You don't need to buy current gen laptop. Last gen laptop would suffice for most of your gaming need. People tend to not have an idea what they want from the laptop gaming.
Nope. You're wrong. I *need* to buy a new laptop since the one I'm using is over 6 years old, runs maximum 5 seconds off of the battery and partialy held together by ducttape. I appreciate the sentiment but no... it is time.
I got the Lenovo Legion pro 7i that came out last year. 150-175 watts on the RTX 4080 with dynamic boost, 13th Gen i9 HX, 240 hz, 32gb ram... thing is a beast. Build quality is awesome, love the typing experience. I travel to a new city every 2 weeks or so with my job so I needed something semi-tanky. I create music with FL studio, Edit Video with Sony Vegas, Play games like Valorant/Overwatch, Elden Ring, Witcher, and Modded Skyrim. Researched for 2 months to make the right choice and after a year+ of use, I'm still in love.

thank you SO MUCH for making such a clear and noob-friendly video about all the wattage nonsense (to me) and comparisons! As a gamer from the 80's, I'm so behind on all of these spec numbers. You're awesome.
You can partly lay the blame on Nvidia for artificially limiting their GPUs based on the TGP. Heck, even the maximum TGP can be misleading becoz the performance was usually maxxed out around 100 watt for the 4050 to 4070 line.
This was very informative! Really like the format of just doing a brief overview of all the main brands since there is mainly just iterative updates every year now. And when there is something actually new and worth talking about, that could have a more in depth look and video.
