"that's fine, that's cool" - Anthony seeing best new artist going to Ed Sheeran in 2024
Surprised you have heard of him, he’s pretty underground.
@MUSIC, MOVIES SPORTS, & BOOKS I still can't believe Lil Nus Nus didn't win
great comment
Lmfao
seeing glass animals and Japanese breakfast in that category in 2022 is genuinely hilarious
Can't believe Anthony won all of the Grammys, a true artist.
21 and jaded
I didnt think Logic was up for any nominations. Must have been write-ins
Did he really have to talk all that trash about the other artists though? Smh Melon
cal was snubbed as usual😒
Anthony Linus tech tips :D ?
Can’t believe Fantano just glanced over the monumental Grammy win for Meta knights revenge from Kirby Superstar, really kicking down the small guys.
I thought you were joking holy shit that’s the greatest thing I’ve ever seen
ngl whole reason I clicked on this video was to see Fantano's reaction to that....
Meta Knight has more Grammys than Youngboy
Kirby's on such a W roll this year it legit makes me happy
@@klctht6606 Feeling this year as Kirby year. Well deserved, it's been 30 years of kirb.
Given the other nominees I’m very surprised Ok Human wasn’t nominated for best rock or alternative album
maybe in another world 😪
Only in dreams
That album was mid

And waiting on a war over all my favorite songs? Like the Foo Fighters have some good stuff and rip Taylor Hawkins but all my favorite songs was great
2017: Ain’t nobody praying for me 😔
2022: Anthony is praying for me 😌
So reassuring
DAMN.
Way yah yah
@@g-wiz2953 Stop, it's perfect.
You fools!
Who’s ready to hear freedom by Jon batiste in a Toyota commercial where they try to convince you that they respect black culture
Dead 💀
🤣😭😭 omg not the Toyota commercial
It was on a Gap commercial during the Grammys
He also already performed at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
I hate to say it but you're right. Already started hearing it in commercials
"Best New Artist" -Glass Animals on the list, who have been a band since 2010
“They’re new because they only just got REALLY really popular.” - Grammy Awards Committee logic
Also Arooj which she has 3 albums released already
The only thing I'm pissed about is Turnstile or Little Simz not being nominated
Simz would've probably needed a lot of Top 40 airplay stateside during the time that album dropped to get considered, and it was right around the deadline. I think the Grammys had no idea about its critical impact.
@@SomeSong2 it’s unfortunate that she is unlikely to receive the critical acclaim she deserves in the states because her music doesn’t appeal to an American audience as much, meaning she won’t top charts in the us
At least Little Simz won at the BRITs
Not 100% sure but she might not have made the deadline for this year
yea fr. i’m super upset abt simz, especially when drake ABSOLUTELY shouldn’t have been nominated because critics and fans hated that album, but i think turnstile is a bigger issue. they nominated foo fighters, deftones, and fucking AC/DC for the rock category this year. AC/DC in 2022!! why not give it to (or at least nominate) some great modern rock acts like turnstile, yves tumor, black midi, or jean dawson? idk, i think the rock nominee are lame.
It's so funny to me that Trent Reznor won a Grammy for screaming "FIST FUCK" and then won a Grammy for scoring a Disney movie 😂
guy's got range!
He’s got serious variation
I agree. I am a fan of his work but the contrasts between his music and collaboration with Disney is so polar opposites, it makes me feel weirded out.
Still good soundtrack nonetheless.
@@ishall9956 I mean, he and Atticus Ross are excellent musicians and composers in their own right. Their magnum opus, the soundtrack for The Social Network (2010) is perhaps one of their best.
@@rickardkaufman3988 TBH, watching the movie alone really elevated the experience. Revolutionary itself knowing how much we get this type of sound in movies anyways.
Silk Sonic deserve every accolade
they missed the deadline
Silk Sonic slightly overrated
I think another song besides Leave The Door Open should have won SOTY
@@jerrys1 The hype kinda died down a bit, but it's still a good project
Agreed pure class
watching grammys
Melon: AOTY Jon Batiste not a bad pick
Also Melon: Didn't even review the album.
exactly
so in order for the picks to be valid, he must review them first?
@ghost mall mad respect for that. A lot of people are trashing it, but I appreciate that you can see the work and talent put into it even if it isn’t for you
@ghost mall maybe the issue is that he is exceptionally skilled yet not particularly innovative, kinda like jacob collier. It does make me happy that someone is bringing back that classic sound though, r&b post 1980 is mid
The amount of credits on Donda is insane
I love that CMIYGL won, but Kanye slapping Tyler because “homosexuality is not christlike” was shocking to say the least
He just doesn't like people that have that kind of phonetic as their name
Taylor x Tyler collab incoming
i get that this is a joke (good one too dw) bc fantano comments are hella shitposty but kanye was one of the first people to advocate for lgbtq+ rights in hip hop and i hate when people act otherwise ☹️ shit ton of respect for that frfr
@@bornunderpunches yeah kanye is very open minded especially for a Christian. He is also very supportive of caitlyn Jenner but it is kinda funny to imagine lol
@@mikaahoni1097 facts, i of course don't believe that all religious people are homophobic but it's nice to see someone be both openly christian and lgbtq+ supportive
like you said, still is a funny ass scenario too
I just realized that if Justin Bieber were to win the Best Album award, MLK would have technically become a Grammy winner.
Martin Luther King?
Please 😭🙏🏽
@@arnaviyengar5404 yes
Also, a cover of Meta Knight's Revenge won a Grammy for Best Arrangement!
A friends showed me that!! It’s so dope
I think Smokin Out The Window is better than Leave The Door Open but I’m not complaining
Smokin Out The Window wasn’t eligible at the time of release but ye I’m with ya
How did Jon Batiste win Best Album but not Best R&B album? This makes literally no sense.
Thank you, I thought the same thing. It took me back to when Taylor Swift won best female video at the VMA's but then Beyonce won video of the year.
Yeah I don’t get that either
Passion surrounding Jazmine's album and it not being a pure R&B record, I assume.
@@alexolds9840 then why was it nominated as an R&B album?
@@matthewhewitt4145 They could see it as being a better overall album than others, but not as good an example of *R&B* as someone else. I believe the genre categories require at least 51% of the album to belong to that genre. So, if We Are was 60% R&B (I haven’t heard it, so I don’t know), it would qualify for an R&B album nomination. But, there could be others that are *more* R&B, but not as good, overall.
CMIYGL deserved the win, glad it got it
Man just won a Grammy for a mixtape
@@ttarkus what do you mean?
@@pigmafia DJ Drama is known for them mixtapes. It was a joke but seems nobody got it lol
No
My favorite part was when ridge got the Grammy for wallet of the year.
And that’s all you need to know
with last years work, jack antonoff is on his way to become the rick rubin of alternative rock. i dig it.
Anthony praying I’m doing well while I’m at home with food poisoning shitting myself constantly really helps me through the misery I’m in thank u melon-man🙏
Absolute love the state of rock and metal music. Nothing like seeing 30 year old bands and not a single newer or relevant band like bmth (who have still been around for almost 20)
the real highlight for me was Arooj Aftab winning one. She's amazing! Mohabbat is such a great track and I hope it will bring more people to listen to Vulture Prince. One of the best records from last year imo
She's also the first Pakistani to win a Grammy which makes me happy because a couple of years ago the music scene here was nearly dead and in the last couple of years have had an insane revival.

She won all last year. She doesn’t need more Grammys for now.
@@SwagMaster824 except her debut was garbage unoriginal trap, happier than ever had some complexity and variety and was generally gorgeous
The Grammys got it mostly right this year, and nobody even noticed that they happened.
They're gonna go back to picking the worst possible winners to get those controversy clicks next year. ☹️
That’s what I was thinking. The only pick that had me raising my eyebrows was aoty, but even that was fine
@@zacharywoloszynski4258 Same, I thought it was hilarious that Jon had the same WTF look I had when his name was announced😂
@@zacharywoloszynski4258 woah video of the year was wrong it should of went to Montero
Best reggae album was questionable too
im gonna have to disagree with you here, thanks to the slap this is probably going to be one of the most memorabel grammy's ever. Unfortunately its not for the music though
Don’t forget the fact that Don Cheadle beat Barack Obama for ‘Best Spoken Word Album’
The Grammy's: Doesn't nominate the Weeknd for their 2021 ceremony.
Also The Grammy's: Gives co-Grammy to the Weeknd for being featured in a Ye song.
A lot of great songs, artists and albums were overlooked during nominations, but given the nominees, I'm pretty happy with most of the winners. Jon Batiste and Silk Sonic both being recognized with multiple awards was very well-deserved. Seriously thought Olivia would sweep up at least 5/7 nominations including album and song of the year, but very happy with the results the way they are.
Jon Batiste’s music is so boring and generic
@@BigOwl51 you obviously have 0 knowledge and taste about music
@@BigOwl51 you obviously have 0 knowledge and taste about music
Most important winner of the night was Meta Knight
couldn't agree more
Anthony the whole video: “That’s fine, that’s cool”
Gets to the Rap categories
*This is where the fun begins*
The best part of the Grammys was when the Grammy people were like
“The Grammys, brought to you buy the good people over at The Ridge Wallets”
MONTERO DESERVED MUSIC VIDEO OF THE YEAR...that's it
I don’t know what it is was but Anthony sold me on that Chris Stapleton album when it dropped and it really is that good. And I’m not really a country person at all normally, but it really surprised me in terms of variety. An incredibly heartfelt tribute to his dog is a personal favorite of mine. As well as a really fiery track about the 2017 Las Vegas shooting
Same. That Chris Stapleton album single handedly turned me on to country music. His voice is incredible and the song writing is impeccable.
yeeeesss I love Chris Stapleton, my mom put me on lol
Once again, the Grammys were not pushing 🅿️ this year
I never even watched the shit and never plan too.
Fr. They prefer the sweet as cotton candy rappers instead of the real street sh1t
They weren’t bad this year imo.
That rock and metal category was a mess. Seriously did their brains just stop at 2005? Where are the new artists?!
Honestly, the 2020 noms were much better...
We got Haim, Phoebe, and Fiona in one nomination, three acts that won many critics' heart at that year
The metal one also have quite some interesting acts in the mix like Code Orange and Poppy
Now it's just bunch of old acts that already thrives for like... a decade ago or something, not that I hate them but..... really????
They should value more new artists and innovator than crediting old acts just because they want to give some "credit" (the very shallow kind of credit, to be exact)
Like, they are already well known at this point, they don't need a grammy anymore

Tyler won 2 times in a row 💕👏
happy to see olivia win, well deserved she had a great year
yeah she was the queen in 2021
Love you Fantano. Do a review on Ghanaian artists ❤️
Ghanaian rap is some gas🤞
Happy for jazmine Sullivan
Geezus look at the amount of people producers, engineers, mixers on Bieber and Ye’s Album especially compared to Billie Eilish
Happy to see Bo come away with a win, especially after him being barred from the comedy category
Best of all he wasn't even there he was just sitting at home watching the ceremony and found out that way lol
The fact they gave it to Louis made me throw up in my mouth a bit.
Still have no clue how he couldn't be nominated for comedy like what the fuck else would it be?
He’d probably have won Comedy album, but you have to award the privileged and corrupt at some point.
@@TrebleStarcrush didnt even nominate him, there was a whole debacle that they didn't consider Inside a comedy album
kinda sad montero didnt get best video
I'm ok with most of these but damn the Cody Fry snub hurts the most. that Eleanor Rigby arrangement is some of the best musical writing i've literally ever heard.
Would’ve loved to hear you do your homework on the country category more. Blowing right back Skeltons and the Marfa Tapes was a chance to mention some killer, killer music.
13:55 Anthony talking about Solar Power here got me lmaoooo
Tony Bennett's final album felt like secured grammy bait, so I'm shocked that didn't win.
Well, he already won twice in previous years for comeback albums so I guess even the Grammys figured it was time to move on
@@t.c.bramblett617 and his 95 win was extremely controversial
michelle of japanese breakfast is awesome and deserved a grammy and i am angry. i am an angry boy.
Hello angry boy
Would have loved to see Gojira win, also at this point I'm surprised they were even nominated. I love their creativity.
One thing that annoys me about the Grammys is that an album like Donda that's nominated for Album of the Year, doesn't win for it's own category.
The way I see it, even if it got nominated for album of the year, the category it got nominated for doesn't necessarily mean it's the best in that category, as some songs on for instance Donda aren't really Rap songs at all and the album has a lot of different things going for it that aren't just rap related, meaning that while it may not be the best rap album, it doesn't mean it doesn't eclipse other albums in that category.
Shitty analogy coming in, if a certain hamburger got nominated for hamburger of the year (Just go with it), but also got nominated for fastfood burger of the year, that doesn't mean that it's the best fastfood burger. Maybe other ones are faster prepared, easier to eat/digest etc. etc. But it's still an amazingly prepared burger that might not be the best fast food, but can still be the best burger of the year. (Don't ask me why I chose burgers, I'm running on little sleep atm).
@@JojishiAMVs Ha! I hear you Milk, and that does make sense.
Best rap single was a tie a couple years ago as well. Bubbling by Anderson Paak and Kings Dead by Jay Rock tied
This Jon Batiste pick is really weird. Todd put it best: there’s an entire category of artists who get a lot of Grammys because the only people who listen to them vote for the Grammys… and irrespective of the quality of the album, that makes it feel strange as an Album of the Year pick.
I am happy that it won cause I loved it more than most people and I never thought it stood a chance but let me tell you… my jaw DROPPED. I for sure thought it would be sour… or Billie…
Taylor, Billie, and Olivia in the same year probably ended up splitting a lot of the votes for crying on the floor breakup music.
He deserved it though. I never heard of him til hearing about his win. And the guy is a fucking music genius.
@@SomeSong2 ok tough guy
@birds in that case you were probably rooting for Sour or Montero?
Can we just take a moment to appreciate that Los Lobos won for Best Americana Album? Their new Native Sons record was fire, and I'm glad to see that they're still receiving a lot of appreciation for their talent and their body and work in this day and age.

I’d really like to see you review Rhiannon Giddens. It would be nice to see you review folk
I’m just happy Keem got a Grammy

Bruh...they hardly "lost" since they were nominated
Leave the Door open Winning Record of the Year makes me so Happy
Was this just the televised list? Didn’t see best dance/electronic album mentioned. Had never listened to the Black Coffee record until yesterday and digging it
I know it's a bit of a reach, but would you consider reviewing Kekht Arakh - Pale Swordsman. It's been making a lot of waves in black metal and it would be interesting to see your take on it.
I swear the grammies are the biggest Foo Fighters simps ever. Foo fighters are decent. But they certainly don't deserve as many grammy awards as they have. And beating All My Favorite Songs for best rock songs? idk man. grammies simping hardcore.
@Keu V I have a hunch as well.
@Keu V Voting ended before Taylor Hawkins died.
@Keu V Wrong. Votes were counted prior to his death. They are just lazy and pick foo fighters as a token vote. They haven’t deserved to win best rock album since There Is Nothing Left To Lose yet have won every time they have dropped an album since
Impossible, he only died like a week and a half ago
Anthony, we get that you didn’t like the baby keem album but you didn’t have to call family ties a “orgy of incest amoung the lamar family”
I tend to like to watch the Grammy's less for the awards, more for the performances but I wasn't sure I wanted to this year strictly because I had tickets for a Foo Fighters concert, was excited to see them preform and then... well... but I watched and while it made me sad the video package they di for Taylor was so nice and I hear that the band and his family all went to Dave's house and watched so I hope they liked it as well. The other performances were great though and some pleasant surprises in the winners!
Agree with you on Gojira though...
Okay results, but are you going to interview Daniel Rossen? Since the album of the year is going to drop this friday 😤
I’m kinda shocked Ok Human wasn’t nominated for anything except for all my favourite songs I guess but the album as a whole not even being nominated for like the best alternative album or something is pretty surprising for me
All My Favorite Songs felt like a strange choice for a Rock Song nomination, it barely fits the bill of rock and was clearly not going to win that category, when any of the singles for Van Weezer are much closer to rock and much more deserving of a Grammy (in that category)
@@me30000 ya exactly, it should have been for best alternative song (if that was a category cause I forgot)
Surprisingly well deserved Grammys this year. Usually they are way off the mark but this year I really didn't have too many complaints.

First tie was all the way back at the second Grammy Awards in 1960 for Broadway album. Gypsy and Redhead both won
Sometimes i be introverted not even being nominated is a crime
Don't let this distract you from the fact that the targeted ads just leaked that Anthony is a senior who is likely to fall for stimulus check scams and buy poorly designed "I hate my wife" personalized T-shirts.
He was on his great uncle’s old computer, don’t worry.
i’m really happy Doja, Olivia, and Keem had their moments. as well as the ceremony with all the non-televised awards, that was really great to watch

So ecstatic and over the moon that RÜFÜS DU SOL won the Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Recording! RÜFÜS DU SOL is one of my all-time favourite bands and I've been a huge fan of theirs for years now (since 2014, not long after their debut album Atlas came out), and I'm thrilled that they are getting the recognition that they deserve. Absolutely cannot wait to see them live in December!
Still upset that Porter Robinson and Genesis Owusu didn't get nominated but still happy nonetheless that RÜFÜS DU SOL won. Literally don't care about the rest of the Grammys, just happy they won.

Your reaction to grammy is NICE.
There has been a tie before. Funnily enough it was involving Anderson Paak last time too a few years back with Bubblin - tied with King’s Dead
In reference to the tying thing, the first time it happened was in 1977 and it was between Barbra Streisand’s “Love Theme from A Star Is Born (Evergreen)” and Debby Boone’s “You Light Up My Life” which were both awarded the Best Song Grammy. It was very controversial but overall it was accepted.
I feel kind of bad that Billie got totally snubbed.. happier than ever was arguably way smarter and more musically diverse than WWAFAWDWG. She really displayed her talents on that album.

@@flvvrboy I mean... she's probably kinda relieved since she got them all before
@amr3 Tbh I seriously preferred WWAFAWDWG as an album (based on my personal taste), but I was impressed by all the different vocals, melodies, instrumentals and sounds in HTE. I think she took the important step that is growing and diversifying her sound - and tbh even if it’s not a winner for her as far as audience reception, at worst it was a passion project that probably taught her a lot along the way. "I'm fine losing to someone like Kanye where I can be like" Okay I respect that. Kanye Is an incredible artist that has changed music " but don't get us all here to use the big names as a selling point for your show. Especially album of the year. But when something has this wave and impact on music and you give it to lala daady that's messed up. It's like they're so tone deaf to what's going on but they still say let's get beyonce here and make her think she's gonna win just to have a big name.
