I worked on these when they were brand new, I was an apprentice back then. Remember being passenger in a German prototype car. Blown away with the noise and performance back in 2004! Still 1 of my favourite engine sounds.

Fuel injectors is one thing I haven't really heard to be an issue. You wanted to do some serious preventative maintenance, while you had the top apart, you should have thought about the idle control valves and throttle actuators. Do yourself a favor, flush trans fluid, coolant [dual type radiator], diff, PS fluid, brake fluid, etc, on and on. unless you have the machine you can't flush the SMG, but you can do all the others. Unless you know the previous owner real well, check the rod bearings, previous owners can be real dense about proper oil and change intervals. If you check the rod bearings, go ahead and change the High pressure vanos oil line as well..I have two of these, they are excellent cars if proper maintenance is done

Since the golf gti 1 series happy you've moved onto a v10 to learn and teach others it's not impossible to work on their own cars.
Good lad. I just bought m3 e92. These M5s are nowhere near as unreliable as ppl say. £3k and you can fix all the engine issues. I've had 2 of these when they were new. 12mpg. A tank a day. Good Times.
Nice addition & a beautiful spec, be good to see the upcoming content on this as they’ve earned a bad rep over the years which was mostly down to owners not looking after them correctly, keep it coming 👊🏻
Another great video and obviously a Great car Alhamdulilah, loving it! I drove a LCI E60 M5 a few years ago and in the M mode these things are an absolute savage car. The noise and just the whole feel is great.
Braver than me doing the maintenance on it bro, I would end up getting frustrated and breaking something lol!

Big man car. 2008 is the best year because it’s got the upgraded oil pump in it. King of the road. EVOLVE headers, EVENTURI intake, stage 2 ECU software 570BHP.

Bro just replace the vanos system as a precaution and apart from vanos failure these cars are good just service every 3000 miles.
Looks clean bro I think it's amazing
vanos failure is uncommon on these. being an lci means it has the modified vanos oil line (as do most 2006 on cars). it's not something to worry about. valve spring failure is more common and that's not that common either.
@@TheM5Dog thanks for correcting me I've owned 6 e60 2 m5 I 535d 3 530d and a few 1 series and 3 series over the years and and from 2004 right up until 2015 vanos failure on bmws has been a ball ache it was also on bbc watchdog for the same thing. but vanos failure was is very common on bmw' from that era had vanos problem and timing chains snapping especially e60 m5. But I'm not saying or debating that you information is incorrect. I'm also a BMW enthusiast I own m340d.
@@eithnaankhan8943 I've never heard of a timing chain snapping on an S85. The pump can fail but it's very rare, and if it does then it's likely down to poor maintenance. Valve spring failure is more common, and that is very uncommon itself.
@@TheM5Dog agreed you may of not heard of it honestly it's very common and ilgo be honest I was wrong when I said snapping it's not just snapping in most cases stretching and timing issues I've had alot of bad luck over the years who ever I spoke to agreed similar issues with their cars at car meets but I'm no mechanic or engineer I've just had my fair share of vanos issues with the e60s in particular

Get the bearings & stuff looked at like Mike from Drivetribe - will increase longevity
Same here i just got myself m5 e60 06 plate only 50k miles on it but its been sat for couple years due to faulty ELV now i got to it finally haha still haven't heard it run but getting mapper to bypass the elv and then will do the rod bearings an stuff.

Best car you've ever bought bro well done, a true legendary car and once modified (exhaust and Eventuri intakes is all you need!).
Once warmed up just drive it like you stole it, manual S5 or S6 setting and have one of the best driving experiences ever.

There is a difference when you put BMW parts, especially on specific items like injectors. Even side-by-side comparison shows obvious differences. BMWs don't really like non original parts unfortunately.

when you work with fuel is better to use tech vaselin cuz is not mixing with petrol like silicon spray ;)
