I have so much disdain for Harry, mainly because he does anything even remotely different than the superficial stuff he’s always put out and his fans think he’s delivering a magnum opus. All the gawking about the “art” in his album cover made me sad.
Harry Styles used to dress way better in the skinny denim era too. Shout out to lazy Hedi Slimane collections, gotta be one of my favorite genders.

Muse is like fun anthem/arena style rock from the early 2000s (compared to Radiohead) turned parody of themselves. Huge tracks and some good albums, but for the past 10 years they've been the most gimmicky rock band. They're now known for political themes about the vaguest shit.

Good to see some Brandi love. Definitely the best performance of the night and anyone that is loved by Joni Mitchell is cool with me. Odd that the best reviewed rock album of the year - Skinty Fia by Fontaines DC was not nominated. Most ridiculous award was AOTY - c’mon Grammys Beyoncé was the clear winner and Harry’s House was a singles album - with quite a few b-sides.
The electronic and the rock sections are always such a head scratch, like you really have all these new rock bands with a youthful energy and unique style such as Turnstile and Idlels and you decide "fuck that give it to the old guy, more people know his name"
Turnstile isn't new or youthful and haven't made a good album since they were.

I know you're not a bluegrass guy so I'll do it for you. Big ups to Molly Tuttle for winning! She is incredible fresh up-and-comer that blends so well with the not your papa's bluegrass revival. The competition has some amazing heavy hitters like infamous string dusters and my personal favorite, Yonder Mountain String Band. I would have loved for them to win but honestly the album is not my favorite of theirs. The award clearly goes to Molly for blending tradition with the new scene and giving a delightful idea of how bluegrass can be so unpretentiously cool.

My basic rule of thumb with guessing who will win the Best Album award at the Grammys is “would a 50/60 white male music exec listen to this.” This is why the winner is almost always something competently made but completely unchallenging.
Harry’s House fits that mould, mostly because it is so heavily influenced by all the pop someone in their 50s/60s would’ve listened to when they were young.
The Beyoncé and Kendrick records didn’t have a chance.

Ozzy puts out arguably the worst album of his career (or second worst after Ordinary Man) and for some reason is marked the “best metal album” is enough to call them just straight “we read billboard and rolling stone to make our decisions”
In case anyone wants to fight on this; I fucking stan for Iommi and love his modern style (like his appearance on Candlemass was absolutely 🔥) and I have listened to endless amounts of Ozzy and truly tried to find something to enjoy on any of it. But it wasn’t good, hasn’t been good, and likely won’t be good again.
I think I've grown accostumed to this style of production that Ozzy's albuns have now. This overproduce stuff has been going since Black Rain, and it felt a little bit similar in 13. Black Rain and Scream were much better than Ordinary Man and this new album, though. They are not awful or anything, and Turnstile or Idles deserved much more, but so did many other albuns not nominated.... Well, it's the Grammys, anyway.

Steve definitely deserved a grammy for Bad Habit, can't believe how obtuse the grammy's were there not to give him something for the biggest song of the last half year. But if we're talking 'progressive R&B albums' Terrace Martin definitely should have won. I think Steve phoned it in a little on Gemini rights, so if were comparing album to album I don't think Gemini is better than Drones. But also, Gemini Rights (like you said Melon) is not a really a progressive R&B album.
