Ahhh.. Good ol N54 maintenance
Good to see you here man! Watched a bunch of your 335i stuff 👌🏼
haha good luck completing all the service jobs before you die
Its mad how much Hamzas progressed in terms of getting his hands dirty working on the cars
Another quick vid brilliant work Hamza. .. Defo getting sharper and more productive keep it up mate
Thank you mate 👍🏼
as a bmw tech myself im so happy that a DIY'er is doing all the repairs the proper way
As a 335i N54 owner...this is one of the most satisfying videos I have watched...keep them coming!
Because of this video I bought my quickjack, changed my three coolant hoses, oil cooler/filter gasket, changed the serpentine belt, changed the oil and coolant. Never wrenched on a car but somehow this man convinced me to do it. And now it’s done.
2009 e93 335i owner here. ARM charge pipe, tial BOV, ARM catless downpipes, wagner 5in stepped intercooler, MHD stage 2+. Love the car, keep those wheels, they're my favorite on our cars. Hindsight is 20/20 but you should've gone ahead with the NGK step 1 colder plugs if you're planning to tune past stage 1.
Your content is so relatable, and that’s why I subbed. Keep up the good work mate💪🏾
Love what you been making recently
Glad to hear you’re enjoying the recent stuff man 👌🏼
Amazing to see you. Getting hands on with the cars bro come a long way and that's what makes the channel so appealing to enthusiasts. You started with reviews but can see the way you branched out.
Thank you bro 🙏🏼
Are you an ex-mechanic? Or you just learnt as a hobby? Either way - impressive knowledge!
Thanks man! And no just learning as I go along really, just love researching parts/how to change bits
@@TRHamza That's awesome. I don't have the balls to open an engine up but at least I can watch you do it instead 😂
@@milinddixit6583 if you own a bmw go for it, they are so easy to work on and plenty of diy's on RUclips
@@bigash_n54 I forget where all the different bolts go and end up with spare ones at the end.
@@kryptoniteee take pictures of every single step, that way you can go ahead and take a look at the pictures. This Trick saved me a lot of time ✌🏻
I’ve got a 130i with the n52 if you’d like to meet up sometime and compare them that would be pretty awesome as they have many similarities
Just waiting for him to do all the Stage 2 mods, then drop a video right after saying he's going with a big single. It's inevitable.
😂 Gotta experience the twin life first!
Actually love how it’s a SE spec and not an M Sport. Proper Q car
What’s a Q car
@@phiIipt a sleeper
The fact that there was some strange bolt on the corner of the Valve cover is totally a sign that this was not done right or was just removed and replaced incorrectly. This would cause the troubles of the oil in the spark plugs for sure. Great job!
You bought a BMW with the infamous N54!
Be ready to fork out some serious cash!
I had a 135i with that engine and boy it was fast, but damn my whole savings went into it to keep it running🤣
Good start, a couple of other maintenance bits I’d do is get the valves walnut blasted then put an oil catch can on it. Upgrade the charge pipe, get rid of the panel air filter for dual cones, then intercooler, de cat down pipes then finally a tune
Excellent video, I just stumbled across your channel, & have had my N54 just a year. Done belt, tensioner, top hose, coolant flange (Mickey mouse) upgrade from plastic to aluminium. Pcv valve upgrade to aluminium, spark plugs, oil, filter, gearbox oil. Power steering fluid change as I have a buzzing sound from power steering pump (checked with stethoscope) that makes a wurring sound as you press the gas. Not very louder, can just hear at high revs in 1st & 2nd. Steering is fine, with no noises, so can only be pump bearing, but car only on 26k miles.
Do the gearbox oil mate makes a huge huge huge difference you want bmw mtf-lt2 or 75w80 Gl4 do the diff too that’s 75w90 make sure you get correct one depending if you have an lsd or not
Will check it out mate!
Yep agree with this. And don't do what I did and try be flash with fancy oils. Go with LT2 (or whatever your gearbox label has written on it).
I ran fancy oil for about 20 miles before taking it back out 😂
@@RobOnMotors yeah I couldn’t get lt2 so used gl4 75w80
Nearly 130k subscribers and still making regular relevant content. Fantastic !
That noise coming from the engine might be the waterpump so I'd suggest doing that and thermostat too aswell as the timing chain tensioner. After it's been sitting a while on cold start you can hear the tensioner rattle then go away once oil pressure has built up in it. Oil leak under the car looks like rear main seal between engine and gearbox, hopefully it isn't that and its just from the old rocker cover dripping down. Nice video, M539 would be proud
Water pump definitely on the list soon, will get all the maintenance done bit by bit! Thanks for the tips man 👍🏼
@@TRHamza yeah just preventative maintenance esp if there's no history of it being done, weak points on these engines.
If the water pump goes you will hear it try to kick in and then it will go quiet - not long after you will get the ‘Engine Overheated’ notification on I drive. Then when you plug it In you will get the codes illustrating ‘Water Pump’ failed.
You don’t understand how fast I just clicked when I saw this on my feed
As a N54 Owner I really appreciate these videos
Keep up the regular uploads now to tune into this one
Plenty to come 🤞🏼
@@TRHamza if I can suggest maybe one day in future restore something old mark 1 golf (has its my favourite car) but keep it up man ur doing perfect
@@BobMarley-cq5un Would be cool when I have indoor unit/garage space for something like that!
@@TRHamza 100 percent next thing should be a unit.. I'm a big fan of matt Armstrong.. ur exactly the same started.off on driveways Gardens etc then on up 2 units etc big up ur self
I don't have a BMW... But I felt the need to watch this whole vid.
And I'm looking forward to the next installment! Keep up the decent content man 👌
Odd request but any chance the budget allows for an audio upgrade for this car? BMWs that don’t come with hk have some very poor audio and might be something of interest to quite a few people. Just a thought. Would be nice to see though. Thanks for the vids and keep up the good work.
Thank you, and maybe as part of an interior upgrades video, I’ll have to cost it up first!
Hats of to you for doing the job properly with decent parts from the outset!
Great engines, when they were new or have been maintained correctly. Not worse than many other BMW engine designs. Great to see that someone gives one with higher mileage a go!
No wonder dealer servicing is so expensive. It takes longer to get at 'service items' than to change them... doh!
Great Video, really well put together - well done.
Must be frustrating for the mechanics too. Dismantling all of that ghastly plastic....
almost a good thing the junction hose (top radiator) went, mine literally split in half where it connects to the oil filter housing, yours would have gone eventually too. There's also a mickey mouse flange coming out of the cylinder head which you can replace with a metal one, definitely do that as well
keep up the good work bro loving the videos💯
Thank you bro 👊🏼
Really look forward to watching your video's, and much congratulate you on your growing presentation, mechanical and editing skills - please keep them coming!!
Great editing, flows so smooth keeps viewers interested, great content well done
Thank you! 👍🏼
Noticed a decent amount of oil down the front of the engine, make sure to get both the Oil Filter Housing Gasket and Oil Cooler Housing Gasket done soon!
I really like this new style of video where you get your hands dirty like the rest of us home mechanics! Keep up the great work!
Top vid bro , I love my e93 335i sport,manual, stock , 57, what a beast 💪🏻bro,I'm loving this content 👌
Thank you bro 👌🏼 Great cars!
Your going to be spending a lot more time under that bonnet mate haha! If you do the maps in stages the car totally changes! Mhd maps are good!
Impressed by the mechanical skills....!
I think the 335i has so much potential. The block itself is very strong and with a single turbo conversion can easily take 700hp+ just need to rip out and replace everything around the engine which causes these cars so many issues
just subbed after finding the channel.informative and well put together.
you know you’re watching a TR Hamza video when he mentions MK5’s😂😂 no but love your work bro👌
Love your easy going, slightly roguish manner! Fun content too!
I can see the improvement in your production values. Keep up the good work!
You can get repair instructions in ista. Should be under repair and maintenance tab and then just select the component group
100% can't wait to see you get a salvage R8 and see that rebuild. Deffo going to happen for you
10.58 - thats my paper. was thinking where it had gone!
Thanks for doing these types of videos, always been wary of these but it’s nice to see that I could actually fix these general problems my self!
I think you should make a reaction vid to the new rs3 would be sick to see you get hyped 😂
Fair play, Hamza, you don't mind getting your hands dirty ✌
Yo Hamza, wheres all your old videos gone? I haven't watched your channel in a while. Have I missed something? Last time I saw a video was when you had your accident.
I love the fact you explain what your doing/fixing! Maa sha allah! May allah bless with you success akhi! Ameen 🙏
We need more of this getting ur hands dirty content, smashing it
Enjoyed this bro, get some work mats when working on cars underneath, catches the mess and saves your knees and elbows.
Make sure you use the NGK spark plugs and not the Bosch. Side by side they are made to quite different specs. Only the NGK is correct.
Don't forget the oil cooler housing gasket. Common fault and that's what slips the Serpentine belt. You showed plenty of oil on the front of the block so that's likely failed also
Man after looking the underbody of your car, its a day and night compared to my e92. You definitely need a wash down there😂😂
Ticking noise sounds like the distributor bro
I would change that cracked coolant hose connector with an upgraded aluminium one. They get brittle and snap again so OEM will go again eventually
If you think you've lost it with the N54, try the N43. And after everything you've spent, it still doesn't go anywhere with 99sec to 100 and looks the same.
I'd love to get this much knowledge in the near future great stuff mate
Great hands on vid! Just FYI all E92 335s came with M Sport suspension, including the SEs.
I suddenly feel like I should do some bits of maintenance on mine now 😄
my man, you need to do the same with some e92 335d....and then compare them! and race them....would be cool
Mechanic hamza one legendary guy
That noise at 3:57 sounds like a printer, probably printing out all the error codes
Watching your video is the only happiness i had today. Unfortunately i broke my bumper today so thats gonna be quite a bill for me :(
Fair play bro, very informative, enjoy the weekly videos. Cant wait to see the progress in the next one
Loved the video bro, very informative and engaging 👍
Thank you bro 👌🏼
It's crazy how many different parts there are to make a car work.
Fingers crossed you haven't got a leaking rear main seal. Seeing as it's super wet round there. It's a common problem but usually on high mileage engines.
Would check the top of the backboxes for weld marks it may have had PE mod done. If it's not I would recommend it.
Please get the M Sport bumpers for it and maybe do a clean sleeper build 👀
Aren’t M Sport bumpers the opposite of a clean sleeper build 😂
@@TRHamza LOL Sorry about that 😂😂😂😂 my bad
That rattle is most likely a disa valve also smoke is your rocker gasket
And that's the reason I love RUclips right there 👌
That noise sounds either link a pulley, tensioner or a fan clutch…but I could be wrong..
Fair play for having a crack at it! Looking forward to seeing how this one goes.
I had problems with my belt fraying badly on my N54. Replaced twice by garage. I decided to do it myself the third time and discovered that the plastic power steering pulley was so damaged that at one point less than half of the pulley surface was there. (A common problem.) I replaced it with an aluminium one, which was about $50. I’d recommend anyone to do this when changing the belt, or even earlier.
10:38 - me after contributing absolutely zero percent during a group project
The SE spec 335d/i cars had grey lower grilles to differentiate them, they were like that from new. No idea why they did this...
Far more enjoyable when you do the work yourself IMO. Liking the recent DIY vids 🙏
I'm sure the UK is the same, but every 335i I've encountered in the Eastern US has been "ragged-out"... Good luck!
Bro youre gonna want to change out them bosch plugs for some B58 ones, once you push stage 2 youll be misfiring for sure. Put in a reg for M140 at ECP and get some NGK B58 Plugs
That thing looks pretty clean overall for an auction car.
Welcome to the N54 fam bro! Should definitely arrange a meet and we can bring our bruised up money pits
Hi mate good video really enjoyed watching. Just wondered what you do for work ? You seem very knowledgeable within the car scene and I'm guessing RUclips ain't the only thing you do 👍🏻
Looks surprisingly good on the outside though
Brilliant Video, would have gone for the Motul Xclean oil, and the ngk lower heat grade plug. Good luck
Hamza is like an older bro
You need to put sealant around the rocker cover gasket or it'll leak again.
i think the smoke is probably coming from oil dripping onto the heat shield on the steering rack. got an n52 e92 and it smoked from exactly the same place.
Ffs, 1st step disassemble whole engine 😂😂 making me question changing from my mk5 gti to a 335i now😂
Nice work. Its actually a solid buy 👍
loving this content, can't wait for more!
Never been this early, been looking forward to this!
I wish I had as much knowledge about all this stuff as you Hamza 😂
It may have already swallowed a belt. My brother in low lost an engine like that. And he complained of noise similar to that
Bro when you opening a garage up😂 i'll come to you. Top vid!
Nice video hamza! Would recommend you doing an oil change with the engine warm. Where did you get that car jack btw? 😳😳😨😍
Hi, great vid!
What car stands are you using?
Could you post a link to them please
the noise from the front, oil filter housing is it? possible gasket leak? not followed you for a couple of years, see your getting your hands dirty nowadays :P looking forward to seeing more on this!
i wish i could buy my next car from you, it's very apparent u take top notch care of them lol
