Hey, I'll have you the British military had a second useful thing: the tanks all come equipped with water heaters as standard so the crew can make tea.
Ahhh the mighty boiling vessel, the envy of armed forces around the world.
Could take a shower?
I just love that little "HAH" when the Multicrew is mentioned. So subtle, but well executed.
Omega Actual makes me sad though since I love multi crew but nobody uses it.
member the dog fighting arena? member power play?
This was big fun Yamiks - thanks so much for including me!!
CMDR Exigeous if you actually haven't seen a Challenger yet in PvP you need to look a bit harder
Also the comments on not being able to use an SCB were just silly, here's a finished build I made in 5 minutes that has the power and shields to effectively use a 6A SCB s.orbis.zone/W-ReMKQZ
Maybe I should have specified skilled pvp ;-) (all just part of the script....)
Still, all the misinformation about shield cell banks and the challenger's maneuverability hurt to hear. Its top speed may be low but its far more maneuverable than any other medium except the FDL.
Really, cell banks on a Challenger? Seriously? Sorry, but that's far from misinformation - as for it's maneuverability it's a brick to fly with the huge delay you get with any movement. The Chieftain is far more engaging to fly, as is the FAS and Krait.
I personally love the Challenger and now its my daily ship. I still love my Krait and Type 9 but this ship feels like a ship made for a single pilot.
To each their own. Personally i love my Hauler. Even when i got way better ships, i still found myself coming back to my little space moving van.
Same here, I'm in love with mine
I have never heard of someone loving their type 9, i find it dangerous to fly even in pve. *INTERDICTION DETECTED*
I always forget the eagle’s green.
I forget the Sidewinder is white
Holy shit Mp Extory.... LOL I feel horrible for laughing at that.
Mp Extory oh no....
@@freXampl lmao
I can mount three Imperial hammers on this and keep the top smalls and large as kinetic...
That alone makes it extremely viable. This ship isn't useless its just a remixed Chieftain that I really like.
Nicholas Sepulveda thank u Sir👌👍.
Hey where you get the Imp Hammers from? I never used those yet. (If u remember where of course lol)
Striving For Eternal Life I got them as a powerplay weapon for working for the queen. Just pledge to her for four weeks. Don't do anything until the third week. In the their week go to an Alliance Control system and kill 750 ships worth of merits.
You can do this by dropping just after a nav beacon. Just approach the nav beacon at the slowest speed possible and once you just barely fly past it drop to find powerplay ships. They are usually 60 to 120 km away from the nav beacon. Might take a few tries to get it right.
Either way just do it in the last possible week before you get to week four. That way your never have to grind your merits each week.
Nicholas Sepulveda or be billionaire like me and deliver 3 trips of goods on a full cargo Cutter, its like 7.5 mil only and you get 750 merits...
Pimenta Rules I could I guess... But I don't have money. And as a Hudson player I try to undermine others for my merits.
It's strange to hear exigeous cuss
Jesse Interrante nah he usually talks like a grown man during livestream's too. Yamiks just has a tendency to get excited and toss out f-bombs like a gatling gun more often.
all the fucks and shits and tits and cunts are with me .. yaaay!
Agreed
Yeah, on one of my first livestreams someone said that and I remember saying "are you fucking kidding me?? HA!" as my friends know I have a total sailor mouth - it's just that my content is so dead pan it wouldn't fit.
its good that you keep your channel straight and go all out here.
You want to see one used in PvP? ask a few of the higher tier PvP pilots. Rinzler uses one, some of the 13th use one (not that they can be considered high tier...) I have fought a few ones and I have to say it is a damn annoying hull tank.
Well sure, some fly it - that was partially for the script but also I personally have yet to see one and while I'm not Rinzler level PvP I do engage in it very often. Still in no way is it popular like any of the other medium class ships you see all the time.
I've spend a lot of time in both the Chieftain and the Challenger, and I finally finished engineering everything I can mount on them. Honestly, I think you're ragging a bit too much on the Challenger. Choosing either the Challenger or the Chieftain over the other really doesn't make much a difference. The two ships are basically comparable to the Anaconda or the Corvette, one is slower to move around but has a higher DPS, whereas the other's faster and more manoeuvrable but at the expense of DPS in the form of bigger guns but less hardpoints. I seem to recall in your Corvette review you mentioned this little factoid, and that you'd prefer the Conda's DPS over the Corvette's speed & manoeuvrability, why the sudden shift? I personally like the ability to have more DPS over marginal turn speed increase, and like Exigieous mentioned, using a twitchy weapon like railguns do you really want that kind of manoeuvrability, or would you prefer stability to line up your shots? I prefer the latter. More DPS, more stability, more hull HP, a ship worthy of its name.
I find its worth pointing out that I enjoy having an SCB in my challenger. I don't tend to use it much, I've engineered my bi-weave shields to be able to take some real punishment, I only had to use them in slightly hairy situations where I'm fighting multiple targets. Even then, the times where my shields did drop the hull barely ever went under 95%.
Currently doing the Power Play to get the Pack Hound missiles. I think this ship will do nicely.
I wish the devs would learn about physics and center of mass/center of thrust. This thing on take off would just flip over.
I would like a video on what kind of ship you think they should add.
I would like to see a high end small ship. Think something like Vulture/Eagle but they crammed the most high end parts to give it extreme durability and performance but the price is also through the roof.
It's a beast lol, I eat FDL's for breakfast in mine. Stupid DPS, stupid hull, Ridiculous manuverability. 100% one of the best easily.. Aaaaaand, give me as much stick as you like for this comment, but i lost a lot of respect for Exigeous' combat ability after this... Do you even lateral bro?
Challengers, along with FDLs, are the only ships that cause me trouble in PVE. I was fighting a Dangerous Vette in my Viper Mk4 and two Deadly Vettes at the same time with my FAS, but Challengers are just a huge pain. They have the mobility of the FAS, but more firepower AND higher hull hardness. Sadly they are so unbelievably ugly I will never ever spend money, let alone set foot in them. But yeah saying they are weak is as far from reality as it gets. I'm used to it from Yamiks though, he also shat on the Viper Mk4
Nice video so I just bought one and put a set of dirty drive class 2- 6d thrusters on it that I had in storage and let me tell you it really helps with manuvarbilty.
'The only useful thing in British military was the names'
I suppose the largest Empire in Earth history just fell into their laps I suppose?
Also with the amount you go on about the Queen I feel there's some sort of underlying obsession here.
Wanderer628 look at their pre 1944 wwii tanks
Uh, yeah? And your point is what? The Brits had some of the best tanks. However they were limited by the narrow gauge of the train tracks. Mostly pre-44, they got a bad rep from the African campaign, but THAT was not due to crappy tanks but to the brits, unlike the germans, having no tank transporters, so they had to run all the way on their tracks. In sand. Not good.
Because of the narrow gauge, the british tank was limited in gun size compared to the germans, but ALSO because of that they were the best armoured tanks: the smaller body meant they could pack on more armour and keep the weight down.
The Brits had good tanks? Really? Where?
Don Naskoni the mk series the challenger series the chieftain the comet the Cromwell
Largest in area maybe, but for long term success they're beaten by the Roman empire, the Japanese, and the Chinese
Well I like my challenger with triple medium rail gun and one large and three small beam laser. With upgraded power plant, it tears down enemy ships pretty well and can even hold its own in PVP. Guess I’m just lucky? TF-118
"Attacker"
"Hornet"
"Avenger"
"Spitfire"
"Firefly"
"Firebrand"
"Hurricane"
"Chieftain"
"Challenger"
It's true, Only good thing about british equipment is the fucking names.
nice unicorn at 0:24 :D
0:08 Me. 0:12 my friends.
A friend and I did a little 1v1 earlier. I was in chieftain with 2 efficient APA, 1 medium efficient plasma accelerator and 3 small long range rail guns and he was in a challenger. He was using 4 plasma accelerators. 3 medium efficient and 1 large OC along with 3 small efficient burst lasers with scramble spectrum.
We called the fight after his canopy broke. He was sitting at or around 36% hull while i was at 40%.
All in all, it was a great fight and I decided to buy a challenger and outfit it with 1 efficient apa, 1 medium efficient plasma accelerator, 2 medium g4 focused burst lasers with scramble spectrum and 3 long range rails.
Haven't finished the build yet, but I'm looking forward to it because my friend had me cussing like mad with those scramble bursts. Those things are a major annoyance vs hull tanks when they shut your ship down. Which my friend managed to do to me multiple times in our fight.
Still love the chieftains manueverability, but the challengers extra hard points and 10k armor (ehp after resistances) has me quite intrigued
They should make a ship and Name it Tyson. After Mike Tyson.
You guys are good together and should do all of future "blue" ship reviews in this format.
Class 6 and 4 cell banks specialized, biweave shield with thermal resist and the thermal experimental, two resistance augment with super cap, one heavy duty booster with super cap, a heat sink, three Cytoscrambler burst lasers, a medium cascade rail or hammer if available, two packhounds with drag, and a large overcharge corrosive MC. Comes out with almost 4K hull and crazy amounts of shields with decent resistance out of biweaves and banks, things a big ship killer. Rinse and repeat the same build for Chieftain, just swap medium cascade rail and twin APAs
You could slap collector limpets on and a large cargo rack, making the Challenger an Engineering material collector in a combat zone.
Come to think of it, I think I slapped a class 5 Hull reinforcement in that 6-slotter, as mentioned.
or you could just use a bigger ship for that, whit more limpet active. 12 limpets do the job amazingly.
MrPunkassfuck I did too bro, very valuable.
Ermy what if he doesn't have enough CP yet? Can he use the great Challenger in the meantime?
Striving For Eternal Life He could but there id no point in engeneering a small puny ship the you dont have a main bigger one, thus no need for materials
Ermy it's not puny, its medium sized. And some ppl like to have smaller ships for speed and maneuverability to run around big doofy ships and making their life hard. Like me, some ppl cant stand slow boring ships that have slow thrusters.
This why my ship of choice is Chieftain, Challenger, or the sexy AssaultShip.
But hey, we all have different opinions, 👍enjoy your game bro
My personal favorite of the 3 alliance ships. Hard hitting and absolutely beautiful.
My one criticism is that it's way too similar to the FDS but costs nearly the same as the Gunship. WTF?
Wrong, it combines the firepower of the FGS with the mobility of the FAS and has better hull hardness than both. The ship shouldn't exist imo
I enjoy dancing around with Chieftain, pew-pewing with APARs in PvE. My reaction to Challenger was "why would I want that?". Less APAR pew-pew, less maneuverability.
I use this ship in PvP all the time....... and still get destroyed by Sidewinders.
Are you gonna do a NMS NEXT review and possibly comparison with elite ?
Still a shit game
>Calls NMS shit
>Plays Elite
Typical Elite fanboy excuse
3k hours on Elite 300 on NMS since launch
NMS redeemed itself after all that shit storm and made the game better than Elite with an indie team
Meanwhile with Frontier we have this broken grind fest
Keep waiting for months hoping the next ''content'' patch will add a shit ton of stuff
Frontier made me lose my hopes on Elite, they need a better redemption than NMS
But ofc its easy to lazy their way for Frontier since no one gives a fuck about Elite, media is all about NMS and Star Citizen literally no one cares about Elite
NMS is sooooo good lol
I don't really get the comparison. They aren't remotely comparable. Completely different games in every aspect. If it's so awesome why are you on a elite dangerous video begging for a comparison ? I do find it comical that you came to a ED video then call someone a fanboy whole you try to promote NMS. Tbh pretty much every I know has no issues with NMS gameplay it's the art style and arcade like feel of it. The space combat is something similar to a "on rails" flight combat. Not something anyone who takes flight simulation and even simulation in general seriously could get into. I've played both and I just could not get past the cartoonish silliness of the game. Besides the update coming for ED has the community pretty excited. As well as content they'll be working on for the update after that. I'm glad you found a game you enjoy and wish you the best, but like someone said "apples to oranges". Kinda ridiculous to call someone a fanboy who was minding their own business on a video for the game they play. Also hypocritical.
Looking back at this video after the release of small guardian weapons... Challenger is now my fav for AX work. 3 small guass, 3 ax flak, 1 large plasma charger.
That british part killed me lol
This ship is actually pretty good. You put the right weapons on (cough cough shotguns cough cough).
It’s actually fairly maneuverable. The armor needs some upgrading, and you’ll need some upgraded shields as well
Get it if you want. It’s worth it if you know what you’re doing.
Also, don’t let this thing overheat. Don’t slap the best modules on Willy billy and expect your ship to handle it. I learned that the hard way
OMG, you actually got this review right!
Could it be used for piracy with the internals
sure, but when your cargo is < 100 tons .. not much potential profit at best of times
hey, if there already are two ships named under British tanks... it wouldn't be a bad idea to introduce Conqueror and Centurion, would it?
/s
Jonolitium4 Stop encouraging Lakon
we need this....
And Churchill and Cromwell as well
hell... just add all of them WW2 and Cold War era british tanks then. What could possibly go wrong...?
(Btw. noone take this all serious. its all only for memes)
According to a leak the next Lakon ship will likely be called the Crusader.
I have one question in this game. WHY IS THE ALLIANCE is the only one who's worried about the thargoid threat? I mean, the other two super powers just completely Enjoying butt fucking they're Capital ships. C'MON EMPIRE AND FEDERATION, THERE WILL BE NOTHING LEFT SOON.
Hey guys which is better chieftain or challenger and please tell me what is the difference.
Also the Chieftain and challenger are useful as they have around the same hull values as the other hull tanks mediums yet actually have decent shielding.
I call my Chieftan the Y-wing, and has now become my Missile bomber. Its very fun! :p
For me I defo prefer the challenger over the chieftain, that class 6 SCB is way better for me for PVE. I couldn't care less about the agility and speed, so challenger >>> chieftain to me, not to mention the better look of the challenger.
kanhf0514 drug addict
kanhf0514 I prefer it that way too - seems less twitchy when using fixed weapons.
This guy needs a real show on netflix or something.
You guys should do a video about your best ship on each size rank and challenge each other !!! Great jobs guys!!
I dont know VTAL and stealth bombers were a great british air invention....
Don't land it though. It will explode on take off.
... I really enjoy the Lakon ships...
the Diamondbacks and Chief/Challenger are freaking sweet lol the Challenger looks like a DBX and a Chief had a baby. :D
2 added class 5s instead of that c6 would have been AMAZING though.
*sitting in Ms. Jean's kitchen enjoying my Kitten Brand Coffee and Lavian Brandy lol
Enjoying the collaborations you guys are doing!
Couldn’t agree more Cmdrs, I tried hard to like it then sold it after a few weeks of never using it with me shouting ...NEXT !
Holy shit you’re right
Crusader, challenger, and chieftain are all british tank names
Still have a question on why the fuck a ship with a cockpit this big is a hull tank. Who came up with that idea AGAIN?
All pilots or alien would have to do is blow up the back wings and the ship would also be adrift and defenseless. Because those wings are not well armored. Is another flaw of the design. At least Chef had the thrusters on all wings so less likely to totally render useless.
Morris Marina hahahaha! My arse did laff right off. Morris Marina, hahahah! We had the Morris Marina TC. Pile of yellow painted shite. Like really shite. It was brilliant at splitting radiator hoses on the fucking M6. A 70s Brit jizzfest with gearbox & wheels. I miss it. So sporty.
I'll have to get me one after I finish outfitting my cutter with top gear
Cant see me adding this ship to my need to buy list.
Great video chaps.
A medic ship maybe but I've found no use for it so far, it's a shame really as I've worked on both back in my REME days (yeah I'm old I played Elite in 84)
Eh I like it. I feel like it needs something more to differentiate itself from the Chieftain but it's a fun and durable ship to fly. Edited because I said something dumb and wrong.
alot of hate for Britain and its tank/vehicle tech in this video so off the top of my head....
the cheiftan was the best tank in the world at the end of the war and through the 50s.
the cromwell was an exceptional tank with speeds of 40mph it didnt loose power when changing direction like the sherman and t-34 did it had better frontal armour than a tiger and a great 76mm gun able of destroying any german armour.
when invading normandy the allies chose to land in a place without a harbour. no worries! the Brits built the mulberry harbours and floated them accross the channel effectively bringing the deep water port with them. Rolls-Royce merlin engine, the Hurricane, the Spitfire, Lancaster and radar... i have a naval tech part aswell. anyway which is better if i like bounty hunting? krait or challenger?
Bounty hunting? If you like Python but want a SLF, go Krait. You want a punch and speed, challenger
My fav combat ship
Hearing Commander Exigeous swear is gold.
All these comments sorta crack me up - if you ever listen in on one of my streams you'll see I swear like a sailor most of the time ;-)
This original content is approved by the Cyber Assault Group - Cerberus
Anyone else wish the Chieftain had the Challenger’s Weapon Mounts?
Like this ship, fixed beams work really well on it.
I thumbed this video down because this ship happens to be the best ship vs thargoids. One doesn’t get that impression from this video so it wasn’t an appropriate review.
I use the chieftan as an explorer and I dont care what you think lol
Same here
It's just fun to fly. Cant quite put my finger on it. I do wish it has one more slot though for a small cargo slot or a shield
When it comes to explorers it almost doesn't matter what you use.
Avarice21 I dont know, I found the Python kind of painful. The jump range was just too damn short and it felt a bit sluggish flying it around.
Gibbo 1986 damn! Havent checked put the Krait yet havent played in a while and I'm way put by the core at the moment making more money for more ships hahaha. Maybe I'll trade in the chieftan for a krait, or lose my python for the krait.
I've had this game for about a year and do you know what the best thing about it is your vids.
The ships basically look like crap they offer ship kits that you have to buy separately and since there's no decent 3rd person view theirs no point buying them unless your a Muppet who wants people to know you spent money on crap also to get anywhere takes an unbelievable amount of time to get the upgrades for your engine and if you want to do PvP good luck against all the no life Muppets who have everything upgraded and all the money you could ever want because of the exploits and as for single player the only way to find anything out about the so called story is to use Google and search for it how hard is it to make games like free space 2 or galaxy on fire 2 (and that's a mobile game) for this generation
this game will die hard no space legg's or nothing boring as hell
and yet years later its still kicking.
the only thing that will kill this is a new ED game.
People still play the old one from 1984.
Ppl been saying ED is gonna die since it came out
Do we need a rank for it?
Why were they opening cans of beer while in a pub??!!
I use a 6A AFMU in the extra class 6 module spot.
Great video, love these reviews!
Really funny hearing Exigeous drop the f bomb...lol
Here's hoping Alliance ship number 3 is a step in the right direction, I mean the Chieftain was a great starting point for them and they kinda fell off the wagon already.
I hope the next one is a large combat multipurpose like the big 3.
Yams... I don't care how the ships look. I care if they work efficiently or not. Maybe tell me which Alliance ship can keep up with an FAS or an FDL or not. Then tell me about the fashion stuff.
"The point of this" is that they're amusing to a very specific few who understand? :P
The teeny tiny top engines look kinda strange to me.
And weak canopy.. HA. Ever tried a Vulture? lol
I was awaiting a Challenger space shuttle tragedy reference :/
Challenger isn't agile?
What the fuck, I have one and it's agile as heck
WHEN IS JACQUES GONNA GO TO BEAGLE FUCKING POINT
I love this game and these wonderfully colorful reviews
When are they adding the freater
I think this is secretly the best ship, all around.
Ppl got their heads so far up the kraits ass that they try out the Challenger ship skeptically, judging it ahead of time. True.
Me personally, I never plan on buying the krait. Its ugly, and I rather have a Python.
that's fine, everyone has their ship...but challenger stil is nearing asp-scout levels of "WWWWWHY?!"
TheYamiks true point. I dont think it was neccessary, but if you love the Chieftain like I do, the Challenger feels like an upgrade.
A tankier Chieftain with more options, can hold a little more cargo , an extra hardpoint and maneuvers just as sexy... Thank you developers 👌. (yea the appearance might be a little strange, but still lol)
3:36 someone's exited...
Cyber Swiper I get the impression that foul language is not one of Exigeous’ standard modes 😂
I'm writing a sci fi story about how commander antwan1357 took a courier mission accidentally ended up on Auraxis and got his ship taken by the Terren Empire , and is helping the NC while waiting for a chance to steal back his ship that has the coordinates to jump back to earth while leaving a faction behind loyal to Sirius Corp inside the NC back on Auraxis while trying to get past the Earth enforced quarantine.
I can already tell that you have to use more dots.
I know , I know , my mastery of the written word needs better execution. I just get a little too excited about some topics , and all comprehensive sentences go down the drain in my excitement.
Id like to read that book.
Thanks
let's be real, these are just FDev attempts at the pelican.
It looks like a Chieftan with its arms cut off. I flew it for a few days and just got bored with it. In a CZ, I did much better with my Chieftan.
Don't buy the Challenger wait for next one
Chieftain is meant to rival the Dropship
Challenger is meant to rival the FAS
The next one will be the best and rival the Gunship
And obviously the T-10 is meant to rival the Vette
Wrong : chief is meant to be alternative to FAS & clipper (it's literally the same as them with few SMALL changes)
Challenger .. i have no idea what it is.. sure price wise it fills a gape .. but nothing else is good enough in it!
So... it's basically a worse fed Gunship?
Anyone who doesn't think the challenger looks and performs awesome, is a yamiks subscriber
Or a PvE pilot ;-)
Sssshhhhhhhh be quiet, they'll ban you from the server!
@1:40 Everyone knows red goes fasta!!!
Guardian Shield Boosters on a chieftain is great !
no they're not..
you're better off with hull tanking it!
you sully an alliance ship with an Imperial emblem
"Alliance" ships. I wouldn't be caught dead flying one, because, that's just disgusting! :p
Troop transport?
I love stick jokes!
That exiegous jesus christ 3:00
Yeah, I was doing a play on a Top Gear episode where Jeremy got two versions of the 911 confused
This ship looks amazing
well done, funny as always
Get bognogus in a video!
it's kinda meh, looking at it in Coriolis i could kinda see that, it fills a niche role for niche players, really won't appeal to everyone. but hey there has to be some bad ships otherwise there wouldn't be any good ships. and that's just basic game design. but what is "good" can be subjective to the player too. i.e. there's probably at least like... 3 people out there who think the challenger is amazing.
Exigeous used swears. Hehe.
I see challenger as an in atmosphere warship, not real good for game balance, but if they ever allow us to land on colonized planets and roam around, it would be cool to see challengers on alliance planets with fed bricks on theirs and imp eagles and couriers respectively. Honestly, not sure why the courier is even called a courier, little to know cargo space, it would be better for a short range heavy fighter or escort ship in atmosphere or asteroid fields.
:0. British military are OK :(
