed and low heat generated by charging.
The G14 this year intrigues me. The LED slash and design is really catchy. And the weight drop a lot. I'm looking forward to an upgrade in coming years
I love that we are in the era of great looking gaming laptops now, words cannot describe how much i hate all those grills RGB lights and aggressive design. This is up there with Macbooks and the Blade for how clean they look! I had a '22 G14 6700s, the design and UX was amazing but the performance left a bit to be desired. Then last summer I switched to a TUF F15 with a 4070, and even though it looks quite a bit less attractive (though still surpassingly understated!) the performance is insane for the $999 I got it for ($400 off MSRP at the time, but now it's easy to find it for that price). The design looks really good, especially on the G14. A shame about the non upgradeable RAM though. It is also interesting that Asus switched from magnesium to aluminum. Some people have been reporting issues with the paint peeling off on the older models, so maybe that's part of the reason.
@@Jarvis2077 Not sure if it's an issue with all manufacturers or if it depends on the type of coating used. I had a company issued HP Elitebook for a while that was also made of magnesium and that one didn't have problems with peeling paint.

About the USB type c thing, Asus explained that type c pins can't handle higher amperages and to deliver 240watts, they would need to supply power at 48v which adds a ton more circuitry which in turn results in more lost energy and more heat
Such a beautiful design, they nailed it. I originally thought the previous generation was the epitome of undercover gaming laptop design and so I was relieved to see them take it a step further. I hope other brands take note, this device will put many other brands out of business. Aside from price there's no reason to go anywhere else.
I still own the 2020 g14 with the 4900HS and I love this line of laptops. I'm shocked with the redesign however, it's odd to me they removed the airflow features that stuck out to me, like the unique hinge that pushed it off of the table and the side vents.
I mean this should be the highlight of how much worse the new lineup is. I own a 2022 G14 and I definitely do not like the hinge change. That's downright criminal to make it by that much worse. these look awesome and for the first time i really don't know which one to go for, on one hand the G14 is much lighter and nicer to carry around on a daily basis, on the other hand the G16 with the full size sd card slot will be great for photo editing and for light AI training with a 4080 and above, but the G16 starts at 2400€ where I live
Loving the video, wanted to leave here a comment for support and appreciation of the fact that Dave2D gave us 2 videos in a row, thank you I had a pretty good evening watching them! Also wanted to give my opinion about these laptops: for me, the g14 was always small, so I would definitely go with the g16. Saidly that the processor is not the most powerful, I would give up on thickness and make it slightly bigger so that it will fit and cool down properly the laptop. About ergonomics and design, they are awesome! I had a 2021 zephyrus m16, that had the same ergonomics as the old g16 and g14, and it had a massive problem! The problem was in the feaking hot air that was blowing on the screen! I immediately from the box had a broken device that had cooling issues, and that blew up my screen matrix so hard that after a couple of months of use, it started flickering and blicking, and after a while that was the reason why I switched to the newest 2023 Razer Blade. About the screen of this g14 and g16, I am not sure, I am tired of seeing companies using some risky technology like OLED, saying "Oh, no worries, we did all to make sure it will never break". And then if you get a semi-broken device, that is at first not really noticeable, like I got with my old m16, the weakest part of it will definitely be in danger, and after your warranty expires, the OLED, that is the weakest, could just break. But overall these are pretty cool devices, if I had not bought myself a Razer Blade I would probably look at these guys, because they are so clean and powerful!
WOW!! I have been using the gigabyte aero 15 OLED YD 12th gen for the past 3 years and have not seen a reason to upgrade-- It's a perfect mix of gaming, productivity, and portability. However, after seeing this laptop, this might definitely be my next upgrade! The biggest thing that always got me was not having a full size SD card reader which is essential for my workflow.
@@Pragos-vh7vo It's great!! It's a 4k oled panel and I haven't noticed any burning and I use it for video editing and gaming. It's an extremely sleek profile with powerful hardware.
@@aq_zhylan5345 nope! No burn in. I abuse it too! I don't take any special care and I leave it open with the screen on for days at a time. It's been really good, still my workhose for a video editing
It's a shame the G16 only has intel. Meteor lake reviews have been pretty mixed so far and the general theme seems to be ~on par with 7840, but at a $200/300 price premium. Would have loved a amd cpu + 4090
So glad to see your first impressions!! This is the second one I've seen. I've been hyped for the release of this one though, since I plan to buy one for college soon! I'm loving the new design as well, I'm hoping a black model is available in the US though, I'm loving the slash bar a lot more than the holes on the previous models. I wasn't expecting the switch to OLED displays, and I'm glad to hear the speakers, thermals, and fan noise have all improved! Sad how the fingerprint reader has been removed and the RAM is soldered now, though.
this is the most info packed into 7mins ive ever seen. When you look at the surface it seems like a summary but its actually not. you can pause 35x and still miss shit that is a huge deal. i like that stuff isnt drawn out its perfect.
Asus is really upping the game here! Always preferred laptops that could pack power yet stay minimal & sleek in design. Also, need those wallpapers! So good 🤩
I’ve spent this past month searching for literally any high end gaming laptop that has a clean design and an OLED display and then all of a sudden I’m blessed with this announcement. ASUS you have my money
I'm not a gammer, not even a casual one. I will never buy something like this, but I love watching your videos about gaming laptops/accessories. Have a nice one!
At a glance, this just seems better than Dell's XPS lineup (and Razer too I guess) and the FR graph seems pretty good. This may be the best Win laptop all around Edit: No replaceable ram (big oof) and prtscn (I'm a win + shift + s person 😏)
i actually miss the old design a lot. i get that it looks tacky, but i've always been a sci-fi guy and it looked cool, not to mention the anime matrix (granted you had to get one of the higher spec models which is insane). the new ones look clean-reminds me a lot of the macbook-but i personally want my gaming laptop to have a bit of gaming personality. some do overdo it (msi), but i thought the zephyrus was a nice medium.
Last year's ROG Strix SCAR 16 Mini-LED display is the best display I have ever laid my eyes on. I hope Asus keeps making gaming laptops with Mini-LED displays, because the brightness levels are far superior, and you don't have to worry about burn in.
I'm just trying to figure out why the 4050 and 4060 options still come with an unreasonably high resolution and refresh rate screen that they couldn't hope to run anything new on without reducing the internal resolution and making use of FSR/DLSS + frame generation software. Wouldn't it make more sense to reduce the resolution to 2K on those models?
Finally they managed to change the entire model. It added more aesthetics now that it is more sharpy. However, when are they gonna add the Asus RGB logo in the back as all companies do, for gods sake? It would of been a beast.
Don't buy it! I am the user of this laptop. There is a small black spot appeared on the screen one month after purchased. I went to the Royal Club and they said that the black spots and white spots are not covered by the warranty... This is already my third high-end ASUS laptop. . The first one was 4K laptop, the UX501vw. After bought less than two years, the mousepad dual-touch function was broken. This one was 1300USD ten years ago. The second one was zenbook UX392F, I bought it for less than two years and the motherboard had shuted down totally. The third one is Rog Zephyrus, I bought it for two months, and the international warranty included a total of more than 2200USD. There are small black spots on the screen. The Asus loyal club said this was not covered by the warranty and was a "yield" issue. Dear potential ASUS buyers, please do not use your hard-earned money to support a manufacturer with a worrying yield rate.
I just received the (2024) G14 with 4060. It plays everything I have thrown at it at highest levels without problems. Awesome screen with super slim bezels, comfortable RGB keyboard, thin and light.... It has exceeded my expectations. Initially, I didn't think I would like the silver with white keyboard but it's actually quite elegant.
a note G14 (AMD version ) doesn't have Thunderbolt support but it has USB 4 which can still support external peripherals such as external displays, etc
My 2021 G14 is still going strong and seems more than capable of handling anything I throw at it. These look like a neat evolution of that form factor. I'm curious how the light strip works, though. I currently use my laptop's AniMe Matrix to show the date and time.
I have the 2023 M16 4080 version and the thing that blows me away isn't the awesome Mini LED screen, but the friggin speakers. Slight tweaking with Dolby Access, I think they sound better than the macbook pro speakers. Def best in class sound. So good!
They took everything that made these laptops unique and made it into a MAC. I’m very curious how thermals are gonna be too. I keep good maintenance on my g14, clean fans regularly, and repaste the thermal paste, and it runs at max 85C on the cpu. It seems like it’s still easy to get into with these models, but damn, no ram upgrades. Hope this isn’t the start of the G14 loosing everything that made it unique and a solid MAC alternative that was upgradable and repairable.
Big trackpad with good tkl keyboard, speakers on the side (like the blade), good sound, slim elegant design not gamery, the amaizing 16:10 oled screen, and powerfull components! This G16 is the perfect lapot I waited for years! ❤
Yikes. This is a major step back for the G14. On the 2021 version that I currently use, one of the ram slots was swappable. It was also the last version of the Zephyrus G14 that had a print screen button. I really don't understand the purpose of replacing the Animatrix. That line just eliminates any option to customize. This is one of the worst upgrades for the Zephyrus G14 brand. Hard Pass
Im worried about the cooling setup only having exhaust at the back and none at the sides. Nonetheless awesome looking machines, might be my next laptop
@@user-pq4by2rq9y I was being generous with the 75 degrees, realistically it was never lower than 80 at any given time. I doubt the smaller chassis does the G14 any favors, but who knows. They refuse to put vents on the sides, back, or even the top. Pretty much ANYWHERE but the bottom, so it has garbage ventilation regardless of the fan amount.
Bought the first model of the G14 a long time ago and still amazing, but honestly, this new model is on another level.Looking forward to an upgrade when I can afford it
Mind the thermals. Minus 4mm thickness and removed hinge is an NB! moment. I think it's a leap backwards in terms of quality. Which is what they were planning I guess. And people will soon forget that and be content with an inferior product as if it's some sort of a generational leap forwards.
This is exactly the kind of gaming laptop I want. Solid build quality, clean design, and lots of power. Too bad I just spent my budget on a Zephyrus Duo 16 4K 😅
The g14 look slick! The downgraded tgp and gpu options is very infuriating though; i think ill stick to the last year unless they are holding off the RTX 4080 and 4090 for the Ryzen 8050 CPUs
The LTT video has an actual ASUS representative on-set -- apparently ASUS didn't see those top-end models selling well enough to justify refreshing the machine with anything higher than a 4070.
The white is nice but it looks more silver than white which makes the color difference from keys to case noticeable. The grey or almost black color looks more clean to me as it’s all the same color. Will definitely wait to see them in person first but leaning more towards the grey.
It really worse to be poor in a country that it's a struggle to survive everyday. I have wanted a G14 ever since the 1st edition Dave reviewed. You'll think a 4 year old laptop will be affordable in 2024 but when all you think of daily is food there is no room for anything. Can't afford a laptop can't afford a decent phone to be creative in seeking online opportunities.
If anything, asus really did nail the design. That diagonal strip is a really nice touch imo. This is what the masses want and more brands are starting to listen. Finally a clean, minimal looking gaming laptop. Ive been meaning to upgrade so this ones going on the radar for sure.
I always wanted g14 since 2022. Partly because cause that had amd CPU gpu combo. Kinda disappointed Asus left amd GPU for Nvidia one. The question is, which chip is better for battery? amd 8000 series or the Intel meteorlake one?
I have the original model G14 from 2020. Bought it just as inflation was a major thing, especially in the computer world.. this looks heavily refined. Pretty neat
About time other gaming laptop companies are going for the macbook-esque look instead of the plastic body of previous years. I love my razer blade 14, but these other ones are really tempting. I hope this continues to spread as the new popular design
Prefer the previous model look. The stripe is too aggressive. I like a more subtle and clean appearance. The real question in deciding to buy one of these are it's performance, battery life, and thermals. It's good they upgraded the speakers. G14 speakers are very mediocre.

these look awesome and for the first time i really don't know which one to go for, on one hand the G14 is much lighter and nicer to carry around on a daily basis, on the other hand the G16 with the full size sd card slot will be great for photo editing and for light AI training with a 4080 and above, but the G16 starts at 2400€ where I live
How is the oled screen?
@@Pragos-vh7vo It's great!! It's a 4k oled panel and I haven't noticed any burning and I use it for video editing and gaming. It's an extremely sleek profile with powerful hardware.
So is your screen ok? Didn’t it get any burnings?
@@aq_zhylan5345 nope! No burn in. I abuse it too! I don't take any special care and I leave it open with the screen on for days at a time. It's been really good, still my workhose for a video editing
@@aq_zhylan5345 nope, nothing that's noticeable
It's a shame the G16 only has intel. Meteor lake reviews have been pretty mixed so far and the general theme seems to be ~on par with 7840, but at a $200/300 price premium. Would have loved a amd cpu + 4090
I like that they moved into a sleekier and thinner disgn but I hate the led strip and I prefer the old design even though it's bolkier
Sad how the fingerprint reader has been removed and the RAM is soldered now, though.
how do you know thermals are better?
@@ThanhAnLe287 That's just what I heard from Matt Moniz's review.
This is exciting, need to get hands on for comparison. The 14" in silver is gorgeous.
this is the most info packed into 7mins ive ever seen. When you look at the surface it seems like a summary but its actually not. you can pause 35x and still miss shit that is a huge deal. i like that stuff isnt drawn out its perfect.
I love how small 16 inch laptops are getting. I really, really want the G14 mostly for the size but that G16 isn't that much bigger.
I have been commenting and advising dave about darkness in room and difficult to see his content. This video is really a great improvement. Loved it❤
Asus is really upping the game here! Always preferred laptops that could pack power yet stay minimal & sleek in design.
Also, need those wallpapers! So good 🤩
Looks really good! I have an original version G14 I still use today. Happy to see all the progress
Oh wow, those are pretty cool designs! I like them much more than the previous iterations.
Every time a new Zephyrus laptop comes out it exceeds the expectations
I’ve spent this past month searching for literally any high end gaming laptop that has a clean design and an OLED display and then all of a sudden I’m blessed with this announcement. ASUS you have my money
I would also consider the Lenovo Legion 5 slim 14.
@@DanielKennedyaeos Nah, I'm looking for a 16" with a 4090. So exactly this.
Very nice :) Personally I was already planning on getting the G14 for college, but this would be even better assuming the prices are reasonable
I'm not a gammer, not even a casual one. I will never buy something like this, but I love watching your videos about gaming laptops/accessories. Have a nice one!
5:30 NO REPLACEABLE RAM YIKES
Having used a white first gen G14, it's exciting to see how ASUS topped the Zephyrus aesthetic!
At a glance, this just seems better than Dell's XPS lineup (and Razer too I guess) and the FR graph seems pretty good. This may be the best Win laptop all around
Edit: No replaceable ram (big oof) and prtscn (I'm a win + shift + s person 😏)
Those laptops are classy as heck! Packed in a more professional looking package while still have those subtle gaming laptop flair. Well done Asus!
i actually miss the old design a lot. i get that it looks tacky, but i've always been a sci-fi guy and it looked cool, not to mention the anime matrix (granted you had to get one of the higher spec models which is insane). the new ones look clean-reminds me a lot of the macbook-but i personally want my gaming laptop to have a bit of gaming personality. some do overdo it (msi), but i thought the zephyrus was a nice medium.
Try again after Gamer Nexus meeting with asus they seem to improve.
You may be able to claim warranty.
Which zephyrus. I had my 2021 g14 (GA401qm) for 3 years and there are no issues. Amazing laptop
@@developertips2607thank I wanna buy next month but I like M16 2022
@@developertips2607 Same, runs amazingly well.
1:50 Lol I love the amount cursor OCD here. Your clean taste and style is clearly a part of your entire being, not just your tech.
a note G14 (AMD version ) doesn't have Thunderbolt support but it has USB 4 which can still support external peripherals such as external displays, etc
I myself own the 2021 G14 and the design is already simple and mostly elegant but man ASUS stepped it up with this year's models
im curious about the thermals, seems like the new laptops have alot less side venting than previous years
Big trackpad with good tkl keyboard, speakers on the side (like the blade), good sound, slim elegant design not gamery, the amaizing 16:10 oled screen, and powerfull components!
Hard Pass
mind you, most people didn't get the animatrix display, so it probably made no sense to keep that design
You can either get swappable ram or a third fan.
@jesusbarrera6916 they should've at least kept the reflective rainbow look
@@AltraHapi no
My GOAT dropping back to back bangers, I might just cry 😭
Im worried about the cooling setup only having exhaust at the back and none at the sides. Nonetheless awesome looking machines, might be my next laptop
Their “revolutionary cooling system” doesn’t do jack 💀 I watched an unboxing video that showed the active temps & it was never lower than 75 degrees.
@@nok3251totally fine with 75 ºc under load.
the g14 now has a third fan so it's probably a little better.
Yes FINALLYYYYY they got rid of that stupid matrix light thing on the lid.
Seeing this I wish I was born later.
Would have loved to get this for my study, beautiful laptop and the specs these days are crazy. Love it
ASUS always finds a way to surprise and top themselfs. Insane company. They deserve way more recognition and accolades.
This is exactly the kind of gaming laptop I want. Solid build quality, clean design, and lots of power. Too bad I just spent my budget on a Zephyrus Duo 16 4K 😅
I like the old design better and the old one has upgradable RAM.
It’s a shame they’re stepping back on upgradeability.
I have consistently loved the G14 year on year everytime they've refreshed it, this one got me droolin'
No one actually bought 80 and 90 series GPU in G14 models other than whiners online.
If the 16 inch coming with that silver color and IPS LCD panel, I am getting one for sure. Cant wait.

Dave, LOVE, JUST LOVE. I am with you on the WHITE G16. With speakers you already have, WOW. It is as though the speakers were waiting for this laptop.
As usual, no print screen button being its Achilles heel again. Keep up the good fight Dave!
g14 without vapor chamber make more hotter than last year
such a lot of detailed descriptions in a little amount of time, great video!
Woke up and found out dave uploaded two new videos. Perfect start of the day.
G14s and G16s all grown up! Look SOOO good and clean.
Always excited to see dedicated volume buttons!
I have the original model G14 from 2020. Bought it just as inflation was a major thing, especially in the computer world.. this looks heavily refined. Pretty neat
The white with a leather skin on top is going to be beautiful. Also I’m kinda glad I waited on picking up a m3 MacBook now🙏
Dang! Never seen a gaming laptop this clean.
About time other gaming laptop companies are going for the macbook-esque look instead of the plastic body of previous years. I love my razer blade 14, but these other ones are really tempting. I hope this continues to spread as the new popular design
Hot dang, I just bought my G14 2022 a few months ago and it's still a beast. These were exactly what I was looking for. Razer-ish finesse.
Thankssss for the audio chart, that was what I was looking for 🎉
Dave lowkey flexing his awesome typing skills 😭
This design is like the 30 Serie ROG cards its just clean asf.
Great to see Asus catching up with the Lenovo Legion 5 Slim 14 from last year for twice the price... but in WHITE!
Expected Dave to go fanboy the moment I saw a thumbnail on my feed 😂 can’t wait for the full review to hear how it performs
Prefer the previous model look. The stripe is too aggressive. I like a more subtle and clean appearance.
The real question in deciding to buy one of these are it's performance, battery life, and thermals.
It's good they upgraded the speakers. G14 speakers are very mediocre.
Another thing for OLED is the pixel response time is much faster than lcd. The pixel being self emissive means it near instantly changes.
Finally at last a well made laptop with decent speakers. Great review thanks for covering the audio.
This is the dream laptop for me. Gaming specs, fully aluminium build, large trackpad, and affordable price.
Finally 🎉 slick robust metal like a Mac, glass finished screen, Intel chip full size SD, dream laptops, can't wait to c new m16
I would really love to have a bigger version of these: an 18 inch model with 160 watt gpu and upgradable ram, 3 ssd slots etc.
