0:33 '...purchased in a station under advanced maintenance...' Came here for this. I was confused as I restocked as I normally do but I had no limpets.
Thanks! I figured out the basics eventually after trying to do a hostage rescue mission that required a return to base. Watching this first would have saved me some time, but at least I got a rundown of other things limpets can do.
There should only be one type of limpet controller but able to house drones of different type saving us the unecessary hassle of fitting multiple controllers and wasting ship slots.
I'd much rather have that. One controller with different limpets than one type of limpet with different controllers. If a Limpet comes equipped to do all of those tasks, why does it need different computers to tell it to do those things? It doesn't make much sense to equip every limpet with technology to repair, transfer fuel, scan and hack things, etc. when it's just going to do one of those things and then die.
I agree. They should keep what they have now but add a more expensive "advanced" limpet controller that can do everything. Just add the specific limpet programming to a fire group and you're good to go. Itll free up valuable optionals for more cargo space or anything else you need which can add more utility to your ship.
I sure did. I didn't know there were 9 different types of limpet to use, and to have the functions of each one explained was illuminating. I'm now determined to try decontamination and repair limpets as part of my Thargoid combat.
How do I get a limpet to keep collecting Untill it died? Because when I try to do it the just grabs something puts it in my ship and kills itself completely disregarding the other things I have targeted
It's too bad FDev didn't add an engineering effect to a limpet controller that adds a second programming effect. Such as engineering a hatch breaker limpet controller to also be able to program limpets for collecting.
For collector limpets - If you select and target an item, it will collect that one item and expire. If you have nothing targeted, it will gather all materials in range and expire at the end of it's life cycle.
0:27 copy and paste errors and spelling mistakes. Recon and Research "HATCH data terminals" Decon and Repair limpets both "repair hull and canopy" no mention of removing caustic damage.
Can the collection limpets be used to collect debris from destroyed ships? Getting really bored of running around with my cargo hold open picking up individual things!
Let me help... On the left screen under the contacts tab while you are mining fragments will pop-up highlight a fragment you don't want and it will give you the option to ignore and it will skip the fragment. Now if you ignore Bromelite and a fragment appears with Bromelite and Painite it will still pick it up and your refinery will ignore the Bromelite(I used Bromelite and Painite as an example but it applies to all minerals... If a mineral you want is mixed in with one you ignore, it will always pick it up)
Shit, thanks for reminding me, totally forgot to put it in the description. It's Into Darkness on the album Exodus by Miguel Johnson (and yes, purchased and used legally - now that it's in the description that is - sorry Miguel!)
dude please help me???? I do not know what I am doing wrong here, I have the collector controller and the prospector controller, and 64 cargo slots, but I can't get any limpets at a port I go to advanced maint. then try to restock them and the buy option is red. I have no warrent. I have been at this for days.
Except for you didn’t mention how any of them are actually used. You told us what therefore but not how to use them, how to activate them. This piece of info doesn’t seem to be anywhere. And as a new player it’s one of my biggest questions.
I'm being absolutely honest, this is a really good and consise guide, but how the hell do you even buy limpet ammo there is nothing telling you how to buy it and there's nothing that seems obvious to me and there is no guide that explains this and it really annoys me how this game has no proper way to teach new players. Anyways if anyone could reply and explain to me like I'm 5 on how to actually buy limpets I would really appreciate it I've been playing for like 3 days and this game teaches nothing.
Been there, done that (like a million times) - at some point hit up a material trader and make sure you have minerals for synthesis for next time this happens.
Yeah, still don't get it.. Funny how I can mine in Star Citizen, Eve Online, but not in Elite.. Is this mining technique from 1984 as well..? Isn't it bad enough they have a WWI flight combat simulator for space combat.. :p and they wonder why they cannot get people to play this game.. DUH.. It would be like Eve Online with every ship having a combat range of 1k.... You cannot balance that... and they cannot balance this crap either.. This game should have buried Star Citizen, Eve Online and even X Foundations but the developer are too busy shooting themselves in the foot with overall development for some child's toy console, and a child's toy controller, and childish Gameplay.... This companies head is still buried in the 80s.. I just hope some of the Staff Changes fixes this.. Its like these people DONT want to make money, or something... Game is kind of hard when you have to try to manipulate everything a TWO BUTTON Game Console System.... The extractor should should have been in the damn mining module... or even the Processing Unit.. This type of mining brakes the immersion as no one would have developed this type of mining system.. Its costly, inefficient, wasteful, and time consuming. On top of that its contrary to anything anyone has ever done in an online game.. Its bad enough with a WWI Dogfight Sim in space, what a bunch of goofs.... it doesn't even make any sense and throws the game immersion right out the window... Then throw goofy mining on top of it....and trying to manipulate it all with just two buttons.. In any case, thanks for your videos they are helpful.. and sorry about the RANT.. lol.. but I got to vent somewhere... Its not like you can do the combat in the game to vent..
Glad you mentioned that prospector limpets increase mining yeild. A rated prospectors results in a 3.5x increase in fragments.
Yep, also point that out in my tutorial on mining.
The moment you realize, you spent hours in SRV to collect iron and nickel for your limpets, but you can buy them too ....
Dear sir. Where can you buy the limpets from :D Really couldnt figure out.
@@MrAnimalux hey, you probably already found it, but it's in advanced restocking options.
@@yuriibondar3757 thank god you replied to him

Always like to point young CMDRs to your vids when they ask innumerable questions regarding things like this. Fly dangerously, CMDR. o7
Well as that's exactly why I created them that's great ;-)

Guess what, we have this right now on december 202, quite late, but still there
Great stuff. I always learn something new from your 'Quickie' videos. Thanks CMDR!
Thanks, glad to hear that. Learn anything in this one??

Very cool - glad something so boring was helpful ;-)
I like the information in the quick format
But that music tho
Good or bad? Personally I (obviously) love it.
What do operation mining multi and rescue limpets do?and why do they weigh in at 15 tons? Or 10 tons?
You better do this one again Mate :D
Thanks for this made the mistake of not buying them and the cargo needed. Plus I went and forgot to equip my mining laser
How do I get a limpet to keep collecting Untill it died? Because when I try to do it the just grabs something puts it in my ship and kills itself completely disregarding the other things I have targeted
Cool new background music
Thanks, I was getting tired of the same Elite soundtrack that I've used thus far and think Miguel's stuff is great.

I didn't know they had a lifetime. I thought they were a one and done thing. Thanks for explaining this for me.

OH GOD WHERE DO YOU BUY LIMPETS? THERE IS NO RESTOCK SCREEN

Can the collection limpets be used to collect debris from destroyed ships? Getting really bored of running around with my cargo hold open picking up individual things!
yes, they can
im on the coeloh station right now and i cannot buy them... i use the starter ship... is it to bad to use collector limpets?
How does one program a collector limpet to only target a specific material?
Would be good to know! I am also desperately searching for that option...

Good vid. The music you use should really be mentioned though. In the description if not in the vid

I was so hyped for mining, but the limpets keep destroying themselves idk
Thanks soooo much
Does anyone know where I can buy a limpet controller? To make a prospector and collector
outfitting sections.
Can i use fuel limpet on myself
Apparently you can by not having a target when deployed
Great video! How do you make your camera move so slowly and smoothly?
HOTAS controls - I "fly" that camera just like my ship.
oohhhh.. ok. Also do you recognise me?
Seems I don't, clue me in?
occasionally i see you on but im CMDR Coradaw. also ive commented on a bunch of your videos. One more thing, how did you come up with "Exigeous"?
Thanks! U helped a new fuel rat 🐀 ⛽️
Isn't this the song from Avatar? Such a good movie
Nope, it's a track called "Reborn Into Darkness" by Miguel Johnson (in the description)
Very useful for mining the "famous" 500 tonnes of "ore" 😂
If you're working on that and new to mining I have a complete tutorial on it you can check out.
CMDR Exigeous already unlocked CMDR, the old way...unfortunately that time I did not know you yet... 😭
