We need size 6 hull reinforcements. Then the second size 6 in the challenger would make sense.
While I agree, I too wish there were size 6 HRPs, Fdev put the two size 6 slots there so you can have a size 6 shield and size 6 SCB. Which you really should have on the ship since it's drives are very easy to take out.
they should make it 2 size 3 slots or a size 4 slot and a size 2 slot
You install a c6 cargo rack? As i said piracy wet dream, lots of options in weaponry/tools with the amount and sizing of hardpoints.
or yaknow... two c5 internals bc they take up the same area
its there so it can be shield tanked IF you want or to make it a bit more multi purpose, for some cargo or the like. although as a combat ship I would love even more Hull tank ability.
The challenger doesn't really trade maneuverability for armor just a little speed, you wont notice the speed difference while you will notice how much more tankier it is so i would do that trade any day. Compared to the chieftain and its competitor python its a much better allround capabilities because of the large number of hardpoints and internals. You can put an entire core mining outfit + surface missile, an srv, collector limpets, 64t cargohold and STILL have enough slots for not only decent shields/armor but also for 2 medium gatlings a large beam laser and either a s1 mining lance, beam laser or corrosive gatling, wich engineered is just enough damage to kill every npc pirate in the game. Its only downside in my opinion is that the fuel tank feels like its 1 size too small and the jumping range could have been a improved by 5-10ly so you have to swap the cargohold for another fuel tank for long travels. On all other medium ships like the python or krait you will not be able to do cover all gameplay aspects of the game without having to constantly swap out and transit equipment every time you want to another job.
If you are looking for a TRUE allrounder that can do combat, mining, planetary, exploring and missions with the same loadout (altho a bit less effective) and still be able to land on stations with medium pads the challenger is one of the best choices ingame.
The 1 dislike is from Lakon
25 other dislikes is from Type 10 fans.
I actually own only the Crusader (of the Allience ships. Not counting the type 10). Is there anybody who actually prefers the Crusader?
I own all of them but only use crusader for pve got to have my npc slf for more fire power and easier to take on wings.
i absolutely adore my crusader
Crusader all the way with 1 class 3 beam and 2 class 2 beams 3 small multi's eats threw ships quite fast
In the three ships in the thumbmail are same, right?
Nice joke
Honestly, yes. Its like buying a Ford Mustang. You can get the GT, the Premium, or the V6, but its still a Mustang. And in the end, only one of them is considered worth buying lol.

aaah fuck!
lol 🥔
We need a 4th one on the Chieftain line, a civilian variant for those who aren bothered by combat and just want to do Space Uber/Euro Trucking in Space.
And just to give Yamiks more reason to create a video about Elite Dev's laziness
Call it the Cromwell
Call it the Churchill, seems more fitting for the use
The worst part is that even when you finish the long shit there is no satisfaction or release. It is just pain, blood and shit. Thanks for ruining toilet time Fdev!
Yamiks, I love you man, but I feel like you're underestimating the power of a SLF. It's basically an extra class 4 hardpoint and 500 extra hull.
How? Well the damage is obvious - DPS is about the same as a class 4 hardpoint. It's also like having an extra 500 hull because your enemy is forced to either A) split their fire (meaning you take less damage while they try to shoot the ultra-nimble SLF) or B) ignore the SLF while a class 4 weapon constantly pounds them in the ass the entire fight (which will easily cost THEM 500 hull.)
And that's not a major advantage to you? Don't get me wrong, I agree, the Crusader is kinda shit. But on something like the Krait MkII (where the penalty to turn rates is much lower vs. the Phantom than the Crusader vs. the Challenger) the SLF is extremely powerful.
SLF is a fighter?
My Squadron hates my challenger because they've all lost to me in combat..
I'm sad they didnt take a varied approach to these ships. Like one is good for fielding supplies one is good for combat as a specialty and the last is good for more search and destroy. That way you could have trader combat and explorer options. I would love to see the chieftains model on a trader because it looks like a ship that would field supplies to a war torn system. It has that look like imma get my supplies to where they need to go and you cant stop me. As for the crusader I could see it patrolling systems deploying its fighter where needed and the challenger could've had that I will find you vibe. Such a missed opportunity
The 2nd class 6 optional gives u 2000mj extra shields with a 6b cell bank, whilst a 5b would give only half that. A resistance based bi-weave shield set up works really well with the Challanger, whilst still being a hull tank with 4k hull hitpoints (engineered).
The Crusader is the only ship I have ever sold....and I didn't need the money!
@TheYamiks next showdown: Crusader vs Krait vs Gunship (A.K.A. the battle of the Adolescent mothers)
I'm gonna bet on the Krait. Crusader is the Michelangalo (tmnt) of those listed. It has no right to win.
I’m confused. Do love this game or hate it?
If it is not obvious enough, both.
Chieftain, I got nothing else to say
picked up both Crusader and Challenger today, just for fun and was pretty surprised to find out that Crusader has a fighter bay and challenger doesnt.
Just looking at the optional internal slots it would have made so much more sense if challenger has it and not Crusader (also looking at the price although thats just a rough indicator).
If Challenger had a fighter bay it would be an awesome ship, though. I would definitly use it but as it stands atm its pretty useless.
And Crusader needs a fundamental workover. Maybe make it a bit more like gunship. A tanky as fuck, armed to the T weaponplatform that cant move. Then it would have an identity at least. (one that would fit the name)
If the jump range wasn’t so bad, I would think the extra class 6 was for a fuel scoop, but considering how bad it’s jump range is, it’s pointless. It would be nice to have a combo exploration/ combat ship that can be well armed and have good jump range so you don’t have to ship it everywhere. Krait comes close at least.
Chieftain = PVP edition
Challenger = PVE edition
Crusader = multicrew edition
Ben York U fuckin' wot, m8?
They are all viable PvP ships...
I have a 50 ly Chieftain for exploration... lol
Are the Guardian SLFs worthy of a review or are they too much alike?
The Challenger is one hell of power house of a hulltank and DPS monster that is highly manuverable and extremly fast. Go with BI-Weave shield and armor tank with 5D 3D and 2D module reinforment, engineer the thrusters (probably dirty drive) and go with all Dual shot fragmentation cannons and lets see anything keep up with your 45+ degree pitching and near constant boosts and you know 900+ Burst DPS... and Dual Chaff for good measure.
Chieftain is faster at everything, I was running long range MCs, chipping away at the enemy and never getting touched. Fun, but I got sick of having to go reload so now I'm running all gimbaled efficient beams, two large on right trigger to knock out their shields, the rest on left to vaporize them on the first flyby in most cases unless it's an anaconda, then it takes a few passes. Anything smaller than that is toast within 5 seconds or less and I never even have to reload. Cobras, Vipers and eagles take 3 seconds from 100% shields to debris and materials for my limpets to grab. Hell I've even started going after wings solo, it's tougher, have to get one away from the pack, but once it's one on one they go down pretty quick. The trick is to let em chase you but stay in range, one is always faster, once his buddies are far enough behind, smoke his ass and go grab the next, rinse and repeat. That's what I love about this game, endless ways to build badass ships.
Thanks for the video. It's a bit difficult to sift through the opinions to weigh the actual ship comparisons though. I value everyone's opinion, but the comparisons here are a bit too overshadowed to be informative.
So apart from being a copy of the "dropship line", the big question here is... Is the Type-10 the large ship from the Alliance line? Since it was a Lakon and Alliance collaboration. Or, Is there yet another Alliance ship that is going attempt to compete with the Glorious Cutter and the "hold my beer" Corvette.
I wonder what it will be called?
Probably the Churchill if they stick to british Tank names....
It's like watching the special Olympics.
All 3 ships are in the same mid-price range, and players are likely to pick only 1 while saving up for a larger ship. That's why they made them with the same look, you'd never know unless you bought all 3.
The crusader is a medium-sized ship with 3 multicrew seats and plenty of armor, with enough space for SRVs and fighters. It may not be the fastest but it is fairly maneuverable and has decent acceleration/deceleration. All of these factors make it a suitable and versatile ship for small teams to use in ground conflict zones in Odyssey.
Protip: If you are easily grossed out do NOT watch Yamiks while eating as it will cause loss of appitite, dizzyness, anal seepage, and nipple cocks. Please consult your doctor before watching. Yamiks. For a better tomorrow.
Whats with all the subliminal 1 frame imagery?! What are you trying to do my feeble mind?!
I want one just so I can feel like a unsc pelican pilot
best first 30 seconds of a video lol so much hatred
What's the proverb about hamburgers?
I don't understand why they didn't just make one of these a large shp. It could have been near identical but just moved up a size to add to variety, rather than just a shitty lazy copy and paste rush job. These are not new ship's, a reskin is just lazy devs that can't be bothered (which seems to be Frontiers attitude with Elite in 2018) to put the work in. It's borderline insulting to a community that loves the game, Frontier should be ashamed of themselves. Surely, if this is Brabens baby even he isn't happy with this bodge job unless the pound signs from future projects are clouding his judgement!!!
i wish they would atleast made one copy of to be good for exploration...
My chieftain is just a halfway stop to an FDL
you should talk about what we should do about the rank grinding part of the ships line, when you can only buy these or rank grind to get a new ship
(between these 3 and the orca)
I should've seen the outcome of the latest community goal coming, but since I just now watched your video and ignored all three in every shipyard, I hauled some 15k tons to Brett High for nothin.
Finally a pink sock reference. Quality prolapsing there!
I watched your videos on multiple occasions when I'm looking for information on ships and everytime... You spend more time trying to be funny than actually giving any useful information. I appreciate humor, but I realize your more about being funny than actually giving information. Your videos aren't bad, but for people that want actual info, try balancing the humor with knowledge. This is just my constructive criticism.
Just getting back into the game with a few hundred mil in the bank account, might pick one of these up. I appreciate the info!!!
well, maybe I won't after watching this video. lol
chief is ok.. but i prefer some others myself!
Krait is Great. Pick one.
Do you mean chieftain vs chieftain vs chieftain?
I remember doing a exploration trip on an 17ly crusader back in the day... didn't know how jump range worked but i tought the cockpit looked cool
Didn't even got out of the sector and was 400 jumps from going back to the bubble
I think the spoilers are for aerodynamics once we get planetary landings with atmo
Because you soo much need extra downwards force pushing you towards the ground when moving forwards like an F1 car when trying to fly
In max speeds F1 cars can literally drive on the ceiling due to the front and rear spoilers
I really like the Challenger for Combat. It just feels more powerful than the Chieftain.
I think so too, I even have two of them for different loadouts. It handles better and has better hardpoint placement. The Chieftain is a little too drifty for me.
Same here. It flies great. I just wish the model department wasn't so lazy
The challenger has better weapon placement than the chieftain I think. The chieftain has about 50 m/s more speed than the challenger and vertical thrusting is a bit quicker. I prefer the chieftain as I like having a ship that is more agile and the chieftain can move out of the enemy ships firing solution that extra bit more quickly. That said, the challenger feels more stable than the chieftain due to its lower speed, feels more planted. I like both ships.
I don't think you really understand anything about Challenger. It's actually a decent ship. You call this ship a hulltank. Spoiler - it's not. It's a HYBRID. That is simply another type of ship. It have more EHP survability than chieftain or crusader + more actual DPS. That's the part you missed.
whats the pony at :20 doing there for?
That long shit analogy 😂😂😂😂😂
look how the fighter bay is so hyped on it....Look at itttttt !!!! But hey less we not forget there are more Alliance "C" ships coming no doubt... like the Cromwell, Churchill,Centurion, And Conqueror, be prepared people Be prepared.
Hahahaha nice video my man
WHY IS EVERYONE MAKING THE SAME MISTAKE.
1. The Crusader is the DROPSHIT equivalent + SLF. Hardpoints: 1L, 2M, 3S vs 1L, 4M
2. The Challenger is the Gunship equivalent! Hardpoints: 1L, 3M, 3S vs 1L, 4M, 2S
Continuing that though, the biggest reason I would state as to why take the Challenger over Gunship is raw speed. My full armored gunship boosts to 425; same armored challenger boosts to 490... but you loose the SLF.
Dropshit/Crucified? Why would you ever use either of these abortions of failed ship design? Of the three Alliance Piggies, the Crusader is the slowest at 470 with full armor and max engineered thrusters. To quote Yamiks, "Fucking WHY?"
sure yeah but as said : they are more twisted and mutated versions of federal piggies!
The challenger isn't at all a bad pvp ship with the right build. It's a pleasant side grade to the FDS
Was there a dragon?
It feels like they’re screwing with yamiks at this point. That spoiler seems deliberate
.
Am I the only one who can see the freaking difference between them
i got a challenger, for hardcore mining
Can i steal slaves with these ships???? Sorry i meant *Liberate* slaves
Well not everyone can cruise with the Crusader 😅 it's a specific playstyle ship "hardpoint caps" to get unlike the ALL Rounder ships that don't know what to focus on 😋 even a krait can fight goids with the right CMRDs. We are so used to multitask ships that a focus ship is not good enough 😂.
Well, when this line of new Alliance ships is out of the way, any ideas what ship will be next? For which faction or from which manufacturer?
Krait Phantom is on the horizon. And hopefully a true Large Alliance ship to wash away the t-10 dissapointment.
I dont get it why is there a dedicated video for chieftain vs chieftain vs chieftain. Seems redundant to me.
just as redundant as the ship line-up itself!
Chieftain: Base model ship of the Alliance’s commission of Lakon in response to Thargoid threat. Highly maneuverable fast and well armed.
Challenger: A brawler variant. Sacrifices mobility for more armor. Well armed and armored.
Crusader: A more armored multi purpose vessel. Less firepower than the Challenger but makes up for it with its capability to launch two fighters.
My review.
The Challenger is an awesome ship. I am more of a dogfighter person, the fact that it’s fast and maneuverable and well armed is satisfying for me. The way the hard points go along the spine of the ships is excellent for concentrated fire and leading. I noted that some criticize the canopy being ridiculously large but recall Rule #4 of the Dicta Boelcke, “Always keep an eye on your opponent, watch out for tricks.” The Challenger’s maneuverability also brings Rule #5 to mind, “In any form of attack it is essential to assault your enemy from behind. It would benefit pilots in this ship and others like it to read the entire Dicta Boelcke. I do wonder why the nacelles on the Challenger do not swivel giving the ship vectored thrust?
I forgot to mention, I almost went with the Crusader, but I realized that it lacked firepower compared to the Challenger.
Between chieftain and challenger wich one do u recommend? I want to buy an alliance ship but idk
@@killermacho444 Chieftain, It serves me well for bounty hunting or combat particularly because of it's two class 3 hardpoints makes it more efficient for mult-cannons while the Challenger's three under the nose harpoints makes it a awkward when using multi-cannons. While the Challenger is more rugged, the Cheiftain is a fast and very maneuverable ship. Useful for quickly regaining a firing solution on the enemy quickly.
@@Soundwave142 im not that veteran in the game, I’m using viper mk IV now and maneuvering is not that good as you might know so I want an effective ship for bounty hunting that I can use to good dogfights , so you recommend chieftain for it? Also I’m a multi-cannons guy but maybe I’ll use electromagnetic cannons
@@killermacho444 Then go with the Chieftain, it's two top mounted large hard points will provide excellent lead for the multi-cannons!
Spoilers might make sense in atmospheric worlds..Lmao! You calm my hatred for fdev. I have a bad feeling about Q4... exploration mainly - technology to use to help me find pointless shit easier? Its hard to play this game anymore. By the time they have made anything worth validating it as "content" , no one will care because others will have done it already and better. Still on the gnosis.. thanks fdev, cunts. (We cant let them in the cone, bc if we do, they will know we haven't done shit with it, then this money train will be over)
Spot on!!! The Cone Sector will be identical to every other system in the game. Frontier want more players exploring, but why would you bother when a system near Beagle Point is the same as a system near Sol. Exploration in a game only works if there's differences or things to find, and I really don't think Q4 will change that (please prove me wrong Frontier) Especially as the promised surface changes and different Ice Worlds are now not going into the game for the foreseeable future. The furthest I've travelled has been 5000lyr to a nebula and the only difference was the background and nothing else. I keep my fingers crossed for Q4 but my expectations get lower and lower with each announcement!!!
Wha... NO BLOOPERS?
Always with the changelings lol
I'm thinking that we might be getting a large alliance ship next.
We already do it's called a T-10
lol challenger probably should have 3 class 5 military and 1 class 5 multi instead of 2 class 6. but wouldnt that make it super op?
Down with the alliance
Visually, I can't tell one from the other.
Flight Assist Tested 😉 Go Beyond 😉
make a fighter with the same kinds lol for alternative to srv
Oh wow you managed to make a video comparing 3 almost identical ships 5 and half mins long, THAT is a skill!!
That´s the second Yamiks video i ever watched without even a SINGLE squeeky noise... it feels SO wrong!
4:24 🖖👍
Spoiler alert.
The crusader is fun for multicrew. The chieftain is a good fighter and the other one is shit.
Just to make a wee correction. These ships aren't carbon copies of each other... they're copies of the ship (Raza) from the show Dark Matter.

They all look nearly the same
Thanks Yamiks
One of your best videos yet, Yamiks.
O7 Mr funny man🎉
Chieftan is shit for PvP, loaner sidey is best for PvP because no rebuy LOL
Still elite dangerous poor tho
how?
Normally love these reviews but the comments on the challenger are just factually hilariously wrong. Both Cheiftian and Challanger have identical mobility, both in practice and stats and once A rated, the max speed has a barley noticeable difference. The true downside of the challenger is its price tag and lower jump ranger. Everything else is better than the Cheiftian. The Crusdader DOES have significantly lower mobility and speed however and is a pile of wank. Have no idea where yamiks got mislead from; every single source from in game stats to the wiki clearly states this.
Like everything else: it's probably a bug. I expect Fdev in the future to ether buff Crusader's stats a bit, or lower Challenger's.
@@Windrake101 Fuck me running, they better not nerf the Challenger! Thats my AX ship!
Challenger has lowe pitch anbd yaw speeds... you know that ?
@@TheYamiks Doesnt feel like it in flight.
Technically the chieftan can turn slightly better (if you look at actual number values) But the difference is pretty small. The challenger is still a really agile ship. Better than others in its class

Man, you always make such cool videos and are so bang on criticising devs, but you had to go and fuck up by throwing in a cheap transphobic joke. Thanks for contributing to alienate trans women from the gaming scene, although it's a bit of an overkill because many people are doing that already. I'll subscribe to another creator who doesn't need to mock other people's identity to be funny.
Honestly I would be more concerned that it would be a very old joke and cringy. When it comes to humor to me there are no boundries : if a joke is funny - it's funny + i've said waaaay worse things, don't you think? Also making fun of myself or my own country of origin...
Overall it's silly to get upset/be offended over a joke.
Oh do you know any expensive transphobic jokes? lets laugh:)
