Facts are facts, a bit slower and less manoeuvreable, but I begin to really enjoy the Challenger: with 3 short range burst lasers, 1 large MC, and... 3 small focused burst lasers which can pick the shield apart from afar, it is a nasty, poisonous frog. For AX combat, the Challenger's hull resistance (65 vs 50 for the Krait, for ex.) and additional HPs make it better IMO.
Something important ignored here: INTERNALS ! Chally has a much better internal compartment's arrangement, who allow a much better loadout.Chaffy with 6-5-4-2-2-1 vs Chally 6-6-3-3-2-1 suffers when it comes to limpet controllers since are no class II but only 1,3,5,,7. I need to fast scoop the materials after fight, and Chally is much better suited for. I own both, and indeed Chaffy is a dream to fly, but Chally is more practical if you want a ship who can scoop fast the materials.

Challenger can use a class6 Shield Cell, it was actually probably designed for that. This in itself justifies the Challenger as it can be used in a different way than a pure hull tank.
I think these ships are too similar. I do not see the point of releasing the Challenger. There are differences obviously, but to justify it being added to the game it should have been more different.

I tried all fragment cannons with chieftain, it is over powerfull but limited in time (ammo). Your idea to use these burst lasers seems to be very cool, I have to try this. Thank you Kornelius, perfect video. Have a nice week.
HAHA I did that as well with my chieftain, I still sometimes go full frags just to have a laugh. Oh man seeing shrapnel everywhere, you kill what you did intend to kill and what you didn't lol, but the fun is short lived and back to the station for more shrapnel.
The challenger is thing is more for hunting down and killing heavier ships, as it has some trouble slotting in on more maneuverable ships Here’s some advice. DO NOT upgrade your modules right after buying. Make sure that your power distribution is enough. I overheated on my first flight. Wasn’t fun Try shutting off less important modules when not in use. Be ready to enter the module panel mid fight if power distribution is an issue
I got a basic fit on my chieftain and I love it but as you point out it's a bit sluggish in some respects to the challenger. Though, it's a decent ship in the same price range as the federal assault ship and without the rank grind (which isn't bad but I know some folks won't bother so this is a good alternative).
Awesome. Could the krait be compared to these 2 ships? Or is the krait too multipurpose to be compared with these 2 for combat? I just bought a krait wondering if its worth loading it out for fighting or not since the chieftain is quote amazing already.
of course it can be compared, even type 9 can be compared to these :) you can wait for me to make this comparison video or just watch my krit vs python and check it's stats to compare with challenger/chiefrain.

Hmm. I noticed your distributor wasn't really suffering from it, either. I like builds that don't use ammo. Do all 3 pulse lasers have scramble spectrum? Also, any recommendations for a Krait ridiculous dps laser build?
yeah, pulse all had scramle spectrum. crazy short range burst laser with inertia SE, insane dps ;) just use medium/large for bursts, i just tried FAS with 2med+2large bursts and it eats condas in teen seconds.
i don't know about weapons prices, also mods and special effects change weapons a lot, i think bursts were one of cheapest and if you can mod them..but this laodout is specific, normally you put there some kind a mix of multis and lasers for pve or plasma rails multis frags for pvp but heavily modded all.
After quite some combat, Im back to my FAS - challenger plain too slow and a cockpit of glass. I wonder how one can kill a basilisk solo with a challenger, something you can do with a FAS.

A Chieftain or Challenger with a full double-shot frag loadout is the perfect little assassination mission runner. :)

i put rapid fire on pulse, those were insane....heat generators :)
